Indian Government is Training Policemen to Crackdown Electronic Fraud "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

http://ift.tt/2j1tHSc

Indian government and law enforcement are allocating increased capital in training police officers to crackdown electronic fraud involving online transactions. A facility was launched in the police headquarters in Kasaba Bawada to ensure police officers obtain necessary information and technical expertise to detect electronic fraud.

Sohali Sharma, superintendent of Police, announced:

“In Kolhapur district, new software and machines have been installed in the cyber lab to help in detection of cyber crime. The cyber lab is set up in the main building of police headquarters in Kasaba Bawada area of city.”

Sharma and the rest of his team at the police headquarters admitted that cyber crime is a new form illegal activity which local police and law enforcement aren’t fully aware of. The vast majority of local police officers are yet to obtain clear understanding of cyber crime and other online illicit activities involving money.

Thus, in the upcoming months, policemen in the newly established cyber lab facility will spend time in analyzing various situations involving fraudulent transactions and implementing practical solutions in a simulation-based environment.

“These types of crimes are new to the police force as well. We are conducting series of training sessions for the officers to get acquainted to different types of crimes and how to investigate these crimes,” Sharma added.

He also further emphasized that local law enforcement agencies will begin imposing serious consequences for cybercrime and fraud. Indian police will also crackdown on money laundering operations conducted by criminals using illegal payment channels to send or receive money in an unregulated ecosystem.

Overtime, Sharma believes changes in training courses and introduction of important cyber lab facilities will increase awareness of cyber crime and financial fraud.

“The online transactions and use of new portals for business transactions through computers or smartphones are new to the people. This may give an opportunity to people involved in cybercrime for cheating people. We agree that police are also not aware of this type of crimes but the situation will change soon. Refresher courses and training sessions to upgrade police force for tackling these crimes have been going on and the situation has improved. We are now taking these types of crimes seriously,” Sharma added.

Sharma’s statements suggest that the Indian law enforcement and police...

Massive Cemeteries with Strange Burials Excavated at Medieval Monastery in Sudan "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Archaeologists have officially announced that four large cemeteries were unearthed near the remains of a medieval Christian monastery in Sudan. At least 123 individuals have been excavated so far, while some of the burials included corpses laid to rest in very odd ways.

A Monk-filled Cemetery

The four cemeteries and 123 human remains have been unearthed over the past two years and are located at a monastery called al-Ghazali near the Nile River. In 2014, a team of Polish archaeologists discovered a Byzantine monastery which had been inhabited by a large group of monks and visiting pilgrims.

Aerial view of cemetery two, which is located beside the al-Ghazali Christian monastery, in Sudan. ( Robert Stark )

The skeletons found in one of the four cemeteries seems to verify their idea since they all belonged to males, suggesting that the monks who lived in the nearby Christian monastery were buried there. The monks probably lived there about a thousand years ago, during a time when a series of Christian kingdoms prospered in the location, according to Robert Stark , a doctoral student at McMaster University who presented the findings this month in Toronto at the joint annual meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America and the Society for Classical Studies.

Previous Excavations in Sudan

In 2013, another team of archaeologists announced the discovery of a 900-year-old crypt in Sudan containing seven mummified bodies and walls covered with inscriptions. The tomb was found in 1993 in a monastery at Old Dongola, the capital of a lost medieval kingdom called Makuria that flourished in the Nile Valley. However, it was not excavated until 2009 when seven males were found inside in a naturally well-preserved state. They were wearing linen garments and some of the individuals wore the Christian cross. One of the mummies is thought to be the Archbishop Georgios, probably the most powerful religious leader in the kingdom. An epitaph naming him was found nearby and said that he died in 1113 AD at the age of 82. Inside the crypt, the walls were covered with inscriptions written in Greek and Sahidic Coptic in black ink on a thin layer of whitewash.

Hacker Breaks Into Clinton Foundation Server, Finds Millions in Fraud "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Many have been awaiting the release of the supposed “bombshell” files on the Clinton Foundation. While the rest of us waited patiently for the release, the suspense was apparently too much for one hacker.

Guccifer 2.0 somehow managed to find his way into the databases of the Clinton Foundation, and by doing so he was able to find some of the most damning information currently available against the Clintons.

While he was able to release a good bit, he did state that “I can’t post all databases here for they’re too large. I’m looking for a better way to release them now.”

At the beginning of his post, which contained the files he could share with the world, Guccifer states,

“Many of you have been waiting for this, some even asked me to do it. So, this is the moment. I hacked the Clinton Foundation server and downloaded hundreds of thousands of docs and donors’ databases.”

And here is what he found.

guccifer2

Of course, most of it is a plethora of numbers and random addresses.

Basically, what it all boils down to is that when Obama declared that congress must approve more bailouts between 2009-2011, many of the big banks, through the use of the Clinton Foundation, offered a massive payout to Democratic politicians, including Hillary Clinton, in order to see the bailout approved.

Guccifer writes, “DEMOCRATS FUNNELED TARP FUNDS BACK TO THEIR PACS! That’s taxpayer bailout money that went right to the pockets of Democrat PACs!”

Wait, what? Yes, you ready that right. Taxpayer money went directly to the Democrats and their corrupted bangster buddies. Yet, these people continue to remain in top positions that continue to control the world we live in. Of course, this is another reason as to why we must continue to push for more transparency regarding the goings-on of our Government. Furthermore, if we continue to allow such acts to take place, our nation will surely implode, all thanks to the Democratic party.

Chicken Fajita Soup "IndyWatch Feed Food"

Chicken Fajita Soup
It is soup season and today I have a new soup recipe for you, a chicken fajita soup! This soup is inspired by the flavours of chicken fajitas, which is grilled chicken with peppers and onions, typically served in tortillas with tacos style toppings. This soup takes the base of chicken, onions and peppers and place them in a soup with chicken broth and tomatoes and seasons them with taco seasoning. Of course the magic comes from the toppings and I like to serve this chicken fajita soup topped with shredded cheese, avocado, sour cream, fresh onions, cilantro and tortilla chips for crunch! No matter how your serve this soup it's pure comfort food that is perfect for a chilly day or for curling up with a book or watching the big game of football!

How To Think Like a SEAL: Training Exercises to Toughen Your Mind "IndyWatch Feed Food"

In our fast paced hustle in life, we rarely have time to sit down and really spend time doing something just for us. For many of you, prepping has either been an ongoing part of your life, or you have just joined the tribe and are voraciously reading every type of prepper material you can get your hands on.

In our haste to get our homes ready, mental preparation is usually pushed far back on the list of priorities.  Following a disaster, people experience a variety of reactions, but two emotions they experience the most are fear and panic. Without being mentally prepared for a disaster, many succumb to the traumatic event due to their emotional responses. Inevitably, if you do not mentally prepare your mind for the disaster, fear, distress, shock, indecision, panic will set in and eventually you will give up altogether. I won’t lie to you, this is something that could make or break you in a true disaster and takes lots of training. Folks, mentally preparing yourselves for disasters needs to be a priority.

It’s All Mental, Baby!

First things first, here’s the secret to survival – it’s all mental. You want to be the person who is well prepared, understands the situation and is able to react fluidly to the changes that occur. You DON’T want to be the person who mentally breakdown, stresses and emotionally reacts – this is a dangerous person to be.

Be in control of your mind, don’t let your mind control you.

If you can understand how your mind reacts to disasters, you can learn to quiet it, slow the thinking down and learn to make more rational decisions. This puts you in a more adaptable position to survive and get through the disaster.

SEALs training focuses on this very issue. This video explains the brain’s reaction to fear and panic and how to overcome these natural reactions.

Conquering Fear and Panic with Mental Exercises

Here’s the thing, we all want to avoid getting injured, looted, attacked and left exposed in a dire emergency. These are all fear-based thoughts and although they are a stark reality that some may face, they are also situations that many want to try to avoid thinking about altogether. Stress, fear and anxiety are all considered to be negative and destructive emotions. However,...

Megaupload 2.0 Stalling but the Market Is Paying Attention "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The Bitcoin world has been abuzz the last few days over the much awaited launch of Megaupload 2.0. Very little information on the new platform has been released since the media covered the story last October.

Megaupload Hits a Roadblock

An announcement was expected today (January 20th) as this was the 5 year anniversary of the site being shut down by authorities. Earlier today Kim Dotcom tweeted that there was an “expected hiccup” which was followed up by this …

While the nature of the hold up is unclear, Kim Dotcom is not phased and we expect a formal announcement early next week. What is interesting about this is how the market reacted. The price dropped $15 within 10 minutes of the first tweet indicating the stall. This tells us that the market is clearly paying close attention to the goings on.

ALSO READ: Abra to Finally Launch Global Bitcoin Network Next Month

And so it should. The original Megaupload had over 200 million users. Kim Dotcom has the list of previous users and has his finger on the trigger to reintroduce this massive group of loyal Megauploaders back on his new platform. Being an internet file sharing site, most of the users are educated, tech savvy people. Could there be a better group of people you would want to be introduced to bitcoin? I don’t think so.

Adding Millions of Bitcoin Users

megaUploadCurrent estimates on how many people use bitcoin range from 2 to 15 million. If even a small percentage of the 200 million previous users join Megaupload 2.0 this could easily multiply the number of real bitcoin users worldwide.

Optimistically, if the platform is anywhere near as successful as the original Megaupload, network effects and a larger population on the internet could drive many 100’s of millions of new users to site before the end of the year. This coupled with Abra’s recent announcement that their “Uber for money transfers” will be...

Kidney problems dog half of Yapadinne "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Mahbubnagar: About half the people living in Yaapadinne village of Ija mandal in Jogulamaba Gadwal district are suffering from debilitating health problems related to kidney ailments, most of which surfaced in just the past three years.  The tiny village, with about 150-200 residents, is located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River.

