Once Shocking, U.S. Spying on Its Allies Draws a Global Shrug "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The last time a trove of leaked documents exposed U.S. spying operations around the world, the reaction from allied governments was swift and severe. In Berlin, thousands of people protested in the streets, the C.I.A. station chief was expelled, and the German chancellor told the American president that "spying on friends is not acceptable." In Paris, the American ambassador was summoned for a dressing-down. That was a decade ago, after an enormous leak of classified documents detailing American surveillance programs by ... Edward Snowden. The latest leak of classified documents that appeared online this year, the motive behind which remains unknown, has again illustrated the broad reach of U.S. spy agencies, including into the capitals of friendly countries such as Egypt, South Korea, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates. Though the documents mainly focus on the war in Ukraine, they include C.I.A. intelligence briefs describing conversations and plans at senior levels of government in those countries, in several cases attributed to "signals intelligence," or electronic eavesdropping. Unlike in 2013, however, U.S. allies appear to be mostly shrugging off the latest examples of apparent spying. So far, the only evident political fallout from the latest leaks has occurred in South Korea, where one classified U.S. document described a debate among senior national security officials about whether to send artillery shells abroad that might wind up in Ukraine, potentially angering Russia.

Revealed: the terrorist hired by the CIA to catch Carlos the Jackal "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The story of Bruno Brguet, one the most enigmatic figures of the shadowy battle between western security services and international violent extremists during the so-called "golden age of terrorism" in the 1970s and 1980s, has been given a new twist. A new book has revealed that in his later years Brguet served not only the infamous Illich Ramrez Snchez, better known as Carlos the Jackal, but the US government too. Brguet's spying for the CIA earned him tens of thousands of dollars, and contributed to the capture of his erstwhile boss by French secret services in 1994. The news that the CIA was prepared to hire as an agent a man like Brguet, who had been twice convicted by Israel and France for his terrorist activities and is believed to have bombed a pro-democracy radio station in Munich funded by the US government, underlines the moral and ethical questions facing intelligence services when it comes to recruiting such individuals. If anyone in the CIA balked at employing Brguet as an agent, there is no record of their concerns. For the next four years, Brguet appears to have supplied information to the CIA, possibly indirectly contributing key elements to the French intelligence operation that successfully grabbed Carlos from a clinic in Khartoum in 1994. Breguet's final mystery remains unresolved however. In 1995, the veteran extremist turned CIA agent disappeared definitively after boarding a ferry from a Greece to Italy. Was he murdered? Or did he commence a new life under a false identity?

Congress Suddenly Wants to Know If US Taxpayers Were Helping El Chapo "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

After flying under the radar for years, the case of Genaro Garca Luna is finally raising alarms in Congress, with one of the Senate's top Republicans demanding answers about how Mexico's highest-ranking cop was able to partner with DEA and FBI, "at the time that he funneled roughly 103,000 pounds of cocaine into the United States" for the Sinaloa Cartel. Garca Luna became the most senior Mexican law enforcement official ever convicted of narco-corruption when a Brooklyn federal jury delivered a unanimous guilty verdict on a five-count indictment that charged him with taking massive bribes to enable cartel drug smuggling, kidnappings, and murders while he was in office from 2001 to 2012. Garca Luna's position involved close collaboration with U.S. anti-narcotics agencies that operate in Mexico, and it gave him discretion over the spending of hundreds of millions in American tax dollars delivered as security aid. That money was supposed to go toward fighting the cartels, but his trial showed he was leaking sensitive intelligence, protecting drug shipments, and disrupting efforts to capture ... cartel leaders. On Feb. 22, a day after the guilty verdict, Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley sent a letter to the heads of the DEA and FBI asking what the agencies knew about Garca Luna and when, and demanding evidence ... that could shed new light on the relationship. In short, Grassley wants to know if American tax dollars were being sent to Mexico while the DEA and FBI were tolerating Garca Luna's corruption.

The Man Who Knew Exactly What the F.B.I. Was Doing to Martin Luther King Jr. "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

We have long known about the F.B.I. director J. Edgar Hoover's animus toward the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hoover built an extensive apparatus of surveillance and disruption designed to destroy King. It's time to ... recognize the power structure that supported the F.B.I.'s campaign. Many Americans starting with the president thought movement activists like King posed threats to the established order and needed to be watched and controlled. Members of the press could have exposed the bureau's campaign. And many government officials who could have stopped, curtailed or exposed the F.B.I.'s attack on King instead enabled or encouraged it. F.B.I. records declassified in the past several years and documents from the Johnson archives released in 2022 force us to reconsider the nature of Johnson's involvement in the F.B.I.'s campaign against King. White House documents ... suggest that Johnson, from the beginning of his presidency in 1963 to King's assassination in 1968, was apprised almost weekly by Hoover himself on the F.B.I.'s surveillance of King. Johnson did nothing to stop or rein in the F.B.I., even after at least one top administration official expressed concern. In addition to the president and the media, other officials at the F.B.I. ... worked to ruin King. Scores of ranking officials and agents at the F.B.I., dozens of elected officials and several informants embedded in King's inner circles knew what was going on, and none, as far as the public records indicate, blew a whistle on the campaign.

Note: Few people know about the 1999 King Family civil trial in Memphis, where it took a jury only one hour to find the U.S. government guilty for the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. For more along these lines, see concise summaries of deeply revealing news articles on government corruption and the erosion of civil liberties from reliable major media sources.

Ukraine War Is Shaking Up Global Arms Industry "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) estimates that six countriesthe U.S., Russia, France, China, Germany, and Italywere responsible for 80 percent of global weapons exports from 2018 to 2022. The U.S. alone counted for 40 percent, while Russia was a distant second at 16 percent. Maintaining and growing their market share is a prerogative for countries that export weapons. Turkey has sold many drones to Ukraine, while Iran has sold its own arsenal to Russia. Both Turkey and Iran are aiming to pitch their products as low-cost alternatives to Western manufacturers. Turkey, however, is still in talks to buy Russia's S-400 missile defense system. Its provision of weapons to Ukraine, while it continues to negotiate weapons deals with Russia, demonstrates the complicated nature of the global arms industry. The war in Ukraine continues to underline how integral the arms industry is to geopolitics. China, for example, has not provided weapons to either Ukraine or Russia, but its largest civilian drone maker, DJI, is one of the most important suppliers for their militaries. The U.S. has been criticized in recent years for its weapons exports to Saudi Arabia, which is under fire for human rights abuses and for its conflict in Yemen.  And though claims of Western weapons being smuggled out of Ukraine have often been dismissed, there is concern that many of the weapons sent to the Ukrainian military have or will end up on the black market.

Leaks Reveal Reality Behind U.S. Propaganda in Ukraine "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The U.S. corporate media's first response to the leaking of secret documents about the war in Ukraine was to throw some mud in the water, declare "nothing to see here," and cover it as a depoliticized crime story about a 21-year-old Air National Guardsman who published secret documents to impress his friends. What these documents reveal, however, is that the war is going worse for Ukraine than our political leaders have admitted to us, while going badly for Russia too, so that neither side is likely to break the stalemate this year, and this will lead to "a protracted war beyond 2023," as one of the documents says. We can't help wondering what President Biden's plan could be, or if he even has one. In what amounts to a second leak that the corporate media have studiously ignored, U.S. intelligence sources have told veteran investigative reporter Seymour Hersh that they are asking the same questions, and they describe a "total breakdown" between the White House and the U.S. intelligence community. According to Hersh's report, the CIA assesses that Ukrainian officials, including President Zelenskyy, have embezzled $400 million from money the United States sent Ukraine to buy diesel fuel for its war effort, in a scheme that involves buying cheap, discounted fuel from Russia. Meanwhile, Hersh says, Ukrainian government ministries literally compete with each other to sell weapons paid for by U.S. taxpayers to private arms dealers in Poland, the Czech Republic and around the world.

In Pentagon Leak, The Problem is What's Classified, Not What Gets Out "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A set of secret national security documents burst into public view last week. The intelligence documents appear to have entered the public domain in an unusual way someone began sharing them, starting late last year, on an obscure Discord server called Thug Shaker Central. The alleged leaker, Jack Teixeira, a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, was arrested. It is traditional for the government to exaggerate the alleged harms of classified information becoming public, and this appears to be happening again. The real problem isn't what's leaked, but what's classified. Almost every news story about the latest disclosures has noted that the Pentagon and other government agencies will now put tighter lids on secret documents, even though, as historian Matthew Connelly points out in his new book, "The Declassification Engine," the government already puts way too much material behind its moat. In fact, the human harm caused by unauthorized leaks is almost always inflicted by the government itself in the form of egregious prosecutions of leakers. Although Snowden, [Chelsea] Manning, and, more recently, Reality Winner, revealed secrets that the public had a right to know, the government charged all of them under the draconian Espionage Act. While Snowden sought safety in Russia, Manning served seven years in prison (she was originally sentenced to 35 years), and Winner was sentenced to more than five years for leaking just a single document.

