Help support a good vaccine bill in the Maryland Legislature! "IndyWatch Feed Food"

A new bill, HB 1161, would require healthcare providers to inform patients and parents of minors about the risks of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines by handing out an information sheet and to obtain written consent prior to administering any HPV vaccine each time.

This important bill would also require healthcare providers to apprise about the right to refuse HPV vaccines, that the vaccines may not be effective, and that you cannot sue if you or your child is injured by the shots.

HB 1161 also provides liability protection for healthcare providers from any cause of action for providing the information.

HPV vaccination can carry life-threatening side effects.  There have been more than 73,000 adverse reactions, including many deaths, reported to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) related to the HPV vaccine and it is estimated by the government that only 1% of all reactions are ever reported!

Did you know that the HPV vaccine, called Gardasil 9:

  • may actually increase precancerous lesions
  • only targets a few of the over 100 known human papillomaviruses
  • has not been shown to last longer than 5 years

And it has never been properly studied, despite the tens of thousands of adverse reactions that have been reported to the government in connection with the HPV vaccine.

Patients and parents have the right to know about the real and not rare side effects of this high-risk vaccine!

Please help us support this bill!

Hi, my name is ____, and I am a constituent.  I am calling to ask Delegate ____ to SUPPORT HB 1161.

I support any legislation that would inform patients and parents about the risks involved in getting HPV vaccines.

I also support this legislation because it requires healthcare providers to obtain written consent prior to administration of the vaccines.

HPV vaccines carry a high rate of side effects, with tens of thousands of reported adverse reactions and hundreds of reported deaths.

These vaccines have high levels of aluminum, which has been found to be harmful in numerous peer-reviewed scientific studies.

Thanks to the <a href="https://birthphotographers.com/" rel= "noopener" target="_blank">International Association of Professional Birth Photographers</a> (IAPBP), families have access to birth photographers from around the world. The winning imagery captures the full range of childbirth, from water births to cesarean sections to the incredible moment when a child takes its first breath. But, at the same time, the competition also acknowledges that giving birth does not always mean taking a child home. The new hardship & loss subcategory is a reminder that still-born and miscarried babies also need to be honored and that through photography, families who experience loss will always be able to carry their children with them.

Help stop a bad vaccine bill in the California Legislature! "IndyWatch Feed Food"

Recently we sent you an alert regarding AB 659, which would add Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines to the list of vaccines required for children to attend school in California.

This bill has been amended and is now the college HPV vaccine mandate bill.

It includes:

  • A requirement that all 6th graders and their parents receive a notice stating that it is public policy to get vaccinated with the HPV vaccine and that all students should have received the vaccine by 8th grade.
  • The addition of a HPV vaccine requirement for enrollment at a California State University, the University of California and at any Community College if those entities pass a resolution to require it.  Only a medical exemption would be allowed.

This terrible bill is currently in committee a, but due to the rushed nature of the bill and intense pressure from all sides, the Assembly Health Committee has postponed its hearing for AB 659 until April.  It must be voted on by the committee either April 11, 18 or 25 for it to pass out of the Assembly this year.

If AB 659 is heard on one of those dates, you may wish to go to Sacramento to give your public comment, as there will be only in person (no telephonic) public comment allowed.

  • has not been shown to last longer than 5 years

And it has never been properly studied, despite the tens of thousands of adverse reactions that have been reported to the government in connection with the HPV vaccine.

Students should not be required to get this high-risk vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease!

Please help us stop this bill!

TAKE ACTION:

Even if youve already done so, please contact your California Assembly Member asking him/her to OPPOSE AB 659.

Peer-To-Peer Bitcoin Exchange Paxful Suspends Marketplace "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The exchange cites staff departures and regulatory challenges for the suspension, saying theyre not sure if it will come back.

Paxful, one of the worlds largest peer-to-peer (P2P) cryptocurrency exchanges by volume, has announced the suspension of its marketplace. The announcement was made by the company's founder and CEO, Ray Youssef, who cited key staff departures and regulatory challenges for the industry as the reasons behind the decision. In a statement, Youssef said, "While we work through these issues, we have taken the most secure option and ask you to explore self-custody and trade elsewhere."

According to Youssef, all customer funds are accounted for, and the Paxful Wallet will be up for customers to retrieve their funds. To facilitate the process, Paxful is recommending options such as Exodus Wallet and Muun Wallet for customers to self-custody their funds. The company is also offering an easy migration to other options for non-U.S. users, including Noones, a new P2P company dedicated to the Global South, and Bitnob, which makes it easy for Africans to connect with Bitcoin.

Youssef personally vouches for Noones, which offers lower trading fees, a cheaper wallet, a more generous affiliate program than Paxful's program, a more efficient KYC process, local dispute moderators, and a friendlier TOS policy with no accounts being locked.

The news of Paxful's suspension comes amid growing regulatory scrutiny of the cryptocurrency industry, particularly in the U.S. Paxful's move highlights the challenges facing the industry and the importance of self-custody for investors. It also underscores the need for more secure and reliable P2P cryptocurrency exchanges that can withstand regulatory pressures and ensure the safety of customers' funds.

College Professor Offers to Take Care of Doctoral Students Kid After She Couldnt Find a Babysitter "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

College Professor Offers to Take Care of Doctoral Students Kid After She Couldnt Find a Babysitter

The availability and access to childcare can make or break a situation. From having a night out to tending to an emergency, having someone to look after a kid is indispensable. When Traniece Brown-Warrens, a doctoral candidate at Baylor University, couldn't find someone to take care of her foster baby while she went to class, she found an unlikely babysitter in her classmates, and even her professor.