During the past two years, more than 20 people of the village have died due to kidney failure.  About 60 people are bed-ridden with advanced renal problems.

Every day someone or the other from the village visits nearby Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh to get dialysis done. Majority of the families of these kidney patients are debt- ridden and some of them have even sold their lands and other properties to pay for the high costs of treatment.

According to Sharada, a kidney patient and MPTC member from Yapadinne village, the renal problems have surfaced only in the past three years. Almost half the population of the village is affected by kidney ailments. “I have been facing this kidney problem for the past two years.

I have to go to Kurnool every week for dialysis. There are more than 60 people like me in the village who are facing the same problem. Those who are economically well-off are approaching private hospitals, while those who are financially weak are bed-ridden, just waiting for their turn to die,” said Sharada.

The kidney ailments in the village can be attributed to the presence of harmful chemicals, fluoride and heavy salts in the ground water, according to healthcare experts.

They say that if the concentration of fluoride is more in water; when consumed, it gets deposited in the kidney during the blood filtering process and later these deposits get precipitated and form into stones, destroying the nephron cells.

Ultimately, the kidney stops functioning. Nalgonda district is notorious for long-neglected fluoride problem that has affected many people in rural areas, leaving them paralysed or with joint pains and bone problems.

What beats the authorities is that the problem in Yapadinne village is somewhat different, considering the fluoride in water has been impacting mainly kidneys.

Although the State government has been making tall claims about providing pure drinking water to every household, the villagers of Yapadinne have always been depending on ground water for their drinking purpose. As the ground water is known to have a high level of fluoride, it has been negatively impacting overall health of people in the entire village.

Narasihma, a farmer from another village near Yapadinne, said he too had been suffering from kidney failure. He got operated, but continued t...

Fashion retailers fear huge increase in men lurking outside changing rooms "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

does my face look bored in this?Shopping experts and psychologists have today warned of a previously undiscovered side-effect of the closure of high street stores.

Retail guru Mary Portas explained ‘the loss of high street shops that men can get sent to while their partners try clothes on has led to them being forced to stand in the shop in the vicinity of the changing room. This in turn has led to a series of unfortunate incidents in several fashion retailers. Instead of heading off to watch the telly in Comet or idly look at the snooker cues in JJB, men have been accused of being Peeping Toms for looking towards the changing room curtains, while others are labelled as perverts for looking the other way, which always happens to be towards the lingerie department.’

Portas believes that he loss of HMV and Jessops is likely to exacerbate the situation, leading to fears of an influx of awkward, embarrassed men impatiently waiting for their partners when they could be looking at CDs or cameras that they won’t be allowed to buy instead.

Linked to this, there are real concerns that men will be asked to contribute to the choice of clothes, leading to an increase in the divorce rate. Questions such as ‘Do you think this makes me look fat?’ must be answered extremely tactfully, and there is no right answer to ‘Which one of these do you prefer?’ Husbands are bein advised to mumble something bland about them both being nice if they are to avoid the inevitable ‘So, what’s wrong with that one?’ or ‘Well that just shows how bad your taste is.’ Staff had to intervene in one case in Basingstoke recently when Mrs Ellie Winter, having tried on several dresses, announced which one she liked best, only to tell husband Peter, ‘I need to look in all the other shops in town, but I’ll bear it in mind.’

In view of these fears, one member of the Chamber of Commerce in Exeter has had an idea to keep men out of fashion stores during their partners’ shopping trips. Based loosely on the principle of a childrens’ creche, his establishment will look after his clients, entertain them and keep them fed and watered until they are collected. He’s calling his idea ‘a pub’.

Buda postpones water fluoridation to hold public hearing "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Buda City Manager Kenneth Williams announced in a press release Thursday night that the city will place on hold the scheduled fluoridation of its water supply.

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, several members of the public spoke about the issue, including some from newly formed group Buda Citizens for Safe Water, prompting Mayor Todd Ruge to request a public hearing on matter on Feb. 7.

The city council will revisit the issue and make a final decision at some point following that meeting, according to the release. Kenneth could not be reached for comment Thursday night.

Buda had been adding fluoride to its water since 2002 when it first became a customer of the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority. The authority operates the San Marcos Water Treatment Plant and stopped fluoride treatment after San Marcos residents voted to discontinue the pratice in November 2015.

Buda City Council members passed a resolution in July 2015 cementing their preference to keep the fluoridation regardless, and the city had planned to restart fluoridation this month.

so, I looked, and there's nothing there... "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

is this what it means, "Achieving Nirvana?"

If it is, I not sure if I like it.

I'm not even sure if Nirvana is supposed to be liked, only achieved.

Like some great big cosmic joke upon the awakening self, by the deadened self. Maybe we're deadened creatures (by design) because the truth of the UTTER VOID is too demanding for most of us to grasp or cope with. Not only space is empty, but self is also. Now, I realise that this is a (bit of a) misnomer, this emptiness of space. Space is full... of electricity. That's why the stars shine. And is the emptiness of Man's Multidimensionality similarly filled with this electricity? Is this all our creative ideas are, a series of electric jolts as our self passes causally through a structured universe?

I'm there.

I can do all the visualisation techniques. I can do all the astral travelling. I can do the denial of everything trick. I'm good at all of it. But then I'm left with the Gaping Void. I can't even place MY-SELF within this vast nothingness. I don't know where ANY of my so-called ideas come from, so what (or who) am I? And while it's nice to know that we're here to do as we like among our fellow man, it's not comforting or otherwise inspiring to realise that 'there's nothing out there' and 'we're the only deity there'll ever be'.

Lada Ray Futurist Trendcast 1-19-17… “LADA RAY PREDICTION… [About] Trump… Inauguration 1/20/17?” "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

lada_ray_photo_a_67First of all, I purposely shortened Lada’s title for this post, as I am not going to send any visible energy into that possibility. However, Lada affirms that there will be a “safe” inauguration for Trump.

I’ve listened to a few other people talk about it, and I can assure you it will be a safe-for-all event. My own view is that he is somehow “overlighted” by a variety of Angelics, and this “overlighting” is for the entire USA country and population., not just for The Donald.

Lada also mentions her upcoming webinar (Feb. 4) where Trump’s presidency will be the topic.

“I am posting this only because there is presently a renewed avalanche of sensationalist ‘predictions’ suggesting that Trump will be assassinated during inauguration tomorrow, On January 20, 2017. There are also some secretly die-hard Hillary and Obama worshipers and not-so-secret neo-liberals, who wish and pray this happens to the US president-elect.

“Donald Trump WILL NOT be assassinated on January 20, 2017. He will take office and become officially the President of the United States.

“Moreover, his presidency will mark a tangible SHIFT in America and worldwide.”

Kentucky witness: UFO hovered over neighbor’s home "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

A Kentucky witness at Coxs Creek recalled a UFO incident from 2014 where a disc-shaped object was observed hovering over a neighbor’s home shortly after it appeared someone had entered his home late at night, according to testimony in Case 80839 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The reporting witness and his wife had just gone to bed about 10 p.m. on June 4, 2014, when the incident began.

“She was reading a book and I was watching television,” the witness stated. “The house was quiet. We live in a country type of area. The television was down low as not to disturb my wife. I heard our front door open (it makes a distinctive sound as the lower seal rubs the step plate). It had my attention, but I thought it was our son who has the only other key to our house.”

The witness then heard walking in the living room, but it sounded like more than one person.

“My wife looked at me and said, you know someone just came in the house, don’t you? So I answered, yes, I know. It has to be our son. He’s the only one with a key. And she says, what if it’s not? She was right, so I get out of bed, go to the closet and get my gun. We leave a small light on in the kitchen just to be able to see if someone is there, but they can’t see us well.”

Food Is Medicine: 20 Natural Painkillers in your Kitchen "IndyWatch Feed Food"

At this point, we are all aware of the thing we should do in order to maintain good physical and mental health. This involves eating whole grains, fruits and veggie; limiting soda and candy intake; and doing physical activity on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, most people fall into the pattern of eating processed food. The supermarkets are loaded with packaged foods which have little or no nutritional value. What`s more, we are eating less variety of foods, mainly focusing on corn, wheat, rice, and soy.

But, it is high time we changed this and begin looking at food at medicine. Food is powerful stuff and choosing the right ingredients offers a wide range of health benefits. Here are some of them:

1.Make muscle pain a memory with ginger

According to a little Danish research on the topic, introducing ginger into your daily diet helps alleviate joint and muscle pain, swelling, and stiffness for up to 63%. Ginger contains gingerols, compounds which prevent the pain-triggering hormones from producing. Aim at getting a teaspoon of dried ginger or two teaspoons of chopped ginger a day.

2.Cure a toothache with cloves

According to UCLA researchers, chewing a clove helps ease tooth pain and gum disease in a matter of hours. Its natural compound called eugenol works as potent anesthetic. Adding ¼ teaspoon of ground cloves in meals protects the ticker, helps regulate blood sugar, and lowers cholesterol levels within three weeks.

3.Heal heartburn with cider vinegar

Sipping a tablespoon of ACV mixed with 8 ounces of water before meals heals heartburn in 24 hours! As explained by Joseph Brasco, M.D., a gastroenterologist at the Center for Colon and Digestive Diseases in Huntsville, AL, “Cider vinegar is rich in malic and tartaric acids, powerful digestive aids that speed the breakdown of fats and proteins so your stomach can empty quickly, before food washes up into the esophagus, triggering heartburn pain.”

4.Erase earaches with garlic

To cure an earache fast, pour two drops of warm garlic oil into your affected ear daily for five days. According to experts at the University of New Mexico School Of Medicine, this method is superior to prescription medications. Its active ingredients like sulfur and selenium work against many pain-causing bacteria. To prepare your own garlic oil, simmer three garlic clove in a half a cup of olive oil for about two minutes. Refrigerate for up to two weeks.

