An Unacknowledged Role of Doctors: Suppressing Women Mad In America

In recent years, females have greatly surpassed males in academic performance in high school and college1. This, along with their seemingly superior social and verbal skills, should have narrowed the gender pay gap of late. Yet its stayed basically the same for the past 20 years. Women only earn 82% as much as men2, and are still vastly underrepresented in executive roles3.

Two obvious contributors to this are 1: Men in executive positions may be biased against women and thus reluctant to promote them, and 2: Women are more likely to divide their time and energy between working and caring for their kids. But there may be a third, unrecognized factor at play:

Women are 50% more likely than men to be diagnosed with mental disorders4 (which are often chronic), and 60% more likely to be diagnosed with widespread chronic pain syndromes5. Theyre thus prescribed nearly twice as many benzodiazepines6 (Xanax, Ativan, Valium, etc.) and opioids7 as men. These are sedating, so they impair performance. Theyre also addictive and are often given continuously, so theyll produce withdrawal symptoms in time that further lower productivity. Electroshock therapy, another psychiatric treatment used twice as often on women8, causes permanent memory loss9. So its also incapacitating.

A young woman crouches in distress in a corner, while a doctor's hand reaches out to her. Everything is whiteEven if women dont accept these treatments but do accept the diagnoses, then theyll likely take on the mindset that comes with them: Theyll believe that they have permanently defective brains and bodies. Hence, as their doctor advises, theyll accept their perceived limitations and thus will lower their expectations and aspirations. Their doctor may urge them to focus more on protecting their fragile mental/physical health while at work, rather than on struggling hard to get ahead. They may take more time off for medical leave and appointments. They may even...

People With Depression Use Language Differently Heres How To Spot It Healthy Holistic Living

Depression permeates every facet of a persons existence their actions, their sleep patterns, their interactions, and even their language. Both spoken and written expressions may undergo noticeable transformations, birthing what has been termed the language of depression. Powerful illustrations of this unique language can be found in the creative works of artists such as Sylvia Plath and Kurt Cobain, both of whom fought and ultimately lost their battles with depression.

Over the years, researchers have endeavored to elucidate the intricate relationship between depression and language. Thanks to advanced technologies, we are steadily inching towards a comprehensive understanding. A breakthrough study, published in Clinical Psychological Science, has discovered a particular set of words that can accurately indicate if someone is living with depression.

The Transition in Linguistic Analyses

Traditionally, linguistic analyses involved researchers manually reading and taking notes. The emergence of computerized text analysis methods has revolutionized this process, enabling the processing of vast amounts of data in mere minutes. This rapid processing can aid in the detection of linguistic traits that might escape the human eye, including the frequency of certain words and categories of words, lexical diversity, sentence length, grammatical patterns, and a host of other metrics.

Resources such as personal essays and diary entries by individuals living with depression, and even the works of acclaimed artists like Plath and Cobain, have proven to be invaluable. Spoken language samples from individuals with depression have also provided significant insights. The amassed data points towards consistent disparities in the language used by individuals with and without depression symptoms.

Language Decoded: Content

Language comprises two primary components: content and style. Content pertains to what we articulate the essence, or topic of our statements. It is unsurprising that those displaying depressive symptoms tend to use an overabundance of negative emotion words, especially negative adjectives and adverbs, like lonely, sad, or miserable.

However, the usage of pronouns is arguably more intriguing.

Those with depression symptoms tend to use noticeably more first person singular pronouns, such as me, myself, and I, and noticeably fewer second and third person pronouns, such as they, &#x201C...

The 10 Most Hazardous Cosmetic Products Articles

Editor's Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published October 24, 2018.

Unfortunately, just because it's sold over-the-counter does not mean a product is safe for you. In fact, of the nearly 13,000 chemicals used in cosmetics, only 10% have been tested for safety. While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has the authority to regulate ingredients in cosmetics and personal care products, they often do not exercise it.1

Adding insult to injury, the FDA tasks companies manufacturing and marketing cosmetics with ensuring their safety. Not only is this an obvious conflict of interest, but "neither the law nor FDA regulations require specific test to demonstrate the safety of individual products or ingredients."2

So, while cosmetic companies are responsible for substantiating safety, there are no required tests and the companies do not have to share safety data. In fact, the FDA isn't even authorized to order recalls of hazardous chemicals from the market.

Cosmetic3 companies may also fall back on a loophole in the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act,4 which allows companies to withhold information relating to "trade secrets," under which fragrances and flavor ingredients fall.5

Participating with Environmental Defense and other U.S. groups, the Breast Cancer Prevention Partners (BCPP) tested personal care products and cleaning products sold at major Canadian retailers in order to identify undisclosed fragrance ingredients.6 A lack of federal regulation in Canada and the U.S. results in an increased risk of exposure to consumers.

Your Right to Know

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a project of the BCPP, is a broad-based national coalition of nonprofit organizations whose mission it is to protect the health of consumers by securing reforms necessary to eliminate dangerous chemicals linked to adverse health effects.7

The research project was triggered by scientific literature and prior product testing indicating chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects, endocrine disruption and other adverse effects were used heavily in beauty, personal care and cleaning products.

However, despite research evidence, there continues to be a lack of legislatively mandated labeling requirements, leaving consumers uninformed of the dangers in products they bring into their homes every...

Is This Why Pediatricians Push Vaccines? Articles

In April 2023, I reported how primary care providers across the U.S. were bribed with incentive programs to coerce patients into getting the toxic COVID shot. Since there was no medical malpractice liability, doctors profited while patients risked their lives as participants in an unprecedented medical experiment, all while being lied to about the safety and effectiveness of these injections.

Even more egregiously, once the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the COVID shot for children, similar vaccination incentives were extended to pediatricians as well. As detailed in an Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid provider bulletin1 dated July 2022, doctors received $50 for each Medicaid patient aged 6 months and older, who got the experimental jab.

Pediatricians Are Financially Incentivized to Vaccinate

As it turns out, doctors have been financially incentivized to vaccinate children for a long time. According to a 1999 JAMA Pediatrics article,2 the average patient load of American pediatricians is 1,546, although the number of patients was significantly higher in less populated areas and solo practices.

Of these, 8.3% were younger than 1 year, 9.5% were 1 year old and 8.6% were 2 years old.3 That means approximately 26.4% of the average pediatricians patients were 2 years old and younger. More recent data,4 published in 2021, show 75% of pediatricians have between 1,000 and 1,800 patients and 21% have around 1,200 patients; most practices, 65%, are in the 1,000 to 1,500 range.