Brown-Warrens works as principal at Markham Elementary School in Portland, Oregon, but once a month, she attends weekend classes at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. When you have a dream, you figure out how to make it work, Brown-Warrens told Today.

Since becoming a foster mom to a 7-month-old child she has nicknamed Baby Bear in mid-February, she has been able to keep up with her work schedule by placing the baby in childcare during the work week. However, she wasn't able to find someone to take care of the infant for the weekend of March 18. Running out of options, she sent an email to her professors, proposing to either attend classes virtually, or taker her baby with her to class. They said, Feel free to bring him,' Brown-Warrens recalled.

The foster mom then flew out to Texas with Baby Bear, who not only melted the hearts of everyone in the room, but behaved very well during the lectures. He was very inquisitive and didnt cry, Brown-Warrens said. He wanted to be in my arms while I took notes and engaged. I multitasked, like most parents do. Later, at a class titled School Business Management and Finance, other students offered to take turns holding the baby. Then, the lecturer himself asked to be part of the fun. Don't forget about me. May I hold him? professor Bobby Ott told Brown-Warrens, and carried the baby for about 30 minutes.

The intent look on Baby Bears face lets you know you enjoyed Dr. Otts lesson on taxes and account codes. Thank you for holding him so I could take notes & work with my partner, she then wrote in a tweet featuring the pictures of the baby in the lecturer's arms.

Ott then shared...

In retrospect, it might have been better to dwell on the how of Jesus reaching his potential (i.e., death) and not so much the when. But I didnt, and it wouldnt have made a difference: almost precisely a month after reaching this momentous age, I was throwing up a yellow substance I didnt like the look of into every available receptacle. 3D Maps Visualize the Stark Population Density Differences in Cities in the U.S. "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

3D Maps Visualize the Stark Population Density Differences in Cities in the U.S.

Population Density Maps by Spencer Schien

We can read about the population of a state, but it can be hard to visualize what its density looks like. Data technologist Spencer Schien is demystifying a selection of U.S. states with his fascinating population density maps. In each of his three-dimensional visualizations, he uses publicly available data and R programming language to chart the areas where people live.

What this looks like, in practice, are bold maps that have the more densely populated areas represented by bars resembling skyscrapers. The more people there are, the higher these sites get, making them reminiscent of a topographical map. For some states, the difference between rural population areas and urban centers looks extreme, such as in the case of Chicago, Illinois. The lower population sectors are light blue while there are so many people in the Windy City that the bars transition from an orange to a bright yellow.

Schien was inspired to make these maps as part of the #30DayMapChallenge in November 2021. The theme for day 21 was the Kontur Population Dataset, he explains to My Modern Met. The specific style was inspired by maps created with Aerialod (3D rendering software), and I was also driven to create comparable maps with my open-source software of choice, the R program language.

His aesthetic was further inspired by the internet at large. I also have long drawn inspiration from the Twitter user @researchremora, Schien explains, who started making beautiful shaded relief elevations maps a while ago (they're an anonymous account).

As of now, Schien has created several state maps, city maps, and comparative maps, as well as some maps of regional areas like neighboring towns alo...

Vivid Photographs by Cari Letelier Follow the Aurora Borealis Across Icelands Night Sky "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A photograph of aurora borealis taken at the Arctic Henge in Iceland.

All images Cari Letelier, shred with permission

During the last couple days in February, a series of impressive solar storms sent the aurora borealis as far as California and Western Australia. The lights were particularly brilliant in northern places like Scotland and Iceland where the long winter nights provide ample darkness as a backdrop to the waving illuminations. Chile-based photographer Cari Letelier took advantage of Icelands position just a few degrees south of the Arctic Circle to capture vibrant images of the auroras as they traversed the skies above waterfalls, icy expanses, and the Arctic Henge.

The northern lights result from enormous solar events in which the sun emits energized particles that slam into Earths upper atmosphere at speeds of up to 45 million miles per hour. Consciousness is Key to your Liberation "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

From finalwakeupcall.info:

Simplicity is the hallmark of the true soul

The trail that leads you to the 5D world Your consciousness is the password to enter the world of the 5th Dimension. You possess this key the moment your consciousness tells you; do! or, fail! At that moment, you will be alone! No one will judge you or reward you. But you will feel it when you have really succeeded. It is the end of an era! And the beginning of a new era.   Beware! There are all over the internet Fake Truth sellers supported by channels of the so-called popular media used as mouthpieces who themselves believe they are receiving information from the Light and are privileged to pass it on.   When in reality they are operatively manipulated by the cabal. They often tell people that they have an exclusive Informant at their disposal, and that they have been chosen to be their voice in our society. They pass on information that is partly true, but in fact aims to sow doubt, lies and deception.   The Third Dimension is the world of lies, deception. competition, destructive criticism, selfishness, theft, fraud, fame and greed. Control and power is the goal. Backstabbing, malice and cultivating low frequency for conviction and control. These are actions that put firm locks on the Portal to the Fifth Dimension.   Whereas always in the Fifth Dimension cooperation, help and dedication are focused on good, pure intentions, with empathy and care for others. That is the track that leads you to the 5D world.   Nothing and no one has the power to influence the individual choice. For every individual, the freedom of free will and choice still exists. Bitcoin And The Banking Crisis: Can Decentralization Counter The Traditional Economys Failures? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

As financial institutions too big to fail mindset erodes, can Bitcoins pioneering decentralization save our wealth?

