Why We Love this Outdoor Chaise Lounge

I had originally built this project for a rental property, but it turned out so well, we just had to keep it for ourselves.  It's such a versatile piece.  Here's why we love it:

  • NO moving parts, so it's less things to break and maintain.  Instead of a reclining back, the base is long enough to be a bed on it's own.  Simply arrange pillows for the perfect back support.
  • Versatile - can work as an outdoor sofa or sectional too!
  • Easy to build
  • Simple style works with most other pieces
  • Can be stained or painted a variety of colors

What Did You Use for a Cushion?

For the cushion I used a foam cot mattress measuring 30" x 75" - I bought mine at Fred Meyer (a Kroger Chain store similar to Walmart).  The foam should drain water through.  There are lots of options on Amazon to buy a "cot sized mattress".

I then added a layer of outdoor batting to the top, and sewed a cushion cover.  Here is a good tutorial for sewing a box cushion cover (I am not an expert a sewing, so will defer you to someone who is).

Other Options for Cushions

This plan is easily adaptable to work with different sized cushions.  Here's a few options to consider:

  • Twin Mattress - foam, waterproof or use a waterproof cover.  Can use a twin daybed cover or twin fitted sheet - spray with waterproofing fabric spray to protect it (Scotchguard).
  • Three Deep Seat Cushions - Deep seat cushions are a great choice and will already come covered.  Some may even come with pillows.  Measure the size of the cushions and adjust the cuts accordingly.

EPA accused of failing to regulate use of toxic herbicides despite court order "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The US Environmental Protection Agency has in effect ignored a 2020 federal court order prohibiting the use of Monsanto and other producers' toxic dicamba-based herbicides that are destroying millions of acres of cropland, harming endangered species and increasing cancer risks for farmers, new fillings in the lawsuit charge. Instead of permanently yanking the products from the market after the 2020 order, the EPA only required industry to add further application instructions to the herbicides' labels before reapproving the products. A late 2021 EPA investigation found the same problems persist even with new directions added to the label, but the agency still allows Monsanto, BASF and other producers to continue using dicamba. The EPA's pesticide office is included in allegations that career managers are influenced by or have colluded with industry, and in some cases falsified science to make dangerous substances appear less toxic. About one-third of the pesticide office's funding comes from industry fees. The agency in 2016 approved the dicamba-based herbicide developed by Monsanto, which was to be used on genetically modified soybean and cotton crops. The herbicide can damage or kill neighboring crops and plants that are not engineered to be dicamba-resistant. The results are "devastating" and destroying millions of acres as "as never before seen in the history of US agriculture", the plaintiffs said. In some cases, direct dicamba exposure can kill insects, mammals and other animals.

Less Than a Third of Heavily Advertised Drugs have 'High Therapeutic Value': Study as reported by US News and World Report "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Television ads for drugs are filled with glowing images of people living their best lives, all thanks to that new med they've been prescribed. But drugs being touted on TV often have little to no benefit compared to other treatments, a new study published online Jan. 13 in JAMA Network Open finds. Fewer than one-third of drugs commonly advertised in the United States are highly rated first-line therapies, based on regulatory reviews from three different health agencies, the researchers said. Further, medications categorized as "low benefit" accounted for nearly $16 billion of the $22 billion in TV ad spending during the six-year study period, the results showed. "Proponents of direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical advertising often argue that these ads have high public health value by encouraging uptake of the most therapeutically beneficial therapies. Our study pushes back against this argument," said lead researcher Neeraj Patel. "The U.S. is one of only two high-income countries in the world that widely permits direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs," Patel said. "And there's been a ton of empirical research over the past two decades that has suggested that this type of advertising can be misleading, lead to inappropriate prescribing, and inflate health care costs." In the meantime, people should have frank discussions with their doctor about any drug that's caught their eye on TV, focusing on the real risks and benefits, Patel said.

The pharmaceutical industry finances about 75 percent of the [FDA]'s drug division "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Every five years, top officials of the Food and Drug Administration go behind closed doors to negotiate the terms of its core budget about $3 billion this year. But the F.D.A. is not at the table with members of Congress or with White House officials. Instead, it's in dozens of meetings with representatives of the giant pharmaceutical companies whose products the agency regulates. The negotiations are a piece of the "user fee" program in which drug, device and biotech companies make payments to the agency partly to seek product approvals. The fees ... make up nearly half of the F.D.A.'s budget, financing 6,500 jobs at the agency. The pharmaceutical industry funding alone has become so dominant that last year it accounted for three-quarters or $1.1 billion of the agency's drug division budget. Advocates for patients and doctors say the agreements have enabled the industry to weaken the approval process meant to ensure that drugs are safe and effective. "It's kind of like a devil's bargain," said Dr. Joseph Ross, a professor at the Yale School of Medicine who has studied F.D.A. policies, "that I think is not in the best interest of the agency, because it turns this every-five-year cycle into the F.D.A. essentially asking industry, 'What can we do to secure this money?'" Senator Bernie Sanders ... suggested that the pharmaceutical companies' tendency to charge "outrageous" prices was related to their significant role in funding and advancing policy goals of the F.D.A.'s drug division.

Does Direct-to-Consumer Advertising Directly Harm Patients? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Researchers from Johns Hopkins University recently published an article in JAMA that highlights rising concern around the effects of direct-to-consumer advertising (DTC) on health care. Their work shows that DTC advertising might have direct harm on patients. They studied drug characteristics and total advertising expenditures for the 150 top-selling branded prescription drugs in the United States, finding that total promotional spending by the manufacturer was associated with a significantly lower added clinical benefit for the drug. In fact, companies spent nearly 15% more on DTC advertising for drugs that had demonstrated lower added benefit. Even more troubling, each 1.5% increase in spending was associated with a 10% increase in sales. Simply put, pharmaceutical companies spent more money on DTC advertising when medical research found that the drug was less effective, and this spending directly led to more sales for those inferior drugs. The U.S. is one of only two countries in the world that still allows direct-to-consumer advertising. Aside from increased pressure on providers to prescribe particular drugs which may not be the best option, there are other downsides to DTC. The data show that DTC advertising leads to increased drug costs overall, adding to the already skyrocketing costs of medical care in America. Additionally, DTC advertising tends to reduce use of generic medications, which are often equally effective but significantly cheaper for patients.