5.Chase away joint and headache pain with cherries

Arthritis, headaches, and gout are one of the most common ailments these days. To chase them away naturally, eat a bowl of cherries on a daily basis. Their anthocyanins content in cherries acts as powerful anti-inflammatory agent, which is even 10...

'Big Bang not true': This is what REALLY created universe, says man 'abducted by aliens' "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

The man detailed his experience on a popular conspiracy forum, giving details of what he alleges they told him.

Among his supposed revelations are that the universe did not come about as a result of the Big Bang and that aliens are able to communicate with each other via telepathy.

The anonymous man claimed his first contact with beings from outer-space happened when he was young when one got in touch with him through his brainwaves.

He the says that since then, he has been constantly conversing with them.

He wrote: “For the last 17 years it’s been an on and off again thing. I’d just gone five years without any contact or communication incidents, but in August 2016, things got very serious, very fast.

“I went to bed one Saturday night just like any other night. But Sunday morning was not anything like any Sunday I’d been through before.

“I woke up and realised immediately what happened. I was freezing. And soaking wet. And I felt like I was in a dream. Have you ever been under anaesthetic? Same feeling when waking up.”

He claims that during this encounter, he was told that the universe was created by something called “The One” – something that is neither alive nor dead, male nor female, but responsible for everything in existence.

The man then made a series of outlandish claims about the history of the Earth from the Garden of Eden to today.

He added: “You likely won’t believe me yet, but that voice in your head, your conscience, is actually what’s left of the telepathic connection to our counterpart on Eden.

“Of course today we are raised to believe thinking anything other than ‘it’s your own voice’ will get you locked up in a psych ward.”

Several people believe or claim that they have been abducted by aliens, to the point that a “close encounter” conference was held in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia, this week.

One speaker claimed her eggs were stolen by aliens who abducted her to make human-ET hybrids.

It is also reported around 40,000 Americans have tried to take out insurance against being abducted by aliens.

Sceptics argue that so-called alien abductees are fantasists, who repeat stories they read online, or even mentally ill.

And with no identity given or evidence to back up his account, the latest story is being treated with similar scepticism.

After Reading This, You Will Surely Eat Kamias Every Day! "IndyWatch Feed Food"

Kamias or bilimbi is possibly one of the most underestimated fruits in the world. It’s closely linked to the balimbing or star fruit, but unlike this fruit, kamias has a sour flavor used in many cuisines of the world. Native to the Philippines, this fruit-bearing tree is a rich source of vitamins B and C, iron, phosphorus and antioxidants. Although kamias is not as popular as other tropical fruits, it’s definitely rising in popularity due to its high nutritional value.

Some of the most important health benefits of kamias include:

1. Cough treatment

You can easily relieve cough by mixing a few grains of fennel, 3 grains of kamias, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil then steam for several hours. Divide the water in two. Drink the first half in the morning on an empty stomach, and the other half in the evening.

2. Diabetes treatment

Kamias is extremely beneficial for people suffering from diabetes. What you need is 6 grains of kamias, crushed then mixed with a glass of water. Bring the mixture to a boil then strain the water and drink twice a day.

3. Acne treatment

Kamias is rich in acidic substances, which are really effective in acne treatment. Simply put a crushed kamias on the affected skin and let it act for several minutes. Rinse with clean water.

4. Thrush treatment

This treatment can be quite painful, but, it’s very effective. Kamias can help treat thrush due to its acidic substances. Simply put some crushed kamias on the affected area.

5. Rheumatism

To alleviate rheumatic pain, crush a handful of kamias leaves and one grain until smooth. Mix with water and apply on the affected areas 2-3 times a day.

6. Muscle stiffness treatment

Mix one handful of kamias leaves, one grain of kaimas fruit, 10 grains of cloves, and 15 grains of peppercorns. Add vinegar. When the ingredients soften, apply the mixture on stiff muscles.

7. Toothache treatment

Kamias can effectively relieve a toothache. Simply crush the fruit then apply on the painful tooth. It works better than a pharmacy-bought painkiller.

January 20, 2017 ~ TURNING POINT "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

slide1January 20, 2017 = 1 2 1. This is a very significant date in the human journey. 2 is reinforced here because January in a 1 Year is a 2 Month. These numbers are a stark reflection of our position – the volatile space between one millennium and the next. We are experiencing the vibrational differences between the electrical masculine 1000s and the magnetic feminine 2000s. And the shocks will continue until we finally wake up to the enormity of what is happening.

Today, while 1 signifies speed, action, and the start of something new, 2 slows everything down by drawing attention to important details which must be recognized and dealt with before real progress can be made.

1+2+1=4

4 is the number of order, foundation, method, system, facts and figures, and effective organization. 4 is the number of effectiveness. However, until we feel its powers of determination and purpose, 4 can create limitation, delay, and the feeling of being boxed-in. 4 teaches us that every problem has its answers and solutions if we are patient enough to find them – and then find the most effective way to put them into practice. 4 is the number of results through hard work, which confirms that although the road ahead will not be easy, 4 gives us the power of perseverance.

Watch Mr. Rogers Persuade Congress to Stop Cutting PBS Budget in 1969 : Would It Stop Trump from Defunding PBS & NEA Today? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Yesterday, the news broke that the Trump administration will apparently be slashing federal spending, to the tune of $10.5 trillion over 10 years. According to The Hill, the “departments of Commerce and Energy would see major reductions in funding.” And “the Corporation for Public Broadcasting [aka PBS] would be privatized, while the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities would be eliminated entirely.”

Attempts to cut funding for the arts is nothing new. Above, we take you back to 1969, when Richard Nixon planned to reduce PBS’ funding from $20 million to $10 million. That is, until Fred Rogers, the gentle creator of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, spent six short minutes before Senator John Pastore, the chairman of the Subcommittee on Communications, and made his pitch for publicly-funded educational television. In those 360 seconds, Rogers gets the gruff senator to do a complete 180 – to end up saying “It looks like you just earned the 20 million dollars.”

It’s unlikely that Mr. Rogers could get the same traction today. Quite the contrary, his sweetness and sincerity would likely be mocked quite mercilessly, a sign of how coarse our society has become these days.

George Soros Vows To ‘Take Down President Trump’ "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Notorious globalist billionaire George Soros has gone on the record threatening to “take down President Trump” and promising an audience at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the New World Order are making the necessary preparations to completely and utterly obliterate every single Trump plan.

Speaking to a packed audience at his annual dinner at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Soros warned large multinational corporations to hold off from doing any business in the United States until he’s ended Trump’s presidency – or else face the consequences.

Asked what advice he would give to businesses preparing for the impact of the new presidency, he saidI’d keep as far away from it as I can“.

The hedge fund manager and convicted felon, who initially became famous for having made $1bn by betting on the devaluation of the pound in 1992, is reported to have lost close to a $1bn after the stock market rallied following Trump’s win.

Mr Soros attributed the rise in the markets to Mr Trump’s pledge to cut regulation and taxes, but told the elite gathered at the World Economic Forum that the good times under Trump wouldn’t last.  Soros said that after Trump takes office – in under 24 hours – “reality will prevail“.

Soros, a Jewish Nazi collaborator, said he was confident Mr Trump’s powers would be limited by Congress. “He won’t be able to get away with being a dictator,” he added.

Soros’s comments to the international economic elite in Switzerland come after Wall Street analysts have begun referring to him as a “wounded beast” and warned that he is “hell bent on revenge” after his candidate failed to win the election.

Pundits and market analysts have been keeping a close eye on the “wounded beast” in recent weeks to determine his next move and reports are now emerging that the funds Soros wasted on Clinton are set to be dwarfed by the amount of money he is now spending on the bond market.

The plan is to create “financial Armageddon and unleash hell“, driving the Western world, and in particular the United States, to the edge of ruin.  Out of the flames a phoenix will rise and this will be Soros’ vision of the New World Order.

Soros believes the market is Trump’s weak point. He claims Trump has “no chance”...

WASHINGTON – The 45th President of the United States and subject of a Green Day concept album already being written was inaugurated to the highest office in the land earlier today amidst fanfare and protest.

Gobekli Tepe - older than we think - covered by Nature? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Is it plausible that (the many times repaired/reinforced with rock walls by the locals) Gobekli Tepe multi-stone-ring Geometric-rock carved site in Turkey, said to be 10,000 years old, was many thousands of years older? Like so many archaic sites in the world, maybe they were discovered i.e. not made, by post-Younger Dryas modern man.

It's only deposits in the fill that date the site to 10,000 years...

And about that fill, is it also plausible that the fill that covers the Gobekli Tepe site was Natural i.e. from the sky?

One of Saturn's moons Titan is a) covered with a nitrogen-rich atmosphere, like Earth and b) covered with large rocks, like Mars. Many ancient rock carvings and tribal icons tend to suggest that Mars was seen as the God of War as the brown-dwarf star proto-Saturn entered the Sun-system and had its planets (including the heavily plasma-bombarded Mars) stripped from it under electrical war with the sun, a great part of that, is the generation of large amounts of matter, both soil and rocks and water.

A Partnership Larger Than Marriage: The Stunning Love Letters of Kahlil Gibran and Mary Haskell "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

“You are like the Great Spirit, who befriends man not only to share his life, but to add to it. My knowing you is the greatest thing in my days and nights, a miracle quite outside the natural order of things.”

A Partnership Larger Than Marriage: The Stunning Love Letters of Kahlil Gibran and Mary Haskell

Nearly a century after his death, the Lebanese-American painter, poet, and philosopher Kahlil Gibran (January 6, 1883–April 10, 1931) endures as one of humanity’s most universally beloved voices of truth and transcendence. But there would have been no Gibran as we know and love him without the philanthropist and patron of the arts Mary Elizabeth Haskell — his greatest champion, frequent collaborator, and unusual beloved.