This is an opinion editorial by Nikolay Denisenko, co-founder and CTO of Brighty, a Swiss crypto and fiat banking app

For years, the global centralized banking and finance industry has maintained a too big to fail sentiment. Big-name banks and financial institutions still share a confounded ideology that they are too large and interconnected to national economies to fail and, should a financial failure happen, they would be bailed out by governments and regulators.

The recent U.S. banking crisis is no different. Once again, a large corporate bank failed to balance its deposits and investments, leading the government to step in and inject enough cash flow to allow all consumers to retain their deposits.

Economic crises and recessions lead to government bailouts often through the taxpayers money. To me, this is a clear indication that the legacy, centralized financial system is failing, as an elite handful of bankers gatekeeps the global economy, overreacting and mismatching their financial operations without taking any actual liabilities.

So, whats the solution? As weve seen repeatedly, the only winner to come out of a banking crisis so far is decentralized finance: or, more specifically, Bitcoin.

BTC: Shining As Traditional Finance Fails

We often think of bitcoin only as an investment tool, like stocks and shares. But Bitcoin is the essence of decentralized finance: a limited, supply-capped currency built on a transparent peer-to-peer network that is beyond the control of any centralized entity or individual.

In fact, the leading cryptocurrency was created for incidents like a banking crisis. The development of Bitcoin came against the backdrop of the Great Financial Crisis of 2008 when the cost of U.S. banking bailouts has been estimated to reach $498 billion. At the time, there was a clear sentiment among hardworking people that both the government and centralized financial systems were working against them. This sentiment was the driver for Bitcions innovation: the very first block of the network even had a code inscription including...

These Whimsical Candles Reveal an Unexpected Surprise As They Melt

Unique Cat Candle by 54Celcius

54Celcius | $39

You may think you've seen it all when it comes to candles, but the creative brand 54Celcius will surprise you. Their PyroPet candles look like geometric animals on the outside, but as the wax melts, an unexpected secret is revealed. My Modern Met Store has recently added two of the brand's most stunning creations to its collection, and once you see how they work, you will be smitten, too.

The Kisa Cat Candle, for instance, captures the fiery spirit of the housecat. Available in three colorsblack, white, and pinkPyroPet Kisa begins as a stylized cat-shaped candle. But as it burns, it reveals something a bit more unusual. Underneath the unscented wax is a metallic skeleton of the kitty, which gives you a reason to light the candle time and time again until you fully excavate it the skeleton within.

PyroPet Einar works the same way. Based on the Icelandic myth of a unicorn called Einar, who was said to have a heart of gold, this candle contains a gold-colored metal skeleton, complete with an elegant horn. Although it starts out as a stylized animal in lilac or white-colored wax, each time you light the wick, more and more of the secret will be uncovered.

There are a few things to note about PyroPet candles, as they differ from traditional kinds. During the burning process, the candle releases large amounts of wax, so it is recommended to place the candle on a plate or other container to prevent wax overflow. In addition, the metal skeleton should not be touched while the candle is burning as it becomes very hot and can cause injury. However, once the wax has fully melted off, the wick is gone, and the metal has cooled, the remaining skeleton can m...

Duct Tape and Dreams: The Wild History of SFMOMAs Famous Soapbox Derby "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Art can have many purposesto be beautiful, to teach, to make us feelbut sometimes, art is just for fun. Such is the case for SFMOMAs Soapbox Derby, a raucously creative race that sent dozens of artist-designed cars barreling through the streets of San Francisco in 1975, 1978, and again last April.

The idea originated with Bay Area sculptor Fletcher Benton (1931-2019) back in the 70s when he proposed that the museum commission a competition to make art fun and accessible to the public and to provide local artists with funding. SFMOMA agreed to the project, and more than 90 artists were tasked with designing racers and trophies. Rules stipulated that the cars must coast, that they must not exceed the dimensions of six feet in width and seventeen feet in length, (and) that the vehicle contains an adequate steering and braking system. Plus, the works should be cost-effective, and the museum offered $100 per car and $35 for trophies.

Thousands of viewers lined the 800-foot winding slope of McLaren Parks Shelley Drive to watch artists like Ruth Asawa, Carlos Vila, and the collective known as Ant Farm compete. Racers were varied in subject matter and material and included vehicles shaped like bananas, sneakers, enormous hands, and a yellow No. 2 pencil, the latter of which was built by Richard Shaw, the winner in the Fastest Looking category of the legendary 1975 competition and the only alum in the 2022 revival.

Is She Selfish To Not Want To Cut Her Honeymoon Short Due To An Emergency At Home? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

People spend their whole lives looking forward to their weddings and then, when they realize how stressful it is planning a wedding, they start to look forward to the honeymoon afterward so they can relax

This couple had a big one planned that would last several months across more than a couple of countries.

My husband (m32) and I (f24) just got married a three weeks ago and we are currently celebrating our honeymoon. The plan was to travel for two months for different countries of Europe, Asia and Africa.

We currently are in Spain and we are supposed to take a plane to Morocco in two days. However my husband wants to cut the trip short and go back to our home now.