Fighting giants: eco-activist Vandana Shiva on her battle against GM multinationals "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

For almost five decades, [Dr. Vandana] Shiva has been deeply engaged in the fight for environmental justice in India. Regarded as one of the world's most formidable environmentalists, she has worked to save forests, shut down polluting mines, exposed the dangers of pesticides, spurred on the global campaign for organic farming, championed ecofeminism and gone up against powerful giant chemical corporations. Her battle to protect the world's seeds in their natural form rather than genetically altered and commercially controlled versions continues to be her life's work. "I couldn't understand why were we told that new technology brings progress, but everywhere I looked, local people were getting poorer and landscapes were being devastated as soon as this development or new technology came in," she says. "No one was stopping to ask: what will be the impact on the environment? What will this cost the farmers? They only wanted to win the race and control all the world's seeds." Currently more than 60% of the world's' commercial seeds are sold by just four companies, which have led the push to patent seeds, orchestrated a global monopoly of certain [genetically modified] crops such as cotton and soya and sued hundreds of small-scale farmers for saving seeds from commercial crops. Shiva considers her most important work to be her travels through India's villages, collecting and saving seeds ... setting up more than 100 seed banks, and helping farmers return to organic methods.

Note: The Seeds of Vandana Shiva is an excellent documentary that reveals the remarkable life story of Dr. Shiva, her significant influence in creating an international food justice movement, and how she stood up to the big players of industrial agriculture. Avalanche (AVAX) Trading Volume Skyrockets Amid Sustained Price Growth "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Avalanche (AVAX) is gaining today as it seeks to retain its gains in the last 24 hours. Its trading volume is up by over 18% today, possibly sustaining its price recovery attempt.

Notably, AVAX entered the month of May with a bullish momentum trading at $16.66 on May 1, 2023. However, the bears have kept AVAXs price at $14 since May 18.

It now approaches the $15 price level seeking to rediscover its positive price form. The increased trading volume today implies that more activities are ongoing on the network.

This surging interest in the network might help AVAX sustain its uptrend.  A return to $21 remains likely for the asset in the long term.

AVAX Price Moves

AVAX is gaining today, forming a higher high on the daily chart. The bulls are intent on mounting a recovery rally. However, the bears are still active in the market.

Related Reading: How Does Current Bitcoin Rally Compare With Historical Ones?

Since AVAX still trades below its 50-day and 200-day Simple Moving Averages (SMA), the asset will likely see a further price decline in the short and long term. The SMAs display sell signals prompting traders to take short positions in the market today.

However, some indicators are pointing to a price recovery for AVAX soon. For instance, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) is 38.53 and close to the oversold region.

The RSI indicator mirrors the bearish trend that began on May 18, 2023, but the indicator is moving upwards, hinting at a potential trend reversal for the asset.

Although the AVAXs Moving Average Convergence/Divergence (MACD) is just breaking above its signal line and showing convergence, its histogram bars display small green bars hinting at a potential trend reversal to the upside.

A close look at the chart structure shows that AVAX entered a downtrend on April 19, 2023. But it found support on May 22, sparking hope for a price recovery.

Whats Ahead For Avalanche?

AVAX has found valuable support at the $14.29 price level, a pivot point for the asset. It is currently trading above its closest resistance level of $14.29. However, the bears are still active in the market, intent on keeping it below the next resistance level of $15.21.

Called the Sheep to Shawl challenge, the teams consist of one sheep and five people. The humans have three hours to shear the sheep, card the wool, spin it into yarn, and then weave it into a shawlall with the objective of creating an award-winning wrap.</p> <p>Every team member has a job. One person shears the sheep, and then three people spin it into yarn and finally, one person creates the weaving (aka the final product). The handspun shawls are auctioned off after the competition.</p> <p>The preparation for Sheep to Shawl begins months in advance and starts with finding the right sheep. Competitors dont want the animal to be too greasy because the wool is going straight from the sheep to spinning, its not processed. It still has lanolin in it, which is akin to wax, and it makes it more difficult to spin the wool into yarn. Prepping the looms for weaving can also take as long as seven hours.</p> <p>Sheep to Shawl judges look at more than just the final product. Their scoring system evaluates things including the sheep's appearance after shearing, the uniformity of the spun yarn, and if there's an even selvage (finished edge) on the wrap. Single Wallet Destroys 1.2 Billion SHIB, Burn Rate Surges Over 2,000% "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

In a display of token destruction, a single wallet has set the Shiba Inu (SHIB) community ablaze by destroying a significant amount of SHIB tokens. According to data from the Shiba Inu burn tracker, Shibburn, the Shiba Inu burn rate is currently up by 2,372% in the past 24 hours due to the burn from one single wallet.

The burn has not only surged the SHIB burn rate but can also be attributed to the current spike in Shiba Inu which is up by more than 2% in the last 24 hours.

Shiba Inu Burn Rate Surges

According to data from Shibburn, over the past 24 hours, the Shiba Inu community has transferred roughly 1.24 billion SHIB to a designated dead wallet, forever removing these tokens from circulation. A single wallet burned approximately 1.23 billion SHIB tokens in the past 24 hours.

Related Reading: Shiba Inu All Green Today Whats The Energy Behind The Glow?

Notably, the identity behind the wallet which burned this huge amount of tokens has been revealed to be the Blaze token team. Out of all the SHIB tokens burned in the last 24 hours, Blaze Token burned a total of 1.23 billion tokens.

Executed approximately 12 hours ago, this colossal burn event has now propelled Blaze Tokens number of burned SHIB to about 7.9 billion in total.

While the recent burn event might have triggered a portion of excitement in the SHIB community, it is worth noting that more is still to come especially with the launch of the Shibarium.