Haskell and Gibran met on May 10, 1904, at a friend’s studio. He was twenty-one and she nearly thirty-one. Impressed with his art, Haskell soon offered to send Gibran to Paris to study painting, with a stipend of $75 a month, equivalent to about $2,000 today. He accepted. In a letter to a friend written shortly before he departed for Paris in 1908, Gibran described Haskell as “a she-angel who is ushering me toward a splendid future and paving for me the path to intellectual and financial success.” Shortly after arriving, he wrote: “The day will come when I shall be able to say, ‘I became an artist through Mary Haskell.'”

But the open hands of Haskell’s generosity branched from an equally open heart, from some larger kindness of which Gibran soon became enamored. He came to see her as more than a benefactress — a kindred spirit, a woman of uncommon tenderness, and, above all, a person willing to descend into the deepest trenches of his psyche and climb to its highest mounts in order to understand him, which he considered the greatest measure of love. It was through her generosity that...

People Commit Suicide in India Amid Shortage of Cash, Demand of Bitcoin Goes up "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

http://ift.tt/2iR66jv

Just months after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement to demonetize two of the most widely used banknotes in the country, the circulation of cash halved, declining from over 18,000 billion to 8,000 billion rupees. Such drastic change in India’s cash-based economy led to disastrous economic and financial impact.

Within weeks after the demonetization, the general population of India struggled to obtain enough cash to support daily living and finance day-to-day operations. On most salary dates in mid-month and at the end of each month, individuals had to wait more than 24 hours to claim their own money.

On November 17, the Indian government and its central bank cut the daily limit on cash exchanges from 4,500 rupees to 2,000 rupees. As cash became even more scarce and the central bank’s initiative virtually disallowed people from withdrawing cash without creating a bank account, a substantial number of individuals took it to the extreme and committed suicide.

In fact, 33 people deaths have been reported within 30 days after the announcement of demonetization in mid-November. Some individuals committed suicide out of sheer frustration while others died of exhaustion waiting in line to receive cash from banks and ATMs.

(People lining up in front of ATMs

Local publications including the Indian Express reported horrifying incidents of deaths stemming from the demonetization of banknotes:

“Four days before his daughter’s wedding, Sukhdev Singh died of a heart attack in Tarn Taran, Punjab, as he was unable to buy groceries and other items due to shortage of new currency notes. A two-year-old died in Sambhalpur, Odisha, after an autorickshaw driver refused to take the family to hospital as they did not have lower denomination notes to pay the fare.”

Yet, the government continued to push the initiative, claiming that it is an important phase of financial development that will eliminate criminals and reduce criminal activities involving money. For the long-term growth of the Indian economy, Prime Minister Modi stated that the demonetization of banknotes was ultimately beneficial for the general population of India.

However, people of India harshly criticized Modi for his ignorance against current financial and economic status of the country. Individuals could not comprehend the Modi administration’s intent in pushing the demonetizati...

Over Part 1 and Part 2 of this series we have come a long way to proving how disconnected the legacy financial system is to natural law. We have also seen how perfectly aligned bitcoin works with nature’s frameworks. Now let’s drive the point home by looking at 2 more fundamental laws of nature.

Value Based vs Debt Based

laws of natureIf a squirrel doesn’t collect enough nuts before through winter he will go hungry or even starve. A farmer can’t dig up next year’s harvest now. The squirrel and farmer alike must devote time and energy before receiving the rewards. In nature, you reap what you sow, but you must sow first.

Value must be created before it is spent. This is the essence of a value based system. This is not to say that loans are bad at all but just that the origin of the loans should be value that was earned not created out of this air. Bitcoin is a value based system. Bitcoin miners must devote time and energy into the network in order to have a chance of obtaining new bitcoins. No new bitcoins are promised ahead of time. Just like gold’s value is proportional to the time and energy it takes to dig it out of the ground, the presence of a bitcoin is proof that time and energy has been spent in creating it.

The United States financial system used to be value based. Pre-1971 the US system was on the “gold standard.” This meant that all the money was backed by gold sitting somewhere in a vault. Every dollar was redeemable for a certain amount of gold or silver. But just like every government in history, eventually the US wanted something for nothing. They went off the gold standard and started issuing money that was nothing more than a ledger entry backed by a promise to pay.

See also: Bitcoin is Tapping into the Laws of Nature Part 1

The money in fiat systems around the world (like the USD) requires no more time and energy to create than it does to enter a number into a database. The fact is that nowhere in nature can you reap rewards without doing the work. This leads us to the most unbreakable of natures laws…mathematics.

“In nature you reap what you sow, but you must sow first”

6 Signs You Have Finally Found Your True Soul Mate "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

We have a certain feeling inside of us that we are completely unable to describe and we only have this certain kind of feeling whenever we are with them specifically.

There aren't any words that you can say that would give the feeling any justice, it's just something that you have to feel for yourself.

Not everyone is able to find this kind of feeling for another person or ever sometimes depending on who you are. If you think you have found that amazing other person then you already know what this means to you.

You're probably thinking about them the more you continue reading this. That's how powerful this feeling is, even when you're not trying to think about them you just are subconsciously.

Here are 6 signs that mean you have found the one true soul mate that was meant for you.

1. You Overcome Everything Together

When you find your true soul mate, there isn't anything that the both of you aren't able of overcoming together. Sure, there are a lot of hardships or adversity that may have stuck obstacles in your way, but you both somehow managed to pull everything back together even when you both may have thought that there was no coming back from this.

You would never find yourself in a situation where you'd think you'd have to leave the other person in order to satisfy a piece of their happiness that maybe you weren't living up too.

Despite the many challenges that have been brought before your relationship, you both took a stand and made sure that the two of you were going to be the last ones standing.

2. You Can Read Each Other's Minds

Maybe not literally reading each others minds, but you both know each other so well that you pretty much already know what they are going to say, what they want, what they need, what they were going to do, anything.

This is another way of knowing that you have your one true soul mate. Even when you didn't even ask them for anything at all, they still somehow read your mind and bring you the thing that you were needing most in that moment in time.

It comes naturally, not even trying to be close to each other, you both just know what's going to happen next because it makes you both happy.

3. Still Yourselves

Regardless of being each other's one true soul mate, you both have not lost yourselves to one another. Meaning that you're still the same personality type that you were when you first began being together.

Of course, you both have probably made a lot of changes over the years, but your still the same people that when you first fell i...

Up to 30 people feared dead as Italian ski hotel is burried by an avalanche after large quakes struck the area yesterday "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Photo Daily Mail

Italy avalanche: ‘Many dead’ in hotel Rigopiano in Abruzzo
An Italian rescue official has said that a number of people have been killed after a hotel was hit by an avalanche, apparently triggered by an earthquake on Wednesday.
Rescuers battled overnight to reach the hotel close to the Gran Sasso mountain in the Abruzzo region.
“There are many deaths,” Antonio Crocetta, the head of a mountain rescue team, was quoted as saying.

Photo Daily Mail

Up to 30 people were in the Rigopiano hotel at the time of the avalanche.
The roof partly collapsed and local residents in Farindola alerted emergency services.
But a snowstorm and blocked routes made access to the hotel difficult and Italian media said the first rescuers only reached the hotel on skis at 04:00 (03:00 GMT) on Thursday.
Several news websites quoted the president of the province as writing on social media that an avalanche had hit the Hotel Rigopiano, saying it was buried in snow.
‘There ARE MANY victims, but it all needs to be confirmed,’ provincial President Antonio Di Marco was quoted as saying.
Four strong earthquakes shook the same region of central Italy yesterday which suffered deadly tremors last year, and could have had an affect on the avalanche.
The quakes killed one man and sent residents into panic and further isolated towns that have also been buried under more than three feet of snow for several days.
The central Lazio, Marche and Abruzzo regions have been grappling with heavy snow, and one man aged about 82 died after the snow and one of the tremors made the roof of a farm building fall on him, a fire service spokesman said.
Prime minister Paolo Gentiloni said it was a ‘difficult day’ for Italy.

VIPKID is bringing a new model of English instruction to Chinese students "IndyWatch Feed Education"

Customer: VIPKID, Beijing, China
VIPKID is an online platform that connects Chinese students aged 5 through 12 with English teachers in the U.S. and Canada. Since 2013, more than 600,000 students have enrolled in VIPKID’s one-on- one streaming courses, which give students the unique opportunity to learn from and interact with a native English speaker.

Challenge: Teacher training at scale
To serve more students while continuing to provide top-quality one-on- one instruction, VIPKID needs to attract, support, and retain outstanding English teachers – the company currently contracts about 6,000 teachers, and is adding more than 1,000 new teachers per month. In 2016, they turned to Coursera for Business to provide additional and relevant opportunities to their teacher network.

Coursera for Business Solution
Initially, VIPKID sponsored 500 teachers to take two TESOL Certificate Specializations on Coursera. The Specializations include over 140 hours of content offered in a time-flexible, goal-oriented format – a perfect fit for VIPKID teachers, many of whom are teaching remotely in order to have more control over their schedules. The company sponsorship allowed teachers to earn a high-value professional certification, usually priced at $700-$1600, at no personal cost.

Results
The 500 TESOL registration slots filled up within 48 hours of VIPKID’s announcing the opportunity to teachers. Feedback from teachers participating in the courses has been overwhelmingly positive; one learner shared this reflection on her experience:

“I have done online courses before, and they are often dry and unrealistic, obviously playing second fiddle to the institution’s ‘real’ courses. I didn’t expect much from this course – I’m very happy to admit that I was wrong! This course was fun, interesting, thought-provoking, and practical. The videos were well-done, and the personal stories made the lessons fun and memorable – I loved reading about other teachers’ thoughts and perspectives.” – Shelly Tembly,Illinois

In a survey across teachers participating in the program, 92% of respondents said th...

Mysterious Nazca-Like Site of China "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

There are some mysterious marks which some call airports near the ancient city of Dunhuang in Gansu Province, I believe.