Neoliberalism as the U.S. Empire Declines "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The neoliberal globalizing paradigm is now the old. Economic nationalism is the new. Neoliberal globalization ... celebrated the profits and growth brought to both private and state-owned/operated enterprises around the world. It downplayed or ignored the other sides of globalization: (1) growing income and wealth inequalities; (2) the shift of production from old to new centers of capitalism; and (3) faster growth of output and markets in new centers than old centers. Instead of a mostly private capitalist system (like that of the U.S. or UK) or a mostly state capitalist system (like that of the USSR), places like China and India produced hybrids. Strong national governments presided over coexisting large private and state sectors to maximize economic growth. The days of the U.S. dollar as the supreme global currency are numbered. U.S. supremacy in high-tech industries must already be shared with China's high-tech industries. The U.S. empire's decline raises the question of what comes next. The most interesting possibility and perhaps the likeliest is that China and the entire BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) grouping of nations will undertake the construction and maintenance of a new world economy. The war in Ukraine has already enhanced the prospects of such an outcome by strengthening the BRICS alliance. They have the population, resources, productive capacity, connections, and accumulated solidarity to be a new pole for world economic development.

CIA's War on WikiLeaks Is a Scandal Worthy of Congressional Investigation "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

In 2010, Chelsea Manning shocked the world with leaked documents that exposed abuses and crimes committed by the United States military in Iraq. These revelations also made the publisher of those documents, Julian Assange, and his organization, WikiLeaks, household names. The U.S. government [is] charging Assange a publisher with violating the Espionage Act. Under the Espionage Act, one does not have the ability to make a public interest defense. All prosecutors have to do is show that a whistleblower possessed documents or transferred "national defense information" to a member of the press. Damage has already been done, but the future of journalism is in further jeopardy if the U.S. government holds a trial against Assange, convicts him, and shows the world that it has the final say over who is and is not a journalist. CIA Director Mike Pompeo and other officials sketched plans to target Assange that included poisoning or kidnapping him. This, along with the disruption campaign against WikiLeaks, represented the CIA's all-out war against a dissident media organization. The agency went so far as to redefine the organization as a "non-state hostile intelligence service" to carry out operations that it could never get away with against a group of journalists. It should be the subject of an intense investigation in Congress, and the Justice Department should be dropping the charges after publicly conceding that the CIA's actions mean Assange could never have a fair trial.

Billionaire Space Flight Isn't About Colonization. It's Stoking a New Cold War. "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The U.S. has not engaged in a defensive war for nearly 80 years, instead destabilizing governments worldwide in Vietnam, the Korean Peninsula, Iraq, Afghanistan, throughout Africa and across Latin America. Although all weapons of mass destruction in space are technically prohibited by the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, it isn't without precedent for major military powers to withdraw from such treaties. In 2019, President Donald Trump diverged from President Barack Obama's promise he would "not weaponize space," and created an official Space Force. Countersurveillance and counter-communications have been central goals of U.S. military space operations since the 1990s, alongside attaining U.S. "full spectrum dominance" of all potential conflict sites including space. Space infrastructure ... increases the risk of global nuclear war by presenting new opportunities for armament and hostility. The government's ability to militarize this technology is strongly related to investment and development in the private sector through companies such as Boeing, SpaceX and Blue Origin. The commercial arm of the military-industrial complex is extending into space. Along with Blue Origin, SpaceX has collaborated with DOD in developing rapid global military cargo delivery systems, which the DOD hopes will make for global military logistics delivery of supplies, weapons and even human soldiers anywhere on earth in under 60 minutes.

Norway helped remake a US prison. Here's what happened. "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Correctional systems throughout much of Scandinavia are guided by a general set of philosophical principles. In Norway, core values of safety, transparency and innovation are considered fundamental to the idea of creating normality in prison, the feeling that life as part of a community continues. Incarcerated people can wear their own clothes, work in jobs that prepare them for employment and cook their own meals. Cells in Norway are also for a single person not multiple people, as in most cases in the U.S. Importantly, correctional officers have at least a two-year, university-level education and are directly involved in rehabilitation and planning for the incarcerated person's re-entry into the world outside of prison. In the U.S., most officers receive just a few weeks of training. Recidivism rates in Scandinavia are low. In Norway ... less than half of people released from prison are rearrested after three years. In Pennsylvania, that figure is closer to 70%. In State Correctional Institution Chester, known as SCI Chester, a medium-security prison located just outside of Philadelphia, a correctional officer-guided team has worked since 2018 to incorporate Scandinavian penal principles into its own institution. Six men in SCI Chester each sentenced to life in prison were selected to participate. They then moved on to the new housing unit, which had come to be known as "Little Scandinavia." SCI Chester shows that it is, in fact, possible to adapt Scandinavian-style penal philosophies.

Inside the Prisoner-led Struggle to Win Education for All "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Washington State prisoners were recently forced to gather in a janitor's closet to organize and facilitate college education for people incarcerated in several prisons across the state. New official restrictions are jeopardizing a liberating, prisoner-led program known as Taking Education And Creating History, or TEACH. TEACH's goal is to democratize education for people with long sentences. Between community support and financial backing outside the correctional system, TEACH successfully circumvented the Department of Corrections, or DOC, policy of excluding long-term prisoners from education. Since 2013, over 300 incarcerated individuals across three state prisons have become college students. Progressively, TEACH began breaking down barriers between various racial and cultural groups contradicting administrative beliefs that the Black Prisoners Caucus would further racial tension. Prisoners who would've never interacted with one another were now sitting at tables thumbing through books, while preparing for exams. When asked how TEACH has impacted the prison environment, Darrell Jackson, co-chair of the TEACH program at Washington Correction Center, said, "It has reduced the violence in prison, while creating a positive educational community for everyone regardless of one's crime, race or affiliation." He added, "Those with lengthy sentences were given a sense of purpose, something that many are stripped of when they enter into prison."

Recovery high schools help kids heal from an addiction and build a future "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Every weekday at 5280 High School in Denver starts the same way. Students in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction gather on the steps of the school's indoor auditorium to discuss a topic chosen by staff members. One recent morning, they talked about mental health and sobriety. The students attend Colorado's only recovery high school one of 43 nationwide. These schools are designed for students who are recovering from substance use disorder and might also be dealing with related mental health disorders. Compared with their peers at regular schools who have gone through treatment, recovery high school students have better attendance and are more likely to stay sober, and their graduation rate is at least 21% higher, according to one study. Recovery high schools often weave components of treatment into the school day activities like 5280's daily recovery program meeting. In the afternoon, the school offers wellness electives such as spiritual principles and journaling. The school also employs a director of recovery and recovery coach to work with and counsel the students individually. "The No. 1 step is just letting them know out of the gate, no matter what's going on, that we love them," said Brittany Kitchens, the school's recovery coach. "We are here for them." Kitchens teaches students how to navigate recovery and regulate their emotions. She likens herself to a hall monitor, constantly checking in with students and looking for changes in behavior.

I dont usually write to music. Im too susceptible; I find it can give what Im writing a false, unearned resonance, like slipping a poem into Garamond to make it better. But there are two songs that are rhythmic enough, each in their own way, that I sometimes put on a loop when Im revising. Theres something about the cadence and the breath in them that works for me, that creates a kind of chamber that keeps the outside world at bay. And though Ive heard writing about music is like dancing about architecture, (a quote so apt, its attributed to no less than a dozen people), here goes:

Spiegel im Spiegel, 1978Arvo Prt

The piecein English, Mirror in the Mirrorbegins with a simple ascending arpeggio, little triads that subtly alter, reflected back and forth like light on water, a mirror looking into a mirror. The melody stretches over and through the scales, extending like a long breath. The left hand on the piano arrives, eventually and sparingly, to ground the upward yearning, trees reaching toward light from the roots. The work is minimal in its composition, yet never fails to tug me out of my momentary preoccupations into a broader sense of time, drawing me into eternity through the little window of now. There are many beautiful to begin, I think. If you put it on and close your eyes, everything will soon feel softer.