Shibarium is an underlying blockchain technology that plays a crucial role in facilitating the burn mechanism of Shiba Inu. According to the blockchain developers in a recent series of tweets, each transaction on the Shibarium network would result in a burn of the Shiba Inu (SHIB) token.

SHIB Records Upward Momentum

Following the significant burn, the SHIB token price has picked up an upward momentum in the past 24 hours. Over this period, SHIB has surged by more than 2%. The meme coin currently trades at $0.00000905 up from a low of $0.00000885 on Monday.

How To Figure Out If You Should Start Mining Bitcoin "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This is an opinion editorial by Keaton Reckard, the community engineer at Hiveon, a mining ecosystem that includes an operating system for Bitcoin mining hardware.

Bitcoin mining refers to the process through which new bitcoin is introduced into circulation. The mining process plays a crucial role in confirming new transactions and maintaining the Bitcoin blockchain ledger as an immutable record of transactions. In essence, miners use ASIC hardware to solve complex computational problems, with the first one to find the solution earning a reward of bitcoin before the cycle restarts.

Though Bitcoin mining can be time-consuming, expensive and can yield inconsistent rewards depending on price volatility, it still holds a strong allure for investors drawn to the idea of earning bitcoin as compensation for their efforts. For tech-savvy individuals and hobbyists, mining can be an intriguing opportunity for many different reasons.

As opposed to traditional investment assets, such as standard bank deposits, real estate property or stocks, bitcoin can offer much higher returns. Its an environmentally-conscious business that can prevent energy waste by utilizing excess energy, such as the natural gas that gets burned during oil extraction, idle wind turbines and surplus energy from hydroelectric or nuclear power plants.

Hiveons long-term predictions are that bitcoins value will rise after the halving (more on that below), so were accumulating coins now to multiply that money into the future. We also believe that, in the future, an alternative global financial system based on blockchain technology like Bitcoins will be dominant, and network validators will be able to make money from processing transactions.

But with mining difficulty and hash rate continuously hitting new highs and fees surging, many may wonder if the practice is still worth investing in.

Is Mining Bitcoin Worth It?

To determine if Bitcoining mining will be worth it for them, equipment, prospective miners should conduct cost-benefit analyses to determine their break-even points. Factors to consider include power costs, hardware costs and efficiency, time and the market value of bitcoin. You can choose to factor in the current BTC price ($28,190 at the time of writing) or, attempt to extrapolate where you believe the price of BTC will be in the future.

Power Costs

At the time of this writing, Bitcoin mining can be profitable for individuals who pay $0.10 or less per kilowatt hour (kWh) of pow...

Litecoins MVRV Has Surged, Why This Is Bearish "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

<p>On-chain data shows the Litecoin MVRV has been at relatively high levels recently, something that could be bearish for the cryptocurrency.</p> <h2>Both 30-Day & 365-Day Litecoin MVRV Ratios Are High Currently

According to data from the on-chain analytics firm Santiment, LTC traders are well above water at the moment. The <a href= "https://www.newsbtc.com/news/bitcoin/bitcoin-mvrv-ratio-approaches-1-5-break-happen/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">MVRV ratio</a> is an indicator that measures the ratio between the two main capitalization models for Litecoin: the market cap and the realized cap.</p> <p>The market cap here is the usual cap that calculates the total value of the asset by simply taking the value of each coin in the circulating supply the same as the current spot price.</p> <p>The <a href= "https://www.newsbtc.com/news/bitcoin/bitcoin-long-term-holders-own-80-realized-cap/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">realized cap</a>, however, is a more special model as it assumes that the actual value of any coin in circulation is the price at which it was last transacted on the blockchain.</p> <p>Since this model aims to estimate a sort of true value for Litecoin, its comparison with the market cap (that is, the spot price) in the MVRV can tell us whether the assets price is fair or not right now.</p> <p>When the MVRV has a value greater than 1, it means the market cap is above the realized cap currently. During such times, the average investor is in a state of profit, so the incentive to sell for them increases. As such, the cryptocurrency could be considered overpriced in these conditions.</p> <p>On the other hand,  the indicator having a value lower than this threshold implies the average holder is in a loss, and hence, the asset may be undervalued currently.</p> <p>Now, here is a chart that shows the trend in the 30-day and 365-day moving averages (MAs) of the Litecoin MVRV ratio over the last few months:</p> <p><img alt="Litecoin MVRV ratio" class="alignnone aligncenter" height="1659" src= "https://production-sanbase-images.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/9a42511587f80084e842466639418d7830ddb2d875b0893a47320b6859f3a3e1_1684805559854_Screenshot%202023-05-22%20181314.png" width="3267"></p> <p>As displayed in the above graph, both the 30-day and 365-day MAs of Litecoin MVRV have risen above the baseline with the recent surge in the price beyond the $90 level. This may mean that the cryptocurrency could have become slightly overpriced.</p> <p>Prior to this surge, when indicator had temporarily entered into the undervalued region. Shiba Inu All Green Today Whats The Energy Behind The Glow? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Shiba Inu (SHIB) enthusiasts have been eagerly monitoring the cryptocurrencys price movements as it approaches a critical juncture. After a period of consolidation, the Shiba Inu price has finally reached the support line of a long-term pattern, igniting hopes of a potential bounce.

However, investors remain cautiously optimistic, aware that the validity of this anticipated rebound has yet to be confirmed. Nevertheless, what factors are fueling SHIBs momentum for this potential rebound?

Driving Force Behind SHIBs Potential Bounce

Technical analysis plays a crucial role in understanding the potential drivers behind price movements in the cryptocurrency market. In the case of Shiba Inu (SHIB), the formation of a triangle pattern since June 2022 has captured the attention of traders and investors alike. This pattern is characterized by converging trendlines, with the current price position at a critical juncture, presenting the possibility of either a breakthrough or a retreat.

The significance of this triangle pattern cannot be understated. A breakdown from the triangle would not only put the current support line at risk but also invalidate the year-long support structure that has provided stability to SHIB holders. Such a development would introduce a new level of uncertainty and potentially dampen investor sentiment.