As shown in the 2016 provider incentive program document from Blue Cross Blue Shield below,5,6 pediatricians were getting $400 for each pediatric patient that completed all the 10 vaccinations listed 25 doses in all7 before their second birthday. (Keep in mind that incentives can vary by state. The example provided is part of Michigans Blue Cross Blue Shield Performance Recognition Program.)8

How Much Money Is at Stake?

The math from there is pretty straight-forward (although keep in mind that were dealing with presumed averages and aged statistics here). Just multiply the number of patients under age 2 times $400. Using the average statistics from 1999, if a pediatrician h...

NIH Spends $1 Billion Studying Long COVID Produces Nothing Articles

An estimated 7.5% of U.S. adults1 thats 1 in 13 have symptoms of long COVID, a term used to describe a complex disorder that persists for three or more months after contracting COVID-19. With so many affected, theres clearly an urgent need to investigate long COVID and how to treat it and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) did just that.

In February 2021, Dr. Francis Collins, NIHs former director, announced that Congress would provide the agency $1.15 billion in funding over four years to support research into the prolonged health consequences of SARS-CoV-2 infection.2

A diverse team of experts from across the agency has worked diligently over the past few weeks to identify the most pressing research questions and the areas of greatest opportunity to address this emerging public health priority, he continued. Fast forward more than two years later.

What has NIH accomplished with the money? Theres basically nothing to show for it, journalists Rachel Cohrs and Betsy Ladyzhets wrote in STAT.3

NIH Spends $1 Billion, Contributes Nothing but Confusion

An investigation by STAT and MuckRock, a nonprofit news outlet, revealed the NIHs efforts to study long COVID have done little to benefit those struggling with the disorder and havent contributed meaningful information about the condition, either. STAT reported:4

The National Institutes of Health hasnt signed up a single patient to test any potential treatments despite a clear mandate from Congress to study them. And the few trials it is planning have already drawn a firestorm of criticism, especially one intervention that experts and advocates say may actually make some patients long Covid symptoms worse.

Instead, the NIH spent the majority of its money on broader, observational research that wont directly bring relief to patients. But it still hasnt published any findings from the patients who joined that study, almost two years after it started.

Theres no sense of urgency to do more or to speed things up, either. The agency isnt asking Congress for any more funding for long Covid research, and STAT and MuckRock obtained documents showing the NIH refuses to use its own money to change course.

In other words, instead of conducting trials to pin down how to prevent and cure long COVID, NIH has spent most of its money simply watching, tracking and recording long COVID symptoms.

Man Hospitalized After Mistaking NOS Octane Booster Racing Formula For Energy Drink Healthy Holistic Living

A fascinating medical case report has brought to light an instance when a man mistook a sizable bottle of NOS Octane Booster for a regular energy drink and consumed it.

The man in question, a 54-year-old resident of Seattle, Washington, was hastily brought to the emergency department after suffering from seizures and exhibiting intense agitation. Ordinarily, these symptoms would necessitate comprehensive investigation to identify the cause, but in this particular case, the source of his ailment was glaringly evident: a bottle of NOS Octane Booster Racing Formula.

His partner reported that he consumed the substance under the false impression that it was an energy drink, the team detailed in their report.

In addition to pointing out the uncanny similarity in taste between energy drinks and the octane booster that stopped the man from recognizing his error until the seizures began, it was apparent that immediate medical attention was required. The drink, traditionally used by racing and agricultural vehicles for its anti-knock properties, contains methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT), a compound implicated in pulmonary toxicity, seizures, and renal and hepatic toxicity in animal studies.

No instances of human consumption of MMT had been reported prior to this occurrence.

Manganese can provoke irreversible Parkinsonian symptoms due to oxidative damage to the mitochondria of the basal ganglia. There is less understanding about acute manganese toxicity, but neither of the two reported cases of acute manganese poisoning in humans involved seizures or neurotoxicity, the team expounded. MMT or its metabolic derivatives have been suggested as t...

44% of Americans Now Using Biometrics Instead of Passwords to Log In to Their Accounts We are Closer to a One World Financial System Medical Kidnap

by Brian Shilhavy
Editor, Health Impact News

A new report published by the FIDO Alliance states that 44 percent of Americans are now logging in to their online accounts with biometrics, rather than a password, and more than half of Americans today, 58 percent, state that they are interested in replacing their passwords with biometric passkeys.

FIDO Alliance has published a report examining how the behavior, patterns and adoption of authentication technologies reflect the consumers readiness for passwordless technologies.

According to the report, passwords are still the most common way to access an account, but biometrics, such as a face scan or fingerprints, are preferred over all other methods by 29 percent. Only 19 percent prefer to use a password. While 44 percent say they log in to accounts with biometrics, 64 percent use passwords.

The report reveals consumer awareness and passkey demand have increased since the Fall of 2022. Fifty-eight percent of U.S. consumers are interested in passwordless technology, and 47 percent say they are somewhat familiar with passkeys.

According to the report, most customers have abandoned a shopping cart in the past six months because they forgot their password. (Source.)

The FIDO Alliance report clearly states who is pushing the adoption of biometric passkeys at the beginning of their report:

Its been a year since Apple, Google and Microsoft announced their commitment to passkeys with plans to expand support  for a common passwordless sign-in standard created by the FIDO Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium. (Source.)

Mental Health Services Must Be Prised From the Grip of Psychiatry Mad In America

From The Irish Times: To paraphrase Einstein, the definition of madness is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different outcome. Our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (Camhs) are a tragic demonstration of just that. The outcomes the Maskey Report highlight show the medicalisation of difficulties that many young people experience.

Dr Sen Maskey found unreliable diagnoses, inappropriate prescriptions and poor monitoring of treatment and potential adverse effects exposed many children unnecessarily to the risk of significant harm in South Kerry Child and Adolescent Mental Health services between July 2016 and April 2021.

The over-prescription of medication reflects not just a system that offers insufficient alternatives to drugging young people, but trenchant resistance from the psychiatry profession to adopting more collaborative and better decision-making approaches within the teams in which they work.

. . . The crisis in Camhs is not unexpected. Mental health is a multidisciplinary field where the medical model approach is now very much a minority view, and where other professions and many patient/client representative groups and indeed an increasing number of psychiatrists advocate for a very different one. Our mental health services have not evolved to reflect what we know about mental health. They have maintained the vice-grip of a medical model and are designed to protect the privilege and interests of one profession at the expense of peoples mental health. There are better ways, and we all know it.

Did Teachers Given J&J Covid Vaccine Learn Their Lesson? Age of Autism The Rebel Alliance!

