Shikonin could be a lead compound in the treatment of rotaviral secretory diarrhoea. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Front Pharmacol. 2016 ;7:270. Epub 2016 Aug 23. PMID: 27601995 Abstract Title:  Shikonin Inhibits Intestinal Calcium-Activated Chloride Channels and Prevents Rotaviral Diarrhea. Abstract:  Secretory diarrhea remains a global health burden and causes major mortality in children. There have been some focuses on antidiarrheal therapies that may reduce fluid losses and intestinal motility in diarrheal diseases. In the present study, we identified shikonin as an inhibitor of TMEM16A chloride channel activity using cell-based fluorescent-quenching assay. The IC50 value of shikonin was 6.5μM. Short-circuit current measurements demonstrated that shikonin inhibited Eact-induced Cl(-) current in a dose-dependent manner, with IC50 value of 1.5 μM. Short-circuit current measurement showed that shikonin exhibited inhibitory effect against CCh-induced Cl(-) currents in mouse colonic epithelia but did not affect cytoplasmic Ca(2+) concentration as well as the other major enterocyte chloride channel conductance regulator. Characterization study found that shikonin inhibited basolateral K(+) channel activity without affecting Na(+)/K(+)-ATPase activities. In vivo studies revealed thatshikonin significantly delayed intestinal motility in mice and reduced stool water content in a neonatal mice model of rotaviral diarrhea without affecting the viral infection process in vivo. Taken together, the results suggested that shikonin inhibited enterocyte calcium-activated chloride channels, the inhibitory effect was partially through inhbition of basolateral K(+) channel activity, and shikonin could be a lead compound in the treatment of rotaviral secretory diarrhea.

Dr. Mercola: EPA Urged to Ban Brain Toxin "IndyWatch Feed Health"

An Update On Our Fundraiser

Yesterday, was a very big day for our efforts. We very quickly reached 200 donors which triggered a challenge grant of $1,000. Then in the mail we received a donation of $3,000 from a small foundation which has faithfully supported our efforts for several years. This along with several other individual donations brought our totals to $66,542 from 214 donors.

The 200th Donor

The 200th donor – Karen Lyke from Whitehouse, Ohio – wins a free copy of the book The Case Against Fluoride. I spoke to Karen on the phone yesterday afternoon and she said that she is going to give this book to her dentist. I asked why she supports this cause and she said, “The health of our people is the foundation of our survival.”

We are making substantial strides towards our goal of $150,000 by midnight, Dec 31 but we are still a long way from our goal of 1,000 donors. Remember the NUMBER of donors is CRUCIAL to us. Foundations know it is easy to like a Facebook page, but in their eyes a member is someone who puts money (even a little) into the cause in which they believe.

Thanks to an ongoing challenge from one of our super angels all pledges are being doubled until we reach $68,000.

To make a tax-deductible donation to the Fluoride Action Network, a project of the American Environmental Health Studies Project, you can either:

  • Donate online using our secure server.  If you should experience difficulty in donating at our secure server, please call Network For Good at 1-888-284-7978 and press option 3 to make your donation over the phone.
  • Or by check – please make checks payable to Fluoride Action Network and send to: FAN, c/o Connett, 104 Walnut Street, Binghamton NY 13905

Cajun Seasoning "IndyWatch Feed Food"

Cajun Seasoning
Homemade seasonings or spice blends are super easy to make and if you use them frequently, they are cheaper and you know exactly what goes into them. A seasoning that I use a lot is a Cajun or Creole seasoning and when I make my own I get to control the amount of salt in it which is important since a lot of store bought blends have a TON of salt. Canjun or Creole style seasonings typically consist of the following spices: paprika, thyme, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and cayenne. With the spicy heat provided by the cayenne in this mix it's also nice to be able to control that to make it as hot or mild as you desire! Another nice thing about homemade spice blends are that they make for great gifts for the holidays so that you can give the gift of flavour!

Check out all of the tasty recipe that I like to use this cajun seasoning in below the recipe!

Pretty Pain Pills, and Other News "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

Photo: Peter Juzak, via Wired

  • The thing I do most with Tylenol pills is orally ingest them to relieve pain—that’s just my personal preference. There are other things you can do. You can make a necklace out of them, I guess. Or you can smash them and look at them under a microscope, which is what the photographer Peter Juzak does. And his work—which reveals the candy-colored paradise hiding inside every little nugget of acetaminophen—suggests that this is a good thing to do. Laura Mallonee writes, “He started shooting acetaminophen four years ago. He grinds each tablet and pours the powder on a slide, which he heats on a hotplate to melt so the acetaminophen crystalizes. It can take anywhere from a few hours to sometimes a week or more … A single slide can yield hundreds of images, each exploding with phantasmic colors in shapes that resemble splintered glass.”

Shikonin enhances the chemotherapeutic sensitivity of gastric cancer cells to 5-fluorouracil and oxaliplatin. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Sci Rep. 2016 Dec 1 ;6:38267. Epub 2016 Dec 1. PMID: 27905569 Abstract Title:  Shikonin induces mitochondria-mediated apoptosis and enhances chemotherapeutic sensitivity of gastric cancer through reactive oxygen species. Abstract:  The prognosis of gastric cancer remains poor due to clinical drug resistance. Novel drugs are urgently needed. Shikonin (SHK), a natural naphthoquinone, has been reported to trigger cell death and overcome drug resistance in anti-tumour therapy. In this study, we investigated the effectiveness and molecular mechanisms of SHK in treatment with gastric cancer. In vitro, SHK suppresses proliferation and triggers cell death of gastric cancer cells but leads minor damage to gastric epithelial cells. SHK induces the generation of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), depolarizes the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) and ultimately triggers mitochondria-mediated apoptosis. We confirmed that SHK induces apoptosis of gastric cancer cells not only in a caspase-dependent manner which releases Cytochrome C and triggers the caspase cascade, but also in a caspase-independent manner which mediates the nuclear translocation of apoptosis-inducing factor and Endonuclease G. Furthermore, we demonstrated that SHK enhanced the chemotherapeutic sensitivity of 5-fluorouracil and oxaliplatin in vitro and in vivo. Taken together, our data show that SHK may be a novel therapeutic agent in the clinical treatment of gastric cancer.

Oh By the Way… Trump Won Wisconsin AGAIN in Recount: “Net 162 Votes” More "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

trump-wall

This article was written by Tyler Durden and originally published at Zero Hedge.

Editor’s Comment: So, that plan didn’t work. But are they done trying to stop the Trump presidency? Of course not. There is currently an effort underway to indoctrinate electors from the electoral college an intelligence briefing claiming that Russia interfered with the elections in order to install Trump… thereafter, they are hoping to stop the electoral college rubber stamp and have Congress select someone else altogether.

On the off chance that any of this happens, the country would rightfully revolt and things would devolve into chaos. The system is really playing with fire in order to scare the population straight, and sooth them back into compliance and easy management. They know the herd is spooked, and the word is going around. Can this chaos be contained? Or can they benefit from circulating it into the body politic?

Trump’s Wisconsin Victory Confirmed – Gained Net 162 Votes In Statewide Recount

by Tyler Durden

It’s official… again! Donald Trump remains the winner of Wisconsin following the statewide recount demanded by Jill Stein and paid for by sad snowflakes. After counting over 3 million ballots (at a cost of $3.5 million), Trump gained a net 162 votes…

As AP reports,

Republican Donald Trump’s victory in Wisconsin has been reaffirmed following a presidential recount that showed him defeating Democrat Hillary Clinton by more than 22,000 votes.

Trump picked up a net 162 votes as a result of the recount that the Wisconsin Elections Commission certified Monday. Green Party candidate Jill Stein requested and paid for the recount that began Dec. 1.

But after recounting nearly 3 million ballots, little changed. The final results changed by fewer than 1,800 votes.

Stein has also tried to get statewide recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania, but courts have stopped them. The federal deadline to certify the vote is Tuesday.

Snickerdoodles are a classic holiday cookie and the other day I had a crazy idea about them; How about apple flavoured snickerdoodles? Snickerdoodles are rolled in sugar and cinnamon which is the perfect companion to apple making these cookies even better! I wasn't done there! I had another idea, apple and caramel are amazing together so why not add caramel to the mix either by drizzling some sauce on top or by stuffing caramel into the cookies? It's so simple to stuff the cookies with chewing caramels before baking and when they come out of the oven the caramel is all nice and melted a oh so ooey, gooey and good! Recent Quantum Mechanics Research Says Time Travel Is Actually Possible "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

A team of scientists and researchers from various institutions made a controversial claim that shakes all conventional knowledge of space and time. They say that there are parallel universes with multiple timelines. If this claim is indeed real, then time travel is a possibility.

The research team was composed of Dr. Dirk-Andre Deckert from the University of California, Dr. Michael Hall, and Professor Howard Wiseman both from Griffith University’s Center for Quantum Dynamics in Australia. The team claims that the idea of a parallel universe is not science fiction.

They presented their theory in a paper titled “Many Interacting Worlds Theory” which was based on the “Many Worlds interpretation” theory which says that each universe branches out to a new universe every time a quantum measurement is created. This theory was originally formulated by Hugh Everett in 1957 but was popularized by Bryce Seligman DeWitt in the 60s and 70s calling it “many worlds.”

In their theory, Wiseman explains that these parallel universes are also governed by the same laws of physics as ours. The particles in each universe gives a subtle push against the other universes and this is the reason for all the quantum weirdness we experience in our universe.

He further explained that the best way to describe these parallel universes is to think of them as ghost universes– they exist in the same space as our universe; however, they are invisible because they interact with ours under very strict conditions.

When these conditions interact, Wiseman continued, they are just very minute using a force that that acts between similar particles in each universe. That is why we cannot feel or notice them but they are enough to explain quantum mechanics.