However, recent price movements have shown some encouraging signs for SHIB enthusiasts. On May 8, the...

Woman Loses $8 Million In Crypto Scam, But Court Says Binance Is Not Liable "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

A United States District Judge, Amos Mazzant, has ruled that Binance, the worlds largest cryptocurrency exchange by client count, is not liable for the loss incurred by a Texan woman named Divya Gadasalli who lost $8 million in a pig butchering scheme.

Binance Is Not Liable

In a ruling on May 22, Judge Amos dismissed the lawsuit that Gadasalli had brought forward in which she claimed that Binance aided the scammer steal $8 million in a scheme hatched on Tinder, a dating app.

Binance filed for the case to be dismissed at the United States Easter District Court of Texas, saying the plaintiff had failed to state a claim. Moreover, Binance lawyers say there was a lack of personal jurisdiction and this request was made in June 2022.

The ruling on May 22, Judge Amos said, complied with Federal rules that require a court to dismiss a claim should there be no personal jurisdiction over the defendant, in this case, Binance.

In law, personal jurisdiction empowers the court to hear a case, regardless of the subject matter. And afterward, they can make a ruling.

Despite Binances position that there is no personal jurisdiction, Gadasallis lawyers wanted the court to investigate the relationship between Binance and Binance US.

Court filings show that Gadasalli had been scammed off $8 million after being promised romance and financial prosperity in a pig butchering scam.

In a pig butchering scam, the victim engages in a well-orchestrated fraud where romance is used as bait for active investment in non-existent cryptocurrency schemes. Court data shows that the fraudulent scheme was devised by three defendants, Jerry Bulasa, Dong Lian, and Danyun Lin.

Gadasalli met Bulasa on Tinder and believed she had struck a romantic connection. Eventually, the victim ended up investing in the direction of Bulasa, whom she thought was a successful cryptocurrency investor.

Bulasa later informed Gadasalli that their crypto investment stood at $10 million, but she couldnt withdraw any assets. This frustration and realization that she was down $8 million made her file a lawsuit against Bulasa and Binance.

Watch Ben Kingsley Play Salvador Dal in the Trailer for the New Film, Dalland "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

By itself, the prospect of seeing Sir Ben Kingsley play Salvador Dal would be enough to get more than a few moviegoers into the theater (or onto their couches, streaming). But then, so would the prospect of seeing him play practically anyone: Mahatma Gandhi (as the Academy acknowledged), or Georges Mlis, or Dmitri Shostakovich, or a foulmouthed London gang enforcer. Dalland, which comes out next month, promises a rich portrayal of Dal not just by Kingsley, but by also Ezra Miller, an actor possessed of a physical resemblance to the artist in his youth as well as a public life seen as scandalous and occasionally criminal.

This choice of casting, with the troubled Miller playing the young Dal and the ultra-respectable Kingsley playing the old, reflects a certain intent to capture the duality of the character himself. Kingsley has spoken of developing his interpretation of Dal based on his language; his behavior; his taste in love, life, food, wine, and everything; and also his daring to break so many rules.

Former MicroStrategy CEO Says Bitcoin Rally Just Getting Started "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

MicroStrategy is a business intelligence firm and one of the biggest holders of Bitcoin, the worlds most valuable cryptocurrency by market capitalization. And Michael Saylor, the former CEO of MicroStrategy, believes the cryptocurrency market is bottoming, and a Bitcoin rally is on the horizon.

Regulation, Halving, And Ordinals Are Drivers

In the interview, Saylor points out several tailwinds that may drive BTC to new 2023 highs. Specifically, he talks about regulations and how BTC is safe, considering the favorable classification from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), two of the top regulators in the country. Their officials classify Bitcoin as a commodity with utility and not an unregistered security.

Saylor opines that other assets besides Bitcoin have a black cloud hanging over them and could be regulated out of existence. Consequently, he continued, capital will most likely flow from altcoins to BTC.

I think the crypto tokens and securities will be regulated, perhaps out of existence. Bitcoin is the most secure network. Its the most secure asset. Everything else has got a black cloud hanging over it. You will see a consistent flow of capital from the rest of the crypto ecosystem into Bitcoin.

Besides regulation, he thinks the upcoming BTC halving event could propel prices higher. In 2024, the Bitcoin network will halve miner rewards from the current 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC.

This development will be a supply shock on the network, making BTC scarcer and more valuable. Though miner revenue might drop, past halving events have led to significant price gains. This pattern may be replicated next year.

Even though Ordinals has been blamed for bloating the network, Saylor remains bullish about the service and that it will propel the digital asset toward new highs. Ordinals is a platform allowing users to attach files, such as texts and videos, to Satoshis, effectively storing them on-chain. A satoshi is the smallest unit of BTC.

Bitcoin Bull Run Incoming

Talking to CNBC, Saylor, a Bitcoin permabull, thinks the recent firmness of the coin could be the start of a bull run that could push it to new 2023 highs.

BTC has been consolidating, failing to convincingly close above the $28,000 resistance level. For the better part of May 2023, prices have been edging lower, moving from around the $31,000 level recorded in late April 2023. Since April, the coin has dropped by around 10%, falling to as low as $25,800 last week.

Ethereum: Experts Predict Imminent Bull Run Toward $1,900 "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, appears to be on the verge of a potential reversal.

Technical analysis shows a compelling case for Ethereums potential reversal toward the $1,900 mark. The coin has shown signs of finding support at its current levels, and with mounting buying pressure, a bullish trend could be on the horizon.

As the crypto market continues to evolve, all eyes are now on Ethereum and its potential reversal.

Decreasing Volatility, Trading Volume Indicate Potential Reversal For Ethereum

Ethereums price charts reveal a notable decline in volatility, indicating a potential shift in market sentiment. Volatility, which measures the frequency and magnitude of price fluctuations, is on the decline, suggesting that the bearish sentiment surrounding Ethereum may be losing steam.

This drop in volatility often precedes trend reversals and signifies a market that is maturing and finding consensus among investors.