Anyone FerrisGotta ask. In my Connecticut town, teachers were given the Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccine, along with 19 MILLION other Americans, according to CNN.  Teachers I'm fond of. Teachers who helped my daughters over 17 years. Teachers who are Moms, Dads, Wives, Husbands Daughters, Sons. Town Health Director Lucienne Bango ordered them and Superintendent Semmel was delighted to see hundreds of staff roll up their sleeves. Now, just two years later, the vaccine has been completely pulled from the market. What have we learned, class? We have learned that the public health and pharma used our TEACHERS as guinea pigs.  Teachers have gotten A+s in complaining about workplace issues. Where is the backlash? Crickets.

Its time to rethink fluoride in water Brenda Staudenmaier Fluoride Action Network

I am concerned about the recent spike in fluoride in the drinking water of Sun Prairie.

Accidents such as this could put thousands of residents at risk of ingesting harmful levels of fluoride, as demonstrated by a recent National Toxicology Program report.

Adding fluoride to drinking water is a risky practice that can lead to accidents such as the one in Sun Prairie. The promoted level of fluoride by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is already a controversial issue.

Fluoride is not needed in our public drinking water supply. It is alarming that DHS continues to promote this practice.

I urge our city officials to reconsider the practice of adding fluoride to our drinking water and to prioritize the health and safety of our community. Let us not wait for another accident to happen before taking action.

Critical Psychiatry Textbook, Chapter 8: Depression and Mania (Affective Disorders) (Part Four) Mad In America

Editors Note: Over the next several months, Mad in Gtzsches book, Critical Psychiatry Textbook. In this blog, he discusses how depression pills dont work for children and increase their risk of suicide. Each Monday, a new section of the book is published, and all chapters are archived here.

A bottle of blue pills overturned on a wooden table
Pills by Michael Chen on Flickr.
Depression pills dont work for children and double their risk of suicide

One of the textbooks mentioned a meta-analysis of 34 randomised trials of depression pills given to children and adolescents and claimed that fluoxetine was the only drug with a significant effect and also with the highest tolerability.19:215

Such claims belong to the section for science fiction. It is fairly impossible for a drug to be both more effective and less harmful than similar drugs from the same class. Even though this textbook had references, there were none to this implausible claim, but I believe the source can only be the 2016 network meta-analysis by Andrea Cipriani and colleagues.297

To increase the power of the analyses, the authors included both placebo-controlled trials and head-to-head comparisons, but they were not sufficiently careful. They mostly used published trial reports (only 7 of the included 34 trials were unpublished), which are substantially biased.2,7,8

As an example, statistician Hans Melander and colleagues, working for the Swedish drug agency, showed that placebo-controlled trials of SSRIs were more often published when the results were statistically significant, and that many publications ignored the results of intention-to-treat analyse...

Groundbreaking Discovery in Parkinsons Disease Biomarker Revealed Healthy Holistic Living

The Michael J Fox Foundation has made a significant disclosure with the revelation of a novel paper that confirmed the presence of a highly accurate biomarker for Parkinsons disease. This biomarker has the potential to predict the presence of the disease before standard symptoms are apparent. The identification of this biomarker marks a turning point in our understanding of Parkinsons at a biological level, thereby revolutionizing the path for diagnosis and potential treatments.

The New Era in Parkinsons Research

The Parkinsons Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI), headed by the pioneers in Parkinsons research, published this significant study. They shed light on the potential uses of the new test for early diagnosis, as well as its ability to recognize specific molecular subtypes leading to targeted treatments.

PPMI Principal Investigator and president of the Institute for Neurodegenerative Disorders, Dr. Kenneth Marek, hailed this event as a leap into a new biological era for Parkinsons research.

The new test, known as the alpha-synuclein seed amplification assay (Syn-SAA), seeks a specific biomarker that signifies synuclein pathology. Alpha-synuclein is a protein present in neurons. In certain individuals, misfolding occurs as it forms, which leads to clusters of damaged proteins or Lewy bodies. While its not explicitly clear if Lewy bodies lead to Parkinsons, they are a key indicator of the disease.

Understanding the New Test and its Implications

This test was cultivated within the framework of the PPMI and validated using the patient data enrolled in the initiative. The team carried out the Syn-SAA test on a diverse set of 1,100 individuals, including those with prior risk factors, people with and without risk genes, and more.

The results indicated an impressive 90% accuracy rate in individuals with typical Parkinsons pathology. This figure rose even further in individuals with olfactory deficits and sporadic Parkinsons without a known genetic mutation. In people not diagnosed with Parkinsons, the assay showed a 90% positive rate if they exhibited loss of smell or REM sleep behavior disorder both closely tied to the disease.

One of the intriguing revelations was the ability of the assay to spot synuclein pathology even before dopamine loss could be detected by DAT imaging one of the earliest screenings currently available for Parkinsons. Therefore, using the assay in tandem with other tests could widen the window for preventative measures.

Limitations and Future Possibilities

Although the assay shows considerable promise, its yet to be ascertained how well it will fare in detecting Parkinsons before the onset of any symptoms. The study reported a significant drop in effectiveness when individuals had no smell loss, and a more significa...

  • According to a new review, an unhealthy diet of sugars, additives, preservatives, artificial colors, and processed foods can result in the bioaccumulation of mercury and lead in children. The build-up of these metals may jeopardize some childrens ability to regulate the expression of the PON1 gene, leading to problems metabolizing and excreting neurotoxic organophosphates. The study also suggests that inorganic mercury and lead exposures from an unhealthy diet can result in elevated blood mercury and/or lead levels, which can cause children to develop ASD and ADHD symptoms. The review concludes that dietary selenium can help alleviate some of the damage caused by dietary mercury and lead exposure by supporting PON1 activity in children with ASD or ADHD.

Stop Using Dryer Sheets Immediately! Healthy Holistic Living

Dryer sheets are part of the laundry routine for millions of people. Most of us dont think twice about tossing a sheet or two into the dryer  its just part of the clean clothes process. And while pulling a warm, fresh load of scented laundry out of the dryer may make you feel warm and fuzzy, theres likely something not-so-good happening inside of your body.

What if I told you those dryer sheets are caked with ingredients you wouldnt wish on your worst enemy. And those blossoms and flowers depicted on the dryer sheet box? Dont buy it. Dryer sheets are really a toxic ripoff. That means youre paying more for a product that could actually be making you sick.

Im talking about things like known carcinogens, hazardous pollutants, endocrine disruptors and things that target specific organs in the most unpleasant ways. Lets examine what we know about dryer sheets and your health, then get into simple alternatives for a safer laundry routine.

Dryer Sheets: The Facts

Ever look at a box of dryer sheets? Youll probably see images of flowers or line-dried laundry and claims of freshness, fabric softening, static reduction and wrinkle fighting power. What you wont see? A comprehensive list of the chemical cocktail cooked into those sheets. As crazy as it seems, the current United States Consumer Product Safety Commission does not require dryer sheet manufacturers to list actual ingredients, including the chemicals used in fragrance blends.