They mathematically demonstrated this theory through the classic double slit theory where single photons are fired individually at different times at a phosphorous screen that acts as a detector. Between the screen and the source, there is a black material with two slits in it that absorbs the photons.

The scientists reasoned out that if photons are just merely particle...

How about a Glass of Wine? "IndyWatch Feed Food"

Having a glass or two of wine, brandy, or a cocktail is perfectly in line with the grain-free lifestyle, but you must be selective. The price of a poor choice can be reigniting an autoimmune condition, provoking high blood sugar, triggering an inappropriate emotional outburst that ruins your evening, or regaining those undesired pounds. The reward for choosing wisely can be a wonderful time spent with friends without such problems. Do recognize that any amount of wine, cocktails, or beer can stall weight loss.

Navigating alcoholic beverages can be hazardous, as many are brewed from grains.

Wine is the safest choice in alcoholic beverages by a wide margin.Tweet this!

Wine is as close to a perfect wheat, grain, and gluten-free beverage as it gets, regardless of varietal or vintage. If you consider the probable health effects that can be derived from light wine drinking (no more than two 4-ounce glasses per day), wine is proving to be both pleasurable and healthy.

d12-big-wine-glass-10005518

The clear majority of wines are made without exposure to anything wheat, grain, or gluten. There is one rare exception: Because of a push to get away from animal-derived clarifying agents, such as gelatin derived from cows (due to bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or mad cow disease), winemakers have sought non-animal sources of clarifying agents. Clarifying agents are used to make wines clearer and more appealing to the consumer. Clarification removes residual grape skin, seeds, or stem debris; dead yeast cells; and various proteins. Among the most popular clarifying agent choices are bentonite, potassium sorbate, and sodium benzoate. However, some winemakers have lately turned to gluten or deamidated gluten for wine clarification. Thankfully, this remains an uncommon practice. I believe it will become less common as an increasingly number of us raise a stink about grain/gluten exposure in ANY food.

Our Friendsmas Dinner & Cookie Exchange "IndyWatch Feed Diy"

This past Sunday, we hosted a bunch of our friends for a "Friendsmas" dinner & cookie exchange. It's basically the same idea as Friendsgiving, except in December...which is even better because you get all the same good food plus Christmas cookies! We made a ham, deviled eggs, crescent rolls, and brussel sprouts, plus chocolate crinkles, candy cane cookies, and eggnog cookies. I partnered with Kendall-Jackson, who provided delicious wine, and our friends each brought a side dish and their favorite holiday cookie. I took a few photos before everyone arrived, and believe it or not this is the dessert spread before I added our guests' contributions. We still have a ton left, so I've been super tempted to eat cookies for breakfast this week!

Friendsmas cookie exchange

In addition to a plethora of cookies, we had this gorgeous dulce de leche cake that my sister-in-law made.

A balanced diet...

For decor, I got a vintage-style letter board from Lowell & Co, then added some bottle brush trees and ornaments.

DIY cork tree

I also made some mini trees out of wine corks and paper triangles, and used them to label the different options. If you want to add some competition to your cookie exchange/bake-off, it would be fun to number the cookies, then have people vote on their favorites!

A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.

EPA Urged to Ban Brain Toxin by Dr. Mercola "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Fluoride Action Network (FAN) is among a coalition of environmental, medical and health groups urging the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ban the addition of fluoride to public drinking water supplies.

The EPA has been served with a petition that includes more than 2,500 pages of scientific documentation detailing the risks of water fluoridation to human health.

In particular, the petition notes, “the amount of fluoride now regularly consumed by millions of Americans in fluoridated areas exceeds the doses repeatedly linked to IQ loss and other neurotoxic effects.”

The EPA is authorized, under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) to prohibit the use of a chemical that poses an unreasonable risk to the general public or particularly vulnerable populations.

EPA’s Own Risk Assessment Shows Water Fluoridation Poses an Unreasonable Health Risk

The petition urges the EPA to exert their authority to prohibit fluoridation additives in drinking water, noting that their own Guidelines for Neurotoxicity Risk Assessment shows:1

  • Neurotoxicity is a hazard of fluoride exposure
  • The reference dose that would reasonably protect against neurotoxicity is “incompatible with the doses now ingested by millions of Americans in fluoridated areas”

“In fact,” the petition states, “the amount of fluoride now regularly consumed by many people in fluoridated areas exceeds the doses repeatedly linked to IQ loss and other neurotoxic effects; with certain subpopulations standing at elevated risk of harm, including infants, young children, elderly populations and those with dietary deficiencies, renal impairment and/or genetic predispositions.”2

As for fluoride’s effects on the brain, in 2014 Lancet Neurology released a study, authored by a Harvard doctor, among others, that classified fluoride as a developmental neurotoxin.3 It wasn’t the first time....

Three Kid-Friendly Brussels Sprouts Recipes "IndyWatch Feed Food"

Brussels sprouts are an excellent source of protein, iron, and potassium. In addition, they contain immune-boosting and bioprotective ingredients including Vitamin C (which prevents cellular damage), fiber (for lowering risk of heart disease and stroke and maintaining the digestive system), folate (which reduces your risk of heart disease), and antioxidants. Unfortunately though, Brussels sprouts aren’t the most appealing or glamorous vegetable, probably because when they are overcooked they become a slimy, bitter mess.

I didn’t enjoy Brussels sprouts until college and even then only after coming across a restaurant that served them in a rich bacon butter. Studies show that it’s not uncommon for certain complex flavors to slowly be acquired over time. It may take up to eight times tasting a food or drink before you begin to like it. (Think about kids’ reactions when they first encounter coffee, beer, or sushi and you’ve got a pretty good idea about this phenomenon.) But kids who are exposed to and try a wide variety of vegetables on their plates (even if they don’t always finish them!) have better lifetime eating habits, as they will acquire those difficult/unusual tastes earlier.

We regularly cook Brussels sprouts at our house. My kids don’t always clean their plates, but the following recipes are pretty great at getting them to eat a few bites of this highly nutritious veggie. As an added bonus, two of these dishes will take you less than 15 minutes to make from start to finish.

BRUSSELS SPROUTS WITH BACON AND RAISINS

Remember what I said about the bacon trick? This dish makes use of a little bit of bacon and a handful of raisins to add a rich, complex. Kids who love a little sweetness will appreciate the flavor balancing that happens in this hearty side dish. Goes great with a steak.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1 pound trimmed, halved Brussels sprouts
  • Salt and pepper
  • ¼ cup golden raisins
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

Heat oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat. Add bacon and cook until crisp. Transfer bacon to paper towels to drain and let cool.

While bacon cools, add Brussels sprouts to drippings in skil...

10 fascinating facts about the Antikythera Mechanism: A ‘computer’ created over 2000 years ago "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

The Antikythera mechanism is considered the FIRST analog computer in history. Researchers have still no idea who built it, what it was exactly used for, when it was built and where.

Discovered in 1900 among the remains of a shipwreck, and regarded as the first computer made by humans, the Antikythera mechanism remained a mystery for almost a century, until in 2006 British and American scientists began to figure out how the artifact, composed of about thirty gears worked. It is believed to have been created by the ancient Greeks sometime between 200 and the 100 BC. All known fragments of the Antikythera mechanism are kept at the National Archaeological Museum, in Athens.

Researchers are still studying the mechanism and believe there may still be several hidden functions in the mechanism itself.

In this article, we bring you 10 bewildering facts about the first computer created by man, thousands of years ago.

The mechanism was found by sponge fishermen near the Antikythera (or Anticythera) island among the remains of a shipwreck. Although the object is of Greek origin, it is believed to have been part of a treasure destined for Julius Caesar. The shipwreck occurred in the 1st century BC.

Fortune was not kind with the divers who discovered the artifact: one died, and two were paralyzed, victims of the so-called “raptures of the deep” (nitrogen poisoning) and decompression, little or totally unknown at the beginning of the twentieth century. The remains of the ship  carrying the artifact were located at a depth of 47 meters.

Before the invention of digital computers, there were analog computers, ranging from calculation rules to devices to calculate the movement of tides. The Antikythera mechanism would be the first analog computer in history.

The origin of the Antikythera Mechanism is not known with certainty, although some experts believe it may have been created in one of the colonies of Corinth: Pergamon , where the second most important library of the antiquity was located, after the library of Alexandria. Rhodes, because it is believed that the ship came from that port, and where an important center of astronomy and mechanics was located; and Syracuse, where the school of Archimedes was located.

According to scholars, at least three important Romans are linked to this artifact. According to Professor Xenophon Moussas of the University of Athens, who stated in 2006 that the ship could have been carrying a booty of the sacking of Athens by General Sila, in 87 BC. Supposedly, the mechanism was destined for the triumphal parade of Julius Caesar. It has also been noted that around the sa...

BBC claim massive ice loss spreading up Antarctic glaciers! Just 3 weeks after NASA claim the Antarctic has been gaining 112 to 82 billion tons of ice a year since 1992. "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Photo Watts Up With That? Antarctic is gaining billions of tons per year since last century
Proof of
the left’s agenda on Global warming as left-wing media giants the BBC claim “massive
Ice loss spreading up Antarctic glaciers!” When actually a three week old NASA
report claims the Antarctic has been gaining 112 to 82 billion tons of ice a
year since 1992.
They, the
BBC, go on to say,  The scale and pace of
change now taking place in West Antarctica is captured in a new, long-term
satellite record.
Scientists
have combined nearly a quarter of a century of observations to show how the
region’s great glaciers are losing height by up to 7 meters per year, more on
this later.
Their unlikely
story comes just three weeks after NASA claimed the Antarctic ice sheet showed
a net gain of 112 billion tons of ice a year from 1992 to 2001, slowing to 82
billion tons of ice per year between 2003 and 2008.
The new
NASA study says that an increase in Antarctic snow accumulation that began
10,000 years ago is currently adding enough ice to the continent to outweigh
the increased losses from its thinning glaciers. The research challenges the
conclusions of other studies, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change’s (IPCC) 2013 report, which says that Antarctica is overall losing land
ice. According to the new analysis of satellite data, the Antarctic ice sheet
showed a net gain of 112 billion tons of ice a year from 1992 to 2001. That net
gain slowed to 82 billion tons of ice per year between 2003 and 2008. That is
112 to 82 billion tons a year GAIN NOT LOSS.
And in the
same week Scott and Shackleton logbooks prove Antarctic sea ice is not
shrinking 100 years after e...