Fleurette Africaine, 1962Duke Ellington

Mingus starts the song with a spiraling, skeletal stuttering on the upright bass, a sleeping animal rousing itself, a little tousled. Its all very organic, the rise and fall of a breathing body. Ellingtons piano wanders in, elegant, stately. Max Roachs drumming is the nes...

Renata Cherlises recently released book, Black Archives: A Photographic Celebration of Black Life, makes clear that Black families have potent stories to tell. Cherlise says in a new Colossal Interview:

Spending time with these scenes of everyday life made me feel connected to my ancestors and inspired me to think about photography as a form of individual and collective history. I became interested in images of the Black experience that I had never seen in mainstream media or textbookspictures that capture the intimacy, beauty, and nuance of our everyday lives.

There are first dates, barbeques, trips to Paris, holidays. There is togetherness, laughter, love. These photos testifythrough changing fashion, hairstyles, automobile models, photo types, and other markers of timethat Black families have always been part of history, and our stories, our celebrations, have always been an integral part of the historical record.

I spoke with Cherlise via e-mail about the origins of her love for family photos, her book project, and why she considers snapshots the most authentic storytelling medium in the written and visual language.

Shiba Inu coins value on Coingecko is currently at $0.00001027, experiencing a decrease of 3.4% over the last seven days and a more significant slump of 7.8% over the past two weeks.

The question on every investors mind now is: what move should they make next with the meme coin?

Key Levels To Watch For Shiba Inu

For traders and investors who want to get a clear grasp of SHIBs price trajectory, its important to remember that there are two key levels to consider: the support level and the resistance level. The support level is currently set at $0.0000095.

Alternately, the resistance level, which is now at $0.00001 at the time of writing, signifies the price at which sellers are expected to enter the market and sell their SHIB holdings, hence exerting downward pressure on the price of the meme coin.

The price of SHIB may signify a negative signal and cause traders to sell if it breaks through the support level. On the other hand, if the price rises over the $0.00001 resistance level, it can be a bullish indicator that buyers are flooding the market and pushing the price higher.

As such, keeping a close eye on these key levels can help traders make informed decisions when buying or selling SHIB.

SHIBs Growing Community, Shibarium Devt Could Make It A Good Buy

Shiba Inu could be an attractive buy this month because of several reasons. For one, its community is rapidly expanding with many supporters believing in the projects long-term potential.

Additionally, the Shiba Inu team has been diligently working on a decentralized ecosystem that includes a non-fungible token (NFT) platform, a decentralized exchange, to mention a few.

The Shiba Inu communitys enthusiasm for Shibarium has been apparent in recent posts on the Telegram group Shibarium Tech.

Bitcoin Holds At $29,300 As PCE Comes Out Neutral "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

<p>With todays release of the Personal Consumption Expenditure (PCE) price index by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Bitcoin market just experienced the most important macro event of the week. Ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) on May 2-3, all eyes were on the PCE today.</p> <p>The latter is known as the Feds favorite inflation gauge. (versus CPI). It measures prices paid by consumers for domestic purchases of goods and services and excludes food and energy.</p> <p>The baseline was as follows: Februarys core PCE index was +0.3% on a monthly basis, below the forecast of +0.4%. For March, analysts expected an increase of +0.3%. On an annualized (YoY) basis, an increase of 4.5% was expected, a slight drop from the previous months 4.6%.</p> <p>Hitting expectations or any positive surprises were expected to be bullish for the Bitcoin market. Renowned analyst Ted (@tedtalksmacro) <a href= "https://twitter.com/tedtalksmacro/status/1651895148421193730" rel= "noopener nofollow" target="_blank">stated</a> up front: Bulls want to continue seeing it trend south! and added the chances for a bullish surprise were good: CPI + PPI prints earlier in the month, at least for now, suggests that the path of least resistance is for lower inflation numbers.</p> <h2>PCE Slightly Impacts Bitcoin Price</h2> <p>These expectations were not met. As reported by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, core PCE came in at 0.3% on a monthly basis, as expected. On an annual basis, core PCE fell to 4.6%, also delivering the expected number.</p> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">BREAKING: US PCE data is out!</p> <p>Headline y/y 4.2% vs 4.1% expectation</p> <p>Headline m/m 0.1% vs 0.1% expectation</p> <p>Core y/y 4.6% vs 4.58% expectation</p> <p>Core m/m 0.3% vs 0.3% expectation</p> <p> Markets & Mayhem (@Mayhem4Markets) April 28, 2023

Bitcoin price reacted in line with expectations. At the time of writing, BTC was sticking to the price level around $29,300.

The big question, however, will be whether progress in fighting inflation is enough for Fed Chairman Jerome Powell. In a phone prank with a fake Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday, Powell acknowledged that there are at least two more rate hikes coming, followed by a long period of high interest rates with significant negative effects on the US economy and the US labor market.

Powell also stated that a recession in the United States is likely. This is what it takes to get inflation down. By cooling off the economy and cooling off the labor market inflation comes down. We dont know of any painless way for inflation to come down.</p> .....

A 1992 book, The Conspirators Hierarchy, the Committee of 300, written by ex-CIA agent John Coleman is gaining renewed attention as its predictions about a post-industrial world controlled by globalist technocrats appear to be coming true.

Architectonic Photographs by Charles Brooks Illuminate the Atmospheric Interiors of Historic Instruments "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A photograph taken of the inside of a pipe organ, illuminated to highlight its architectural features.

St. Marks Pipe Organ, Part 2. All images Charles Brooks, shared with permission

A pipe organ soars like a skyscraper-lined boulevard and a Steinway pianos action mechanism transforms into a sun-speckled tunnel in atmospheric photographs by Charles Brooks (previously). His ongoing Architecture in Music series highlights the inner structures of renowned instruments, imbuing the interiors with airy light. Bringing the camera inside a variety of string, brass, keyboard, and woodwind instruments, he offers unique insight into rarely seen textures, details, and patinas. He angles the camera from a low viewpoint, mimicking the perspective of standing in a grand space and looking up at architectural details like columns or skylights.

Brooks has played cello for most of his life and for two decades, performed in orchestras around the world, fueling his curiosity about how instruments are made and who built or played them. Unless youre a luthier, its unlikely you would ever see the inside of a violin, so the photographer wanted to highlight the precision and individuality of a wide variety of examples. Bitcoin Magazines Ordinal Auction Raises Questions About What Bitcoin Is Really For "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This publications decision to auction off its magazine covers as Ordinal inscriptions sparked debate about how we should use Bitcoin.

This is an opinion editorial by Nozomi Hayase, Ph.D., who has a background in psychology and human development.

On April 15, 2023, Bitcoin Magazine conducted its first-ever Ordinal inscriptions auction, putting its historic covers collection on sale. Some were excited by this new experimentation, which sought to provide buyers with a trust-minimizing experience, while others were not so happy.

David Bailey, the CEO of BTC Inc, the parent company of Bitcoin Magazine, tweeted that the worlds first Bitcoin-only magazine received harsh reaction from the Bitcoin community.

Francis Pouliot, the founder of non-custodial, bitcoin-only exchange and payments service Bull Bitcoin, underscored the criticisms in a reply to that tweet:

The Ordinal Controversy

Ordinals were proposed in 2022 by developer Casey Rodarmor. Launched on Bitcoins mainnet on January 21, 2023, it is a protocol that creates an inscription whereby sats (short for satoshis, the lowest denomination of a bitcoin) can be inscribed with arbitrary data. This can include JPEG files, clips and even video games.

But the introduction of the Ordinal protocol has stirred up a controversy which has divided the Bitcoin community. While some have shown favor for the prospect of inscribing collectibles on the chain permanently assisting the flourishing of the arts in the Bitcoin space, creating monetary demand for Bitcoin blockspace, incentivizing miners and more others have expressed concerns about storing that data directl...

How Soon Will Litecoin Breach This Psychological Resistance Level? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

In recent trading sessions, the price of Litecoin has remained stagnant below a significant resistance level while Bitcoin has experienced consistent fluctuations. Although Litecoin showed a slight increase of 2% in the last 24 hours, it lost 1% over the week, indicating consolidation.

The altcoins technical outlook suggests a potential bearish takeover, as demand and accumulation for the altcoin have both declined. The crucial overhead resistance level of Litecoin has been a barrier that the coin has failed to surpass previously. In the event of another rejection over the coming trading sessions, bears could successfully take over.