To help us figure out whats actually in these products many people use day in and day out, scientists have been studying the sheets and dryer vent exhaust to get a better picture. The results arent pretty. Heres a rundown of some of the compounds detected in dryer sheets and dryer vent exhaust.

In one of the most interesting studies to date, pioneering fragrance researchers Anne Steinemann, PhD, a professor of civil and environmental engineering, looked at the chemicals spewing out of dryer vents. Using new, pre-rinsed organic towels, Steinemann and her team sampled laundry emissions after using scented fabric softening and dryer sheets in clean washers and dryers.

What was coming out of those vents? (And into peoples lungs?) Seven hazardous air pollutants and 25 volatile o...

Mental Health Concerns Are Prevalent in Children with Neurodevelopmental Conditions SafeMinds

Study Finds Over 1/3 of Children with NDCs Had Mental Health Needs, Females Reported Increased Internalizing Symptoms Compared to Males

Researchers from Australia recently set out to evaluate mental health concerns in children with neurodevelopmental conditions (NDCs) who were attending their first developmental assessment at a publicly-funded diagnostic assessment service. In total, their study included 232 children aged 1.9617.51 years. The authors assessed mental health concerns using the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), an assessment of behavioral and emotional difficulties. Their research showed that mental health concerns were highly prevalent in children with NDCs, with over one-third of children displaying subclinical or clinically elevated internalizing (e.g., symptoms of depression, loneliness, and anxiety), or externalizing (e.g., oppositional defiance disorder, conduct disorder, and antisocial personality disorder) behaviors. These increased rates remained even after excluding items specifically relating to neurodevelopmental concerns. Additionally, the authors discovered that more school-aged females reported elevated internalizing problems relative to males (67% vs. 48%). Children who received two or more DSM-5 diagnoses showed a greater rate of subclinical or clinically elevated scores than children who received one DSM-5 diagnosis. The authors concluded that children attending developmental assessment services have considerable mental health needs. They point out that it is critical that mental health concerns are identified and addressed in children when they first visit developmental assessment services and that clinicians become equipped to provide appropriate resources and ways to access ongoing care.

Put Aluminum Foil Balls in Your Laundry And Watch What Happens Healthy Holistic Living

Everyone is familiar with the multifarious uses of aluminum foil in the kitchen be it preserving food freshness or cooking. However, there is a less common, but highly effective use of this versatile material that could save you a lot of money using it in your laundry! Lets delve into the how and why.

Why Put Aluminum Foil Balls in Your Washing Machine?

Aluminum foil isnt just useful in the kitchen. It can be a versatile ally in your laundry routine too. If you cleverly incorporate it into your washing machine, it can make your laundry routine easier and more economical. Lets look into the specifics.

Whats the Benefit of Aluminum Foil Balls in the Washing Machine?

Theres no need to worry the aluminum wont damage your washing machine drum or your clothes. In fact, it does quite the opposite. It makes the washing process easier and more efficient. To start, make two or three balls of aluminum foil, roughly the size of a tennis ball, and put them in your washing machine. This simple step offers numerous advantages.

Neutralizing Static Electricity

Have you ever experienced a small electric shock from a fabric or found clothing clinging to your skin? This phenomenon, known as static electricity, occurs when the friction between fabrics, especially synthetic ones, facilitates the exchange of electrons. It can be further exacerbated by the negative charges of the detergents used to wash the laundry. The static issue tends to worsen in winter when the air is drier. Although static electricity isnt harmful, it can be a nuisance. The aluminum foil balls can counter this issue as they absorb electrons from fabrics, preventing static buildup.

Why Not Just Use Dryer Sheets?

Despite their ubiquitous use, dryer sheets carry hidden dangers. While the packaging often promises freshness, fabric softening, static reduction, and wrinkle-fighting properties, it doesnt detail the potential chemical hazards. Surprisingly, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission doesnt require manufacturers to list the actual ingredients used in these sheets, including the chemicals used for fragrance.

In a bid to unveil the hidden contents of these widely-used products, scientists have studied dryer sheets and dryer vent exhaust. Heres a snapshot of some alarming findings:

In a groundbreaking study, fragrance researcher Anne Steinemann, PhD, analyzed chemicals expelled from dryer vents. Using new, pre-rinsed organic towels and scented fabric softeners and dryer sheets, the team found seven hazardous air pollutants and 25 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the dryer emissions. Some of these, including acetaldehyde and benzene, are harmful even at minimal levels.

New Webinar on Microbiota Transplant for Adults with Autism from ASUs Autism/Asperger Research Program SafeMinds

Free Event Takes Place on May 24 & May 30 and Covers Results of Their New Phase 2 Clinical Trial

Professors James Adams and Rosa Krajmalnik-Brown along with Dr. Richard Frye will present the results of their Phase 2 clinical trial of Microbiota Transplant Therapy (MTT) for adults with autism in webinars on May 24 and May 30, 2023. Their exciting new two-part study was randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled for part 1. During part 2, the placebo group received a similar treatment as the original treatment group, with the treatment group receiving an extra eight weeks of microbiota transplant. The study found that MTT was generally safe and well-tolerated. Interestingly, study participants tolerated the microbiota capsules better than the placebo capsules. When the study concluded, the authors discovered that the treatment groups autism symptoms improved more than the placebo group. They also found through daily stool records that the treatment groups bowel movements improved more than the placebo group. An especially compelling finding showed that the microbiome of the treatment group became more similar to the donor, with increased beneficial bacteria. Overall, this new study suggests that MTT is effective for treating autism and GI symptoms in adults with autism and provides critical insight into improving dosing to potentially improve clinical benefit. For more information on this exciting new study, join one of the two webinars hosted by the studys authors.

The Health Impact of Cast Iron Pans: 7 Crucial Facts You Should Be Aware Of Healthy Holistic Living

For millennia, cast iron pans have been a trusted companion in kitchens worldwide. These sturdy and reliable cooking utensils boast an impressive durability. Given appropriate cleaning and maintenance, these pans can be a lifetime investment. Even those that appear old and rusted can be rejuvenated. When correctly seasoned, cast iron forms a unique non-stick surface that can be reconditioned when it begins to deteriorate. However, longevity does not necessarily mean suitability for all.

7 Crucial Insights About Cast Iron Pans

  1. Exceptional heat retention.

A cast iron pan, once heated, preserves its temperature effectively. This is particularly beneficial for maintaining foods warmth but does present a slight snag. These pans can be slow to both heat up and cool down completely. Given their weighty nature, its advisable to handle them with care.