Vivid dreaming - intense emotional material - phone numbers "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

a colleague at work intimated to me that (they were tired because) they'd been having really intense dreams lately. I concurred with this, "Me too," I said. Just the last few days? Yes. Maybe it's an Electric Universe thing, where intensified electromagnetic forces drive our heightened consciousness, or something. Maybe the Earth is in for a pole shift. Maybe it's the pixies, pickling our pineals...

Anyway, yes emotionally intense dream content, vivid, lifelike, electrically charged, actually based in the Dreaming Room in some occassions, have been the order of the last few nights. Also, phone numbers, or at least what I took to be phone numbers. Doing some directory research on these, however, just highlights how dominant these number combinations are on the international phone lists of Europe and the Rest of the World such that (other than random number generation for the sake of my dreaming mind's hilarious mischief) I have no idea what numerical relevance this can have, if anything.

Here are the two numbers I woke up, with a conscious intent to remember...

Birmingham : ‘Catastrophic Cuts’ warns Chief Executive "IndyWatch Feed Education"

A few weeks ago I started to write something about my sense of a  youth sector, which seems to inhabit parallel universes, one in which smug ‘selfies’ with Tory Ministers circulate, whilst in the other the Tories’ assault on youth work not of its liking continues unabated.  As I collect material on this phenomenon the task is getting out of hand. Perhaps, for what it’s worth, it will see the light of day in the New Year. In the meantime I’ll post some of the ‘cuttings’ informing my ruminations.

Birmingham council chief: years of cuts could have catastrophic consequences

brummies

Mark Rogers, who runs the biggest council in England, said the effects of six years of austerity meant Birmingham’s youth service had “all but gone”, homelessness prevention services had been cut by so much that rough sleeping had quadrupled, and far fewer elderly people were eligible for care at home.

The council has almost halved its headcount since 2008, from around 24,000 to 12,500, and says staff numbers could be as low as 8,000 by 2020. By that point the council will have made £800m worth of cuts since the era of austerity began in 2010, and expects to have lost 50% of its grant from central government.

Rogers also highlighted cuts to council youth services. “The youth service has all but gone. In 2010 it would have been seen as one of the exemplar programmes in the country, we would have had dozens of youth services. Now we hav...

The 10 Best (and Five Worst) TV Shows of 2016 "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Images: Westworld, HBO; Damien A&E The Expanse, Syfy

Unlike pretty much everything else, science fiction and fantasy had a great 2016. There were so many great shows that we had a lot of contenders for our best list, and only a few for our worst, so we ended up with twice as many TV series to acclaim as disparage. After a fair amount of debate, here’s the best of the best and worst of the meh.

The 10 Best TV Shows of 2016

1) The Expanse

While there are buzzier shows on this list, there is nothing quite as satisfying as The Expanse, which is the truest Syfy’s been to its name in a long time. It started strong in the end of 2015, but ended even stronger in 2016. And while superheroes, dragons, and robots have been all over TV in the last few years, space has not found nearly as much success. The Expanse is a true space opera, and it’s a near-perfect example of the genre, with tight writing and compelling characters. For a show that has solar system-spanning danger and wonderfully realized characters, it’s hard to beat The Expanse.

Medieval Doodler Draws a “Rockstar Lady” in a Manuscript of Boethius’ The Consolation of Philosophy (Circa 1500) "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Sloane 554 f 53

By the early 6th century, the Western Roman Empire had effectively come to an end after the deposition of the final emperor and the installation of Germanic kings. Under the second such ruler, Theodoric the Great, emerged one of the most influential works of literature of the European Middle Ages: The Consolation of Philosophy. Its author, senator and philosopher Boethius, wrote the text while imprisoned and awaiting execution.

A conversation the despondent author has with his muse, Lady Philosophy, the book seeks the nature of happiness and the nature of God, in the midst of great loss, disgrace, and tyranny. The Consolation of Philosophy belongs to a long tradition of prison literature that extends to Don Quixote, “Civil Disobedience,” and “Letter from a Birmingham Jail.” Almost a thousand years after Boethius’s 524 execution, one late Medieval reader of his book—perhaps inspired by the text, or not—left the drawing you see above on the last page of a 15th century English illuminated manuscript.

Interview with a UFO Researcher and Author "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

I dare say, most of you reading this will never have heard of Paul Ascough.  There is nothing wrong with that but I can personally vouch for him.  I have known Paul for over twenty years, and, unfortunately, we accidentally lost contact with each other for far too long.  Earlier in 2016, I was extremely pleased to meet up with him again and even more pleased to discover he was just about to publish his first book. In order to discover who Paul Ascough is, and what his book is all about, I took time out to interview him, recently, the result of which is as follows.

Philip Mantle: Who is Paul Ascough? Tell us a bit about yourself?

Paul Ascough

Paul Ascough

Paul Ascough: I was born in West Yorkshire to a working class family. I left school with little in the way of qualifications. For some reason, I became interested in medicine and began my career as a student nurse, attending college and completing my training for a State Registered Nurse qualification. After a spell as an occupational nurse for the Coal Board, and working in the road laying team underground, I joined the Army as an infantry medic, rising to the dizzy heights of Staff Sergeant and seeing service in many countries.

Though serving as a medic throughout my career, I was a trained observer for the reconnaissance platoon teaching aircraft and vehicle recognition. I was fortunate to be stationed in Berlin during the cold war, crossing over to East Berlin at Checkpoint Charlie on several occasions, and observing the Russian helicopters observing us over the divide of the famous wall and the bizarre open spaces of no-mans land with its goon towers, mines and tank traps.

Finally, leaving the Army and joining the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, where I have remained as a Paramedic until my retirement.

Mantle: The Real Story is the title of your book. Could you give us an overview of the book, please?

Ascough: I have called my book The Real Story because this is the way I perceive our place in the world to be. It is my story of personal experiences with religion, the paranormal and UFOs, that have led me to the conclusions reached in the book, of what I believe the reality and the truth of what the real story actually is.

Mantle: How and when did you first become interested in the UFO phenomenon?

Are these the types of Cosmic Energy Waves we’re in right now? Hold on to your Hats!! (and let Ken Bradshaw show you how to ride ’em!!) "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXOLvvIjXx8

Published on Dec 12, 2016
Ken Bradshaw surfing giant waves at big-wave break Outside log cabins, located on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, between Waimea Bay and Pipeline. In 1998. Outside Log Cabins is the site of one of the biggest waves ever surfed, a 40- or 45-footer (about 60 or 70 feet from trough to crest) ridden by Hawaiian big-wave veteran Ken Bradshaw in 1998.

A right-breaking wave, Outside Log Cabins—also known as Outer Logs—forms over a reef located three-quarters of a mile offshore. It requires a huge North Pacific winter swell, doesn’t begin to take shape until the waves are nearly 20 feet, and might come into full-blown form just two or three times a decade. Shiftier and more lined up than the waves found at Jaws on Maui, Log Cabins can produce rides of more than 400 yards, with the curl often pitching out to form monolithic tube sections.

Big-wave zealot Jose Angel built a house in front of Log Cabins in the early ’70s, choosing the location in part so that he could study the break and see if it could be ridden. He never tried. In early December 1986, with a 25-foot swell running, Bradshaw and local surfer Trevor Sifon became the first to surf Outer Logs, each paddling into a 20-foot wave before getting caught inside and washed ashore by a 30-foot set. “It’s probably the ultimate big wave,” surf journalist Leonard Brady wrote of Log Cabins two years later, adding that the break probably wasn’t ridable “using standard paddling take-offs.” Fewer than a half-dozen attempts were made on Outer Logs over the next nine years.

In the early ’90s, a small group of big-wave surfers did in fact discard the paddling takeoff and towed each other in to huge waves from behind jetskies; on January 28, 1998, with Outer Logs producing what many were calling the best big surf of the decade, it was ridden by tow-in surfers only. Bradshaw caught his enormous wave at about 10:00 A.M.; six other tow-in teams rode throughout the day. Video footage from January 28 was used in The Moment (1998), Biggest Wednesday (1998), and other surf videos; 70-millimeter film shot from a helicopter was used to create a breathtaking 10-minute sequence for Extreme, a 1999 IMAX movie.

Iron-willed big-wave rider from Sunset Beach, Hawaii; winner of the 1982 Duke Kahanamoku Classic; often credited as the first surfer to ride a 40-foot wave. Bradshaw was born (1952) in Houston, Texas, the son of powerful steel industrialist. An All-City linebacker...

rt_cube_logo_150_39[Kp update: added a Paul Joseph Watson video at the end for those who want some additional (high energy presentation) data.]

This is also related to the prior Lada Ray article.

These are the two videos I spoke of in the last post, which discuss and refute the hacking allegations. The second one is a collection of a few short pieces about this (although the dark haired guy denigrating those who were protesting the Trump victory was not something I align with).

Both videos address how the meme of “fake news” is being used to promote this. And clearly that meme is blowing back in their faces.

NASA: Lost Civilization May Exist Beneath Antarctica "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Photo’s released by NASA appear to vindicate the conspiracy theory that an ancient civilization exists beneath the Antarctica ice sheets.

The huge icy continent is thought to have once been home to the Lost City of Atlantis over 12,000 years ago, when large parts of Antartica were ice-free.

Photo’s released earlier this year from NASA appear to verify these claims, as images taken by NASA’s Operation IceBridge mission show what internet detectives claim to be a “lost underground city”.