I will provide solid evidence that these are nothing like an airport that I have ever heard of and I am a retired engineering manager and a pilot.

If one goes to Google earth an enters the latitude and longitude provided on the bottom of the first image, you can move the cursor around and see that the marks are not built up in elevation as an airport would be.

Road graders and compactors are needed to pack a field sufficiently to safely take the extreme pressure that landing gears make at times. Any yielding of the dirt would cause the plane to spin out of control. Of course, there are no support buildings or taxiways to parking areas.

Situation Update

Patrick : It has been almost seven months since we began to bury cintamani stones worldwide. I wonder if this cintamani grid of Light is now strong enough to withstand the energy of Event Flash.

Cobra : The energy grid of Cintamani stones is getting stronger and stronger,  and when the Event flash happens of course it will be strong enough, but what is even more important is that this grid is now assisting in dissolving the Yaldabaoth entity, and this is one of the reasons why it needs to be stronger and stronger because the stronger this grid is, the more it helps in final dissolution of all plasma anomaly, so this is one of the more important project that we have right now, to assist in acceleration of the Event and to assist in stabilizing the process until then.

Watch How Cannabis Ravages Cancer Cells. This Is Mind-Blowing "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

by DailyHealthPost

Believe it or not, marijuana actually has a long-standing use in Native American traditional medicine and was considered a cure-all in the early days of modern western medicine.

In fact, the plant was only outlawed from hospitals and doctor’s offices in the mid-1900s.

Thankfully, marijuana is gaining more and more traction in the United States as a respected medicinal treatment. Many people have even come forward with testimonies of having cured themselves of cancer thanks to the powerful plant.

However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not yet approved Cannabis as a treatment for cancer or any other medical condition, but many states have legalized its medicinal use (1).

Ironically, although the FDA refuses to recognize its value, cannabis-derived drugs like as dronabinol and nabilone have been approved for the treatment of cancer-related side effects.

7 Unexpected Things That Influence Your Dreams "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

by Jena Pincott; The Huffington Post You know that sounds, smells and situations can invade them; spicy food can disrupt them; and certain medications spin them out of control. But not in your wildest dreams (maybe) did you think these could play a role. 1: Your “Favored Position” Being nude, unable to move, using hand tools, making love to a celebrity (or all of the above at once)? Erotic and perverse dreams are more common among stomach sleepers than among those who favor other positions, found a Hongkongese study (face down in the pillow, privates pressed, you can imagine how). Meanwhile, Turkish researchers found that people who usually sleep on their left side have more nightmares and bizarre dreams, whereas those who slept on their right have mellower ones, with themes of relief, joy, peace and love. No surprise, right-side sleepers also felt better rested and less dysfunctional in their waking hours. (Note: A favored position is one you’re in prior to sleep and when you wake in the morning.) 2: Kindergarten Music Lessons There’s a little-known payoff to all those years of elementary school band. The younger people were when they started taking music lessons, the more often the sound of music permeated their dreams. Researchers at the University of Florence’s Sleep Lab who discovered this also found that starting formal training at an early age, when the brain was developing rapidly, had more influence on how often people experienced musical dreams than the total number of years they had lessons, or even how many hours a day they played or listened to music. Bonus finding: 28 percent of these dreams featured music the dreamers had never heard before, suggesting that we really can create original art in our sleep. Read more »

Questions Arise as Second Floating City Seen Over China in Last Two Years "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

by Buck Rogers; Waking Times

The world’s militaries have ownership of the sky, which is increasingly being weaponized to host elaborate surveillance, communication and warfare technologies. The public has only a very narrow understanding of some of the programs of which information has been publicly released. For example, we know a little about the space fence, rods from god, HAARP, the laser development atmospheric lens, experimentation with atmospheric spraying, geoengineering, and a handful of other endeavors, but we really have no idea of the full extent of what is being developed and tested in secret.

When something extraordinary and unexplainable is seen up above, we have to ask if it is a natural phenomenon, a hoax, or a government program. For the second time in the last two years a floating holographic city has been seen and recorded by numerous people in mainland China, and many are asking these very questions.

It is impossible at this point to rule out a hoax, for as we know, computer graphics are sufficiently advanced to fool even the well-trained eye, however, video of this event is not yet being challenged by media sources as a hoax on the basis of multiple recordings and eye-...

"The divers had found evidence of roads and large columns, some with concentric spiral motifs, in the exact place described by the Greek philosopher Plato".

The administration of thymoquinone before during and after renal ischemia-reperfusion injury appears to have ameliorated the injury. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Int J Physiol Pathophysiol Pharmacol. 2016 ;8(4):152-159. Epub 2016 Dec 25. PMID: 28078054 Abstract Title:  The effect of thymoquinone on the renal functions following ischemia-reperfusion injury in the rat. Abstract:  INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of thymoquinone, an antioxidant phytochemical compound found in the plant Nigella sativa, on the alterations in renal functional parameters following warm renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in the rat.METHODS: Wistar rats underwent left renal ischemia for 35 minutes. Group-TQ (n=15) received thymoquinone 10 mg/kg/day (dissolved in a vehicle (corn oil) orally by gavage starting 4 days prior to IRI and continued 6 days thereafter when the hemodynamic and tubular renal functions of the right and left kidneys were measured using clearance techniques. Group-Vx (n=15) underwent similar protocol but received only the vehicle.RESULTS: IRI affected all hemodynamic and tubular parameters in the affected kidney. Thymoquinone attenuated the IRI-related alteration in renal functions so when the left ischemic kidney in Group-TQ and Group-Vx were compared, the left RBF and GFR were significantly higher in Group-TQ (2.02±0.39 vs. 1.27±0.21, P=0.04 and 0.33±0.08 vs. 0.18±0.03, P=0.03, respectively). Thymoquinone also improved left renal FENa (1.59±0.28 vs. 2.40±0.35, P=0.04). In addition, it decreased the gene expressions of KIM-1, NGAL, TNF-α, TGF-β1 and PAI-1 (143±20 vs. 358±49, 16±3 vs. 34±6, (1.1±0.2 vs. 2.8±0.4, 1.6±0.1 vs. 2.8±0.1, and 2.4±0.3 vs. 5.8±1.0, P

Pterostilbene might be used to modulate two anticancer compounds in well-defined sets of GBM patients. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Oncotarget. 2016 Nov 8 ;7(45):73200-73215. PMID: 27689322 Abstract Title:  Case-specific potentiation of glioblastoma drugs by pterostilbene. Abstract:  Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM, astrocytoma grade IV) is the most common malignant primary brain tumor in adults. Addressing the shortage of effective treatment options for this cancer, we explored repurposing of existing drugs into combinations with potent activity against GBM cells. We report that the phytoalexin pterostilbene is a potentiator of two drugs with previously reported anti-GBM activity, the EGFR inhibitor gefitinib and the antidepressant sertraline. Combinations of either of these two compounds with pterostilbene suppress cell growth, viability, sphere formation and inhibit migration in tumor GBM cell (GC) cultures. The potentiating effect of pterostilbene was observed to a varying degree across a panel of 41 patient-derived GCs, and correlated in a case specific manner with the presence of missense mutation of EGFR and PIK3CA and a focal deletion of the chromosomal region 1p32. We identify pterostilbene-induced cell cycle arrest, synergistic inhibition of MAPK activity and induction of Thioredoxin interacting protein (TXNIP) as possible mechanisms behind pterostilbene's effect. Our results highlight a nontoxic stilbenoid compound as a modulator of anticancer drug response, and indicate that pterostilbene might be used to modulate two anticancer compounds in well-defined sets of GBM patients.

pterostilbene attenuated high glucose-induced central nervous system injury in vitro. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Biochim Biophys Acta. 2017 Jan 9. Epub 2017 Jan 9. PMID: 28089584 Abstract Title:  Pterostilbene attenuates high glucose-induced oxidative injury in hippocampal neuronal cells by activating nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2. Abstract:  In the present study, neuroblastoma (SH-SY5Y) cells were used to investigate the mechanisms mediating the potential protective effects of pterostilbene (PTE) against mitochondrial metabolic impairment and oxidative stress induced by hyperglycemia for mimicking the diabetic encephalopathy. High glucose medium (100 mM) decreased cellular viability after 24 h incubation which was evidenced by: (i) reduced mitochondrial complex I and III activities; (ii) reduced mitochondrial cytochrome C; (iii) increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation; (iv) decreased mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm); and (v) increased lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels. PTE (2.5, 5, and 10 μM for 24 h) was nontoxic and induced the nuclear transition of Nrf2. Pretreatment of PTE (2.5, 5, and 10 μM for 2 h) displayed a dose-dependently neuroprotective effect, as indicated by significantly prevented highglucose-induced loss of cellular viability, generation of ROS, reduced mitochondrial complex I and III activities, reduced mitochondrial cytochrome C, decreased ΔΨm, and increased LDH levels. Moreover, the levels of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) were elevated after PTE treatment. In addition, the elevation of nuclear Nrf2 by PTE treatment (10 μM for 2 h) was abolished by Nrf2 siRNA. Importantly, Nrf2 siRNA induced the opposite changes in mitochondrial complex I and III activities, mitochondrial cytochrome C, reactive species generation, ΔΨm, and LDH. Overall, the present findings were the first to show that pterostilbene attenuated high glucose-induced central nervous system injury in vitro through the activation of Nrf2 signaling, displaying protective effects against mitochondrial dysfunction-derivedoxidative stress.