  1. Versatility with varied heat sources.

Admirers of cast iron pans often praise their adaptability. Theyre compatible with all types of stovetops, be it gas, induction, or electric. They can even be placed directly in the oven, which is convenient for dishes that require both stovetop and oven, such as frittatas. For those who enjoy camping, these pans are also capable of cooking over an open flame like a campfire.

  1. Straightforward cleaning.

Despite their initial learning curve, cast iron pans are straightforward to clean once you get the hang of it. In some cases, they can be simpler to clean than aluminium or glass cookware, thanks to their inherent nonstick surface.

  1. Variety in size and shape to cater to your needs.

Although the most renowned cast iron cookware is the skillet, this material can be found in pots, cake pans, pizza pans, griddles, and a host of other shapes and sizes. Each of these variants shares the same features, like excellent heat retention and a nonstick surface, so recipe adjustments may be necessary if youre more accustomed to other cookware types.

  1. Cost-effective.

Cast iron cookware is generally affordable, and considering their durability, its a smart long-term investment. Thrift stores, second-hand shops, and other budget-friendly venues often sell cast iron cookware. Even rusted or older cast iron pieces can often be restored successfully.

  1. Oven-to-table convenience.

Many cast iron pans and their counterparts are aesthetically pleasing enough to be served directly in. This eliminates the need for transferring food to serving dishes and minimizes dishwashing. Restaurants often serve dishes in mini cast-iron pans, like mini pizzas, shakshouka, and even mac and cheese....

Do Not Prescribe Antidepressants for Mild to Moderate Depression or at First Visit Mad In America

In a new article in World Psychiatry, researchers suggest doctors shouldnt be so quick to hand out antidepressants. They focus on primary care, which is where most antidepressant prescriptions originate. In mild to moderate depression, they write, doctors shouldnt give antidepressants. Even in severe depression, they question whether antidepressant prescriptions should happen at the first visit.

When patients with a depressive condition first visit a general practitioner, they often get the prescription of an antidepressant. We think that it is better to prescribe medication at a later stage, if at all, they write.

The researchers were an international team led by Bruce Arroll at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and also included Pim Cuijpers at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

They write that most people who present to their primary care provider with depression will have mild to moderate symptoms. About 5% of people in a primary care office have severe depression, according to their data.

According to the researchers, studies have found that the very slight difference between antidepressants and placebo, especially for mild to moderate depression, is not clinically relevant.

What about severe depression, though? They write:

Even for patients with more severe depression seen in primary care, antidepressants may not be the best treatment at the first visit. Many of the few patients who initially present in primary care with a severe depression get better over time with or without medication.

They note that in a Cochrane review focusing on severe to very severe depression, 42% of the patients improved on placebomeaning that almost half of the people with severe to very severe depression may get better in just a few weeks without taking antidepressant drugs.

Dutch university can revoke PhD for fake data, court rules Retraction Watch

Kostadis J. Papaioannou

In 2018, a newly minted PhD made an uncomfortable discovery.

At a conference, he saw other researchers presenting the results of their attempt to replicate the work of one of his fellow students at Wageningen University in the Netherlands who had found a relationship between heavy rainfall and the number of prisoners in Nigeria in the first half of the 20th century.

But they couldnt replicate the findings.

After the presentation, the researchers discussed the discrepancy, and found that while both projects had used the same colonial records as the basis for their work, the numbers the PhD student at Wageningen University had used differed dramatically.

The discovery sparked an investigation that led to the revocation of the students degree in 2019.

The student challenged the withdrawal of his degree in court, but the Dutch Court of Gelderland sided with the university in a decision issued last month.

I think it is very important that we now have a court ruling showing a university can revoke a doctorate that was granted under false pretenses, Arthur Mol, rector magnificus of Wageningen University, said in an interview with the universitys magazine. Dutch law does not say explicitly that universities can revoke degrees, Mol said, but this case was the first time anyone had challenged their ability to do so in court.

In a similar ruling issued last month thousands of miles away, the Texas Supreme Court also decided that two state universities could revoke degrees for misconduct. In one of the cases involved in the ruling, which we have previously covered,...

From 1 in 166 to 1 in 36 With Nary A Blink Age of Autism The Rebel Alliance!

Abadnonned schoolBy Anne Dachel

Back in 2004, the autism rate was one in every 166 kids. That was pretty serious since back then, autism was still a relatively unknown condition that was just starting to make the news.

Im sure no one 20 years ago could have imagined that the autism rate would eventually become one in every 36 kids or one in every 22 in California, like it is currently.

Increases in autism are never cause for alarm.

Having more and more disabled kids is celebrated and called NEURODIVERSITY. Loss of Brain Trust keeps the tally on whats happening.

Recently I found this story from Northern Ireland,

May 18, 2023, BBC News: Autism: Highest rate on record of NI children with diagnosis

One in 20 schoolchildren in Northern Ireland has a diagnosis of autism, according to figures published by the Department of Health (DoH)

It is the highest prevalence rate on record, and more than four times as many as 15 years ago.

The department cautioned against comparing years due to changes in the way data has been collected since 2019.

It said there were 15,212 children aged 4-16 identified with autism in 2022/23. That is compared to 14,019 children in 2021/22.

In 2008/09 about 3,300 children had a diagnosis of autism, about 1.2% of the school age population.

The department said the Autism Act 2011 and an accompanying increase in awareness could be partly responsible for the rise....

About four in five of children with autism have some form of special educational needs (SEN) and more than half have a statement.

One would expect some alarm over these jaw-dropping numbers, but no, we told its something to celebrate by a school principal.

"Schools are getting really quite adept at picking up where there is neurodiversity in their classrooms," she told BBC News NI.

"There is an acknowledgement that autistic children a...

Remembering Ronnie Cummins Organic Consumers Association Articles

Ronnie Cummins, who tragically passed away April 26, 2023,1 was the undisputed leader in the regenerative food and farming movement for over two decades. During that time, we turned the tide against chemical agriculture and forced more transparency in our food systems.

Ronnie was a founding member of Health Liberty, along with Barbara Loe Fisher at the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC). We partnered back in 2011 and started the funding to gather signatures in Californias Proposition 37 to label GMOs at a time when fewer than 5% of Americans realized such a thing even existed.

Ronnie captured the essence of The Rebel Teddy Bear, a benevolent radical like we have never seen before. He was always feisty and dedicated to a clear vision and mission. We were also fortunate enough to co-author The Truth About COVID-19, which became the top-selling book on Amazon in the midst of the plandemic disaster.