Google Earth images also show a pyramid poking out of the ice, which some experts claim is further evidence of an ancient city.

Daily Star reports:

Professor Charles A Hapgood, a history expert from the US, first published a paper in the 1950s that said movement in the Earth’s crust meant that only 11,600 years ago large parts of Antarctica were totally ice free.

He said evidence of this was in the 500-year-old Piri Reis map – a world map drawn up by the Ottoman admiral of the same name.

A number of scholars who have examined the map claim it clearly shows the west coast of Africa, the east coast of South America and the northern coast of Antarctica – but not covered in sheet ice.

US Air Force Lt. Colonel Harold Z Ohlmeyer sent a letter in 1960 to Professor Hapgood saying his theory on the Piri Reis map was correct.

He wrote: “The geographical detail shown in the lower part of the map agrees very remarkably with the results of the seismic profile made across the top of the ice-cap by the Swedish-British Antarctic Expedition of 1949.

“This indicates the coastline had been mapped before it was covered by the ice-cap. This part of Antarctica [is] ice free.

“The ice-cap in this region is now about a mile thick.”

Conspiracists now think Hapgood was right and he discovered that much of the south pole was ice free – and also the location of The Lost City of Atlantis.

The existence of this mythical utopia was first mentioned in the writings by ancient Greek philosopher Plato in 360 BC.

The Atlantis that Plato described was founded by people who were half god and half human around 9,000 years before his own time.

If it did exist, this would be at a similar time that Professor Hapgood said shifts had occurred in the Earth’s crust.

And just a month ago further proof of an Antarctica Atlantis emerged in the form of pictures what appears to be huge pyramid...

'It could be a BATTLE GROUND' Supermoon will spark Christmas family rows, psychic claims "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Spending excessive time with the family over the festive season is already stressful, but psychic Rose Smith claims that the supermoon, which will appear on December 14, will only make matters worse.

The impending supermoon will be the third in as many months and Ms Smith, head of psychic network Absolute Soul Secrets, says that this could increase tension.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Ms Smith said: “Basically this has been building up for a few months.

“Supermoons are not unusual, we get several a year, but it is unusual to have three in a row and to have them at the end of the year and at the end of the ‘9’ cycle.

“There is a lot of stress in the aether, and a lot of pent up emotions built up over time. People have to tighten the reins on their tongues otherwise feelings might come out all over the place.”

She believes that the extra gravitational pull from the supermoon will have an impact on our bodies, which in turn will affect our mindset.

Ms Smith continued: “I think it will be absolutely frantic, we have the full moon in two days.

“Christmas is a stressful time anyway and people say or do things during Christmas they wouldn’t normally say. But this Christmas is the last in the cycle, there will be increased pressure.

“It could be a battle ground. I would be going early if you haven’t already done your Christmas shopping.

“I would have a battle plan as things will probably not go the way you anticipate with all the extra activity going on in the aether.”

The Difficult Art of Counter-Criticism: Rebecca Solnit on Celebrating Complexity, Savoring the Unquantifiable, and Defying the Urge to Simplify and Contain "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

“There is a kind of counter-criticism that … can liberate a work of art, to be seen fully, to remain alive, to engage in a conversation that will not ever end but will instead keep feeding the imagination.”

The Difficult Art of Counter-Criticism: Rebecca Solnit on Celebrating Complexity, Savoring the Unquantifiable, and Defying the Urge to Simplify and Contain

“Behind the cotton wool is hidden a pattern… the whole world is a work of art,” Virginia Woolf wrote in her sublime meditation on the recognition of subtleties and interconnections at the heart of creative work. “There is no Shakespeare, there is no Beethoven; certainly and emphatically there is no God; we are the words; we are the music; we are the thing itself.” And yet in the lapse between Woolf’s time and ours, we have lost sight of our thingness and ceased seeing the pattern behind the cotton wool. Ours is an age bedeviled by the urge — an urge bearing the ominous compulsiveness of addiction — to reduce, flatten, and simplify what is more expansive, dimensional, and complex than can be easily understood. Too often, we choose this ease — the ease of reflexive reactions and instant opinions — over the difficult but nourishing work of consideration. As if the sensationalist headlines of the news media weren’t corrosive enough to the contemplative necessities of the human spirit, even our cultural commentary on such supreme temples of contemplation as literature and art has taken on the same predatory tendency to traffic in simplistic, often sadistic criticism that impoverishes the conversation and our collective conscience of nuance.

But there is another way — an antidote that, by countering these poisonous narratives, enriches and perhaps even saves our interior lives. That antidote is what Rebecca Solnit, unparalleled high priestess of nuance and intelligent contemplation, explores in a piece titled “Woolf’s Darkness: Embracing the Inexplicable,” found in her subversive and sanctifying essay collection...

White House press secretary Josh Earnest made the case against Trump at the daily briefing on Monday.

“Earnest implied that as the Republican presidential nominee Trump “benefitted” from cyberattacks on his main rival while “his campaign did not make any effort to obscure this.” Earnest has directly accused Trump not only of turning a blind eye to Russia’s “attempt to destabilize our political system,” but even ordering Moscow to attack Hillary Clinton.

Ecstasy Has Been Approved for Trial Treatment of PTSD "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

In a surprise turn of events, the F.D.A is now moving forward on a study that is using Ecstasy as a medicinal treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. This particular study, which was approved Tuesday, would be the last necessary measure before the legalization of the drug.

Ecstasy, otherwise known as MDMA, and “Molly”, has been a party drug for many years. If you went to a “Rave” back in the early 2000’s you would likely find it among those who were playing with glowsticks, and dancing the night away to techno music.

Oddly enough, according to the National Institutes of Health, the drug was created in the early 1900’s by Germany. Later, in the 1970’s a small group of psychiatrists began using the drug on psychiatric patients, under government supervision. It was later before the drug then hit the club scene, sometime around the 1980’s to be specific. At that point, the government placed an outright ban on the substance.

If this study turned out well, patients could begin using MDMA as an approved treatment by as early as 2021. The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies is conducting the trial which will include 230 case subjects. The organization has conducted previous studies on the drugs effectiveness for sexual assault victims, as well as firefighters and police officers who were suffering from the disease.

The new trial, which is considered a phase three trial, will involve giving the patients the drug just three times per month, along with long talk therapy sessions, that will be applied to weekly sessions without the drug.

Currently, Ecstasy is listed by the FDA as a schedule 1 drug, which means that the FDA considers it to have no medicinal value whatsoever. However, if the phase three trials go over well, and show otherwise, the FDA will move forward towards the legalization of MDMA as a new treatment option for those suffering from previous trauma.

“Moving from phase two to phase three shows we have strong scientific reason to believe that MDMA is an effective treatment for PTSD in therapy. The fact the FDA is ready to move forward with phase three signals that they agree,” said Brad Burge, from the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (Maps), a not-for-profit based in Santa Cruz, California, that has pushed for MDMA to be used for medicinal purposes.

While the treatment has been shown to work for the majority of patients, there i...

DARPA’s Deepweb Search Engine Just Got a Lot Smarter "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

http://ift.tt/2hhbQX0

In 2014, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency—or DARPA—announced a groundbreaking program for internet searches. DARPA developed the Memex Program to search the internet, including hidden services, and “any public domain content.” The program started, though, as a tool for discovering human trafficking. Now, according to VentureBeat, DARPA just boosted their glorified search engine.

On December 1, 2016, IST Research—a human security company—acquired Rescue Forensics (RF). Rescue Forensics, in their words, delivered “actionable human trafficking intelligence” to agencies worldwide. IST worked with DARPA since 2012, IST founder Ryan Paterson said. IST, Rescue Forensics, and DARPA’s Memex will now hunt for human traffickers with their combined internet skill set.

IST Research’s success majorly originated from their proprietary Pulse Platform. The Pulse Platform’s particular method of action remains classified, for the most part. IST Research summarized the platform in the Pulse section of the group’s website. “Pulse collects, analyzes, and visualizes both online data and data collected directly from populations of interest,” the site explained.

The Project “LUCID”

The idea was to create a surreal world based on simple geometric light shapes that seem misplaced, but somehow blend with its surrounding at the same time. Shapes that emphasize the mood of its surrounding in the most simple way. By installing electroluminescent light shapes and wires in untouched landscapes, a single lightsource tells a surreal story of magic and loneliness in a surreal and intense way. Every environment has its own light installation.
The intention was to summarize all installations in a cinematographic way to create a touching short film.

Former Ambassador Andrew Young Calls for End to Water Fluoridation, 'Civil Rights Issue' "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Anti-fluoridation activists in Georgia received a major boost of support when former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under Jimmy Carter, Andrew Young, sent a letter to Georgia Governor Nathan Deal and House Speaker David Ralston demanding hearings to investigate why water fluoridation is being continued in the state despite all the reasons to end it.

Ambassador Young is asking for a written response. His letter was also sent to the CEO of the American Water Works Association, David LaFrance.

“What’s clear to me is that we need a repeal of Georgia’s water fluoridation law, and hearings to look into how fluoridation has continued all these years, long after there were plenty of reasons to end it,” Ambassador Young wrote.

“This is a civil rights issue, and the people have the right to have the full story given to them, rather than highly edited, misleading talking points.”

EPA Urged to Ban Brain Toxin "IndyWatch Feed Health"

By Dr. Mercola

In particular, the petition notes, "the amount of fluoride now regularly consumed by millions of Americans in fluoridated areas exceeds the doses repeatedly linked to IQ loss and other neurotoxic effects."

As for fluoride’s effects on the brain, in 2014 Lancet Neurology released a study, authored by a Harvard doctor, among others, that classified fluoride as a developmental neurotoxin.3 It wasn’t the first time.