Accompanying the decreasing volatility, Ethereum has also experienced a decline in trading volume, a crucial indicator of market activity and investor interest. The reduced trading volume is significant as it signifies a decrease in selling pressure, creating an environment conducive to potential price spikes.

For Ethereum, the diminishing trading volume sets the stage for a bullish reversal and hints at the possibility of an upward price surge.

Amidst these positive indicators, Ethereum continues to ride the wave of success, with CoinGecko reporting an impressive price of $1,862, reflecting a remarkable 3.1% rally in the past 24 hours alone. Furthermore, the cryptocurrency demonstrates a promising seven-day increase of 2.8%, adding to its growing momentum.

The Daily Art challenge "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

 The Daily Art Challenge

I'm not even sure why I feel compelled to create a daily art challenge, and in my head it somehow feels like the right thing to do.  Will I be able to create an art work daily?  I pretty much doubt it, but today, as the sun is shining in Melbourne I am confident that I just might be able to create 365 art works.  One a day.

Today I explored Joy Hester, and feel somewhat inspired to the challenge.  Hester did not impose such a challenge on herself, but the verve of her works has made me want to do this.   I have always admired her work for the energy, power and enigma that is ever so present in every one of her strokes.  I like that the works are created impulsively and quickly which in some ways does not allow room for too much thinking, as a result Hester's works have a lightness of being that are weighted with her psychology and at times cruel events of her life.

I don't have a favourite art work of hers, but the way she depicts eyes, hair, heads that are contorted at an angle, delve at every instant into the psyche of her subject.  It is pure emotion; an expression only founded by her strokes and materials.

Lovers II, 1956, brush and ink, watercolour-Joy Hester.

The eyes say so much, contentment and bliss and a comfort only known to lovers.  The tilt of the head could be designed as a response to ecstasy.  The male is behind her, obscured.  She is at the forefront, and the audience connects with her first.

These Top 5 Cryptos Are Seen Making Big Moves This Week "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The top 5 cryptos are treading cautiously as Bitcoin enters its narrowest trading range, reminiscent of July 2020 prices, according to Glassnode. Consolidating within its tightest seven-day range in three years, Bitcoins movement indicates an imminent significant shift in the days ahead.

Amidst the cautious sentiment in the broader financial market following a recent debt ceiling meeting, which has prompted bearishness, there is a possibility that the bearish trend affecting Bitcoin could extend to the crypto market in the medium to long term. However, these top 5 cryptos hold the potential to shield against significant downside risks and offer investors profitable returns once bullish sentiment returns to the markets.

Top 5 Cryptos Expected To Make Big Moves In Coming Days

Litecoin Price Prediction: LTC Could Surge 10% If It Clears This Resistance "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Litecoin price is attempting an upside break above $93 against the US Dollar. LTC could rally if it clears the $93 and $95 resistance levels.

  • Litecoin is slowly moving higher toward $95 against the US Dollar.
  • The price is now trading above $90 and the 100 simple moving average (4 hours).
  • There is a key contracting triangle forming with resistance near $92.50 on the 4-hour chart of the LTC/USD pair (data feed from Kraken).
  • The price could rally toward the $100 and $105 levels.

Litecoin Price Eyes Upside Break

After a steady increase, Litecoins price struggled near the $95 resistance against the US Dollar. LTC price started a downside correction and traded below the $92 level.

The price tested the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the upward move from the $5.26 swing low to the $95.00 high. However, the bulls seem to be protecting a downside break, unlike Bitcoin and Ethereum. Litecoin is now consolidating above the $90 level.

It is trading above $90 and the 100 simple moving average (4 hours). There is also a key contracting triangle forming with resistance near $92.50 on the 4-hour chart of the LTC/USD pair.

Litecoin Price Prediction

Source: LTCUSD on TradingView.com

On the upside, immediate resistance is near the $93 zone. The next major resistance is near the $95 level. If there is a clear break above the $95 resistance, the price could start another strong increase. In the stated case, the price is likely to continue higher toward the $100 and $105 levels. Any more gains might send LTCs price toward the $112 resistance zone.

Fresh Decline in LTC?

If Litecoin price fails to clear the $95 resistance level, there could be a fresh decline. Initial support on the downside is near the $91 level and the triangle l...

Cobra Update: Situation Update and Cobra Conference in Japan 21st May 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The Light Forces are making good progress with clearing of the etheric plane, and some good news regarding that are expected soon. Clearing of the subquantum anomaly is also progressing to a certain degree. Physical biochips are much more problematic, at least a this point. They are the main tool of surveillance through which the Chimera controls the surface population: Those biochips would detect any physical intervention of the Light Forces on the surface. The contacted individual would first be very happy, but his increased vibrational frequency together with the video/audio feed from the biochip would alert the Chimera mainframe computer in the DARPA pit. Immediate action would be taken to decrease the vibrational frequency of the contacted individual, either by removing that individual through DEW electroplasma induced heart attack, by orchestrating a car accident, by removing the loved ones of that particular individual, or by any similar means. This is one of the main reasons why the Light Forces are not contacting individuals on the surface. The other reason is asymmetric retaliation. If one Lightwerkers would be contacted, the dark forces are threatening to harm or even kill thousands others. If non-physical contact is made, or if a certain individual raises his vibrational frequency too much, the physical biochip detects that also, and automatically lowers the vibration of the individual by inducing electroshocks through the navel biochip. The navel biochip is capable of producing electroshocks between 20 and 130 volts, depending on the circumstances. At the same time, the two biochips in the frontal lobe of the brain produce strong magnetic fields that produce sleepiness, brain fog and confusion. Thus physical biochips represent a very efficient slave driver mechanism...

Shiba Inu Burn Rate Spikes After A Few Stagnant Days "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

After a few days of stagnation, the Shiba Inu community seems to have picked up its token-burning mechanism.

A report from Shiba Inus token burn aggregator, Shibburn, indicates that the SHIB Army has significantly raised the burning rates within the past 24 hours. The data showed that the community destroyed 50.18 million SHIB tokens in 24 hours.