Then, her new husband got a phone call that his sister-in-law and niece had been in an accident. He wanted to go home to help support his brother.

The thing is his brother is in a horrible situation, his wife and daughter had a car crash and theyre on the hospital. The kid is fine but his wife has to be a little longer in the hospital, thats all I know.

Which sounds nice, until OP tells you that one of the reasons she didnt want to go is that his niece had already been released from the hospital, he refused to tell her the condition of the SIL, and that her in-laws are caring for the kids to help already.

I told my husband that I understand he wants to support his brother but that hes not a doctor so he cant do anything to help really. And his brothers wife is fine, she probably only has a broken leg or something and thats why she needs some more days in the hospital.

I told him to just call his brother and ask to talk with his wife so he can send her his best wishes and thats all that he can do honestly. His parents and his in laws are help...

Its easy to see why kumihimo, the ancient Japanese art of silk braiding, is described as a meditative act.

The weaver achieves an intricate design by getting into a rhythmic groove, overlapping hand-dyed silken threads on a circular or rectangle wooden loom, from which up to 50 weighted-wooden bobbins dangle.

If the mind wanders too far from the task, the weaver risks screwing up the pattern or the uniformity of the threads tension. The word kumihimo translates to gathering threads one mustnt let them get snarled by a lack of attention.

How Michelangelos David Still Draws Admiration and Controversy Today "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Life imitates art, and by art, I mean, of course, The Simpsons. More than thirty years ago, the show took on the issue of censorship with a story in which Marge Simpson launches an impassioned campaign against cartoon violence, only to find herself on the other side of the fence when asked to support a protest against the exhibition of Michelangelos David. This episode returned to cultural relevance just last month, when a parents complaint about an image of that most renowned nude sculptures indeed, that most renowned sculpture of any kind being shown in a sixth-grade art-history class led to the firing of a Florida school principal.

It seems that the problem wasnt just David: that same lesson included Botticellis painting The Birth of Venus, another glorification of the unclothed human body and so much more besides, according to the Great Art Explained video about it previously featured here on Open Culture.

Man Asks If Hes A Jerk For Not Helping His Wife With the Kids Because He Has To Work From Home? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

The world changed a few years ago, and ever since then, more and more companies are taking advantage of letting their employees work from home. There are many benefits for workers and employees alike, but as anyone who has done it can tell you, there are drawbacks as well.

For OP, his is in the form of his parenting duties, which his wife cant seem to handle on her own while he is on the clock.

He and his wife have two children, one a toddler and the other a baby. He works a regular schedule during the day and his wife is home on maternity leave.

Their toddler goes to daycare for at least some of the time during the week, and OP does more than his fair share of night wakings/feedings with the baby, and takes time out of his day other times he really probably shouldnt.

So my wife and I have two kids. One who is a bit over 2 years old and another that is 5 months old. I work Monday to Friday 9-5 from home, occasionally go in to the office. My wife is on maternity leave and taking care of the 5 month old. I take care of the baby for over night wakings and feedings.

The 2 year old is in daycare. Whether I send my kid to daycare 1 day or 5 days a week for 1 hour or 8 it costs the same. My wife likes to pick up our toddler from daycare around 3:15 everyday instead of letting me go when I finish work because she doesnt want our kid to be there so much during the day. The problem is I am left watching the baby for the 45 minutes while she is gone and then for the hour that she is taking care of both of them she gets overwhelmed, stressed, very annoyed at me and our kids, its just not great overall.

Every day my wife tells me that she is exhausted, she has no time to herself she doesnt get things done that she needs to, shes overwhelmed, just wants to relax when the baby naps etc...

The Dollar Is In Trouble! Here Are 7 Signs That Global De-Dollarization Has Just Shifted Into Overdrive "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

By Michael Snyder, For decades, the U.S. dollar was the undisputed king of global currencies, but now dramatic changes are happening.  China, Russia, India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and other nations are making really big moves which will enable them to become much less dependent on the U.S. dollar in the years ahead.  This is really bad news for us, because having the primary reserve currency of the world has enabled us to enjoy a massively inflated standard of living.  Once we lose that status, our lifestyles will be much different than they are today.  Unfortunately, most Americans dont understand any of this.  Even though our leaders have treated the stability of our currency with utter contempt in recent years, most Americans just assume that the dollar will always reign supreme.  Meanwhile, much of the planet is preparing for a future in which the U.S. dollar will be far less important than it is right now.  The following are 7 signs that global de-dollarization has just shifted into overdrive #1 The BRICS nations account for over 40 percent of the total global population and close to one-fourth of global GDP.  So the fact that they are working to develop a new currency should greatly concern all of us
The Deputy Chairman of Russias State Duma, Alexander Babakov, said on 30 March that the BRICS bloc of emerging economies Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa is working on developing a new currency that will be presented at the organizations upcoming summit in Durban. The transition to settlements in national currencies is the first step. The next one is to provide the circulation of digital or any other form of a fundamentally new currency in the nearest future. I think that at the BRICS [leaders...