In 2012, a meta-analysis, also by Harvard researchers, clearly showed that children exposed to fluoride in drinking water had lower IQs, by an average of seven points, in areas with raised concentrations.4

Don't Feed Your Child Cheerios "IndyWatch Feed Health"

By Dr. Mercola

General Mills' Cheerios are one of the first solid foods many parents feed to their children. They're small, convenient and easy to chew — and there's even a section on the Cheerios website for "new parents who have invited … original Cheerios to introduce their children to finger foods."1

The site states that toddlers age 9 months and older are typically ready for Cheerios, and even touts "the fact that 4 of 5 pediatricians recommend Cheerios as a finger food." You may further believe Cheerios to be a good choice because they don't contain genetically engineered (GE) ingredients.

Oats are the primary ingredient (there are no GE oats), and the corn starch and sugar they contain come from non-GMO corn and non-GMO cane sugar. So why the warning against this family favorite?

Cheerios and Other Popular Processed Foods Contain Glyphosate Residue

Despite their GMO-free status, testing completed at Anresco, a laboratory registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), found glyphosate residues in Cheerios as well as other popular foods.

Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup herbicide, has made headlines recently because it's the most used agricultural chemical in history and also because the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) determined it is a probable carcinogen.

Despite its prevalence, we don't know exactly how much glyphosate may be in your food because the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) does not test for it.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced in February 2016 that it would begin testing some foods for glyphosate, but the testing was put on hold in November.2 In the meantime private organizations have been conducting tests on their own.

The latest tests, conducted by the nonprofit organizations Food Democracy Now and The Detox Project, were done via liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), which is considered the most reliable for analyzing glyphosate residues.3

Twenty-nine common foods were tested, with glyphosate residues found in a variety of products, including Doritos, Oreos, Stacy's Pita Chips and the following:...

Vaccine Failures Keep Mounting — When Will Studies Pointing Out Flaws Result in Healthy Changes? "IndyWatch Feed Health"

By Dr. Mercola

Do routine vaccinations actually protect us from disease? The fact that repeated outbreaks among vaccinated populations keep occurring suggests that many vaccines are ineffective and do not work as advertised.

One of the most obvious vaccine failures is the mumps vaccine, which is part of the measles, mumps and rubella, otherwise known as the MMR vaccine.

In 2010, two virologists filed a federal lawsuit against Merck, their former employer, alleging the vaccine maker used improper testing methods and falsified data to artificially inflate the efficacy rating of their mumps vaccine.

For details on how they allegedly pulled this off, read Dr. Suzanne Humphries' excellent summary,1 which explains in layman's terms how the tests were manipulated.

So why are people still surprised when mumps outbreaks occur? And why are most disease outbreaks still blamed on the unvaccinated minority when most of the infected are in fact often "fully" vaccinated majority?

Second Mumps Outbreak in Vaccinated Populations This Year Strengthens Questions About MMR Effectiveness

This past summer, more than 40 Harvard University students came down with mumps. According to the public health department in Cambridge, every single one of them had been vaccinated.2 Arkansas is now battling an outbreak of mumps that began in August.

As of December 2, 1,824 people had contracted the disease,3 despite 90 to 95 percent of school aged children and 30 to 40 percent of adults involved in the outbreak having been "fully immunized," according to the Arkansas State Health Department (ADH).4,5,6,7

On September 12, 40/29 News covering Fort Smith and Fayetteville, Arkansas, reported that:...

CIA Secret Assessment 'Confirms' Russian Hack of US Election — Do You Buy It? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The alleged, purported, supposed Russian hack of the 2016 US presidential election is now a “fact”. Or so says the US CIA (Central Intelligence Agency).

The US Government and its lapdog mainstream media (led by the now disgraced and lying Washington Post) are continuing to push the Russian hack theme, hoping to cement the concept in the minds of the populace.

The Post article is making claims which are predicated on the unverified assertions of anonymous officials, who are in turn making their own claims about what the CIA has supposedly confirmed and concluded – but all in secret. You can’t see it because it’s “classified” and “national security”.

Let’s Refresh Our Memory About the CIA

Before we go any further, let’s remember who we’re dealing with here. The CIA is a dark and nefarious organization that has spent most of its existence illegally running drugs and weapons, experimenting with drugs like LSD on its citizens, conducting mind control on innocent victims (e.g. MK Ultra), overthrowing foreign governments (regime change), sending out hit squads to murder political opponents and conducting assassinations of whoever gets in its way (e.g. popular US presidents).

Nothing says trustworthy like the CIA. Now, we are told a “secret assessment”
of the CIA has just “confirmed” the Russian hack. Do you believe it?

Hillary Furious After Wisconsin Recount Increases Her Loss "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Hillary Clinton lost Wisconsin by over 22,000 votes as the finalised recount total on Monday reaffirmed Donald Trump’s victory in the state.

Hillary Clinton is reported to be “furious” after Donald Trump picked up an extra 162 votes following Jill Stein’s $3.5 million push to recount ballots in the state.

Despite arguments from Green Party candidate Jill Stein that voting machines in Wisconsin were susceptible to hacking, the recount results prove, once and for all, that Russia did not hack the election – Hillary simply lost.

Madison.com reports:

On Monday the boards of canvassers in the final four counties — Dane, Milwaukee, Outagamie and Rock — certified their results. Dane County was the last to complete ballot-counting, on Saturday night.

The recount of nearly 3 million votes began Dec. 1 after Green Party candidate Jill Stein paid the estimated $3.5 million cost.

The actual cost won’t be known until counties report their costs by Dec. 30. Stein will be responsible for paying any amount over the original estimate and will be refunded if the cost is less.

Last week a federal judge rejected a lawsuit by Trump supporters seeking to halt the recount. Stein’s campaign has said the goal of the recount was to affirm the validity of the election amid concerns about foreign powers trying to influence the outcome of the election.

Gov. Scott Walker expressed appreciation for the work done by the state’s 72 county clerks and hundreds of full-time, part-time and temporary employees.

“They’ve shown all throughout this process that it was very clear that the vote was legitimate here in the state,” Walker said.

Elections commissioner Don Millis on Monday criticized...

Recently Declassified Document Suggests that Thousands of People May Have Superhuman Powers "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Written by

A recently declassified document that was unearthed through the Freedom of Information Act, suggests that the Chinese government has conducted massive-scale studies on superhuman powers like telepathy, psychokinesis, approbation, aerokinesis, clairsentience, clairaudience, and more. The US Central Intelligence Agency was appraised of these studies, and could have conducted similar investigations, all while keeping the results hidden from the general public.

The document titled, “Chronology of Recent Interest in Exceptional Functions of The Human Body in the People’s Republic of China” can be found on the CIA’s website, and details studies which the Chinese government and other agencies funded to test thousands of children to see if they had superhuman abilities.

The government was so interested in the possibility of these superhuman individuals, that hundreds of testing centers were set up across China. Though they do not reveal the results, except for the mention of one individual, a Qi Gong grandmaster, Zhang Baosheng, who was able to ‘smell’ the contents of messages written on folded slips of paper, and once relocated physical objects from inside sealed containers to another location. Baosheng was named by high-ranking communist leaders as a “healer with extraordinary powers” in the 1980s. Baosheng was later arrested for fraud in 1995. It is said that he and others of the Qi Gong movement took a ‘shortcut to scientific exploration’ and utilized weird science and superstition to promote their abilities.

This isn’t to say that Baosheng and others don’t have superhuman skills. There are numerous studies that are publicaly available, con...

Want to Reduce How Often You Feel Sad, Stressed or Depressed? Then Learn How to Supercharge Your Dopamine Levels "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

First of all what is dopamine?

Dopamine is a chemical in your brain that affects your emotions, movements and your sensations of pleasure and pain. Dopamine neurotransmitters are located in the deep middle region of your brain called the substantia nigra.

In particular dopamine is responsible for controlling some very important functions that we are rely on heavily such as:

  • Controlling the centre of pleasure and reward in the brain
  • Regulating your body’s movement
  • Assists on maintaining and improving your cognitive functions such as knowledge, attention, memory and problem solving and so forth.
  • Regulating the secretion of prolactin. Prolactin is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. It’s also known as PRL or lactogenic hormone. Prolactin is mainly used to help women produce milk after childbirth. It’s important for both male and female reproductive health

Midbrain in the brain. Computer artwork of a person's head showing the brain inside. The highlighted area shows the midbrain. The midbrain, or mesencephalon, is part of the brainstem. It is the smallest region of the brain and acts as a relay station for auditory and visual information. It controls many important functions including the visual and auditory systems, and eye movement. The substantia nigra in the midbrain contains a large number of dopamine-producing neurons, the degeneration of which is associated with Parkinson's disease.

So as you can see our bodies and mind rely heavily on dopamine so if we happen to be producing low levels of dopamine then this can manifest itself in a number of very unpleasant ways such as increased health issues and poor mental well-being such as depression and other emotional issues.

Autistic Boy Gains Ability to Speak After Just 2 Days of Cannabis Oil Treatment "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

by ANTIMEDIA

At 10 months of age, Kalel Santiago of Puerto Rico was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called neuroblastoma. He endured chemotherapy, radiation treatments, and surgery for two years—and survived. Then he was diagnosed with something permanent: severe autism that disabled him from speaking.

“While he was in the hospital, we noticed he didn’t speak at all and had some behavior that wasn’t right, like hand flapping, and walking on his toes,” his father Abiel Gomez Santiago told Yahoo News. “But we waited until he was 3 and cancer-free to look at his behavior.”

According to Yahoo, “He and his wife Gladys — also parents to two older boys, now 18 and 20 — did a cram course in educating themselves on autism. They tried various schools and therapies and eventually found impressive success with a unique surf-therapy school near their home.”

Eventually, the Santiago family stumbled upon a treatment of real potency and potential: CBD oil.

Through a fundraising program, they were able to receive a tiny bottle of the oil. Kalel was given oral doses twice a day.