Ronnie was full of humility and smiles, and was a great inspirational speaker as well as a wealth of knowledge. Ronnie said he felt tapped into a spiritual force, and could recognize and connect others he called live wires into this stream of consciousness.

That force gave him positivity even while there were battles that became repetitive and nearly impossible to overcome. Ronnie was relentless and happy and, more than anything else, he was fun and inspirational to be around. He is a legend whose legacy we can proudly carry forward.

We never took his time for granted and recognized he may have had the single most significant impact in growing the organic food movement and slowing the poisoning by the chemical agriculture industry.

If you can, please contribute to the Organic Consumers Association (OCA) or Regeneration International (RI) in his honor, and we will match any donations over the next week.

This was Dr. Mercolas and Ronnies last interview together from earlier in 2023.

Manufactured Crisis HPV, Hype and Horror Articles

Editor's Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published December 8, 2018.

The HPV vaccine Gardasil was granted European license in February 2006,1 followed by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval that same year in June.2

Gardasil was controversial in the U.S. from the beginning, with vaccine safety activists questioning the quality of the clinical trials used to fast track the vaccine to licensure.3 Merck, which manufactures and distributes the HPV vaccine Gardasil, has worked with a global health group called PATH4 to get the vaccine approved worldwide.

Lauded as a silver bullet against cervical cancer, the vaccine has since wrought havoc on the lives of young girls across the world.

"Manufactured Crisis HPV, Hype and Horror," a film by The Alliance for Natural Health, delves into the all too often ignored dark side of this unnecessary vaccine, interviewing families whose lives have been forever altered after their young daughters suffered life-threatening or lethal side effects following Gardasil vaccination. Says Barbara Loe Fisher, president and cofounder of the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC):

"The tragic story of Gardasil vaccine is one that is playing out in real time in the homes of trusting parents, who thought they were doing the right thing to try to make their daughters one less,' and in the 21st century cyberspace forum of public opinion as well as on television."

The Telomere Scam Articles

Telomeres are repetitive nucleotide sequences at the end of each chromosome. Sometimes compared to the plastic tip on a shoelace, telomeres help protect DNA, preserving chromosome stability and preventing molecular contact with neighboring chromosomes.1

Evidence suggests telomere length may predict morbidity and mortality, with shorter telomeres linked to an increased risk of premature death.2 Longer telomere length has therefore been assumed to represent health and longevity, but the link is controversial. New research suggests, in fact, that telomeres link to aging may have been wrong all along.3

Is Telomere Attrition a Hallmark of Aging?

The idea that telomere length serves as a marker of aging has become scientific dogma. Writing in the journal Cell, researchers described telomere attrition as one of the hallmarks of aging that lead to most age-related disorders.4 Telomeres, they noted, are especially vulnerable to age-related deterioration, and telomere shortening occurs during the normal aging process in humans and animals, such as mice.

When DNA damage occurs at telomeres, it leads to persistent harm and deleterious cellular effects including senescence and/or apoptosis.5

Further, the team explained, when telomerase, a key maintenance mechanism of telomere length, is deficient in humans, its associated with premature disease development, including those involving loss of regenerative capacity in tissues, such as pulmonary fibrosis, dyskeratosis congenita and aplastic anemia.6 According to the Cell study:

Genetically-modified animal models have established causal links between telomere loss, cellular senescence and organismal aging. Thus, mice with shortened or lengthened telomeres exhibit decreased or increased lifespan, respectively. Recent evidence also indicates that aging can be reverted by telomerase activation.

In particular, the premature aging of telomerase-deficient mice can be reverted when telomerase is genetically reactivated in these aged mice.

Moreover, normal physiological aging can be delayed without increasing the incidence of cancer in adult wild-type mice by pharmacological activation or systemic viral transduction of telomerase. In humans, recent meta-analyses have indicated a strong relation between short telomeres and mortality risk, particularly at younger ages.

While the American public and even some U.S. politicians have been sounding the alarm recently over the dangers of the potential future rollout of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), and the loss of all privacy in any financial transactions, a new blockchain financial network that was launched in 2019, before COVID, has been gaining momentum here in 2023 and is now being used in dozens of countries around the world with over 1.5 million users.

And it is now being launched in the United States: World ID with the Worldcoin cryptocurrency.

World ID is not some concept for the future. It is already here, and already being used around the world with the World App and Worldcoin, for both financial transactions and World ID checks.

Since its initial debut, 1.5 million people have joined the World App pre-release, more than 500,000 of which use it every month. Gatorade the Potential Harm and Healthy Alternatives Healthy Holistic Living

Gatorade is a popular sports drink that offers various beverage lines, each with its own unique characteristics. However, the ingredients found in Gatorade, such as sugars, dyes, and other additives, raise concerns about potential harm to health. Lets explore the composition of Gatorade, its drawbacks, and alternative options that promote better health.

Understanding Gatorades Ingredients

Gatorade now has many different beverage lines, including the original, Flow, Fierce, Frost, G Organic, G2 (with half the sugar), and Zero (no sugar). Aside from the varying sugar content and flavor intensity, these drinks share a similar makeup of electrolytes, flavors, dyes, and other ingredients.

Heres a breakdown of whats in a typical bottle as well as the intended purposes of these basic ingredients:

  • Water, for fluid to help hydrate
  • Sugar, for fuel
  • Dextrose, another type of sugar added for fuel
  • Citric acid, for flavor
  • Salt, for electrolyte replenishment
  • Sodium citrate, the sodium salt of citric acid to improve the flavor
  • Monopotassium phosphate, adds potassium for electrolyte replacement
  • Modified food starch, stabilizing agent
  • Natural flavor, for flavor
  • Food dyes, for color
  • Glycerol ester of rosin, stabilizing agent
  • Caramel color, food coloring, used in some products

One exception is the G Organic drinks which are certified organic and only contain seven ingredients: water, cane sugar, citric acid, natural flavor, sea salt, sodium citrate, and potassium chloride.

Concerns Regarding Food Dyes

Gatorades vibrant colors are achieved through the use of food dyes, such as Red 40 and Yellow 5. Some individuals question the safety of these dyes, fearing potential risks like cancer or hyperactivity. However, the FDA has conducted reviews and determined that the food colors used in Gatorade are safe for consumption. For those who wish to avoid artificial colors, the G Organic line offers a dye-free alternative.

These artificial colors are banned in foods for infants and children in the European Union, and they must also carry warnings on all other products there. They are also completely banned in Norway and Austria. Studies have also linked dyes to allergies, hyperactivity, aggressive tendencies and irritability in children. A British study conducted in 2007 revealed that kids who ate a combination of common synthetic dyes exhibited hyperactive behavior within one hour! Yellow 5 has been linked to several other health problems, including blurred vision, migraines, fatigue and anxiety.