Farmers will be ordered to feed cows methane suppressants to stop them belching and breaking wind under government plans to reach net zero "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

By Madeleine Ross, The insanity continues... Dairy cows are set to be given 'methane suppressants' by farmers to reduce their carbon footprint - by making them burp less. Ministers are looking to force farmers to give herds additives to reduce gas from digestion in 'compound feeds', which contain seaweed and essential oils. The Government's Net Zero Growth Plan, released this week, looked to address concerns from the High Court that existing plans to reach the climate goal before 2050 were not detailed enough. The plan said the bovine supplements could be introduced 'at pace' from 2025 - or as 'soon as practically possible' - in efforts to reduce emissions by 20 per cent by 2030, as Britain's commitment to the Global Methane Pledge requires. Cows are a big contributor to climate change, with farm animals producing around 14 per cent of carbon emissions from human activity worldwide. The plans are expected to add around 33p a year to the cost of milk for the average consumer but ministers could also choose to subsidise the superfood feed. Dustin Benton, former government adviser on food strategy, told The Telegraph the suppressants could eventually be given to sheep as well as cows. 'Most dairy cows are milked twice a day, and when they're going to be milked they usually eat, so that's a pretty good way of getting it into them.' Mr Benton added that the suppressants were a good start but that further action would be needed to reduce the impact of livestock. A government source said that 'significant' progress had been made thanks to innovation in agricultural products and that there were 'major benefits' to the plans for farmers and the climate. The suppressants contain a number of additives, including seaweed, organic acids, probiotics and antimicrobials and essential oils, that reduce the amount of gas produced during digestion. It's an urban myth that cows produce most of the methane by farting and it's actually belching that is the real culprit. Livestock made up the majority of agriculture and other land-use emi...

Atheist Republic News Summary: Saudi Judges Face Death Penalty for Being... "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

  • Saudi Judges Face Death Penalty for Being 'Too Soft' on Feminist Activists

https://www.atheistrepublic.com/news/saudi-judges-face-death-penalty-being-too-soft-feminist-activists

Location: Saudi Arabia

The human rights situation in Saudi Arabia is once again under the spotlight as the Democracy for Arab World Now (DAWN) organization warns that Saudi authorities could sentence ten renowned Saudi judges and justices to death on charges of "high treason." This is due to accusations that they were "too lenient" on women's rights activists. Even the judge who notoriously convicted prominent women's rights defender Loujain Al-Hathloul to 20 years imprisonment on baseless "terrorism" charges has been caught up in this crackdown. Shockingly, these judges were denied legal counsel and held incommunicado since they were arrested and detained in 2022. The six arrested judges were replaced by Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman's loyalists, who in turn immediately increased the sentences of several cases involving political activists and Twitter commentators. The Crown Prince's purges have become emblematic of the state of the judiciary, making it subservient solely to his wishes. These judges' prosecution is yet another alarming reminder that no one is safe in Saudi Arabia. Even judges who have abused their power in the past are now being punished for not being brutal enough.

Why Did the Old Masters Add Egg Yolk to Paint? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Art historians have known for some time that Old Masters such as Leonardo da Vinci and Sandro Botticelli mixed egg yolks into their oil paints. Now, scientists may have discovered the reason why. An article published last Tuesday in the journal Nature Communications suggests that these Renaissance painters may have known about egg yolks ability to protect their works against damage.

Scientists incorporated egg yolk into oil paint for their experiment using two methods: first, by directly mixing yolk and oil paint with a palette knife, creating a thick and stiff consistency; then, by grinding pigment with drops of diluted yolk and then mixing in oil, a technique Renaissance painters may have employed. For both samples, the presence of egg yolk slowed yellowing of the paint.

Bitcoin Entrepreneurs Introduce Noones, A Super App Aimed At Empowering Financial Freedom In The Global South "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Noones plans to utilize messaging, a familiar platform for peer-to-peer trades for the Global South, to empower users with Bitcoin.

A team of Bitcoin entrepreneurs have announced the launch of Noones, a new financial communications application aimed at empowering financial freedom in the Global South. The app will combine a messenger for peer-to-peer trades with a Bitcoin wallet operating at cost, and a peer-to-peer marketplace. The app is now available in private beta and is set to have instant swaps and Lightning support in the coming weeks.

The founding team of Noones is made up of Nicholas Gregory, CEO of CommerceBlock, Yusuf Nessary, co-founder of the Built With Bitcoin Foundation, and Bernard Parah, CEO and co-founder of Bitnob, who believe that peer-to-peer is the world's only true free market. The app will be centered around the messenger, where the majority of peer-to-peer trades take place industry-wide, according to the press release. The peer-to-peer marketplace will allow users to buy, sell, and trade Bitcoin, Tether (USDT), and USD Coin (USDC).

The app is pro-human, pro-trade, and pro-Bitcoin, with a mission to unleash the true power of the Global South and end economic apartheid using Bitcoin, the press release states. Our goal is to solve financial discrimination, Yusuf Nessary, a founding team member and Head of Research and Business Development, said Billions of people in the Global South face international monetary controls that exclude them from the global stage. Bitcoin offers an inclusive solution that can strengthen economies and give people a fighting chance.

Noones messenger will have an ensured trade option with an escrow and a local moderator to settle disputes, providing an added security benefit compared to pure communication platforms. The app aims to monetize chat in a value-added way.

The app is inspired by the Bitcoin adoption already being done in the Global South, and the founding team hopes that Noones will help unite the region with communications, payments and a store of value. "Its game over on monetary control," said Nessary. "Its time to push forward a new financial standard one where people can easily access the worlds financial system and money flows freely around the world through peer-to-peer trade.

Noones announcement comes at a tim...

