Slojd: Opting Out by MAKING What You Need The Organic Prepper

This has been a multi-year process of gradually deciding, You know, Im not supporting that company with my money anymore, and its rapidly gotten to the point where my blacklist has a lot in common with the length of a CVS receipt.

Were witnessing the culmination of the long march through the institutions, and there are a lot of Americans out there who are in the same boat as I am here with all this.

And if you find yourself looking for some sense of direction with the tangibles of daily life, feeling the need to pull a John Galt and opt-out from much of pop culture society in modern America, I think youll find the 1800s Swedish concept of slojd (pronounced sloyd) interesting.

In 1865, a Swede with a name reminiscent of a card game, Otto Solomon, created a teaching system for young Swedes with the intention of getting more of them skilled in a trade and independent when they finally graduated from high school. He called the concept slojd. Basically, the idea was that you would teach kids manual skills such as woodworking, metalworking, knitting, and the like, so that they would have some marketable skill they could earn a living from, they wouldnt have to purchase everything they needed, and they would be able to fend for themselves better.

The kids would start with simple projects (e.g., make a butter knife) and then move up to more and more difficult assignments as their skills progressed.

In many ways, I think this is a concept worth exploring.

A kid who has been educated in this manner has less of an incentive to go to a four-year indoctrination camp after he gets his high school diploma. Why go thousands of dollars in debt for a degree to get a job when I can get a good-paying job today without the debt using the manual skills I already possess?

You also end up with the next generation not needing major companies for their daily needs (at least not as extensively), diminishing the power of those uber-corporations in the future.

But slojd isnt just about education. Its also a system of woodworking, and, admittedly, something of a toe-deep philosophy as well. Lets get the philosophy stuff out of the way first. Basically, its simply that you make what you need with what you have. (Thats why its toe-deep. It doesnt answer the big questions about life, but instead, is a philosophy in the same sense as why some basketball coaches like to run full-court presses all the time.)

President Alexander Lukashenko has confirmed in fresh remarks to Russian state television that Belarus has begun taking delivery of Russian tactical nuclear weapons which had earlier been promised by President Vladimir Putin.

Lukashenko in remarks to Rossiya-1 TV channel boasted that the tactical nukes are three times more powerful than the atomic bombs dropped by the United States in World War II on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

We have missiles and bombs that we have received from Russia, Lukashenko confirmed in the interview, which was also carried by Belarus Belta state news agency.

The bombs are three times more powerful than those (dropped on) Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he added, in footage that appeared to feature a military storage facility in the background.

Though stationed on Belarusian territory, the nuclear weapons will remain under the control of Russias military, and the Kremlin hasnt given any sign it has altered its nuclear use doctrine, which stipulates they can only be launched if Russia and its population are under existential threat.

Back in March, Putin had hinted there may have already been Russian nukes stationed in Belarus, but these and statements since then have remained perhaps purposefully ambiguous.

Infamous Tyrant Henry Kissinger Claims The U.S. and China Are On The Precipice Of War SHTF Plan

The infamous tyrant, who is responsible for millions of civilian deaths, Henry Kissinger, is claiming that the United States and China are on the precipice of war. Kissinger who is being touted as a diplomat instead of the adviser to tyrants, has said military conflict is definitely possible.

This sociopath has been known to be a brutal member of the ruling class for decades. He once said: If you control the food, you control a nation. If you control the energy, you control a region. If you control the money, you control the world.

On Thursday, Kissinger claimed that if the U.S. and China both continue to pursue their current policies, a war could break out. During an interview with Bloomberg, he warned that on the current trajectory of relations, I think some military conflict is probable. He claimed that China-U.S. relations have reached a unique situation as both countries view each other with deep suspicion. The biggest threat to China is America, in its perception, and the same is true here [in the U.S.], Kissinger said.

On the other hand, wars have become either unwinnable or winnable only at costs that are out of proportion, the former diplomat added, warning that both countries must now step back from the top of a precipice.

Kissinger insisted that the current trajectory of relations must be altered and pointed to signs that both sides are seeking de-escalation. RT

Kissinger added that it was debatable whether the US and China would be able to defuse tensions. They have not yet actually engaged in the sort of dialogues that Ive suggested. But I think they are moving towards it, he said.

The upcoming visit of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to China is supposedly to diffuse tensions. According to Washington, the two sides intend to discuss the importance of maintaining open lines of communication as well as a number of bilateral issues of concern.