As Bitcoin approaches the $30,000 mark, major altcoins are following a similar price trend. If BTC successfully crosses this resistance level, Litecoin could experience a rally. However, the market capitalization of LTC has decreased in the last 24 hours, indicating a decline in buying strength.

Litecoin Price Analysis: One-Day Chart

Litecoin

At the time of writing, LTC was trading at $89.58, and the overhead resistance level was at $90, which the coin has attempted to break through over the past few weeks. If LTC manages to surpass this level, it could potentially trade near the $100 mark.

However, for a recovery on the chart to occur, selling pressure needs to decrease. On the flip side, if LTC falls from the $89 mark, it could reach $88. Failing to stay above that level could drag the price down to $84. The last trading session showed a red volume of LTC traded, indicating that sellers were dominating the market.

If Youre Interviewing For Jobs, Keep These Company Red Flags In Mind "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

We talk a lot about HR managers and what theyre looking for when theyre hiring new employees, and those posts are super helpful.

That said, people looking for new jobs need to be aware of what red flags might show up from the other end, too, because no one wants to spend all of those hours applying and interviewing only to end up somewhere they dont want to be.

These people are coming through with some things that would make them 100% rethink accepting an offer.

Can you give me a list?

My favorite is theres a lot of people waiting in line to work here, count yourself lucky. Huge red flag

I used to think well, I need a job and let myself think it was sweet that I was being given the chance, but I have a great work ethic so I always become the man ( supervisors seem to love that term). Well, Ive learned that when they say that they mean they are going to heap a lot more work and responsibility on you than your coworkers.

So, now I go into interviews with the attitude that I can always find another job, so I judge the company now.

Without skipping a beat.

I always ask about training and learning curves. Every job Ive had that went wrong- I notice that when that question came up they stumbled.

The current job I have, when I asked the question they had sparks in their eyes as they explained the whole process from day 1 of shadowing to the transition to working solo.

And even when covid hit they managed to continue without skipping a beat.

Terra Classic Recent Efforts Could Benefit LUNCs Growth Potential "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Terra Classic has been doing extensive clean-up work following the Terraport hack which shook the foundation of the ecosystem. This even led to the de-peg of the ecosystems stablecoin, USTC, leading to another catalyst for the bears to exploit.

Despite this, Terra Classic is putting in the work to re-anchor USTC to the US dollar.

Recently, a proposal hit the community which could potentially fix the stablecoin situation. Proposal 11487, titled USTC Incremental Repeg, Buybacks, Staking, Swaps, aims to fix the problem through a series of steps that would ensure the stability of the stablecoin.

A Proposal To Fix USTC Fundamentals

According to the Agora post dedicated to the proposal, two systems would be implemented if the proposal was accepted by the community, namely the Divergence Protocol and Protocol Buybacks.

The Divergence protocol aims to work by penalizing sellers that sell the USTC below the current market price. For example, if the seller creates an order to sell USTC at $0.95, he will only get $0.90 in profit as the Divergence fee will be deducted from the transaction.

RedlineDrifter, the mind behind the proposal, also said that the protocol would be implemented across all USTC trading pairs both on and off-chain but not on regular blockchain transactions.

This means only trading activity will experience this system and not everyday transactions. The Divergence fee would then be used in the protocol buyback system that would automatically buy back USTC to defend the tokens peg to the US dollar.

Solana (SOL) Price Holds Ultra Strong, Bulls Target $25 Today? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The price of Solana (SOL) faced a key directional decision in recent days, and currently it looks like the bulls have the upper hand after a tough battle with the bears. However, the SOL price is not out of the woods yet. But a decision could come as early as today.

Solana Poised To Rally Above $25?

The crypto market is still heavily dependent on macro data from the US. And before the next FOMC meeting is due next week, the PCE, the Federal Reserves preferred inflation metric, will be released today at 8:30 am EST (2:30 pm CET). This makes today the most important day of the week

Februarys personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index was +0.3% on a monthly basis, below the forecast of +0.4%. For March, analysts expect an unchanged increase of +0.3%. On an annual basis (YoY), an increase of 4.5% is expected, up from 4.6% in the previous month. If core inflation rates fall, a bullish reaction is expected in the crypto market, and Solana is perfectly positioned to deliver a massive upside bounce.

As we discussed in our analysis two days ago, SOL faced an extremely important trend decision on the 1-day chart over the past days. Already since the end of December 2022, Solana has formed an uptrend. However, the ascending trend line (black) was tested by the bears several times in the last few days.

Solana price

Currently, the SOL price is clearly above the trendline again. Thus, if the PCE in the US is favorable today, Solana could start a run towards the 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) (blue).

Since Solana fell below the bull line on April 8, 2022, it is still technically in bear territory. In mid-April 2023, the first attempts failed. While Bitcoin and numerous altcoins are already trading above th...

Plan Your Trip Across the Roads of the Roman Empire, Using Modern Web Mapping Technology "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

At the moment, I happen to be planning some time in France, with a side trip to Belgium included. Modern intra-European train travel makes arranging the latter quite convenient: Thalys, the high-speed rail service connecting those two countries, can get you from Paris to Brussels in about an hour and half. This stands in contrast to the time of the Roman Empire, which despite its political power lacked high-speed rail, and indeed lacked rail of any kind. But it did have an expansive network of roads, some of which you can still walk today, imagining what it would have been like to travel Europe two millennia ago. And now, using the website OmnesViae, you can get historically accurate directions as well.

Big Thinks Frank Jacobs describes OmnesViae as the online route planner the Romans never knew they needed. It leans heavily on the Tabula Peutingeriana also known as the Peutinger Map, and previously featured here on Open Culture the closest thing we have to a genuine itinerarium (road map) of the Roman Empire.

Why Coinbase CEO Believes SECs Crypto Warning Is Harmful To The US "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Coinbase Global and the US Securities and Exchange Commission have been at loggerheads for some time, and on Friday, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong released a video message calling the SECs warning not constructive and not good for America.

The friction between Coinbase and the SEC is part of a bigger attempt by the US government to regulate the cryptocurrency sector. SEC Chair Gary Gensler has called for cryptocurrency exchanges to register with the agency, which is the source of the animosity between Coinbase and the SEC.

This warning was issued by Armstrong in response to a Wells Notice that was delivered to Coinbase a month ago. The Wells Notice stated that the staff of the SEC had formed a preliminary determination to suggest an enforcement action for Coinbase for violating federal securities laws.

Coinbase CEO Opens Up On SECs Hardline Crypto Stance

In response to the Wells notice, Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States by volume, filed a letter to the SEC arguing that the regulators staffs legal arguments are flawed and untested and that an enforcement action would present major programmatic risks to the commission.

While Armstrong made it clear in his video that he was ready to take on the SEC in court, Coinbases written response to the SEC claimed that the agencys threat of litigation appears intended to pressure the organization into agreeing with the SECs position that all cryptoassets on the Coinbase platform are securities.

Coinbase Lawyer Says Theyre Ready To Cooperate With SEC

Also featured in the video was Coinbases chief legal officer, who indicated the company was ready to visit the SEC at any time to create a feasible future for the cryptocurrency industry in the United States.

In the 14 days since 2023 rolled in, the SEC has taken action against crypto entities and individuals with 14 separate orders of enforcement. Crypto staking schemes offered by other exchanges including Bittrex and Kraken have also been accused of offering the sale of unregistered securities.

Coinbase has responded by saying it will oppose any regulation of its own staking scheme, which is distinct from Krakens.

Despite claims from the SEC staff that Coinbases staking services constitute investment contracts, Coinbase maintains that it does not list, clear, or affect trading in securities through its platform.