Stop Using Cotton Buds Immediately: Doctor Discovered The Most Effective Way For Cleaning Your Ears "IndyWatch Feed Food"

Most of us use cotton buds to clean the ears from wax and dirt, but apparently, they do more harm than good. According to experts, the regular use of cotton buds lead to serious health issues and might even cause inflammation or obstruction.

Moreover, according to the famous popular Dr. David Gill, an American pediatrician, the ear wax should not be removed by force from the ear, but to use some more efficient methods.

According to him, the needed ingredients are already in your kitchen cabinet. You should soak a piece of cotton in some oil and place it into the ear in order to soften the earwax.

Next, just shake the head to move the earwax towards the outer canal. Then, wait for 3 minutes, and apply several drops of the oil into the ear.

If this method does not help you, mix medicinal alcohol and vinegar in equal amounts, and wash the ears with this mixture.

Yet, you can choose the method you prefer, but make sure you no longer use cotton buds in order to avoid any side-effects.

Tech Breakthrough Could Trigger The Next US Oil Boom "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

The following analysis from leading online publication OilPrice.com is a paid advertorial.

As far as the markets are concerned, OPEC’s 32.5-million bpd output cut deal agreed to two weeks ago could go either way, and the uncertainty makes it anyone’s guess—but MCW Energy, the pioneer of breakthrough clean oil sands extraction in Utah, is not concerned:

If oil prices remain low, its production costs are dramatically reduced, and in any scenario, its breakthrough technology makes everything from Utah’s vast oil sands to the Permian Basin’s massive offerings easier to extract.

When you combine MCW’s immunity from oil price vulnerability with a Utah play that has an estimated 87 million barrels of proven reserves worth about $3.4 billion in today’s market, can produce at a market-defying $27/barrel and is the first technology to offer a clean, safe and efficient way to get oil sands out of the ground and pump more from the giant Permian Basin, you have a company poised for massive gains in the New Year.

For all those oil sands skeptics out there: This isn’t Canada, where production is presently prohibitively expensive, and oil sands are equated with toxic trailing ponds that make environmental issues a major hurdle.

This is Utah, and more precisely, it’s Asphalt Ridge, in the heart of the western Green River Formation, where MCW Energy has been cleaning Utah’s oil sands and selling it off since the beginning of this year, with plant capacity now being augmented to 500bbl/day. And it’s all being done with zero water and zero trailing ponds.

But there is an even bigger play going on behind the scenes here—beyond the revolutionary oil sands developments: MCW’s proprietary technologies can boost production and reserve values and unlock the potential of sizable assets, not only from their estimated 89 million barrels in Utah, but also from an estimated 168 million barrels they’ve recently scooped up in Texas’ prolific Permian Basin—just for starters. This is where top producers such as Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (NYSE:APC), Apache Corp. (NYSE:APA), BHP Billiton (NYSE:BHP) and Chevron Corp. (NYSE:CVX) are gathering in full force to tap America’s oldest and most prolific basin whose best days are still ahead of it.

Cover ups of Ritual Abuse in US 2 - The Finders & CIA "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Secret CIAs child abduction operation

A 1994 reference work- on utopian communities refers to the Finders as "a rather spontaneous non-organization ... Their overall approach to life is to make it into a game--a challenging and educational process where the rules change from week to week, day to day, sometimes even by the hour." Contrast that with investigator Ted Gunderson's handwritten description, attached to
Treasury Department memoranda on the Finders that Ted Gunderson circulates in a info-packet about the group: "the Finders are a "CIA front established in the 1960s. It has TOP CLEARANCE and PROTECTION in its ASSIGNED task of kidnapping and torture-programming young children throughout the US. Members
are specially trained GOVERNMENT KIDNAPPERS known to be sexual degenerates who involve children in Satanic sex orgies and bloody rituals as well as murders of other children and slaughter of animals."

The Finders group found itself in the news in February 1987 when an anonymous caller phoned police to report two formally dressed men (Michael Houlihan and Douglas Ammerman) supervising six casually dressed children--according to police, they were unkempt, disheveled and bruised--at Myers Park in Tallahassee, Florida. The police charged the men, members of the Finders, with child abuse, and Detective Jim Bradley of the metropolitan police in Washington, DC, used the arrest as a pretext to raid one of the Finders' properties there, Bradley's men seized evidence they said may have been indicative of an organized ring of pedophilic child kidnappers who made animal sacrifices to Satan.

A report by Customs Special Agent Ramon J. Martinez claimed that documents found at the Finders property "revealed detailed instructions for obtaining children for unspecified purposes. The instructions included the impregnation of female members of the community known as the Finders, purchasing

USE THIS SIMPLE TRICK TO CLEAN YOUR BATHROOM! IT’S 10 TIMES MORE POWERFUL AND MORE EFFECTIVE THAN CHLORINE! "IndyWatch Feed Food"

The cleaning of the bathroom is often an unpleasant and difficult task so we would all rather avoid it, or postpone it, at least, if possible.

Namely, the cleaning of the grout and tiles from mildew and dirt is often too challenging, but commercial cleaning products are loaded with harmful chemicals which endanger our health.

Yet, we will reveal the recipe of a natural effective cleaning agent which will cause no side-effects:

You will need:
  • Liquid soap – 1 cup
  • White vinegar – 1 cup
  • An empty spray bottle
  • A clean cloth

Instructions:

You should heat the white vinegar for 3 minutes, and then pour it into the spray bottle. Then, pour the liquid soap, and shake well to mix all the ingredients.

Next, you should spray the mixture from the bottle on the bathroom tiles and all surfaces that need to be cleaned. Leave the mixture to act for a minute, and then just wipe the surface with the cloth.

The same mixture can be used to clean and disinfect the porcelain toilets and sinks.

This will leave your bathroom shiny, clean, and smelling fresh!

Watch out for Thursday Night’s Mini-Moon "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

“We in some cool ass dystopia with devil chicks ‘n guns ‘n shit. GG EZ” ~ Sir Angstrom of Troubador

INTERNET — Scientists are forecasting mini-moon conditions for Thursday. This means that smallest moon in the history of the world so far will appear in the night skies, and some believe it is the trigger for upcoming cataclysmic world events.

“The moon’s gonna be small,” said Astronomer Royal Sir Angstrom of Troubador. “Real small. Better break out the binoculars for this moon. Just google it, Mini-moon. It’s a thing that I didn’t invent just now.”

“What I do know,” Troubador continued, “Is that I don’t really believe these scientists who tell me things anymore. I’m smart. I don’t need them to tell me the same things about gravity again and again.

Troubador donned his most official hat, speaking in a low, drilling tone that bored into the ear of this very reader, you, “What I don’t know? Oh, that’s when things get terrifying. Freaky New Evidence Suggests Your Immune System Could Be Controlling Your Behaviour "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

“Part of our personality may actually be dictated by the immune system.”

We all like to think of ourselves as totally unique, independent individuals, in charge of our own destinies. But new research has found evidence that our behaviour, and maybe even our personalities, could be influenced by something totally unexpected – our immune systems.

Researchers have shown that by switching off just one immune molecule in mice, they can change the way the animals behave and interact with each other – which suggests the immune system may play a role in conditions such as autism-spectrum disorder or schizophrenia.

Before we get too carried away, this is early research that’s only been conducted in rodents for now. But the researchers from the University of Virginia School of Medicine were able to clearly show that by simply changing the way the immune system responds to pathogens, they could trigger antisocial behaviour in mice.

Restoring the molecule returned the mouse personalities to normal.

“It’s crazy, but maybe we are just multicellular battlefields for two ancient forces: pathogens and the immune system,” said lead researcher, Jonathan Kipnis. “Part of our personality may actually be dictated by the immune system.”

The molecule in question is called interferon gamma, and it’s usually released by the immune system when it comes into contact with a pathogen, such as a virus or bacteria.

This type of immune response is part of the adaptive immune system, which learns to keep an eye out for nasty germs – and up until last year it was thought to be isolated from the brain as a result of the blood-brain barrier.

But that all changed in 2015, when Kipnis and his team discovered for the first time that meningeal vessels directly link the brain to the lymphatic system, which means that the brain and the immune system can directly interact, something that was previously thought to be impossible.

“The brain and the adaptive immune system were thought to be isolated from each other, and any immune activity in the brain was perceived as sign of a pathology,” explained Kipn...

According to psychologists, people who cry a lot have this unique personality trait "IndyWatch Feed Food"

When was the last time you just cried your eyes out? A month ago? A week ago? Maybe you’re drying your eyes from your last good cry as you read this. It’s okay to feel vulnerable after you shed a few tears, but you have nothing to apologize for.

In fact, crying is not only a perfectly healthy thing to do, but it’s also a sign of strength and resilience. Here are four reasons why you should feel empowered, not pathetic, after crying.

You Know How to Relieve Stress

A 1983 study from the American Psychological Association showed that most people feel more relieved after crying that was due to stress from interpersonal relationships and anxious or sad thoughts. (1)

Crying is one of the best ways to channel and filter out the thoughts and events that cause us worry or grief. Bottling up your emotions by holding back the tears can lead to long-term psychological damage that we’ll discuss later on.

When we cry, we are releasing negative tension that builds up from our day to day lives, allowing us to feel comforted and recharged so that we can pick ourselves back up afterward. Emotional tears also contain hormones that escape our body that could improve our mood after crying. (2)

Professor Roger Baker from Bournemouth University said that crying is the transformation of distress into something tangible, and the process itself reduces the feeling of trauma (source). So, when people encourage you to “just let it out,” now you know why.

It Shows You Don’t Care about What Others Think

The feeling of vulnerability and feebleness when we cry usually results from when other people are around. You feel the cracks in your voice; you feel the tears well up and the blood rush to your face, but you try your hardest to suppress these responses until it all comes bursting out. (3)

Society conditions us from an early age to believe that displaying negative emotions in front of other people is something that should be avoided at all costs. But human nature shows that we are all intelligent and sensitive creatures, and we can’t constantly keep up our emotional guard.