SHIB Burn Rate Picks Up After Some Days Of Decline

The SHIB burn rate surged 8,627% over the past 24 hours compared to the previous day. The burning process was completed through two transfers: the burn of 39,511,911 and 10,676,779 SHIB tokens.

Cumulatively, the community moved about 3.09 billion SHIB tokens to the dead wallet within the past week. As of Saturday, May 20, the Shiba Inu burn rate for the week showed a surge of 666% for the past week.

Further, the Shiburn website shows the Shiba Inu community collectively destroyed 410,642,087,431,967 SHIB tokens. Currently, the meme coin has about 574,308,140,003,340 SHIB coins as its total circulating supply.

Shibarium Token Burn Details Excites The SHIB Army

The layer 2 solution network of Shiba Inu, Shibarium, has made tremendous progress while still in the beta-test phase. The Shiba Inu team, under the leadership of the pseudonymous Shytoshi Kusama, disclosed the SHIB burning mechanism on Shibarium.

According to details, fees for all transactions completed on Shibarium are paid in BONE. The basic fees for all transactions are locked on a contract on the network, while the validators will get priority fees.

The network will set aside a total of 30% of the fees for maintenance purposes. However, it will burn the remaining 70% of the fees.

A Twitter user, SHIB INFORMER, shared a screenshot of Shariums interface of the networks token burning mechanism.

Users can initiate a burning process if the locked BONE exceeds 10 BONE. The network will automatically convert the locked tokens to SHIB coins and transfer them to the protocols dead wallet.

SHIB Price Gains, Increasing Whale Activities

At the time of writing, Shiba Inu is trading at $0.00000890, indicating an increase of 1.46% over the past 24 hours.

Whats the Scariest Movie Youve Ever Seen? People Responded. "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

I cant wait to read the responses to this question!

As a huge horror movie nerd, I feel like Ive seen most of the really scary movies out there, but Im pretty confident that the fine folks on AskReddit will be able to recommend some good ones that Ive missed.

So lets see what these folks think are the scariest movies theyve ever seen!

Eek!

From the 1980s.

The Day After

I watched it when I was a kid and it absolutely terrified me. When it originally aired, ABC had to set up phone hotline with counsellors standing by.

Its one of the scariest depictions of nuclear war in film in my opinion. Chilling.

Creepy.

The Changeling from 1980.

That was so good. I worked at a video store in ~1996 or so, and a coworker put it on. I was mesmerized.

I later took it home and watched it in the dark, like you should, and damn. Thats a masterpiece.

Freaked out.

The Ring.

I saw it in my 30s, on pain meds for kidney stones, while my wife and kids were away.

The thing that freaked me out the most was that in the middle-end of the film someone called me from an unknown number and hung up.

Claustrophobic.

The Descent.

Horrible monsters mixed with darkness and claustrophobia makes a scary movie.

Good one.

Sinister has always scared the s**t out of me.

It took me two tries to watch it.

Its the only movie Ive ever turned off from being so scared.

Classic.

The Thing.

My first viewing was at night, and I was maybe 5 or 6....

The Impact of Physical Discipline on a Childs Brain Development "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

Discipline is an essential aspect of parenting, aimed at teaching children appropriate behavior and helping them develop self-control. However, the methods employed in discipline can have long-lasting effects on a childs well-being, particularly when physical punishment is involved. This article explores the impact of physical discipline on a childs brain development, highlighting the negative consequences associated with such practices.

Understanding Physical Discipline:

Physical discipline refers to the use of physical force, such as spanking, slapping, or hitting, as a means of correcting a childs behavior. While it has been practiced for generations and remains prevalent in some cultures, modern research raises concerns about its efficacy and potential harm to children.

Neurological Impact:

  1. Altered Brain Structure: Studies using advanced brain imaging techniques have shown that physical discipline can lead to structural changes in a childs brain. Frequent physical punishment has been associated with a smaller prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for decision-making, impulse control, and regulating emotions. This alteration may hinder the childs ability to make sound judgments and manage their emotions effectively.
  2. Heightened Stress Response: Physical discipline can trigger an intense stress response in a childs brain. The fear and anxiety associated with physical punishment activate the amygdala, the brains fear center, leading to the release of stress hormones. Prolonged exposure to such stressors can disrupt the development of the hippocampus, a region crucial for memory and learning, impairing the childs cognitive abilities.
  3. Emotional and Behavioral Consequences: Children subjected to physical discipline may experience emotional and behavioral difficulties. The constant fear of punishment can lead to increased aggression, hostility, and antisocial behavior. Additionally, these children may exhibit lower self-esteem, higher levels of anxiety and depression, and difficulties in forming healthy relationships.

Long-Term Implications:

  1. The Cycle of Violence: Physical discipline has been linked to a perpetuation of violence across generations. Children who are exposed to physical punishment are more likely to resort to similar disciplinary methods when they become parents themselves. This perpetuates a cycle of violence that can have far-reaching consequences for society.
  2. Alternative Discipline Strategies: It is important to recognize that physical discipline is not the most effective or constructive means of guiding childrens behavior. Numerous evidence-based alternatives, such as positive reinforcement, setting clear boundaries, and open communication, can achieve discipline without resorting to physi...

Bitcoin Developer Introduces Ark, A Layer 2 Protocol For Fast And Efficient Payments "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

A Bitcoin developer by the name of Burak recently unveiled Ark, a Layer 2 protocol designed to enable fast and secure transactions. According to a post on the Bitcoin dev mailing list, Ark offers an alternative scaling approach that allows users to send and receive funds without liquidity constraints, making it easier for recipients to get paid without an onboarding setup. Unlike other Layer 2 solutions like Lightning, Ark does not require the opening and closing of channels, reducing the on-chain footprint significantly.

The protocol operates using virtual UTXOs (vTXOs), which are short-lived notes that expire after four weeks. When a payment is made, existing vTXOs are redeemed, and new ones are created. The anonymity of coin ownership is improved by restricting vTXO values to a range of sats values. Users can acquire vTXOs from others or use a process called lifting, which allows them to lift their on-chain UTXOs off the chain for virtual UTXOs.