Discovering Samadhi "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Discovering Samadhi

By Rev. Kat Carroll We all like to think we are in control of our lives. In fact, we feel lost and off our path when were not. It  leaves us feeling vulnerable, and as if we are not living up to certain expectations. But who is the one imposing those expectations, limitations, or high ideals?  Obviously, its you! You may be making decisions based on how you were indoctrinated in the school system.  Your parents had a lot to do with those feelings by constantly driving you to be your best.  They all meant well and were there when we were still discovering who we were. As an adult, the choices you make (right or wrong) are now your responsibility. However, it may be time to give yourself a break. For one, every experience, right/wrong, good/bad, are just that, an experience. Every experience teaches you something. If you dont learn the lesson, you may find yourself repeating some of those less than pleasant experiences. We stand at the precipice of a new era and the rules are changing. Are you willing to let go and go with the flow? Nowhere in written history is there a record of what mankind is now experiencing. There are great changes taking place within the planet, governments, and the various systems that used to tell society how to behave and who and what they should trust.  Many of the thoughts of how to exist in the world are falling away like a house of cards.  Even our belief systems are changing. Many are now questioning their grand role in the scheme of things.
  • Why am I here?
  • Where did I come from?
  • What am I supposed to be doing?
These are important questions as we learn that we are not alone in the universe. Disclosure has slowly been coming forward but not from the sources who would normally control the narrative, our governments and even the military agencies. Its coming from grass roots movements comprised of the everyday person, who is beginning to have extraordinary experiences; some even contacting higher dimensional beings via channeling, downloads, dreams, and those intuitive ideas that strike like lightening. If you find yourself having more moment...

This Woman Felt It Was Her Duty To Expose Her Sisters Fiancees Past To Her Family. Was She Wrong? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Were all protective of our family, and in particular, older siblings are told from a young age that its their job to look out for the younger ones.

OP is trying to convince everyone on Reddit thats all she was doing when she took a vulnerable confession from her future brother-in-law and threw his trust back in his face.

She says up front that she and her family have always liked him, but one night when he was quieter than normal, he broke down and told her the full truth of his past. OP was shocked and immediately told her husband.

She admits that it changed the way she saw him.

Im 37F and I come from a close-knit family. I have 2 younger siblings (28M and 27F) and my sister recently got engaged to FBIL (23M) after dating him for around a year. We all know him well and I have always got along with him. He comes from a rough background but he has always been very polite and charming. He doesnt talk about his own family or about his upbringing. My sister said its a painful topic for him so no one ever pushed.

There was recently a family event which FBIL attended. He was quiet during the day (he is normally high-energy and sociable) then disappeared for a while. When I went outside for some fresh air I bumped into him.

He was emotional and said it was a hard day for him due to negative associations. He ended up offloading some quite shocking things from his past including that he has a history of very serious drug use (including needles) and that he has done s^x work and p**n (men and women).

I felt for him at the time because he was so upset (literally crying on my shoulder) but afterwards I felt more and more uncomfortable.

I still feel bad for him since he clearly regrets it but its very shocking to find out he has that kind of history and it does make...

Why This Top Financial Expert Is Saying Buy Bitcoin Amid Looming Bank Failures "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The traditional banking system is facing major challenges, and according to top financial expert Bernstein, Bitcoin (BTC) could be a savior.

Bernstein analysts foresee Bitcoins long-awaited mainstream adoption could be potentially triggered by the US banking crisis.

The analysts suggest that the current state of the banking system will fuel a new crypto cycle, driven by mass migration to self-custody wallets. In a note seen by CNBC, analysts Gautam Chhugani and Manas Agrawal noted:

The safe haven signal will lead to a new crypto cycle, pushing digital wallets as on-chain savings accounts. The gap between Treasury rates and bank deposit rates will continue to hollow out banks, with weak balance sheets leading to another round of mass migration to money markets.

According to Bernstein analysts, with recent events causing widespread financial uncertainty, investors are increasingly looking towards alternative investment options such as Bitcoin.

BTC Continues Its Uptrend

Despite the supposed buy signal, Bitcoin (BTC) hasnt made any significant move yet. Instead, it has only seemed to picked up from its slowed-down uptrend in recent weeks. Over the past 24 hours, the top crypto has surged only 1.5% with a market price of $29,402, at the time of writing.

Bitcoin (BTC)s price chart on TradingView

This gearing uptrend comes after a notable fall from the $30,000 region in recent weeks. So far, Bitcoin has a 24-hour range between a low of $28,748 and a high of $29,869. Alongside its price, the BTC market cap has also seen an uptrend. Its trading volume signals buying pressure indicating a possible continuous bullish trend.

Over the past week, Bitcoins market capitalization have surged from a low of $527 billion on April 22 to as high as $569 billion as of today. Its trading volume has also spiked from a daily trading volume of $19 billion to $23.3 billion, over the same period.

Implications Of The Banking Crisis On Bitcoin

According to Bernstein analysts, the growing banking crisis in the US could...

Ethereum Price Looks Set For Another Leg Over $2K "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Ethereum price is trading in a positive zone above $1,850 support against the US Dollar. ETH could rally toward $2,000 if it stays above the $1,880 support.

  • Ethereum is consolidating and facing resistance near the $1,925 level.
  • The price is trading above $1,850 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average.
  • There is a key contracting triangle forming with resistance near $1,920 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD (data feed via Kraken).
  • The pair could rally again if it clears the $1,925 resistance.

Ethereums price started a fresh increase from the $1,800 support zone. ETH gained pace and was able to settle above the $1,850 resistance zone, similar to Bitcoin.

The upward move was such that the price even cleared the $1,880 resistance. A high is formed near $1,940 and the price is now consolidating gains. It is trading near the 50% Fib retracement level of the recent increase from the $1,873 swing low to the $1,940 high.

Immediate resistance is near the $1,925 level and the triangle region. A close above the $1,925 level might start a fresh rally. In the stated case, the price could rise toward the $1,960 resistance. Any more gains could send Ether toward the $2,000 resistance. Finally, if the bulls remain in action, there could be a drift toward the $2,120 level where the bears might take a stand and protect more gains.

Alright, folks, were about to get some REAL TALK today.

Because the people youre about to meet from AskReddit are going on the record and admitting the secrets they have that could potentially ruin their lives if they ever got out.

Yeah, thats pretty heavy

Are you ready to hear their confessions?

Lets get started!

Fakin it.

I sold weed (like multiple pounds a week) to pay for college.

My parents think I got a scholarship and thats why I didnt take out more than like $10k in SLs (just my first year).

Sounds like a good thing to me.

Im mixed up in the fast food game.

Sometimes I tell the homeless people around the corner what time we throw out the expired burgers, so they can grab them from the trash.

Its explicitly banned in our code of ethics that we sign when we start.

Used to have a problem.

Ive kept on the downlow I used to be a al**holic.

I used to live in one state and moved to another so it made it easier. I went to rehab and detox, after aftercare program. Afterwards a sober home and my own apartment but its always a stigma if i let anyone know my journey. Im 31 and Honestly its sucks because I want to break free from lying but its tough because I believe anyone I tell will judge me and not want to talk to me.

Its easier to lie. And its worked so well so far so why fix whats not broken. But I also get how it can eventually catch up. Just stuck in the middle.

A team of Polish and American researchers discovered a two-foot-tall stone Buddha statue in the temple ruins of Berenike, an ancient port city on the coast of the Red Sea in southeast Egypt. The partially reclaimed statue likely dates back to the 2nd century, providing evidence of Indian influence and trade relations with the Ancient Roman Empire by way of Egypt.

Greenidge Generation Completes Deployment Of 9,150 Bitcoin Miners Of Which 6,914 Will Be Hosted With Core Scientific "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The agreement is set to bring approximately $7.5 million of annual revenue according to Greenidge CEO Dave Anderson.

Greenidge Generation Holdings Inc. has signed a hosting agreement with Core Scientific, Inc. in which Core Scientific will operate and host 6,914 Greenidge-owned bitcoin miners at its facilities in Dalton, GA and Calvert City, KY.

"The agreement with Core Scientific completes this phase in our strategy to deploy 9,150 miners Greenidge owns, and we believe this agreement will significantly improve our profitability as we move forward," said Dave Anderson, CEO of Greenidge. "We are very pleased to deploy these miners at Core's facilities, which have favorable power costs and a track record of excellent operational performance."

In addition to the hosting agreement, Greenidge announced the installation of an additional 1,500 company-owned miners at the company's existing facilities across the country. With the combination of these two initiatives and the previously announced agreement with Conifex Timber Inc., Greenidge expects to generate approximately $7.5 million of incremental annual profit, according to Anderson.

Matt Minnis, Co-Founder of Core Scientific, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, "Greenidge is a proven operator in this industry, and we're excited to partner with them and host their miners. We believe this is a win-win for Core and Greenidge."

The hosting agreement is set to be a one-year agreement between Greenidge and Core Scientific and includes a proceed-sharing component to recognize the contribution of miners by Greenidge and the infrastructure and operating expertise provided by Core Scientific.