Abstract:  Damage of retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells by A2E may be critical for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) management. Accumulation and photooxidation of A2E are known to be one of the critical causes in AMD. Here, we evaluated the protective effect of resveratrol (RES), piceatannol (PIC) and RES glycones on blue-light-induced RPE cell death caused by A2E photooxidation. A2E treatment followed by blue light exposure caused significant damages on human RPE cells (ARPE-19). But the damages were attenuated by post- and pre-treatment of RES and PIC in our in vitro models. The results of cell free system and FAB-MS analysis clearly showed that the reduction of A2E by blue light exposure was significantly rescued, and that oxidized forms of A2E were significantly reduced by RES or PIC treatment. Besides, RES or PIC inhibited the intracellular accumulation of A2E. Not only RES and PIC but RES glycones showed protection of ARPE-19 cells against A2E and blue-light-induced photo-damage. These findings demonstrate that RES and its analogs may have protective effects against A2E and blue-light-induced ARPE-19 cell death through regulation of A2E accumulation as well as photooxidation of A2E. Thus RES and its analogs may be beneficial for AMD treatment.

Hygge - The Perfect Word To Include In Your Postpartum Plan "IndyWatch Feed Fertility"

The Oxford Dictionary’s word of the year shortlist was a little depressing for 2016, featuring words such as ‘alt-right’ and ‘post-truth'. But there was one little gem of a word in there that I absolutely LOVE for postpartum…

Hygge, pronounce hoo-guh, means a “quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.”

As a word lover it is a word that has always fascinated me, especially since there is no direct English translation. Recently it seems to have grown beyond it’s Danish origins and made it’s way into English use globally.

I used to tell a story at my free pregnancy classes about a Korean woman who said she felt ‘pampered’ after the birth of her baby. At the time I loved that word for postpartum, and would ask my clients if they felt pampered. But now I think hygge is even better.

Hygge is associated with indulgence and relaxation, but also has a foundation of simplicity and gratitude that make it more homely and comforting. Hygge is not grand or pretentious, it’s not ambitious or competitive. Hygge has a more balanced, harmonious and satisfied feeling.

Despite the climate, the Danes are some of the happiest people on Earth, so I think it’s well worth taking a leaf out of their book. Here are some ways to incorporate Hygge into your postpartum plan:

  • Candles or an open fire
  • Pots of tea or coffee with cardamom
  • Essential oils of pine, orange, rosemary and cinnamon.
  • Merino wool socks and your favourite old leggings
  • Mulled wine (yes, you can drink when you are breastfeeding!)
  • Warm porridge with honey

But hygge also implies a warm and welcoming social atmosphere, which means no conflict, judgement and no discussing politics or economics. Hygge means spending time with loved ones and creating a refuge or a safe haven.

A perfect intention for a Newborn Mother and her newborn baby.

The possession of Eleonore Zugun and the devils coins "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

12 year old Eleonore Zugun was delighted when she discovered coins in the street near her home in Bukovina.

As most children would, she picked them up and purchased some candy at the local store, eating it on her way home.

When she cheerfully told her grandmother about her good fortune, an atmosphere fell over the room. The old woman grimaced and scolded the child, “Those were the devils coins” she said “Now the devil is in you”.

It was at that moment that little Elanore’s life changed forever.

Violent paranormal activity plagued her life, windows smashed when she entered a room, objects shifted around by some unseen force, chairs and tables levitated, scratches and claw marks appeared on her face, arms and back.

The activity was not dampened by her stay in a covenant.
Not even an exorcism by the local church could yield results.

Three Silk Road Vendors Convicted for Online Drug Distribution "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

http://ift.tt/2jEYxRk

A federal jury in Orlando, Florida, found Julian Villa-Gomez Lemus, a 31-year-old from Visalia, CA, guilty of selling drugs via the darknet. Previously—or very shortly before but within the same week—Julian Villa-Gomez Lemus watched his conspirators plead guilty for the same or very similar crimes. All of the defendants shared a conviction: conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. However, the degree of each charge varied amongst the men.

According to the indictment, Julian Villa-Gomez, Fadhle Muqbel Saeed, and Alfonso Bojorquez-Vazquez involved themselves in said drug dealing conspiracy. The six-count indictment, only recently unsealed, charged the three with conspiracy to distribute several drugs: marijuana, methamphetamine, and hydrocodone. In addition to the conspiracy charges, the indictment accused the men of aiding and abetting each other and those both “known and unknown to the jury.”

The entire case raised questions online—specifically /r/darknetmarkets—based on the number of aliases involved. For instance, Saeed went by darkexpresso, bonappetit, and Damien Darko. The list of associated cases for some of the men took a decent amount of time to read through. Reddit users questioned why the government waited so long to make the arrests.

The indictment itself only accused the group with marijuana, methamphetamine, and hydrocodone distribution. However, the recent announcement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida mentions those substances, along with additional ones. According to the announcement mentioned above, the group sold cocaine and steroids as well. “The drugs were sent to purchasers throughout the United States and Australia,” the announcement stated.

During the hearing, according to the DEA, the courtroom heard the classic spiel on how to buy from the darknet, how to buy bitcoins, etc. The group, including known and possibly unknown individuals, conducted 1,300 transactions on Silk Road 2. The gross proceeds of those sales amounted to more than $1.9m—all of which must be forfeited.

The indictment revealed that the group sold starting as earl...

PMID:  Nutrients. 2016 Jun 15 ;8(6). Epub 2016 Jun 15. PMID: 27314384 Abstract Title:  Piceatannol and Other Wine Stilbenes: A Pool of Inhibitors againstα-Synuclein Aggregation and Cytotoxicity. Abstract:  The aggregation ofα-synuclein is one on the key pathogenic events in Parkinson's disease. In the present study, we investigated the inhibitory capacities of stilbenes against α-synuclein aggregation and toxicity. Thioflavin T fluorescence, transmission electronic microscopy, and SDS-PAGE analysis were performed toinvestigate the inhibitory effects of three stilbenes against α-synuclein aggregation: piceatannol, ampelopsin A, and isohopeaphenol. Lipid vesicle permeabilization assays were performed to screen stilbenes for protection against membrane damage induced by aggregated α-synuclein. The viability ofPC12 cells was examined using an MTT assay to assess the preventive effects of stilbenes against α-synuclein-induced toxicity. Piceatannol inhibited the formation of α synuclein fibrils and was able to destabilize preformed filaments. It seems to induce the formation of small soluble complexes protecting membranes against α-synuclein-induced damage. Finally, piceatannol protected cells against α-synuclein-induced toxicity. The oligomers tested (ampelopsin A and hopeaphenol) were less active.

I don’t need to come right out and say why Peter Leight’s poem “The Business of Power,” from our Spring-Summer 1978 issue, appeals to me at present. Just to see the words Business and Power sharing a line is probably more than enough for you to get the gist. I’m not going to raise an eyebrow at the “lumps, muffs, stomach folds, pendant chins” that comprise the bodies of the ruling class, as Leight describes them; nor am I going to note that a phrase like “showcasing girth” is so sickeningly relevant right now as to make one wince; nor will I sally forth and deliver my long thesis on the lines “they mask their puissance and assume a cheapness that ensures / acceptability,” because you know what that thesis is—we’re all living it. So here, then, just read the poem: it may as well have been written two minutes ago, and I fear we’ll be saying the same after another thirty-nine years have passed. It begins,

Even in Rembrandt’s portraits,
they don’t look like a ruling class,
and their wives are no less pronounced, prizing money not blood, merit
rather than patronage, showcasing girth as though business

set a standard of living
they merely adhered to. Rembrandt

Resveratrol and piceatannol selectively trigger death in cancer but not somatic cells. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Cell Physiol Biochem. 2016 ;39(4):1404-20. Epub 2016 Sep 9. PMID: 27606689 Abstract Title:  Resveratrol Specifically Kills Cancer Cells by a Devastating Increase in the Ca2+ Coupling Between the Greatly Tethered Endoplasmic Reticulum and Mitochondria. Abstract:  BACKGROUND/AIMS: Resveratrol and its derivate piceatannol are known to induce cancer cell-specific cell death. While multiple mechanisms of actions have been described including the inhibition of ATP synthase, changes in mitochondrial membrane potential and ROS levels, the exact mechanisms of cancer specificity of these polyphenols remain unclear. This paper is designed to reveal the molecular basis of the cancer-specific initiation of cell death by resveratrol and piceatannol.METHODS: The two cancer cell lines EA.hy926 and HeLa, and somatic short-term cultured HUVEC were used. Cell viability and caspase 3/7 activity were tested. Mitochondrial, cytosolic and endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ as well as cytosolic and mitochondrial ATP levels were measured using single cell fluorescence microscopy and respective genetically-encoded sensors. Mitochondria-ER junctions were analyzed applying super-resolution SIM and ImageJ-based image analysis.RESULTS: Resveratrol and piceatannol selectively trigger death in cancer but not somatic cells. Hence, these polyphenols strongly enhanced mitochondrial Ca2+ uptake in cancer exclusively. Resveratrol and piceatannol predominantly affect mitochondrial but not cytosolic ATP content that yields in a reduced SERCA activity. Decreased SERCA activity and the strongly enriched tethering of the ER and mitochondria in cancer cells result in an enhanced MCU/Letm1-dependent mitochondrial Ca2+ uptake upon intracellular Ca2+ release exclusively in cancer cells. Accordingly, resveratrol/piceatannol-induced cancer cell death could be prevented by siRNA-mediated knock-down of MCU and Letm1.CONCLUSIONS: Because their greatly enriched ER-mitochondria tethering, cancer cells are highly susceptible for resveratrol/piceatannol-induced reduction of SERCA activity to yield mitochondrial Ca2+ overload and subsequent cancer cell death.