The protocol introduces an intermediary called the Ark Service Provider (ASP), which serves as a liquidity provider, CoinJoin coordinator and Lightning service provider. ASPs create rapid, blinded CoinJoin sessions every five seconds, known as pools, which ensure the atomicity of payment schedules. Recipients can claim their funds through a txlock condition that requires the connector outpoint to remain unchanged.

Ark's integration with the Lightning Network allows users to attach HTLCs (or PTLCs) to a pool transaction, enabling interoperability between the two protocols. Multiple ASPs can be used to pay Lightning invoices from different vTXO sources using multi-part payments. Payments on Ark are credited every five seconds, allowing users to spend their zero-conf vTXOs immediately without waiting for on-chain confirmations.

The developer behind Ark highlighted the protocol's potential for future extensions and improvements. A hypothetical data manipulation opcode could disincentivize double-spending, and users could forge an ASP's signature to reclaim their vTXOs in case of a double-spend. Overall, Ark offers a promising solution for efficient and secure off-chain transactions on the Bitcoin network.

For more information on Ark and its technical details, curious users are encouraged to visit https://arkpill.me/deep-dive.

An Artists Homage to Mundane and Macabre New York "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

In Schmatta at Rachel Uffner Gallery, Talia Levitt puts a magnifying glass to both the grit and the shared experiences that define New York City. Through layered, sometimes kaleidoscopic paintings, the artist homes in on the everyday people, animals, material culture, and urban infrastructure that are emblematic of the city, but not often celebrated. Her painting method entails applying acrylic with piping bags, stencils, and freehand to create a trompe loeil effect and the impression of faux embroidery. Minuscule individual stitches of paint emphasize the works patchwork appearance.

Levitt references textiles throughout the show, first in the exhibition title, Schmatta, taken from the Yiddish word for rag. The term became common in the early 19th century, as Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe arrived in the US and began working in the garment industry. Levitts family has been in New Yorks textile business for generations, intertwining the citys history with the artists own. She invokes this connection in her imagery, painting garments on clotheslines, a sight common in some neighborhoods today and often associated with...

Radiotron, the 80s Youth Center That Shaped LAs Hip-Hop Scene "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

LOS ANGELES Jose Prime Reza was 11 or 12 when he first met Carmelo Alvarez. The fledgling graffiti artist was working on a piece in an alley late one night in 1983 in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles when a man driving a Volkswagen bus pulled up. Reza thought he was a police officer or a vigilante, so he started running down the alley.

He was painting a Scooby Doo on Venice Boulevard near Union, Alvarez recalled. I said, I like your work.

Reza stopped running. My names Carmelo, I run Radiotron. I want you to keep doing what youre doing, Reza remembers him saying. Radiotron, or the Youth Break Center, Inc., as it was officially named, was located just off MacArthur Park in LAs Westlake neighborhood. It was a place where kids could practice the nascent art forms of graffiti and breakdancing. Although it was only open from 19831985, it had a major influence on the emergence of hip-hop culture in Los Angeles.

I went a week later. It was pretty exciting for a kid, Alvarez said. It was a safe haven, an alternative for kids who were on the streets. Schools werent encouraging you to do graffiti and programs had been taken away.

Indiana Jones is one of the most beloved characters in movie history. With the fifth installment of the saga, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, coming out soon, the sun will be setting on the adventures of the globetrotting archaeologist after over 40 years. The new film had its world premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. There, it was not only met with a positive reception, but also saw its star, Harrison Ford, have a heartwarming moment as he bids farewell to the role of a lifetime.

After a star-studded screening featuring the stars from the movie, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny got a five-minute standing ovation from the crowds at Cannes. While cast and crew in the audience were touched by the round of applause, it was Indy himself, who was fighting back tears as he got the biggest cheers of the night.

The tributes to Ford took place even as he arrived at the Palais, the Cannes Film Festival main venue. Variety reports that, upon his arrival alongside his wife, they were introduced as Indiana Jones and Calista Flockhart. Once he entered the theater, the crowd jumped from their seats to give him a monumental entrance.

Ford was then called to the stage by Thierry Frmaux, the Cannes festival director, for a very special distinction. Artist Who Faked Native Identity Gets 18-Month Sentence "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A Washington artist who pretended to be a member of the Nez Perce Tribe was sentenced to 18 months of federal probation under the Indian Arts and Crafts Act (IACA), which mandates truth-in-advertising for Native art. The 67-year-old artist is not a registered tribal member and does not have Native heritage.

The United States Attorneys Office in the Western District of Washington handed down the sentence on Wednesday, May 17. Van Dyke had sold over $1,000 worth of carved pendants in the style of Aleut masks (Aleut is an umbrella term for people native to the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.) During a visit to the Zrich arboretum, Jonas Frei came across a nut species rarely found in Europe. The Juglans cinerea, or white walnut, is native to the U.S. and Canada and has a ribbed, oblong shell that once cracked, reveals a sweet, fleshy innard. Its presence in the Swiss enclave dates back to 1887, when the botanist Carl Joseph Schrter planted a tree that eventually produced the non-native fruits and sparked Freis enduring interest in the plant genus.

Based in Schaffhausen, Frei is a naturalist, illustrator, and landscape architect whose interest in botany has taken him to gardens, arboretums, and parks throughout Europe and North America. He recently spent time in Harvards Arnold Arboretum after being awarded the James R. Jewett Prize, which allowed him to expand his research on the walnut and explore how its migrated over centuries. Much of his work is focused on making science easily digestible and visually intriguing to a general audience. Research itself really is my goal, he tells Colossal. I want to understand the subject and make the knowledge accessible through my writing and the aesthetical presentation of the diversity of species...