The Power of the Lawsuit New Leftist Way of Dodging Investigations "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Weve seen it over and over again how the law never seems to apply to the Democrats. They can commit perjury and get away with it. They can commit treason and get away with it. They can be sexually promiscuous and get away with it, but nobody else is allowed to though! We know that a double standard in justice now exists with the DOJ populated with Obama appointees and AG Merrick Garland, the little coward who sits back and orders heavily armed ATF teams to terrorize parents who attend school board meetings because of scumbags who want to allow sexual content in school curriculum. Weve seen him order FBI raids on people who didnt even attend on Capitol Hill on January sixth alleged insurrection but it was alright for children to be traumatized by armed agents pointing guns at them.

The new solution to prosecution

Theres a new style of litigation now that fends off investigations over blatant law breaking. When you get caught red handed just sue for a billion dollars and like a silver cross to a vampire, suddenly the righteous investigation stalls or goes away because the other party doesnt have donors willing to put up the money for a true criminal hearing and trial. You might recall Kamala Harris when holding office in California used her position to litigate against Project Veritas when they blew the whistle on Planned Parenthood for selling baby parts to laboratories and making good money at it too! Why not use taxpayers money to make up a frivolous lawsuit?

Lawsuits were also issued by other parties being investigated for suspected vote tampering with the same response. Just file a lawsuit and youll be fine even if you are guilty of the allegations! David Hockney Painting Worth $35,000 Is Discovered on BBCs Antiques Roadshow

Old David Hockney Painting is Discovered at Antiques Roadshow

Photo: Screenshot from BBC's Antiques Roadshow

As one of the most famous contemporary artists, David Hockney is known for his distinctive, colorful style and depictions of Los Angeles' swimming pools. However, not many realize how much his art has changed over the years. A painting made early in Hockney's career was recently discovered on an episode of BBC's Antiques Roadshow and is estimated to be worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Unlike Hockney's well-known works, the vintage landscape is made with a muted green color palette and possesses a rough, textured surface. The anonymous owner brought the painting onto the BBC show to have it appraised by art specialist Ruper Maas, recounting the story of how the precious work fell into his hands. He explained that his grandfather met Hockney in the town of Trimley St. Marty in 1957 and invited him and his companion for Sunday lunch, where he purchased a painting from each artist. Maas delved into the story and confirmed that Hockney was traveling through Suffolk during that time to see the nature that inspired Romantic painter John Constable.

This is not at all what I'm used to seeing by David Hockney, Maas comments upon first seeing the picture. I have this idea that they only had green and brown with them because they were broke. At the time of its creation, Hockney was still a student at Bradford School of Art and not settled into...

Help stop two bad vaccine bills in the Alabama Legislature! "IndyWatch Feed Food"

Alabama Legislative Bills H.B. 290 and S.B. 229 would trivialize very real vaccine risks and serious reactions by allowing toddlers and young children to get vaccinated at the corner drug or grocery store pharmacy without a doctors prescription.

These bills allow a pharmacist to order a prescription for any of the following vaccines or immunizations:

  • A seasonal influenza vaccine for an individual who is two years of age or older.
  • Any vaccine that the pharmacist is authorized by law to administer to an individual who is 19 years of age or older.
  • Any vaccine to prevent Covid-19 for an individual who is three years of age or older.
  • Any vaccine on the Center for Disease Controls Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices Immunization Schedules to an individual who is no younger than three years of age and no older than 18 years of age.

The only additional requirement for the pharmacist when administering vaccines to children is that the pharmacist discusses with the individual, or any adult accompanying the individual, the importance of an annual well-child appointment with a pediatrician or other primary care physician.

Any time pharmacists are allowed to vaccinate, let alone prescribe vaccines, creates significant risks.  Pharmacists are not qualified to recognize or handle serious adverse reactions, nor are they likely to have full knowledge of patient or family history.

The Weston A. Price Foundation is still opposed to the bill because the remaining language it is the public policy of the state that students are expected to be fully immunized against human papillomavirus (HPV) could be interpreted by the Health Department to imply they are being called on to create a rule to mandate the vaccine.

Also, HPV vaccines have far too many problems with side effects, so the state should not have a public policy expecting the vaccination of students.

HPV vaccination can carry life-threatening side effects.  There have been more than 73,000 adverse reactions, including many deaths, reported to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) related to the HPV vaccine and it is estimated by the government that only 1% of all reactions are ever reported!

Did you know that the HPV vaccine, called Gardasil 9:

  • may actually increase precancerous lesions
  • only targets a few of the over 100 known human papillomaviruses
  • has not been shown to last longer than 5 years

And it has never been properly studied, despite the tens of thousands of adverse reactions that have been reported to the government in connection with the HPV vaccine.

Students should not be expected to get this high-risk vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease!

Please help us stop this bill!

Beautiful Portrait Series Celebrates the Flower Men of Saudi Arabia "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Beautiful Portrait Series Celebrates the Flower Men of Saudi Arabia

Saudi Flower Men by Omar Reda

In Saudi Arabia's southern province of Asir, it's common to find stalls selling elaborate flower crowns. The intricate headpieces are highly detailed, and some weigh quite a bit due to the sheer amount of greenery they contain. And while flowers are often associated with women, these crowns will actually make their way onto the heads of a group known as the Flower Men.

Photographer Omar Reda set out to capture this unique tradition, which is carried on by members of the Qahtan tribe. Descendents of the ancient Tihama and Asir groups, these men are participating in a custom that dates back over 2,000 years. The crowns incorporate flowers, herbs, and greens and are worn for different reasons. They are readily available and can be customized to the wearer's style. Younger generations of Qahtani men often select crowns with colorful flowers and show off their personalities through aesthetics. The older generation often has a more minimalist approach to the design and often incorporates more herbs for their medicinal properties.

Reda, who has been fascinated by different cultures since childhood, traveled to the region in order to see the Flower Men for himself. While members of the tribe are notoriously closed to outsiders, they've opened up in recent years due to interest in their traditions. This allowed Reda to make connections and take a beautiful series of portraits that celebrates Qahtani culture.

My hope is for people to develop a deeper appreciation for the flower crown tradition and to showcase the richness and diversified culture of Saudi Arabia, Reda tells My Modern Met.

The Lebanese photographer, who is based in Saudi Arabia, also works as a creative director and this shines through in the final product. The portraits are pared down and straightforward, allowing viewers to hone in on the crowns and appreciate their details. It's a wonderful view of the world away from the globalization that surrounds us daily and is a reminder that these p...

Bitcoin ATM Provider CoinFlip Launches New Olliv Self-Custody Platform "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The exchange will be primarily focused on education and the onboarding of newcomers.

CoinFlip, a major bitcoin ATM provider, has launched a self-custody-powered crypto platform called Olliv

Olliv aims to provide a frictionless way for consumers to buy, sell, send, receive, and swap assets securely stored on a self-custodial wallet, according to a press release sent to Bitcoin Magazine. The company seeks to welcome new investors to bitcoin by serving as an on-ramp for those they educate through its functions as a beginners exchange.

Leveraging CoinFlips existing network of crypto ATMs and customer service, Olliv serves to bridge the gap between physical and digital investing, expanding accessibility to this emerging technology, the press release states. Coinflip currently operates one of the largest bitcoin ATM networks in the world. Seemingly building off of this, the company says it plans to offer an intuitive interface for secure transactions, as well as 24/7 live customer service, in addition to providing educational resources via user-friendly content features.

"We envision a future where everyone can participate in the digital economy and utilize their holdings to make everyday purchases and gain access to previously hard-to-buy assets such as precious metals, real estate and energy, without the need for frustrating third-party intermediaries," said Rory Herriman, Chief Technology, Digital and Strategy Officer of CoinFlip. "Our vision for Olliv is to innovate and break down barriers around safety, security, and sovereignty to empower people to invest and give them individual ownership of their assets thanks to the accessibility cryptocurrency provides."

Olliv is available for residents in the United States and Puerto Rico, except for Alaska, Iowa, New York, Oregon, Nevada, Arkansas, Louisiana and Vermont with intentions to expand in accordance with local regulation.

Heras Poetic Portraits of Childlike Scavengers Foster Therapeutic Interactions Between Artist and Self "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

German-Pakistani artist Jasmin Siddiqui, who works as Hera and was half of the street art duo known as Herakut, brings a new series of scavengers to Corey Helford Gallery this month in tHERApy room 2. The solo show extends a body of work Hera presented in 2021, similarly depicting a large-eyed young woman donning the heads of wildlife. Defined by the artists graffiti style with drips, splatters, and sweeping spray-painted marks, the portraits connect adolescent wonder, innocence, and naivety to the broader human condition. Each note I write and share with the world is actually a message addressed to that inner child, the vulnerable part that needs that extra encouragement, that talk of hope, of magic, and a little bit of escapism, she says.