With growing frequency, parents are noting a connection between their childrens behavior and their consumption of food containing synthetic dyes namely, red #3...

The Five Food Ingredients You Dont Want In Your Food Healthy Holistic Living

On April 11th, the California Assemblys Health Committee gave the green light to a bill outlawing five potentially harmful chemical food ingredients: brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate, propylparaben, Red Dye No. 3, and titanium dioxide. These substances, found in a plethora of foodstuffs like candies, cereals, and a myriad of typical grocery items in the United States, have raised health concerns, prompting this legislative move. Therefore, its vital to stay informed and examine product labels for the presence of these ingredients.

A Closer Look at the Quintet of Food Ingredients to Avoid

These five culprits have been on the negative radar for some time. European countries have already enforced bans, and now California has joined this health-conscious initiative. However, they can still be found lurking in many food products, hence the necessity of scrutinizing product labels. If detected, its recommended to return the product to the shelf and opt for healthier alternatives. (1, 2)

  1. Brominated Vegetable Oil

Often present in sports beverages, brominated vegetable oil serves as an emulsifier, which helps to merge components that usually resist unification, such as oil and water. Another unconventional use includes preventing the flame retardant in paper products from igniting. It can be spotted in approximately 70 distinct soda variants, especially those with vivid citrus flavor, as it prevents citrus essences from splitting and rising to the surface. (3)

The principal issue centers on bromine. Research indicates that bromine impacts the nervous system and may even instigate tumor development in mice. Despite the FDA stating no evidence supports that brominated vegetable oil is unsafe for human consumption, it remains a contentious ingredient due to these concerns.

  1. Potassium Bromate

Favored by bakers and brewers, potassium bromate is a chemical additive that promotes superior rise and texture in baked goods. It can be traced in numerous packaged breads, dumplings, and frozen food items. Although studies have hinted at its potential carcinogenicity, the FDA tightly controls its use, permitting just one teaspoon per 800 cups of flour in any given product. The cooking process supposedly reduces, if not eliminates, residual potassium bromate in the end product. So far, theres no evidence suggesting harmful effects in humans from the detected levels of potassium bromate in food, but the precautionary principle still motivates many to avoid it. (4, 5)

  1. Propylparaben

A popular preservative used to impede mold growth and prolong product shelf life, propylparaben is prevalent in numerous American products, from cake icing and baked desserts to corn tortillas. Its also common in water-based cosmetics. Known to induce skin irritation and alle...

High Five For Moms! Age of Autism The Rebel Alliance!

5 Kids Cathy
Note: Cathy is celebrating her daughter's COLLEGE graduation today and has the day off. How the years have flown by. Last week was Mother's Day, but today's Best of is a tribute to all Moms, written by one of the best. Our Cathy.

By Cathy Jameson

My youngest childs recent birthday marked a monumental moment for me and my husband.  We are now parents of 5 teenagers.  Five!  No wonder lifes been a bit busier than usual.

No matter their ages, though, lifes always been busy for us.  Some of the busy is good it keeps us out of the house and active in our community.  Some of the busy can sometimes be overwhelming, for both the kids and for me.  For each of us, this year has had more stressors thanks to COVID19.  Despite those stressors, well, and because of those, its been one of the most trying years ever.  When lifes been flipped upside down, especially by someone or something else, it makes it hard to move in a forward direction.  Getting to celebrate a happy birthday in the middle of one of our busiest weeks put the biggest smile of my face.  That time to pause, to focus on life, and to celebrate it (with cake!) put things into perspective for me.

Were still here.

Were still doing things.

Were still taking time to be thankful.

Being thankful for happy celebrations is easy.  Being thankful to be living in a world where the new normal is anything but normal takes effort.  When I look at whats going on in the news and hear how others are living in fear, I see a world that I dont recognize anymore.  Society seems to have lost its mind with a novel virus thats got a pretty high recovery rate.  Terrified of humans and interacting with them, Ive never seen anything like it in my life!

Life, as interrupted and upside down as it is, must go on.  My kids cant do everything they used to with some places still closed, but they can pursue living outside of other peoples comfort zones.  So they do.

Theyve participated on sports teams and excelled.

Theyve joined afterschool clubs and learned.

Theyve joined other families for get togethers and enjoyed it.

In the beginning, we all felt a little rebellious going against the hive mind.  Television doctors told us to stay home.  Politicians told us to stay home. ...

A Surprising Reason Why You May Need More Carbs in Your Diet Articles

In this interview, Georgi Dinkov and I continue our discussion about diet, diving into some of the finer details that can make or break your health. Dinkov is a student of Ray Peat, who passed away around Thanksgiving 2022, leaving behind a legacy of iconoclastic wisdom on how to optimize biological health.

For example, a ketogenic diet can be very useful initially when transitioning people who are metabolically inflexible, which is about 95% of the population of the United States. So, in the short term, the vast majority of people can benefit from going keto. However, if you continue in ketosis long term, you're going to run into problems.

Elevated Cortisol Leads to Central Obesity

As just one example, while weight loss is a typical response when going on a ketogenic diet, months later, maintaining that weight loss often becomes a struggle again. Dinkov experienced this firsthand. Once he started following Ray Peat's recommendations, he lost the weight again and kept it off.

"My take is it's an endocrine problem," Dinkov says. "So if you're struggling with weight you cannot lose, I think it's a good idea to do a blood work [panel] for the steroids Every single person that has been struggling with excessive weight that has emailed [me] their blood results, without exception, their cortisol is either high-normal or above the range, both the AM and the PM value.

Their thyroid is less than optimal, in fact, pretty bad for most people They're at the upper limit of normal. A very large number of people are basically hypothyroid I think we are eating foods that are lowering our metabolic rate. We're living an excessively stressful lifestyle.

That's probably not a surprise for anybody. Many people think, well, stress is good for you. It's good as a hormetic response in an acute situation, but not when you have chronically elevated cortisol. Every doctor will tell you if you have a chronic elevated cortisol, you will develop the so-called spectrum of Cushing syndrome

One of the defining features of elevated cortisol is that you have central obesity. So that, to me, is really the problem. We have higher than desirable levels of stress, suboptimal diet, and we're surrounded by a number of different endocrine disrupters which are now proven to reliably cause obesity in animal models, even in very small amounts. How to Save Your Life and Those You Love When Hospitalized Articles

In this interview, Laura Bartlett and Greta Crawford detail how you can protect yourself from one of the top contributors to premature death, namely conventional hospital care. The key here is to understand what the dangers are and take proactive measures to guard yourself and your family from them.