The landmark trip comes at a low point in relations as Taiwan continues to prove to be a sticking point for both ruling classes.

Wall Street to the Fed: Inflation Is Over. Give Us More Easy Money! SHTF Plan

The federal governments Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released new price inflation data Tuesday, and according to the report, price inflation during May decelerated, coming in at the lowest year-over-year increase in twenty-six months. According to the BLS, Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rose 4.0 percent year over year in May before seasonal adjustment.

Thats down from Aprils year-over-year increase of 4.9 percent, and May is the twenty-seventh month in a row with inflation above the Feds arbitrary 2 percent inflation target. (More precisely, the Fed targets a two-percent rate in the PCE measure.)

Meanwhile, month-over-month inflation rose 0.1 percent (seasonally adjusted) from April to May. Thats down from Aprils month-over-month gain of 0.4 percent.

Mays year-over-year growth rate is down from last Junes high of 9.1 percent, which was the highest price inflation rate since 1981. The BLSs CPI inflation rate of increase has now slowed from Junes high for eleven months in a row.

Growth in CPI inflation has indeed slowed, and this reflects slowdowns in energy, gasoline, used cars, and trucks. Food prices continued to rise at levels not seen since 1989 and 1990with the exception of 2022s 40-year highs. Food prices in May were up by 6.7 percent, year over year, in May. Prices in energy overall fell 11.7 percent, year over year, with gasoline prices dropping 19.7 percent over the same period.

Shelter prices have seen some of the most robust growth in recent years, and increases have remained among the highest weve seen since the 1980s. During May, however, year-over-year growth in shelter prices slightly slowed as shelter prices increased 8.0 percent in May. Thats down from Aprils year-over-year increase of 8.1 percent and was the second month of slowing increases in shelter prices.

Lets elaborate a little bit about to expose the facts of what you do when you dont have bug spray, repellant, or any other chemical product to get rid of disgusting and annoying insects, like cockroaches. These are the ones I hate the most, because of the stench they leave behind and all the mess they can do, even ruining your electronics. I have bought the most toxic bug poison to spray my home just to make sure Im not going to have a surprise at night. It works quite well, and the residual effect lasts for months. It doesnt smell like roses, but Im used to the scent of poisonous hydrocarbon vapors anyways after so much time in gas plants. Just what I need to feel at home.

As a side note, I recommended it to my neighbor and forgot to tell him that I usually use it to fumigate and leave the house the whole weekend. (Its in the instructions anyway). The guy sprayed gladly all over the place, and went to bed, sleeping in his bedroom with air conditioning. At 2 AM, he woke up and had to go to ER in a hurry. Oh, wellhe should have read the instructions. I spray that thing and leave home for a couple of days.

Anecdotes apart, the situation with bug control is one that I believe, once the disruption of normal life as we know it is finally present, is going to kill a bunch of people. If you dont believe me, stop spraying your house for six months and go to your kitchen at night suddenly turning the lights on. The movie Joes Apartment is not 100% a joke.

Global Central Banks Are Badly Losing Their War Against Food Inflation SHTF Plan

Even though central banks all over the world have been raising interest rates in recent months, food prices just continue to go up. There are a couple of reasons why this is happening. First of all, the demand for food is very inelastic.

In other words, no matter how high or how low prices go, people are still going to need to eat. So even if the Federal Reserve sent interest rates into the stratosphere, people would still need to go to the supermarket to get food for themselves and their families. Secondly, we are facing some severe long-term supply problems. As I have detailed in previous articles, food production is being significantly hindered in a number of different ways, and that isnt going to change any time soon. There simply is not enough food to feed everyone on the planet, and supplies are only going to get tighter in the months and years ahead. No matter what central banks do, this is going to push food prices steadily higher.

But even though higher interest rates havent had much of an impact on food prices, we knew that they would dramatically affect Western economies in many other ways. Economic activity is starting to dry up all over the Western world, and as I discussed the other day, Europe has already plunged into a recession.

In addition, higher interest rates have burst the global housing bubble, and here in the United States, we have entered what will ultimately become the greatest commercial real estate crisis in our entire history.

On top of everything else, hundreds of small and mid-size banks are now struggling to survive because higher rates have blown giant black holes in their balance sheets.