Having first picked up a can of spray paint 23 years ago, Hera considers these works a reflection of her evolution as an artist and person, saying:

If you will, you could see each piece as a therapy session, where the therapist would be Hera wielding brush and spray paint, and the patient would be Jasmin, the woman underneath the animal metaphor hats and masks. Describing my artwork that way makes it seem as if I had never stopped working in a duo.

Scorpio Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Ritual May 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Scorpio Full Moon Lunar Eclipse peaks on May 5th, 2023. This Eclipse may bring sudden endings, reveal secrets, or stir past events that need our attention. While there is a heaviness attached to this Eclipse, it also seems that the Universe is reminding us to surrender, find our freedom, and activate a sense of curiosity and hope about what is ahead.

Trust whatever is released from your life under this Eclipse. Use it to fuel a greater sense of freedom and to shift your life to a new chapter that is more aligned.

Here is a ritual to guide you through these energies:

Scorpio Lunar Eclipse Ritual

This ritual is best done anytime between April 26- May 15, 2023

You will need:

Directions:

1.) Begin your ritual with the Heart Drumming Meditation. This active meditation is designed to open your heart energies, rebalance your chakras, and activate the energy of compassion. It is the perfect way to begin the rest of this ritual.

2.) Once your meditation is complete, get your pen and paper and choose one of the following journal prompts. You can also just free-flow write whatever comes to your mind if you prefer:

  • I want to release.
  • I feel most blocked when.
  • Habits that no longer serve me are.
  • I stress too much about.
  • Its time to stop
  • I release my control over.

Aim to write for at least 10-20 minutes. Encourage yourself to dig deep. After writing, read over what you have written and reflect on any insights or ah-ha moments. If you have identified things you wish to release, perhaps think about ways to support yourself in doing so, or alternative actions you can take instead.

3.) Take your papers, and on your next exhale, begin ripping them into strips. Imagine that on every rip, you are actively releasing and letting go of all that no longer serves you. You can also recite the following as you tear-

Optical Illusion Looks Like a Photo Taken From Space But Its Not "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Optical Illusion Looks Like a Photo Taken From Space But Its Not

Have you ever seen breathtaking images taken by astronauts aboard the ISS? The curvature of the Earth dominates the composition, while the blue ocean and green fragments of land shine below. In the background, the pitch black space is dotted with bright stars. As much as you'd think this description fits the image above, the truth is that this photo is an optical illusion.

Anyone who comes across the picture may argue about the presence of clouds, atmospheric layers, and the unmistakable blue of the ocean, but the real trick lies in the angle of the image. Rotate it about 120 and you'll see that the supposed curvature of our planet is no more than a horizon line. The picture was indeed taken right here on Earth.

In reality, the picture depicts the skyline of Manila, taken during a particularly colorful sunset from a tall building on Katipunan Avenue. The image was taken Jamo Fevidal, who posted it all the way back in February 2016. Now, it has reached viral status after user Massimo (aka @Rainmaker1973) reshared it to make a point about how optical illusions mess with our brain.

If you didn't get it at first, you're not alone! Many people were left wondering about what they were looking at until they turned their phones upside down. This is just one more in the long list of optical illusions that catch us off guard and leave us scratching our heads.

But why does it happen? Optical illusions happen when our brain and eyes try to speak to each other in simple language but the interpretation gets a bit mixed-up, writes the University of Queensland. For example, it thinks our eyes told it something is moving but thats not what the eyes meant to say to the brain. While it remains a mystery how brai...

A New Website Lets You Search For Full Text On The Bitcoin Blockchain "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Preturino lets users search all plain text available on the Bitcoin blockchain since the genesis block.

Preturnio, a full-text search engine for the Bitcoin blockchain, has been introduced, allowing users to scan for Bitcoin transactions that include readable text.

Preturnio is a platform that allows for the search of plain text within any coinbase transaction, text-based ordinal inscription or OP_RETURN script since the genesis block. All data in the Bitcoin blockchain is stored natively in hexadecimal format, and Preturnio offers search results that are converted to a readable format. OP_RETURN is a unique opcode in the Bitcoin scripting language that enables data to be embedded in a transaction output without the need to spend any bitcoin.

This was added to the Bitcoin protocol in 2014, primarily to allow for the creation of simple, low-cost and secure timestamping services. OP_RETURN has been useful in various applications, including digital signatures, notarization and proof of ownership. The recently launched Ordinals project has created a significant debate on the topic of immutable data time stamped onto Bitcoin.

Regardless of where you stand on this issue, the docs page of the website states, the fact remains that there is a ton of plain text buried in the Bitcoin blockchain so Preturnio was created to make searching for this text easier and more enjoyable.

Preturnio searches in three areas where plain text can be found quickly: inside a coinbase transaction, inside an OP_RETURN script, and inside a text or HTML based ordinal inscription. Preturnio searches every block mined since the genesis block to locate a match inside a transaction for the text/pattern the user is looking for. The website offers various search options, with the interface designed to be as user-friendly as possible, according to the docs page. Users simply enter the text they are looking for and click the search icon or press ENTER. They can search for a single word, a phrase or just about any set of characters.

The Preturnio docs include search examples. The platform offers different types of searches, including searching for a single word or a phrase. Preturnio will return results for any transaction that contains that phrase or part of it. To match on an exact phrase, enclose the query in double quotes (). The website only does a literal search when enclosed in these quotes. This is important to remember, the website adds. For search phrases with more than one word, Preturnio will only return for transactions with all words in the phrase - if a transaction contains one of the phrase words but not all, it won't be included in the search results.

Preturnio aims to offer simple and effective search features that will make...

Creative Cosplayer Will Make You Laugh With Low Cost Costumes of Pop Culture Characters

Low Cost Cosplay Funny Cosplay

Most fun things might feel out of reach when you're strapped for cash, and cosplay is one of them. Creating an elaborate costume can be expensiveand not to mention time-consuming. But not for Anucha Saengchart, aka Lonelyman. For years, the ingenious creative has assembled low-cost cosplay that requires very little in fancy materials. With some everyday household items, body paint, and clever camera angles, he recreates characters from popular culture with a surprising amount of faithfulness.

Saengchart shares his cosplay transformations in a four-panel format. This allows us to fully appreciate how low-budget and inventive they are. A perfect distillation of his artistry and philosophy is in a tiny cosplay featuring Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) as the superhero named Black Adam.

The character is from a DC comic and appeared in a 2022 film of the same name. To recreate the bald-headed Johnson, Saengchart didnt bother shaving his black hair. Instead, he found a dark gray sock with a hole in it and pulled it over one of his toes. He then distressed the sock even more and painted a portrait of Black Adam onto his toe, taking care to emulate the gold patch thats found on the character's suit. The final form showcases a close-up view of his toe and the tattered sock that mimics Johnson and his outfit in the film.

Another benefit to Saengcharts low-cost cosplay is that these projects dont take as long as some more elaborate costumes, which allows him to keep us continually entertained. Scroll down for some of his hilarious recreations and then follow his popular Instagram account for more.

Are You Thunder or Lightning? "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

Sixteenth Century Engraved sun and moon image. Courtesy of Wikimedia Commons.

I have always liked categorical statements that are obviously wrong. When someone says to me This is the way the world works, I get very excited, even though of course nobody knows how the world works. Or, even better: There are only two types of people in the world. This statement is usually followed by two binary qualities that could be used to define and divide all of humanity. Such a proposition is clearly ridiculous and, to me, deeply appealing. This is perhaps why my favorite game is called Dichotomies.

The game originated because my friends and I are always talking about our other friends. One night my friend Nick and I began idly categorizing people we knew, somewhat arbitrarily, as either thunder or lightning. We knew immediately who was which: Nick and I are both lightning. Our friend Ben: thunder. Alex: lightning. Graham: thunder. Lily: thunder, though maybe she has a bit of lightning too? We discussed and debated. This dichotomy is a good one in part because of its ambiguity; not everyone interprets it quite the same way, but everyone has a strong instinct for what each category might mean, and a sense of who might be which. Our attempts at categorizing people opened up some interesting questions: Was so-and-so outgoing, or actually quite shy? Did he make a big impression at first, or grow on you later? Was there a certain kind of power in being thunder and a different one in being lightning? Which would you rather be? And why was it so easy to tell the difference?