A 1964 study found that people respond less negatively and more compassionately to people who are crying. The study looked at the self-reported emotional response of people when they are in the presence of a crying person. (4)

Although the study found that crying made most people feel uncomfortable, crying in front of others shows that you place your feelings above the social expectations of those around you. That is a...

While waiting on Ellis Island for clearance to begin a new life in America, immigrants at the start of the 20th century may have been approached by a man with a camera. Born in Pennsylvania, Augustus Frederick Sherman worked as chief clerk at the island’s immigration station, but he was also an amateur photographer who documented the faces of over 250 people who passed through his workplace’s halls.

Labour Aristocracy Understood through Fucking Forklift Operator "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

forklift

MELBOURNE – Worker’s Spatula, being opposed to any sort of dogmatism and continuously staying aware of our limits in providing ready-made answers, have always maintained a healthy and dialectical relationship with the working class and contemporary trends in their consciousness. A burning question of the last century or so of communist organising has always been – what are the exact issues which the toiling masses are willing to rally around?

In that spirit, our intrepid Australian correspondent sharpened her boomerang and went to search for answers in the very heart of the class struggle – a warehouse in Carlton, Melbourne. After silently observing a group of workers walking out for a lunch break from a nearby bush, she adjusted her cork hat and approached them with one question in mind – what is that most grinds their proletarian gears? Could it be the behaviour of the warehouse boss? Their pathetic wages? The disgusting sandwiches served at the canteen?

“No. It’s that bastard in the forklift,” quipped Dave Surname, a particularly burly worker who nodded towards a self-satisfied man wheeling about in the aforementioned vehicle. “Bruce, he’s called. Bruce Franić. They put that bludger in the forklift right at day one ’cause he claimed he came in eleventh at last year’s Shitbox Rally. And I’ve been eyeing that forklift...

Kissinger On Trump World Order: “The President-Elect Is a Personality… American Policy Evolving” "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

https://www.instagram.com/p/BKX8qXlBTQd/

Image: Michael Berman, Instagram

A now-ancient Henry Kissinger is still the de facto manager of the Anglo-establishment wing of the new world order. And he still holds tremendous power and influence over world affairs.

And in true fashion, the realpolitik mastermind is prepared to embrace any president, just made remarks urging people not to prejudge Donald Trump – because his administration could create some useful policy.

It seems that President-elect Trump could become a good disciple after all.

Speaking on world peace, a topic for which he was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, Henry Kissinger gave a tacit endorsement to the next elected president, hinting at his acceptance among the upper echelons of the true power base in this country.

While the figures in the media and Washington are still sending mixed signals and attacking Trump on every front, behind the scenes, things may not be so rocky. Kissinger states:

““No doubt, the president-elect is a personality for whom there is no precedent in modern American history… Before postulating an inevitable crisis, an opportunity should be given to the new administration to put forward its vision of international order. the international debate should be over evolving American policy, not campaign rhetoric.

Kissinger has, of course, met with Trump many times in the past, and at least twice in recent weeks as the transition to the White House takes shape.

As Kurt Nimmo previously reported, these are also NOT Kissinger’s first public comments regarding how Trump’s campaign rhetoric will not match the policy of his administration:

Kissinger argued that it is counterproductive to demand absolute consistency from presidential administrations, particularly in the face of fluid international situations.

“The art now would...

Cyber Vulnerability Firm Sold the Tor Exploit to an Offensive Customer This Year "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

On November 29, someone posted on the Tor mailing list that an exploit was “actively used against TorBrowser NOW.” That is where the queued article about this will be linked. Mozilla quickly patched the bug but not without raising consumer concerns. Now, researchers discovered that an exploit company sold the exploit earlier this year to both offensive and defensive parties.

Fortinet, a cybersecurity firm that works with Mozilla, developed an intrusion detection system. A Fortinet spokesperson told Motherboard that the intrusion detection system (IDS) would detect the aforementioned exploit.

In a recent email, the Fortinet spokesperson said: “The IPS signature you linked does protect against the Firefox/Tor Browser Vulnerability.” She added that “The IDS signature defends against the exploit method used and was not specifically developed to defend against the recent Firefox/Tor browser zero-day.”

The Risky Business of Restoring Leonardos "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

PARIS — Painting conservation is perilous business, requiring the perfect blend of historical knowledge, technical skill, and respect for the immeasurably fragile, ancient object held gently between gloved hands. Just ask Cecilia Giménez, the 83-year-old amateur painter whose farcically botched attempt to restore an almost century-old fresco of Christ in her local church in Borja, Spain, propelled her to international infamy. Other conservation mishaps have been far less amusing.

In 2011, the Louvre’s director of conservation, Ségolène Bergeon Langle, resigned in the midst of a scandal that followed the restoration of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne” (c. 1503). Begun in 2009, the restoration was supposed to be a celebratory event to kick off a series of restorations of Leonardo paintings in the Louvre’s collection (of 15 known to exist, the museum owns six). However, Langle, along with other experts, felt the conservationists had gone too far in removing the various layers of yellowed varnish, eliminating or modifying original aspects of the painting....

The Whimsical Work of an Animal-Loving 19th-Century Printmaker "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

When he wasn’t sketching or bent over his etching press, hard at work, the 19th-century professional printmaker Henri-Charles Guérard often visited the Paris zoo. There, he observed elephants and monkeys, later preserving these creatures on paper in detailed prints. A lover of animals, the Frenchman himself owned a primate named Bi and a pug named Azor, both of whom he immortalized through illustration, too — particularly the canine, who often appears in Guérard’s works.

Four portraits of Azor are prominently shown at the exhibition currently at the New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, A Curious Hand: The Prints of Henri-Charles Guérard (1846–1897), curated by Madeleine Viljoen. Hung at the end of one of the library’s third-floor hallways, they imbue the pug with personality: he’s shown with his tongue out and eyes a little dazed; one portrait depicts him as a portly pup, sitting tall beneath his own name, etched in bold, Roman-style lettering.

While they are lighthearted, personal odes to his loyal pal...

Drones fly controlled by nothing more than people's thoughts "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The world's first race for drones controlled by people's thoughts involved 16 pilots flying drones over a course of just 10 yards in an indoor basketball court. "With events like this, we're popularizing the use of BCI (brain-computer interface) instead of it being stuck in the research lab," said [PhD student] Chris Crawford. Mind-controlled technology already is helping paralyzed people move limbs or robotic prosthetics. The technology ... works by using an EEG headset that has been calibrated to identify the electrical activity associated with particular thoughts in each wearer's brain. Programmers write code to translate these ... signals into commands that computers send to the drones. Professor Juan Gilbert, whose computer science students organized the race, [wants] to know how mind-controlled devices could expand and change the way we play, work and live. But as the technology moves toward wider adoption, ethical, legal and privacy questions remain unresolved. The US Defence Department - which uses drones to kill suspected terrorists ... from vast distances - is looking for military brain-control applications. A 2014 Defence Department grant supports the Unmanned Systems Laboratory ... where researchers have developed a system enabling a single person with no prior training to fly multiple drones simultaneously through mind control.

Note: Read an article which dives deep into the use of neuroscience as a weapon. And since drone strikes almost always miss their intended targets and reportedly create more terrorists than they kill, is it really a good idea to make drone fleets easier for the military to deploy?

Pentagon buries evidence of $125 billion in bureaucratic waste "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Pentagon has buried an internal study that exposed $125 billion in administrative waste in its business operations. Pentagon leaders had requested the study to help make their enormous back-office bureaucracy more efficient. But after the project documented far more wasteful spending than expected, senior defense officials moved swiftly to kill it by discrediting and suppressing the results. The report, issued in January 2015, identified “a clear path” for the Defense Department to save $125 billion over five years. The plan would not have required layoffs of civil servants or reductions in military personnel. Instead, it would have streamlined the bureaucracy ... curtailed high-priced contractors and made better use of information technology. The study was produced last year by the Defense Business Board, a federal advisory panel. Their report revealed ... that the Pentagon was spending almost a quarter of its $580 billion budget on overhead and core business operations such as accounting, human resources, logistics and property management. The data showed that the Defense Department was paying a staggering number of people - 1,014,000 contractors, civilians and uniformed personnel - to fill back-office jobs far from the front lines. That workforce supports 1.3 million troops on active duty.

Note: Despite its outrageous administrative expenses, the Pentagon is literally unable to account for itself. Could it be that the real reason the Pentagon is the only branch of US government that doesn't balance its books is that they don't want us to know where the money is going? US election: Broken machines throw Michigan recount into chaos "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The final result of the US presidential election is still unclear almost a month after polling day – and the recount in Michigan has now been thrown into chaos because of broken voting machines. As officials began a full recount in the swing state, it emerged that faulty machines mean half of all votes cast in the city of Detroit may be ineligible for recount. A third of voting precincts in Wayne County, that largest of Michigan's counties, could also be disqualified. The problems were discovered after voting clerks were unable to match the number of votes cast on the machines with the number of people who had been registered at polling stations. Officials said at least 87 of Detroit’s decade-old voting machines had failed on Election Day, with many jamming when ballot papers were fed in. In 392 of the city’s 662 voting precincts, the number of votes recorded on machines was not the same as the number of voters registered by polling station staff. According to Michigan state law, voting precincts where polling registers do not match with voting machines cannot be included in a recount. In that situation, the original election result will stand. The potential recount ineligibility of so many areas could hinder Hillary Clinton, who significantly outperformed Mr Trump in both Detroit and Wayne County and whose hopes of winning Michigan rest largely on uncounted ballots being found in Wayne County.