Josephine Halvorson Paints to Remember "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

When Josephine Halvorson finds her subject, she stops just long enough to paint it. It could be numbers on the siding of a railroad car, a sign tacked to a tree trunk, the dark patch where a sign once was, or a window sill. Her work can be divided into two periods. Between 2007 and 2018, she painted in oil on canvas, often using a dark, tonal palette, and she was seemingly never more than an arms length away from her subject. While she has stayed close to her subjects, her palette and brushwork changed after she began painting in acrylic gouache on absorbent grounds. Addressing the change on her website, Halvorson posted this statement:

Inspired by fresco paintings ability to hold color and mark, Ive wanted to make a sensitive surface that preserves my observations in real time. Painting in longhand, I work in a verit style, documenting the subtle shifts in shadow and thought. I want to make a painting that remembers better than I can.

Halvorsons desire to have her paintings be synonymous with real time means that she cannot go back into a work the way she could with oil paint. Every mark she makes is in...

Its Official: We Are Going Back To The Moon! The Crew Of Artemis II Will Be The First Deep Space Travelers In Over 50 Years "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The next stage in NASAs audacious journey to bring back people to the surface of the Moon is called Artemis II, and the space agency has just revealed the names of the four scientists who will serve on its team.

NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and record-breaking Christina Koch, along with Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen, have been named as the four new candidates selected today.

However, it will be the first crewed journey to go to the Moon in over half a century, and it will include the first woman and the first individual of color to go to the Moon. The mission will not land on the Moon, but Koch and Glover will also make history by becoming the first women and people of color, respectively, to journey to deep space.

Together we will usher in new era of exploration for a new generation of star sailors and dreamersthe Artemis generation, NASA Administrator Senator Bill Nelson said during the press conference.

After the successful test flight of Artemis I at the end of 2022, which included a circumnavigation of the Moon, work began on Artemis II. It is anticipated that the expedition will get underway some time in November 2024 and will last for a maximum of 21 days.

In addition, this will be the first flight with astronauts from launch Complex 39B at the Kennedy Space Center since the Space Shuttle Discovery in 2006.

Since Apollo 17 in 1972, no human spacecraft has traveled further than Artemis II will in the future. They plan to get as close to the far side of the Moon as 6,000 kilometers (10,000 kilometers) away from it.

Fundraiser For Open-Source Bitcoin Development Seeks To Immortalize Classic Bitcoin Writing On Vinyl "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Everyones A Scammer in vinyl form seeks to help support Bitcoin and Lightning open-source development.

In a partnership with Voltage, podcaster Guy Swann and longtime Bitcoiner Michael Goldstein have launched a crowdfunding page to raise money for open-source Bitcoin and Lightning development by selling a vinyl of the historic Bitcoin article Everyones A Scammer.

The 2014 piece covers the incentives of merchants, investment peddlers, hoarders, and bitcoiners alike, as the crowdfunding page describes. Everyone Is A Scammer discusses how everyone is driven by their own incentives. There is a war going on for your bitcoins, and willpower is your only defense. There are endless hacks, scams and thefts around Bitcoin. Brute force can not take your bitcoin, but through market forces, everyone is trying to take your bitcoins. Now more than ever this is ringing true.

Mockups provided to Bitcoin Magazine depict the header image of the original article, a still of Clint Eastwood in the legendary 1966 Western movie, The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, as the focus point of the simplistic cover. Inside the cover, a black vinyl with wax ridges capable of emitting Bitcoin signal, the likes of which only Bitstein can provide, lay waiting.

The Satoshi Nakamoto Institute is eager to share with the world the best ideas past, present, and future in cryptography, distributed networks, economic freedom, and freedom of information, the crowdfunding page describes. Their mission is to curate the best primary source literature that challenges the status quo through technological innovation.

Innovative Desk With Attached Playpen Designed for Working Parents

TMC Furniture - Family Workstation

Parents know how difficult it can be to get work done while keeping an eye on a little one. Wrangling a toddler or infant and shooting off a few emails is already difficult at home, but its next to impossible in a public space. In fact, the staff at Fairfield Area Library in Herico County, Virginia, often saw parents of young children struggling to use the computer stations in their adult reading room. Feeling that creating an inclusive environment for the entire family was important, the library's director Barbara Weedman reached out to TMC Furniture to solve the problem.

Finding a way to allow parents of infants and toddlers to work peacefully without having to pay for childcare is an issue particularly close to Weedman's heart. As a single parent of a now-grown son, she has firsthand experience of what it's like to parent in a public space that isn't designed for families.

So Michigan-based design firm TMC Furniture stepped in, working with an architect and interior designer to create a desk with an attached play area for children. The enclosed space is filled with didactic panels that help keep children engaged so parents can focus on their work while knowing their child is within arm's reach.

The Fairfield Parent + Child Carrels have been in use since the new library opened in 2019 and are greatly appreciated by the community. On opening day, a mother with an infant and a small child sat down at a Work and Play Station to use the computer and placed her children in the carrelwithout having received any direction from staff, Weedman shared. It was gratifying to see that the design was immediately intuitive.

Climate Activists Dye Famous Roman Fountain Water Black "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

April 1 was no joke to Ultima Generazione (UG), a group of Italian climate activists who staged a joint demonstration in both Rome and Ancona that morning. Members of the group used a charcoal-based powder to dye the water of the Barcaccia Fountain in front of the Spanish Steps in central Rome a deep black color and covered the historic 13-spout Calamo Fountain in Ancona with a long banner emblazoned with the organizations We Dont Pay for Fossil[s] slogan.