Nearly 10 years ago, I interviewed Dr. Andrew Saul, author of Hospitals and Health: Your Orthomolecular Guide to a Shorter, Safer Hospital Stay, in which he details how to minimize your risk of being a victim of a medical error.

First and foremost, Saul recommended making sure you have a patient advocate, someone who can speak on your behalf if youre incapacitated and make sure youre receiving the correct medication and treatment. During COVID, however, family or friends were not allowed into the hospital, and patients were routinely bullied into treatments they did not want or consent to.

The good news is, Bartlett and Crawford have developed a legal document that, when served to the hospital in the proper way, can ensure that your medical wishes are honored. By eliminating any confusion about your consent (or denial of consent), this document can literally save your life.

Why ProtocolKills.com Was Created

Bartlett and Crawford have founded an organization to address the lethal and, in many cases, forced treatments patients receive when theyre hospitalized for COVID-19, but the same strategy can be used to protect yourself against other medical hazards as well. Crawford explains:

I created a website called ProtocolKills.com. This came after I was in the hospital with COVID. In the process of going to the hospital, I was denied informed consent and was completely unaware of some of the things they were doing to me. I was given five rounds of remdesivir, which nearly took my life, and I did not even know that I was being poisoned at the time ...

During that time in the hospital, I went from thinking I was going to go home after I got oxygen to actually feeling like that I was going to die. I was almost certain I was going to die after being given just the first dose of remdesivir ...

[And then there was] the constant push for the vaccine in the hospital, the harassment for not getting vaxxed, and the fact that I was given medication without my knowledge at all, which led me to start the website to not only inform people about what was going on, but [as] a platform to allow other victims who were not as fortunate as me.

Many of them, the majority of them, did not make it out alive. So, it's a platform for them to share their story...

How Linoleic Acid Wrecks Your Health Articles

Editor's Note: This article is a reprint. It was originally published December 13, 2020.

In this interview, Tucker Goodrich and I discuss linoleic acid (LA), which I believe is likely the leading contributing cause of nearly all the chronic diseases we've encountered over the last century. Unfortunately, this is a topic that most clinicians and health care practitioners who focus on natural medicine have only a superficial understanding of.

If you find this topic useful it would also be good to review my newer article and video that took me three months to produce, Linoleic Acid - The Most Destructive Ingredient in Your Diet.

Goodrich has a business background as a stockbroker and asset manager, and developed an IT risk management system used by two of the largest hedge funds in the world. A string of health crises in his late 30s and early 40s prompted him to apply his research and troubleshooting skills to medical research.

As noted by Goodrich, "It was a very upsetting time in my life and medical professionals really weren't any help at all in trying to figure out what caused things." After a lot of reading and researching, he decided to cut out seed oils from his diet, and in just two days, his 16-year-long bout with irritable bowel disease started to dramatically improve.

"I started immediately feeling better," he says. He also lost a significant amount of weight over the next two months.

"Being an engineer by trade, I did a lot of experimenting. What can I eat? What brings back the symptoms? What do I have to avoid to keep the symptoms away? And it was a transformation that made everybody I worked with comment on what a difference they saw in me. It was a very quick change," he says.

Avoiding Linoleic Acid Is Key for Good Health

While considered an essential fat, when consumed in excessive amounts, which over 99% of people do, LA (an omega-6 polyunsaturated fat or PUFA) acts as a metabolic poison.

Most clinicians who value nutritional interventions to optimize health understand that vegetable oils, which are loaded with omega-6 PUFA, are something to be avoided. What most fail to appreciate is that even if you eliminate vegetable oils, you may still be missing the mark.

Chances are you're still getting too much of this dangerous fat from supposedly healthy food sources such as olive oil and chicken (which are fed LA-rich grains).

Another common mistake is to simply increase the amount of omega-3 that you eat. Many are now aware that the omega-3 to omega-6 ratio is very important, and should be about equal, but simply increasing omega-3 can be a dan...

Australias Billion-Dollar Question: Why Is Mental Health Not Improving With Better Access? Mad In America

The prevalence of mental health issues continues to rise in Australia despite the governments federal initiative to increase psychotherapy access to citizens. In their recent publication in Australian Psychiatry, researchers led by Stephen Allison suggest that psychotherapy may be ineffective or even cause deterioration in individuals with less severe mental health issues,

A comprehensive evaluation of the Australian Medicare Better Access initiative has revealed that a significant proportion of patients have experienced a deterioration in their mental health, leading researchers to question the programs overall effectiveness at the population level.

The Better Access initiative, introduced in 2006, aimed to reduce the burden of mental health conditions in Australia. By 2021, one in every ten Australians had received at least one service through the program, with one in 20 having one or more psychotherapy sessions, costing the Australian government AUD 1.2 billion. Despite this significant investment, the evaluation found that rates of psychological distress and suicide have not decreased since the programs inception.

The evaluation discovered that 2040% of patients mental health worsened during treatment. This was particularly the case for those with milder mental health conditions, while those with severe conditions were more likely to improve.

About a half of psychotherapy patients fail to improve, or their mental health deteriorates in real-world studies. Deterioration rates would be even higher in untreated populations, especially for severe conditions. Generally, deterioration is related to the underlying mental health condition or factors external to psychotherapy but is sometimes a side effect of psychotherapy, the researchers write.
If about 510% of patients deteriorate in psychotherapy, this could reduce the overall effectiveness of the Better Access initiatives at the population level.

Controversial Report on Water Fluoridation One Step Closer To Publication Fluoride Action Network

The NTPs potentially explosive report on the neurotoxicity of fluoride gets an important correction on its way to being released.

A key panel of experts in the Department of Health and Human Services National Toxicology Program has voted to strike out an error in a pivotal and controversial report on the effects of water fluoridation on human intelligence.

The National Toxicology Programs (NTP) Board of Scientific Counselors (BSC) voted unanimously in a meeting on May 16th to remove text related to an IQ statistic that suggested fluoride was linked to a .46 drop in IQ related to water fluoridation.

In fact, the drop calculated was closer to 7 points which is significant given that a 5-point decrease in a populations IQ would nearly double the number of people classified as intellectually disabled.

The BSC working group found that they had in fact misinterpreted the IQ statistic. In correcting the error, they also move the draft report toward its much anticipated final publication.

The report, titled the NTP Monograph on the State of the Science Concerning Fluoride Exposure and Neurodevelopmental and Cognitive Health Effects: A Systematic Review, has been an ongoing source of controversy due to its potentially explosive findings and delays in its release. It is also a pivotal piece of evidence in the ongoing lawsuit brought against the EPA by the Fluoride Action Network to ban fluoride from the public drinking water supply.

The lawsuit was put on hold for over two years awaiting the release and finalization of the report and internal...