PMID:  Adv Exp Med Biol. 2016;928:185-211. PMID: 27671818 Abstract Title:  Therapeutic Potential and Molecular Targets of Piceatannol in Chronic Diseases. Abstract:  Piceatannol (3,3',4,5'-tetrahydroxy-trans-stilbene; PIC) is a naturally occurring stilbene present in diverse plant sources. PIC is a hydroxylated analog of resveratrol and produced from resveratrol by microsomal cytochrome P450 1A11/2 and 1B1 activities. Like resveratrol, PIC has a broad spectrum of health beneficial effects, many of which are attributable to its antioxidative and anti-inflammatory activities. PIC exerts anticarcinogenic effects by targeting specific proteins involved in regulating cancer cell proliferation, survival/death, invasion, metastasis, angiogenesis, etc. in tumor microenvironment. PIC also has other health promoting and disease preventing functions, such as anti-obese, antidiabetic, neuroptotective, cardioprotective, anti-allergic, anti-aging properties. This review outlines the principal biological activities of PIC and underlying mechanisms with special focus on intracellular signaling molecules/pathways involved.

5 Signs Something Might Be Going Down on Inauguration Day

CNN: If Trump is Killed During Inauguration, Obama Appointee Would be President

by Paul Joseph Watson

CNN has been criticized for airing a report which revealed that an Obama appointee would become president if Donald Trump was killed during an attack on the inauguration tomorrow.

Entitled Disaster could put Obama cabinet member in Oval Office, the report admits that there is no specific threat targeting the inauguration, but goes on to speculate about “who would be in charge if an attack hit the incoming president….just as the transfer of power is underway”.

An individual named the “designated presidential successor” will not attend the inauguration as a security precaution, “but it won’t be a Trump cabinet secretary….it will be an Obama appointee,” reports CNN.

The report emphasizes that “a president from the prior administration” will take power if there is an attack due to the fact that none of Trump’s cabinet secre...

Piceatannol has a superior effect to resveratrol in promoting astrocyte differentiation. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Food Funct. 2016 Oct 12 ;7(10):4432-4441. PMID: 27713945 Abstract Title:  Piceatannol is superior to resveratrol in promoting neural stem cell differentiation into astrocytes. Abstract:  Piceatannol (3,3',4',5-trans-tetrahydroxystilbene) is a polyphenolic compound abundant in the seeds of passion fruit (Passiflora edulis). Piceatannol is an analogue of resveratrol (3,4',5-trans-trihydroxystilbene) and shares the structural motif and biological activities such as activation of SIRT1. Several studies have shown that piceatannol is more potent than resveratrol. In this study, we examined the effects of piceatannol on neural stem cell differentiation into astrocytes compared with those of resveratrol. At a concentration of 2.5μM, piceatannol promoted astrocyte differentiation, while resveratrol had no effect at this concentration. Furthermore, we found that oral administration of piceatannol increased the number of astrocytes in the brains of adult mice, while resveratrol administration showed no effects. These resultssuggest that piceatannol has a superior effect to resveratrol in promoting astrocyte differentiation.

Atomic Cross-Chain Trading & Blockchain Interoperability

Is Atomic Cross-Blockchain Interoperability the Future of Finance?

Indeed, interoperability might be 2017’s Bitcoin buzzword. One way of achieving interoperability, in a way which steers clear of third party trust and single points of failure, is via atomic cross-chain trading. The transaction method entails two parties, controlling different cryptocurrencies (Litecoin as usual suspect), securely exchanging the cryptocurrencies sans intermediary.

In computer programming, atomic denotes a unitary action or object that is indivisible, unchangeable, whole, and irreducible.  “An ‘atomic’ exchange should either fully complete, or be canceled, with the money ending up back where it started. In particular, it shouldn’t be possible for half of the exchange to go through and one party end up with all the money,” according to cryptocurrency programmer Thomas Young, who wrote on the concept as early as 2014. Atomic cross-chain trading could technically be executed per an Ethereum smart contract, say proponents of that public block...

Piceatannol altered the composition of the gut microbiota by increasing Firmicutes and Lactobacillus and decreasing Bacteroidetes. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  Molecules. 2016 Oct 25 ;21(11). Epub 2016 Oct 25. PMID: 27792146 Abstract Title:  Piceatannol Exerts Anti-Obesity Effects in C57BL/6 Mice through Modulating Adipogenic Proteins and Gut Microbiota. Abstract:  Obesity is a global health concern. Piceatannol (Pic), an analog of resveratrol (Res), has many reported biological activities. In this study, we investigated the anti-obesity effect of Pic in a high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obese animal model. The results showed that Pic significantly reduced mouse body weight in a dose-dependent manner without affecting food intake. Serum total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels, and blood glucose (GLU) were significantly lowered in Pic-treated groups. Pic significantly decreased the weight of liver, spleen, perigonadal and retroperitoneal fat compared with the HFD group. Pic significantly reduced the adipocyte cell size of perigonadal fat and decreased the weight of liver. Pic-treated mice showed higher phosphorylated adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (pAMPK) and phosphorylated acetyl-CoA carboxylase (pACC) protein levels and decreased protein levels of CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein C/EBPα, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor PPARγ and fatty acid synthase (FAS), resulting in decreased lipid accumulation in adipocytes and the liver. Pic altered the composition of the gut microbiota by increasing Firmicutes and Lactobacillus and decreasing Bacteroidetes compared with the HFDgroup. Collectively, these results suggest that Pic may be a candidate for obesity treatment.

Considering the Role of University Art Museums on #J20 "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A view of ICA Philadelphia (image courtesy ICA Philadelphia)

Editor’s note: This part of a series of essays commissioned by Hyperallergic about the #J20 Art Strike, whose purpose and terms are articulated in a letter signed by dozens of critics, artists, curators, and gallerists. The #J20 Art Strike is proposed in solidarity with other #J20 actions taking place across the country that demand business does not proceed as usual on inauguration day. The art strike asks individuals and institutions to close or otherwise observe the day of noncompliance.

*    *   *

Last week, several items came to my attention at the same time: the New York Times coverage of a call for an art strike in solidarity with a general strike on Inauguration Day, Adam Weinberg’s response to this call, and a steady stream of emails requesting additional signatories to the open letter from artists associated with #J20. Conversation inside and beyond the museum ensued.

For 10 years, I directed Visual AIDS, the organization behind Day With(out) Art. So the idea of shuttering museums, galleries, and cultural institutions in “action and mourning” and “in solidarity” (specifically with “people living with AIDS and their caregivers” to follow the language of early DWA) makes certain sense to me. A strike is a tactic among tactics and Visual AIDS evolved DWA into an opportunity to unite the art world(s) around the ongoing crisis, the history of art AIDS activism, and the work of HIV-positive artists. With this in mind, I am buoyed by the current call to strike, the willingness of artists to issue it publicly, and by the need to respond.

Economic Boost Already Before Trump Is Even In Office "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Trump Effect

The “Trump Effect” as the media has called it, is basically the enhanced economic activity being felt in the US economy due to a positive market environment created by both optimism and pro-growth policies of the new White House. Already after the Carrier jobs negotiation keeping American employment stateside rather than allowing it to be exported to Mexico or elsewhere the markets arr abuzz. Corporations such as General Motors and Hyundai are infusing billion into the US economy as a result of the recognition that President Trump has the savvy that will resurrect a stagnant US job and market situation that has remained that way since 2009.

Lame Duck

With President Obama on his way out and the artificially created poll numbers that were fabricated when one has to look at the final analysis. Coming to the conclusion that with such factors as a 1978 level of labor participation, the lowest since 1949, with lowest economic growth of any recovery in US history at below annual less than 2% rates, and record welfare and food stamp levels mark the telltale indicators that big government and Democrat rule do not reflect results! Add to this toxic mix the fact that the final employment numbers of the closing fiscal period had job numbers adjusted downwards from 211,000 to an actual 11.000 actual created jobs once you analyze through the smoke and mirrors of the government's labor report thanks to Business analyst John Crudele.

Smart dust is a name given to extremely small computing particles, RFID chips, or other very small technologies.

A popular article from Extreme Tech describes it in the headline: “Smart dust: A complete computer that’s smaller than a grain of sand.” An article from War is Boring is titled “Future Military Sensors Could Be Tiny Specks of ‘Smart Dust’ New technologies allow for extremely small—and ubiquitous—military sensors.” A paper from University of California, San Diego describes smart dust:

“The term “smart dust” originally referred to miniature wireless semiconductor devices made using fabrication techniques derived from the microelectronics industry. These devices incorporate sensing, computing and communications in a centimetre-sized package.”

It is promoted as an eventuality, that smart dust will cover streets and buildings to identify people, that people will have smart dust in their bodies, and other things in mainstream television and media. They paint a utopian, blissful picture of it.

However, the history of entities involved in creating smart dust show a different perspective. The same entities who create destructive technology (drones, surveillance technology, technology for warfare) are involved with its creation: military industrial complex players, from the RAND Corporation to Hitachi, to DARPA and their collaborators in academia.

As with all technology, the people who wield it determine whether it’s used for the benefit of, or against the common people.

The earliest mentions of “smart dust” come from ...

Clinton Family Friend Arrested After Threatening to Assassinate Trump: “I Am Following Orders” "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

20170118_puop1

This article was written by Lily Dane and Melissa Dykes and originally published at The Daily Sheeple.

Editor’s Comment: There is an abundance of creepy, foreboding anomalies and events taking place ahead of the inauguration. Is something chaotic going to happen? Will an attempt be made on Donald Trump’s life? There shouldn’t be any reason to think so, despite plenty of people who dislike or hate the president-elect. Hopefully that is certainly not the case.

Nonetheless, proper protocol should be in place. But if for any reason it isn’t, the magnifying glass will turn around on the intelligence community officials that Trump has defied, and those who have been connected to the sources of contention and disorder – in this case, a man, possibly deranged, with conspicuously close ties to the woman who was almost elected president instead, and desperately wanted the job.

Such a move would be drastic, and unprecedented, and very transparent. Nonetheless, it would surely plunge this country into very difficult constitutional questions, and a battle for who retain control of the country. Civil disorder, riots and even civil war is at stake. Short of that would surely come a chaotic battle for a successor, for special elections, and a reassessment of everything that has gone wrong.