Both demonstrations occurred within an hour of each other late Saturday morning, with UG citing the Italian right-wing governments allegiance to fossil fuel projects through 2028 amidst the politics of water access along with increased flooding and drought incidents in recent years. In a press statement, UG said that staging the demonstrations at fountains was symbolic of the refreshment offered by the water and, on the other, of the danger it can represent.

The organization also cited Italys outdated water distribution infrastructure that was responsible for...

New Weaponizable Genetic Testing by the Communist Chinese "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Image result for inside a Chinese bio-weapns lab

If we didnt have enough on our plates already in a world of political tension and pending conflict now another threat has reared its ugly head.  Through new applications of gene research, the Chinese have devoted more than 100 billion to a new bio-threat. This form of assault will involve naked DNA already tested on lab mice. Without using a virus as a host for delivery that has a surface protein that elicits an immunological response by the body, a naked DNA is accepted by the body and bypasses the bodys immunity and is nullified. This could be great news for those suffering from a number of diseases needing a genetic fix such as cancer, but it opens the door for other more horrific military uses.

Image result for inside a Chinese bio-weapns lab

Beginning of the end

The Chinese are busy perfecting a type of pathogen specific to race or nationality. The phenomena was first noticed in the early 1960s when the Hong Kong flu made the headlines while local Chinese suffered mild symptoms, for some unknown reason westerners such as Caucasians experienced severe reactions to the Honk Kong flu. Based upon that premise, the Chinese are analyzing strains of DNA identified from all the fools who submitted family histories to genealogical companies so that they could trace their ancestry back in time and from where they came from on the planet. The Chinese thanks to Tik Tok, health insurance data bases, medical field records, and just plain hacking, now have the largest collection of DNA information on America than any other source even our own data bases.

Image result for lab mice

Destruction of an entire society!

With these ancestry records the Chinese want to be able to use genetic attacks to create degenerative diseases and even worse, Ebola type aggressive strains that would knock out a large portion of the population and weaken the USA. They are attempting a civilization destroying pathogen! Note, that China had drafted strict laws prohibiting any type of this research leaving China or the disclosure of Chinese ancestry genetic data to the rest of the world. The Naked Gene attack could annihilate or severely weaken an entire society leaving them vulnerable to complete domination and making China the only dog left on the top of the heap! The only nation not ravaged by the killer bioweapon they hope to perfect. The Chinese military is already salivating over the...

A well-deserved vacation shouldn't end in murder.

After solving two crimes in Willow Cove, Georgia, I definitely need a break.  And what better place to get away than a cozy little place in Ireland?  Well, cozy in the fact that I'm sharing a room with my mother and boyfriend.  And there's an entire wedding party staying at the inn with us.

Guess the luck of the Irish wasn't with us since we found a bridesmaid dead in her room.  Gavin thinks this is the perfect opportunity to investigate and spread the word about our little business.  But it isn't just the inn's resident cat who has been watching us.  And I have a bad feeling that the luck of the Irish isn't on our side in this case.

Delicate silk threads laced around tiny wooden armatures compose intricate scenes in gnes Herczegs sculptures. Using branches from fruit trees like wild cherry or pear or foraged driftwood from the banks of the Danube River near where she lives, the Hungary-based artist (previously) meticulously carves the gentle curves of figures, animals, and domestic objects to tell stories about home, traditions, and daily life.

Throughout the past year, Herczeg has focused on woodcarving, enjoying the process as she learns along the way. Tokitae the Orca Will Finally Be Freed After More Than 50 Years in Captivity

Lolita AKA Tokitae the whale during a show at the miami seaquarium in 2013

After over 50 years in captivity, Tokitae the orca is finally going home to the sea. The killer whale, who was formerly known as Lolita, will be relocated thanks to the work of animals rights advocates, Indigenous leaders, and non-profit organizations who wish to see this creature live in peace for the rest of her days.

Tokitae lives at the Miami Seaquarium in what is considered the smallest whale enclosure in North America. Since she is thought to be about 57 years old, the orca is also widely believed to be the oldest living orca in captivity. Tokitae's life away from home began in 1970, when she was taken from Penn Cove, off the coast of Washington State. It is believed that she was about four years old when that happened. According to The Guardian, Tokitae's relatives are still alive, including the 90-year-old orca believed to be her mother.

The project to have Tokitae freed was announced at a joint press conference featuring members of the Miami Seaquarium; The Dolphin Company, the business that owns the park; Friends of Toki, a non-profit that has pushed for the whale's freedom and has welfare checks done on her every month; Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava; and philanthropist Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts, who has provided financial support to the relocation project. Today, March 30th, for the first time ever, a private company with marine mammals under human care, and a non-profit animal welfare organization, executed a binding agreement with one goalreturn the beloved Lolita to her home waters, the Seaquarium wrote.

Fortunately, Tokitae's health has improved and remained steady over the last few months after a round of infections she suffered due to the size of her enclosure, which is what eventually led her to be pulled from display in 2022.

Tokitae is a southern resident orca, a group...

A Style Of Substance: How Natalie Smolenski Will Grapple With Big Ideas At Bitcoin 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Refusing to shy away from nuanced analysis or existential problems, Natalie Smolenski will bring big picture thinking to Bitcoin 2023.