New Zealand Has Officially Dipped Into Recession SHTF Plan

New Zealand has followed Germany and officially slipped into recession. The economy shrank in the first quarter, data showed on Thursday, reducing the risk the central bank would need to hike interest rates further but creating a new headwind for the governments re-election hopes.

According to a report by Reuters, gross domestic product (GDP) matched analysts expectations of a 0.1% contraction in the March quarter but was well below the Reserve Bank of New Zealands (RBNZ) forecast of 0.3% growth. Furthermore, fourth-quarter GDP was revised to a contraction of 0.7% from a decline of 0.6%.

Its clear that the New Zealand economy is losing momentum, Westpac senior economist Michael Gordon said in a note. What remains to be seen is whether things have slowed enough to put us on a path back to low and stable inflation.

Weakness in the economy was broad-based with output from half of the countrys industries contracting, according to the Statistics New Zealand data. Growth was hurt by the impact of two major cyclones and flash floods in Auckland in January and February.

Recession? Calm Before The Financial Storm? SHTF Plan

Is a recession coming? Is this the calm before the storm? JPMorgan Asset Management Global Head of Fixed Income Bob Michele said that todays economic climate calls to mind the lull seen in the 2008 financial crisis.

Michele, who manages more than $700 billion worth of assets for JPMorgan, thinks the current financial situation is pretty deceptive. In an interview, he said: This does remind me an awful lot of that March-to-June period in 2008.

A recession has been brewing for much of the year. The recent resurgence in the stock market following climbing interest rates and high-profile bank failures is being interpreted by some financial experts as a sign that a recession could be just around the corner. The coming months data could end up showing that we are now in that calm before the storm phase.

Bond Investors Say A Recession In The U.S. Is Inevitable

Im highly confident that were going to be in a recession a year from now, he added. Michele based his time assessment based on a delay caused by the COVID stimulus funds that continue to have some effect, but he still feels that there is no question where were headed.

One reason he feels confident making this prediction is that the Federal Reserves actions in the last 15 months have been their most aggressive rate increases in the past four decades. The Fed is also using quantitative tightening, and Michele says we are currently seeing moves that are normally only seen during or just before recessions. He also cited growing unemployment, dropping commodity values, an inverted yield curve and tightening credit as further signs that an economic slowdown is underway. -Natural News

Michele believes regional banks and commercial borrowers will be hit the hardest as the economy unravels. Junk-rated companies that have benefited in the past from low borrowing costs will have a hard time coming to terms with the new funding environment, and those looking for refinances for their floating-rate loans could well end up in trouble.

Selco: The Dirty Truth About Water and Sanitation When the SHTF The Organic Prepper

Note: The biggest concerns in any long-term emergency are water and sanitation because the lack of these things can cause serious illness or even death. Because water and sanitation arent nearly as glamorous as guns and gadgets, theyre often overlooked in a preparedness plan. I asked Selco some questions about these important issues in this interview. The truth about it is dirty, unpleasant, and something for which you absolutely must plan.

Once there was no more running water, how did you get drinking water?

Just like most other things (especially when it comes to non-preppers) it was a matter of levels and layers.

The tap water was going on and off for a few days before service went completely off, so people had a few bottles of drinking water stored. But of course, most of us thought everything going to be restored very soon so nobody had thought about storing big amounts of water.

When it comes to lack of water and being unprepared, the levels and layers that I am mentioning meant that you first looked and asked for tap water (clean) for drinking. Then collecting water from rooftops sounded like a good idea. Then drinking directly from the river was good if there was no other source. And then, finally, when there was no other source. you simply drink dirty water even when you were sure it is quite dirty.

It was a matter of low resources, desperation, and of course low skill levels.

Our main sources were rain and the river.

Can you tell us about your rainwater collection system?

It was not anything smart, especially in the beginning.

The gutter system normally took water from the roof through pipes into the underground collectors and sewers. When we concluded that the running water was not coming back, we simply sawed off a piece of gutter and pushed it inside the main gutter that led from the roof system (on the side of the house that looked inside the yard). Then we collected water inside a barrel.

We just used the water collecting system that was existing there already, and just cut it off at a lower point, before the water was lost and redirected the water into a barrel.

It is actually pretty amazing how much water you can collect from the roof during one summer storm. A lot.

When it comes to that system of water collecting our main problem was lack of containers, because even if there is a huge amount of water to catch from the rain, we did not have enough adequate containers for that.