A Lot Of Voting Machines Are Broken Across America (But It's Totally Normal) "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Forbes has seen numerous reports of broken machines causing epic queues and peeving voters. One of the more concerning tales came from New Jersey, where one voter complained not only of machines being broken but claimed an official decided to say "maybe Russians did it". If an official did say those words, whether in seriousness or in jest, it'd have been unwise given fears around Russia's hacking of the election, following the breach of the Democratic National Committee earlier this year. Many took to Twitter to complain about broken machines, including those voting in Michigan, North Carolina, Texas, Columbia and San Francisco. Most complaints have come from New York and Detroit. ProPublica also reported issues across Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio. The Tennessean reported issues ... too. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) [stated] the department has been offering cybersecurity assistance to state, county and local election agencies, and found vulnerabilities during system scans, though wouldn't disclose their nature or provenance. Voting machines have always been vulnerable, said Matt Bernhard ... an expert on the security of electoral systems. "This year isn't that different, other than I'm expecting higher turnout which may stress the infrastructure more," added Bernhard, who yesterday released a report highlighting how different areas of the U.S. use poorly-protected machines.

Britain shocked by growing soccer child abuse scandal "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

What began as a harrowing account of child abuse suffered by a former professional English soccer player last month has lifted the lid on what could be one of the worst pedophile scandals Britain has ever known. Andy Woodward, 43, who played in the lower divisions of English soccer, told the Guardian newspaper ... how his life had been ruined because he had been molested as a boy by a youth team coach. His frank revelations of the sexual abuse he endured three decades ago prompted more than 20 other former professionals to come forward with their own distressing stories of suffering at the hands of sexual predators in the sport. In a sign of how widespread the abuse might have been, British police said on Thursday that about 350 victims had come forward to report sexual abuse within soccer clubs and indicated the number was likely to rise. The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) charity said that a helpline dedicated to the soccer abuse scandal had received 860 calls in its first week. The charity's staff had made 60 referrals to police or social services in the first three days, triple the number made in the wake of a similar scheme set up for victims of [Jimmy] Savile. The NSPCC has not ruled out suggestions the abuse is still ongoing. "It would be naive to assume that all of the concerns that are being disclosed and being talked about are in the past," said Jon Brown, the NSPCC lead on tackling sexual abuse. "There are many parallels between Savile and what we are seeing and hearing."

Note: Watch an excellent segment by Australia's "60-Minutes" team "Spies, Lords and Predators" on a pedophile ring in the UK which leads to the highest levels of government. Australian Jehovah’s Witnesses protected over a thousand members accused of child abuse, report says "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Over the course of about six decades, more than 1,000 members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses were accused of sexually abusing Australian children, according to a new report. Victims were ordered to keep quiet. Not one of the alleged perpetrators were reported to the police. Now, a royal commission in Australia has found the church demonstrated a “serious failure” to protect children from the risk of sexual abuse. A 107-page-long report released Monday detailed a number of ancient policies that exhibited what the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse referred to as a “serious lack of understanding of the nature of child sexual abuse.” The church’s responses to sexual abuse allegations, and its desire to handle them internally, often mirror those of the Catholic church or of some Orthodox Jewish communities. But unlike the priests of the Catholic Church, the Jehovah’s Witnesses have no paid clergy. Alleged perpetrators are mostly regular congregants, who are shielded from official prosecution by the church’s code of moral conduct. The church’s rules, which are based on a strict interpretation of the Bible, call for separation from other members of society. The Jehovah’s Witnesses’ responses to abuse allegations are not limited to Australia. The religion’s parent organization, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, for 25 years has instructed its elders to keep cases of child sexual abuse secret from law enforcement and members of their own congregations.

Hollywood Reacts With Disgust, Outrage Over 'Last Tango in Paris' Director's Resurfaced Rape Scene Confession "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

One of the most notorious scenes in cinema history, the Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider butter rape scene in Bernardo Bertolucci's Last Tango in Paris, is making headlines once again. In a recently resurfaced video interview ... Bertolucci confirms that Schneider, who died in 2011, did not know the details of the rape scene ahead of time, and that the graphic nature of the scene was improvised on set. "I had been, in a way, horrible to Maria because I didn't tell her what was going on," [said] Bertolucci. Nothing in the resurfaced video is news as the director has been very vocal about his filming of the scene and how it affected Maria Schneider in multiple interviews over the years. Schneider said in a 2007 Daily Mail interview [that], "Marlon said to me: 'Maria, don't worry, it's just a movie,' but during the scene, even though what Marlon was doing wasn't real, I was crying real tears. I wanted to be recognized as an actress and the whole scandal and aftermath of the film turned me a little crazy and I had a breakdown." Schneider added, "I felt humiliated and to be honest, I felt a little raped, both by Marlon and by Bertolucci." It's also well known that Schneider, who struggled with drug addiction and mental health issues, has blamed the infamous film for the downhill trajectory of her life. She went on to star in renowned films including Michelangelo Antonioni's The Passenger, but said she was unable to get past the notoriety that came with starring in Bertolucci's film.

Welcome to 'the Most Toxic Place in America' "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Seth Ellingsworth of West Richland, Washington, says he got sick in an instant last year, when he briefly inhaled a strange odor at his job at the nearby Hanford Nuclear Site. Seventy years ago, the Hanford Site produced plutonium for America's nuclear arsenal. Today, it's run by the Department of Energy through its contractor, Washington River Protection Solutions. The contractor is managing a $110 billion cleanup of 56 million gallons of chemical and nuclear waste, stored in 177 underground tanks. But the tanks are leaking, and the vapors they emit contain toxic and radioactive chemicals. Some nuclear experts have called Hanford "the most toxic place in America" and "an underground Chernobyl waiting to happen." The DOE has acknowledged in nearly 20 studies conducted over the past 24 years that there is a safety risk to workers at Hanford. But critics say the DOE ... continues to put workers at risk. Neuropsychologist Brian Campbell says he has evaluated 29 people at Hanford with both respiratory and cognitive symptoms, including "some of the worst cases of dementia that I've seen in young people." Dr. Campbell said the DOE doesn't want to acknowledge the injuries. Workers told us that "over and over," the Department of Energy and the contractor on site told them the readings for harmful materials were safe. Former workers also said that in the past they were almost never allowed to opt for protective gear, like the supplied air tanks recommended by many experts.

Note: A Newsweek article describes the Hanford site as an "American Fukushima" that will require 50 more years and $110 billion to adequately clean up. For more along these lines, see concise summaries of deeply revealing nuclear power news articles from reliable major media sources.

This is why everything you’ve read about the wars in Syria and Iraq could be wrong "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Iraqi army, backed by US-led airstrikes, is trying to capture east Mosul at the same time as the Syrian army and its Shia paramilitary allies are fighting their way into east Aleppo. An estimated 300 civilians have been killed in Aleppo by government artillery and bombing in the last fortnight, and in Mosul there are reportedly some 600 civilian dead over a month. Despite these similarities, the reporting by the international media of these two sieges is radically different. In Mosul, civilian loss of life is blamed on Isis, with its indiscriminate use of mortars and suicide bombers, while the Iraqi army and their air support are largely given a free pass. Contrast this with Western media descriptions of the inhuman savagery of President Assad’s forces indiscriminately slaughtering civilians. One factor making the sieges of east Aleppo and east Mosul so similar, and different, from past sieges in the Middle East ... is that there are no independent foreign journalists present. They are not there for the very good reason that Isis imprisons and beheads foreigners while Jabhat al-Nusra, until recently the al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria, is only a shade less bloodthirsty. Unsurprisingly, foreign journalists covering developments in east Aleppo and rebel-held areas of Syria overwhelmingly do so from Lebanon or Turkey. But, strangely enough, the same media organisations continue to put their trust in the veracity of information coming out of areas under the control of these same potential kidnappers and hostage takers.

What’s real? It’s getting harder to tell "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A web of truthiness, post-truths and half-truths is replacing a once-shared goal of knowing the actual truth. Ever since Eddie Bernays changed his occupation from “advertising man” to “public relations expert” a century ago, the distortion and manipulation of the truth through covert campaigns has been a mainstay of public life. We make light of it by calling it “spin” instead of covert information warfare, but covert warfare it is, and the prize is the capture of friends and enemies alike in webs of disinformation. Words - stories, narratives - have been weaponized and collateral damage is extensive. The Russians excelled in the use of stolen material ... to affect the recent campaign. They have done the same with neighbor countries to undermine clarity about their intentions and actions. There is a NATO group, for example, that does nothing but peruse Russian propaganda to understand it, but it was discovered that ... they unconsciously absorbed false material as if it was true, because that’s what the mind does, it treats data as data, even when it knows the data is a fiction. So the NATO group has to be debriefed in order to recalibrate their maps of the real to ... well, to the real. But who debriefs the debriefers? Who debriefs us? The inability to discriminate between plausible and crazy plus the impossibility of knowing what’s real in this perpetual fog of information warfare causes anxiety and fear, which people counter with narratives to comfort the afflicted soul. Then it’s called “truth.”

Diet soda may hurt the heart "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Older healthy women who consume two or more diet drinks per day are at higher risk for heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular problems, according to a new study. These women were ... 50 percent more likely to die from a disease associated with heart problems than women who rarely - or never - drank artificially flavored beverages. The study of 59,614 post-menopausal women ... is, thus far, the largest study conducted on heart health and diet beverage consumption. Over the last decade, an increased awareness of the dangers of refined sugar has led the popularity of diet beverages. Between 1999 and 2010, diet drink consumption increased from 17.8 percent to 21.2 percent for women and 13.9 percent to 19.0 percent for males, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Currently about 1 in 5 Americans drink some type of diet beverage each day. However, other research suggests one's intentions to avoid refined sugar from beverages may still result in many of the same health problems. Studies have found diet drinks can elevate one's risk for metabolic syndrome, which is associated with weight gain and an increased risk for diabetes. And other researchers believe artificial sweeteners may activate reward centers in the brain, which causes people to overeat.

Note: There has been a huge cover-up around the dangers of aspartame, the sugar substitute used in most diet drinks. Find loads of solid evidence about this on this webpage. For more along these lines, see concise summaries of deeply revealing news articles on food system corruption and health.