So I began to think of other interesting binaries. Another friend and I decided that some people are men about town and some people are helluva town guys. (Gender-neutral.) As I see it, a man about town is someone who always has fifteen plans that theyre running to, someone who is excited to meet new people and try new things, someone who is essentially oriented toward the public sphere and the allure of the untried and untested. At a party, they will end up talking for hours to a fascinating stranger who they will never see again, but theyll remember the conversation forever. A helluva town guy is someone who likes to go to the same bar every weekend and drink ten beers...

Painter Makes Serene Landscapes Appear Within a Single Brushstroke "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Painter Makes Serene Landscapes Appear Within a Single Brushstroke

Landscape Paintings by David Ambarzumjan

Flashes of landscapes cut across black space in the paintings of David Ambarzumjan. The Munich-based artist has been building on his ongoing series, titled Brushstrokes in Time, which pairs two different scenes together through the use of a giant, sweeping brushstroke. While in some he contrasts the past with the present, in others he juxtaposes the natural beauty of Earth with the depths of black space.

These striking paintings feature a black starry background upon which a colorful brushstroke claims a central space. Painted as wavy or arching gestures, these wide strokes somehow contain entire worlds. Ambarzumjan renders everything from snowy mountaintops to peaceful green meadows inside the limited space, all while maintaining the illusion of one solid brushstroke.

While the approach is simple, the execution requires meticulous work, as he has to ensure that the painting is convincingly trapped inside the border. The finished product is worth it, however, as these bursts of color and life on the dark background are reminders that all of Earth's beautiful nature originated from outer space.

You can purchase prints of Ambarzumjan's work via his online shop, and keep up to date with his latest projects by following his Instagram.

With Insight Honed Since $5 BTC, Tuur Demeester Is Ready For Bitcoin 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Tuur Demeester, a macroeconomic analyst who has offered insight into Bitcoin since 2012, will bring his unique insight to Bitcoin 2023.

Tuur Demeester has a self-described out of the box approach to macroeconomic analysis, and its one that has made his insight into Bitcoins unprecedented potential sought after by institutions (in 2021, Demeesters bitcoin alpha fund Adamant Capital was sold to Blockstream, where he is now an advisor) as well as individuals (Demeesters is ranked as the third best Bitcoin Twitter account to follow by social media analyst Hive.One).

Combining deep research into historical patterns, an academically-rigorous approach and a willingness to embrace new innovation, Demeesters outlook on how Bitcoin fits into our wider world has been remarkable for its consistency and prescience for more than a decade.

He first recommended BTC as an investment to readers of his newsletter in 2012, when it was priced at $5. In 2013 (with bitcoin priced around $100), he told Bitcoin Magazine:

I think bitcoin and the cryptocurrencies are the greatest investment opportunity of our day and age. First of all because bitcoin has all the qualities to make for an ideal money, to a greater extent than any digital or tangible commodity on the planet. Second, in contrast with traditional fiat money, bitcoin is designed for the internet; its open source, its mobile, fast, and it allows for personal privacy. Third, because we are approaching a bankruptcy event in the developed economies, both in banks and governments, I think that bitcoin, as a discrete and nonconfiscatable currency, will benefit greatly from the capital flight that will ensue.

As more people around the world have realized Demeester is right about this nascent digital currency, his own perspective has continued to grow. In the introductory note to Adamants landmark research paper from 2019, The Bitcoin Reformation, Demeester made the case that bitcoin was not merely a new kind of money, but represented a fundamental shift with few precedents in history.

In the past Ive drawn parallels between bitcoin and the early petroleum industry, the search engine wars, the domain name markets, the growth of P2P file sharing, and internet...

Traditional Design Meets Modern Function in Natura Ceramicas Elemental Earthenware Vessels "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Two ceramic vases made from old oak singles and gray clay.

Harnessing the rich, organic textures of soil, stone, and timber, Ukrainian artists Andriy and Olesya Voznicki of Natura Ceramica create voluminous ceramic vessels and sculptures. Based in Amsterdam, the duo draw inspiration from natural phenomena like the changing seasons, patinas and aging, and elements like fire or earth. The pieces mirror the shapes and textures of boulders or lava rock, suggesting both beauty and resiliency and influenced by a concept called bionic design, which mimics characteristics and adaptations in nature.

While many pieces are presented seriessuch as Gonta, which often features old oak shingles nestled into cushion-like clay formseach piece is unique. The inspiration for the vases comes from both ancient Carpathian architecture and modern bionic design, reads a statement. The use of old shingle roofs that have their own history adds a sense of nostalgia and a connection to the past.

Government Censorship of Natural Health Products on the Rise "IndyWatch Feed Health"

Hundreds of letters have been sent to natural products companies warning them that if they fall afoul of the agencys ridiculous rules by sharing information that can benefit your health, there will be hell to pay. Action Alert!

Once again, the government is trying to limit your access to the information we have about the benefits of natural products. The FTC sent letters to 670 companies, including those selling dietary supplements, homeopathic products, and functional foods, warning them that if they make claims without proper scientific substantiation, they will face large civil penaltiesup to $50,120 per violation. This unprecedented move is a warning shot to the natural health industry signaling that were entering a new era of enforcement in which the government will be even more aggressive than it has been in censoring speech about the benefits of natural products. We must push back.

This is a complex issue that is quite technical, but what were facing is a government-led campaign to conceal the remarkable truth about the healing and disease-preventing powers of foods and nutrients, ultimately misleading the public so that they spend their money on drugs rather than natural supplements.

The crux of the issue is that the FTC, in conjunction with the FDA, is trying to impose drug standards on supplements, requiring expensive clinical trials in order for supplement companies to make most health claims. Not only are clinical trials often inappropriate for studying nutrients, they are not economically feasible. As weve explained many times, clinical trials are incredibly expensive. Drug companies can afford them because drugs are patentable and the costs can be recouped when the drug is approved and sold for exorbitant prices. Nutrients generally cannot be strongly patented, so the costs of clinical trials cannot be recouped. The government knows this, so the attempt to require clinical trials for supplement claims is a backdoor ban on most claims. This makes sense if your goal is to protect the drug industry from competition, but not if you want to promote public health by empowering consumers with information so they can take control of their own health.

The salvo of FTC letters was preceded by a revision to the agencys Health Products Compliance guidance in Dec...

This follows a bearish movement that occurred after Bitcoin reclaimed the $29,000 level. A flash crash sent the pioneer cryptocurrency back to $27,500 and the crypto market tumbled along with it. However, not all altcoins in the space followed this as three assets have continued to see gains.

Kaspa (KAS) Rises Over 10%

In the hours that followed Bitcoins decline, Kaspa (KAS) was one of the cryptocurrencies that were able to shake off the bears with ease. In the last day, the altcoin is up over 10% and was able to reclaim the $0.03 level before experiencing some resistance and correcting back down.

One reason behind the impressive movement has been the announcement that the cryptocurrency would be getting listed on its very first exchange in the United States. The Uphold digital asset trading platform is listing the altcoin for trading on Thursday, April 27, and the news of this listing saw the trading volume of the cryptocurrency rise over 82%, leading to its surge in price.

KAS has also seen multiple exchange listings this month with LBank and Bitget also listing the digital asset for trading in the last week.

Injective (INJ) Gains Reach 9%

Injective (INJ) protocol has been behind Kaspa (KAS) when it comes to gains. Over the last 24 hours, the cryptocurrency has rallied around 9%, making it one of the best performers for this time period. This gain has brought the digital assets price to about $8.85, clearing the dreaded resistance at $8.8.

INJs gains for the last month have also risen to 139% on the 30-day chart. Its trading volume has seen a 51% increase as well and is now sitting at $332 million.

Render (RNDR) Maintains Considerable Gains

Render (RNDR) has seen the lowest gains of the bunch but that does not mean that the altcoin has done poorly by any measure. With over 6% gains in a 24-hour period, RNDR has emerged as one of the only cryptocurrencies to be seeing green during these uncertain times.

Just like the others, the altcoin is also doing well on the 7-day and 30-day charts. It is up 10.43% in the last week and 99.99% on the monthly chart. Its trading volume is also up as well with an 81.34% increase in one day.

Whats Driving These Gains?

Besides Kaspas listing on the Uphold exchange, there seems to be no apparent reason why the other coins are pumping. It mostly comes to some leftover momentum from...