As a business executive, academic researcher and regulatory policy advocate, Natalie Smolenski is uniquely qualified to advance Bitcoin adoption among institutions, academia and policymakers. She is a gifted public speaker, mastering the difficult recipe of championing Bitcoin holistically, conveying deep knowledge across the numerous disciplines that this technology touches through easily-digestible explanations.

She has channeled that expertise into nuanced, well-reasoned perspectives on some of the most critical issues faced by Bitcoin today, from the advent of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) to the void left by devaluation of the U.S. dollar. Next, at Bitcoin 2023, shes poised to do so on one of the worlds biggest stages, taking on Bitcoin, Energy Systems And The State in a panel discussion alongside investment strategist and renowned author Lyn Alden.

With Lyn, I will be discussing the effects that the coexistence of bitcoin with inflationary fiat currencies will have on global credit, banking business models and the role of the state in monetary policy, Smolenski explained in an interview with Bitcoin Magazine. We will also touch on the relationship between computation, which secures the Bitcoin network, energy and civilizational growth. Id like to end on a few policy notes about what the United States can do to ensure an abundant energy future that includes cultivating a population that has the capacity to harness abundant energy to build new, more resilient institutions.

Smolenski may be near galactic in her perspective on what Bitcoin impacts, but shes also all too practical about the urgency of the moment. Her perspective on the ongoing banking crisis is one that necessitates not just deep thought, but revolutionary action.

The links between pollution and miscarriage: 'This is the stuff nightmares are made of' "IndyWatch Feed Fertility"

The world we live in is slowly poisoning every single one of us. And the chemicals doing the most damage are byproducts of the fossil fuel industry, agribusiness and manufacturing. There doesn't seem to be the appetite at a regulatory or governmental level to stop it. In Australia, 50,000 agricultural, industrial and veterinary chemicals are being used; 1,500 are suspected to interfere with endocrine function, which is essential to the healthy working of our reproductive and hormonal systems. Only a very small number have been tested. Microplastics, which can cause inflammation in the body, is being found in our blood streams and also in the placentas of unborn fetuses. Walking down a major intersection during rush hour can expose you to as much particulate matter as a major bushfire event. Even if chemicals are tested, the testing regimen means that chemicals are only being tested in isolation and not in conjunction with others to see how compounds react. Also, they might be tested for carcinogenic effects ... but the test subjects aren't monitored for other ill-effects, such as endocrine disruption. Some effects take place long after the research has concluded. Some of these chemicals can stay in the body forever. Or affect the way our DNA functions. Theres even an Australian website (not widely enough publicised) called yourfertility.org.au. It has an entire section on chemicals in our environment and what to avoid, stating that avoiding these chemicals may increase the chance of having a baby.

After 20 Years, the Department of Homeland Security Is a Money-Guzzling Failure "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

In March 2003, the newly christened Department of Homeland Security, or DHS, opened its doors. The department took everything from immigration enforcement and counterterrorism to airport security and disaster response under one gargantuan bureaucracy. Despite these wide-ranging missions, the department's unifying logic in the post 9/11 era has been to wage the so-called war on terror at home. The result has been systemic abuse of minority communities, a dangerous militarization of American life, and a massive waste of money that sapped resources from addressing the real threats to our homeland. DHS agencies have militarized U.S. streets, sending officers in tactical gear to respond to civilian protests and conducting surveillance of U.S. citizens engaged in constitutionally protected activities. There are stories of DHS drones surveilling Indigenous water and land protectors and DHS forces spying on Black Lives Matter protesters. DHS even monitored journalists who reported on the department's tactics. None of these abuses have come cheap. Since its founding in 2003, the U.S. has spent $1.4 trillion on the agency. That's more than seven times what the government spent over the same period on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including the CDC's COVID-19 pandemic responseand more than five times more than on the Environmental Protection Agency. The [DHS] was supposed to be about making the U.S. safer. But it has failed.

Note: A thorough investigation reveals details on the DHS "Disinformation Governance Board," an unsuccessful effort in 2022 to police online speech it considers inaccurate and dangerous. Now, the DHS board and its key subcommittees are undergoing sweeping changes as public concern grows over social media censorship and government overreach.

US courts must stop shielding government surveillance programs from accountability "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Under a post-9/11 surveillance program known as "Upstream", the NSA is systematically searching Americans' internet communications as they enter and leave the United States. The agency sifts through these streams of data looking for "identifiers" associated with its many thousands of foreign targets identifiers like email addresses and phone numbers. The NSA does all of this without warrants, without any individual judicial approval, and without showing that any of the people it is surveilling including countless Americans have done anything wrong. This surveillance raises serious constitutional concerns, but no court has ever considered a legal challenge to it because the government has claimed that allowing a suit against Upstream surveillance to go forward would implicate "state secrets". In 2007, for example, an appeals court dismissed a lawsuit filed by Khaled El-Masri claiming that, in a case of mistaken identity, he had been kidnapped and tortured by the CIA. The court acknowledged the public evidence of El-Masri's mistreatment but held that state secrets were too central to the case to allow it to go forward. And in 2010, a different appeals court dismissed a lawsuit filed by five individuals who claimed that one of Boeing's subsidiary companies had flown the planes carrying them to the black sites where they were tortured by the CIA. This use of the state secrets privilege to dismiss cases departs from the supreme court's narrow framing of the privilege.

Note: For more along these lines, see concise summaries of deeply revealing news articles on court system corruption and the disappearance of privacy from reliable major media sources.