Why are we even contemplating this nightmare? Ask those who’ve been dangling the suggestion of it in the media for the past several weeks; those who’ve joked or sniped about a coup against the president-elect, and those who would use fear to rule, and intimidation to undue anyone who would challenge an order based on fear. There are many sides to this story, and even more who stand to gain.

“I am following orders”: Clinton Family Friend Threatens to Assassinate Trump — on Video

British Politician Warns Trump ‘CIA Is Plotting Assassination’ "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

George Galloway, a somewhat popular, yet wildly leftist English politician has been known for saying exactly what he believes. Due to this, its no wonder that he is now speaking out against the CIA, and while doing so, warning Trump of a “soft coup d’etat” along with plans to assassinate him.

In the video below, George Galloway explains that British intelligence services have been known for creating forged documents in order to ruin world leaders reputations and political standings.

“In 1925 something called the Zinoviev letter helped to bring down the first ever Labour government in Britain. It purported to be a letter from the head of the Comintern, Gregory Zinoviev, to his lieutenants in British politics, giving them their marching orders and in particular inciting them to acts of sedition with the British military forces.”

“This bought down the Labour Prime Minister even though it was quite quickly proved to be a forgery that had been produced by, you guessed it, British intelligence services. That bought down the Prime Ministership of Ramsey MacDonald – and this one is aimed at another Donald. Donald Trump.“

Continuing, he expounds on why he feels that the deep government is going to attempt to have Trump removed. He says that the coup that is currently assembling against him are not just the “usual suspects.” No, rather than the “War Party” as defined by Senator John McCain, or spy agencies known for killing their opponents.

Instead, it is a group of Liberals that are so filled with hatred towards Trump that they have begun accepting with open arms, some of the worst people in the entire world. “The David Frums, the John McCains. They have embraced the CIA, that once upon a time they would have know were their natural predators.”

Continuing, he added, “And that bizarre coalition, the War Party, the liberals, the spy agencies, the military industrial complex – which stands to lose almost everything if the tension in the world, war in the world, becomes a thing of the past. That’s a very toxic and dangerous coalition.”

Galloway has served 31 years in British Parliament. While his warning may seem a bit intense, it appears that he has quite a bit of knowledge regarding the goings on of the world, as well as those who are pulling the strings. The video is short, but to the point. Not only does he discuss his opinions on the CIA planning to either ruin or assassinate Trump, he also ref...

The Deliberate Mishandling of Obama’s Oath, No Bible, One Bible, Two Bibles more... "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

2009 - No Bible...

For the many of you who may be unaware what happened on the 20th January 2009, - when Barack Obama first took his inauguration, there was in my opinion and I’m not alone with this view, an intentional blunder made in the ‘swearing-in’ by Judge John G. Roberts during the oath taking ceremony by Obama, that then invalidated the inauguration, that led on to out-cries for it to be retaken again. – When yet again Roberts purposely made sure the second oath-taking didn’t go ahead as tradition expected it to either, - and I will hopefully be able to prove it right here, - that these tactics were deliberate and pre-meditated to come about.

The reason I say there was a deliberate botch-up in the wording of the oath in the inauguration of Barack Obama, – was due to the fact, - that this would then give rise to ‘second oath’ having to be required, though this time around held in private.

15 Street Artists Who Use the World as Their Playground "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

playful urban art

Street artists like Banksy and Space Invader have been playing with city dwellers for years, placing their work strategically for maximum impact. In fact, artists around the globe are constantly integrating their artwork into the landscape in unexpected ways. Working in large and small scale, the techniques and scope of work differ, but one thing they all have in common is their clever use of space.

The scene is filled with talent who use their creativity to surprise and delight spectators. Some artists, like Clet and Aakash Nihalani, use adhesive tape to transform surfaces. While others, like Biancoshock and Brad Downey, often stage complex projects that are best appreciated through viewing a set of photos or video.

Street art is more than just painted murals, and these 15 street artists prove this point with their ingenious work.

Banners painted with messages of love, unity, and resilience now adorn the facades of dozens of buildings around Philadelphia and Atlanta as a response to what organizers of the coordinated drops describe as “a global shift towards fear and exclusivity.” Although the dual-city effort’s urge for America to come together launched today to coincide with Donald Trump’s inauguration, it is not a protest directed at America’s least popular president in decades but rather serves as a visual stance against hate and divisiveness during this particularly tense weekend.

A Performance Artist Makes Space for Silence in an Oversaturated World "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Meredith Monk plays Jew’s harp during her Penny Stamps Distinguished Speaker lecture, “Pioneering Performance,” at the Michigan Theater. (all photos by the author for Hyperallergic)

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — “Art is addicted to distraction.”

That was a bold statement near the conclusion of a lecture by Meredith Monk, part of the Penny Stamps Distinguished Speaker Series sponsored by the Stamps School of Art & Design at University of Michigan. Monk’s talk, “Pioneering Performance,” offered an overview of her dynamic 50-year career in discipline-shattering multimedia performance art, a few snippets of live performance, and primed the audience for a staging of her newest musical theater work, On Behalf of Nature, which will take place on Friday at the Power Center. On Behalf of Nature was released by ECM Records in November of last year, and this month is the fourth anniversary of the debut performance of On Behalf of Nature.

In the part of her lecture that focused on this most recent work, Monk drew together some of her overarching themes, including Tibetan Buddhism, meditative performance, and the shamanic tradition of giving voice to things that don’t have voices of their own. Within this tradition, she identified two main tenets for On Behalf of Nature: telling the truth, and embodying forms of nature. Because the musical components of the work are incredibly complex, Monk described developing the choreography of the accompanying movements as “giving myself courage to have those elements be simple.”

(Stillness in the Storm Editor) The following is one part in an article series discussing the Draco or reptilian forces that have interfered with human affairs for most of human history, so it is claimed. I cannot confirm if every point provided is accurate, however, there is much provided below that is worthy of consideration.

Although the article is from 2014, there is a wealth of information that is still of great value as it discusses how these extraterrestrial overlords interact with their human cohorts on Earth. The idea of a secret space war, has been brought forward by other insiders since this article was originally published, suggesting some of the assertions below were corroborated after the fact.

The art strike asks individuals and institutions to close or otherwise observe the day of noncompliance.

The twists and turns of the 2016 US presidential election reverberated around the globe, so that, sitting with friends in Shinjuku this past autumn, we had much to discuss. Donald Trump provided particular fodder. In the course of campaigning, he commented that he might have supported the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II; stated that if the US were attacked, the Japanese could “sit home and watch Sony television”; and expressed support for nuclear proliferation in East Asia. However, it was his proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the US or create a registry system based on faith or ethnicity that brought chilling echoes of a suppressed chapter of US history:...

Piceatannol may be a beneficial therapeutic agent for treating renal fibrosis. "IndyWatch Feed Health"

PMID:  PLoS One. 2016 ;11(11):e0167340. Epub 2016 Nov 30. PMID: 27902771 Abstract Title:  Piceatannol Attenuates Renal Fibrosis Induced by Unilateral Ureteral Obstruction via Downregulation of Histone Deacetylase 4/5 or p38-MAPK Signaling. Abstract:  Piceatannol, a resveratrol metabolite, is a phenolic compound found in red wine and grapes. We investigated the effect of piceatannol on renal fibrosis and histone deacetylase (HDAC) expression in a mouse model of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). Fibrosis was established by UUO and piceatannol was intraperitoneally injected for 2 weeks. Piceatannol suppressed extracellular matrix (ECM) protein deposition including collagen type I and fibronectin as well as connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) andα-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in UUO kidneys. However, the expressions of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) marker genes, such as N-cadherin and E-cadherin, were not changed in the kidneys after UUO. Masson's trichrome staining and fluorescence immunostaining showed that piceatannol administration attenuated collagen deposition in UUO kidneys. HDAC1, HDAC4, HDAC5, HDAC6, and HDAC10 protein expression was upregulated in UUO kidneys, whereas that of HDAC8 was downregulated. Piceatannol treatment significantly reduced HDAC4 and HDAC5 protein expression. Further, piceatannol attenuated phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38-MAPK) in UUO kidneys, but not that of transforming growth factor beta1-Smad2/3. These results suggest that class I HDACs and class IIa/b HDACs are involved in renal fibrosis development. Piceatannol may be a beneficial therapeutic agent for treating renal fibrosis via reduction of HDAC4 and HDAC5 protein expression or suppression of the p38-MAPK signaling pathway.

But the word “activists” could always simply be translated to mean “terrorists” since the “activists” were actually gun-toting fighters funded, organized, and directed by the West, NATO, GCC, and Israel.

Five Artists, Writers, and Curators Share Their Inauguration Day Plans "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

(graphic by Paul Soulellis)

I recently have been having conversations about what I plan to do on the inauguration day (a day that will no doubt live in infamy if we just give it enough time). The thought of having to witness and worse listen to the manufactured consent summoned to celebrate that mean-spirited, buffoon of a carnival barker ascending to the office of president almost sends me into a fugue state. So when the question has arisen in conversation my attempts at answering have been rambling, unfocused, and at times damn near stuporific. For a long time I was still unsure what to do besides rend my clothes and go to work covered in sackcloth and ashes. However, it turns out I will likely join the Women’s March on Washington, not merely as an ally, but as an accomplice (a key difference Laura Raicovich hipped me to).

I want to stand with and give material and bodily support to those who march against the retrograde politics this incoming administration represents. As I suspect I will increasingly need to do in the coming weeks and months, and perhaps years I leaned on colleagues and friends to tell me what they were planning to do, and took guidance from their telling.

Below, five artists, curators, and writers who I know have answered the question “What will you do on inauguration day?” with insight, wit, and a ravenous will. I have edited their responses on for clarity and length. I take inspiration from all of them, and believe you can too.