DNA Analysis Reveals Interesting Information About the Origins of Native Americans

Native Americans on Horses in Silhouette at Sunset

Using DNA analysis, researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences have made some surprising discoveries about the ancestry of Native Americans. They looked at mitochondrial DNA passed down in females to follow the trail of an ancestral lineage that might link East Asian Paleolithic-age populations to founding populations in Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, and California. What they ended up discovering is that during the Ice Age, humans migrated from northern China to Japan and the Americas.

The Asian ancestry of Native Americans is more complicated than previously indicated, explains lead author Yu-Chun Li, a molecular anthropologist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In addition to previously described ancestral sources in Siberia, Australo-Melanesia, and Southeast Asia, we show that northern coastal China also contributed to the gene pool of Native Americans.

It's commonly accepted that Native Americans are descendants of Siberians who crossed the temporary Bering Strait land bridge. However, new findings published in Cell, show that these ancestors most likely landed on the Pacific coast. The researchers determined this by analyzing over 100,000 contemporary and 15,000 ancient DNA samples from across Eurasia to eventually identify 216 contemporary and 39 ancient individuals belonging to this rare lineage.

Through genetic mutations, geographic locations, and carbon dating, it appears that these travelers would have landed in America prior to the land bridge being open. In fact, they believe that these intrepid individuals came over in two different waves. The first migrationor radiationwould have occurred between 19,500 and 26,000 years ago. At this time, the ice sheets in northern China would have made conditions inhospitable and forced people to seek out a better climate.

The second radiation would hav...

An Abundant Food Forest in New Zealand "IndyWatch Feed Diy"

A lush edible oasis of forest garden is grown and lovingly tended by Garry and Ali Foster. Using no-dig, permaculture principles, Matahiwi Forest Garden celebrates balance, diversity and resilience. What was once a thin layer of riverbed silt is now a thriving ecosystem offering sustenance for several households.

The Fosters strive to live in partnership with nature: Ali writes conservation-themed childrens stories and Garry works full-time as a permaculturist. The work of the gardener is to spend time in the garden, watching and listening, he says.

As stewards of the land, Garry and Ali began by planting natives. The vision of a forest garden emerged over several decades. We dont have to sacrifice planting trees in order to grow food, explains Garry. The two are complementary the forest supports edibles by creating microclimates. Essentially, the forest shelter creates the ideal conditions to sustain the lower layers of sub-canopy, shrubs, herbaceous plants and ground-covering edibles. Matahiwi Forest Garden has around 60 fruit trees and an abundance of different berries.

The flow of the garden is designed around a series of clearings connected by curved paths. As a species, we enjoy the feeling of following a curved path to emerge into a warm sunny clearing. Were Back, Sorry For The Technical Issues "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Dear Members and Readers of Prepare For Change, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to update you on an unexpected and major setback we experienced recently. One week ago, our NVMe hard drive, a critical component of our server infrastructure, began showing signs of catastrophic file system corruption. Luckily, I was on the server at the time, troubleshooting unrelated issues, when terminal warnings alerted me to the gravity of the situation. In response, I swiftly powered down the server to prevent further damage. Upon inspection of our backups it was found that a glitch caused the configuration to stop working approximately one month before this event. Since no errors were showing, the lack of fresh backups was overlooked. Therefore we had to recover the data at all costs to ensure continuity. The recovery journey that followed was far from straightforward. It involved three days of crafting special block image backups, testing recovery techniques, and, due to resource limitations, having to reset and recreate the images. All this took place while the NVMe drive teetered on the edge of total failure. Even though SMART tests didn't initially indicate a complete failure, the drive eventually did fail just prior to implementing the file system recovery....

The Challenge of Closeness: Alain de Botton on Love, Vulnerability, and the Paradox of Avoidance "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

The psychological machinery of our commonest coping mechanism for the terror of hurt, rejection, and abandonment.

The Challenge of Closeness: Alain de Botton on Love, Vulnerability, and the Paradox of Avoidance

The hardest thing in life isnt getting what we want, isnt even knowing what we want, but knowing what to want. We think we want connection, but as soon as contact reaches deeper than the skin of being, we recoil with the terror of vulnerability. There is no place more difficult to show up than where marrow meets marrow. And yet that is the only place where two people earn the right to use the word love.

Our avoidance of that terrifying, transcendent place holds up a mirror to our most fundamental beliefs about life and love, about what we deserve and what we are capable of, about reality and the landscape of the possible. That is what Alain de Botton explores in this animated essay probing the psychological machinery of avoidance in intimate relationships where it comes from, how to live with it, and where it can go if handled with enough conscientiousness and compassion.

Figurative realism was still considered dead while abstraction, installation art, and video were vogue. Plus, women artists hadnt really hit the radar.

But that was then, and this is now. Today, interest in art by women has soared and realism is back, creating a buzz that everyone can hear. The biennial Bennett Prize and accompanying Rising Voices exhibition are in their third iteration, and its founders have their instincts ratified.

Then, you drag your feet to the coffee maker with your eyes half closed. Well, imagine what its like a for a bear waking from a very long slumber with no coffee in sight. A bear named Chada recently made waves thanks to a funny video that captures the moment she wakes up and emerges from her hideout, as people can't help relating to her expression.

Chada leads a happy life with lots of naps and and fun at the White Rock Bear Shelter in Ukraine. The animal refuge first posted the footage of the bear waking up with the message, Good morning. We're all like Chada on Monday on Instagram and TikTok. It didn't take long for it to go viral on the latter, amassing over 23 million views.  The clip was also shared on Reddit, where it sparked some funny comments. One Redditor wrote, Me too, friend. Me too. Another chimed in, Thats me every single morning.

Sadly, life wasn't all long naps for this lazy bear. From an early age, Chada was exploited in the Ukrainian national circus and spent most of his life on wheels, touring, writes the shelter. Then deemed unnecessary, she was sold to...

What Massive False Flag Bombing are they Planning Next? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Last month a Union Pacific train load headed to California from Wyoming made a horrifying discovery once arrived at its destination. One of the box cars was completely emptied. That boxcar contained 30 tons of ammonium nitrate, normally fertilizer which is bad enough for the loss of the agricultural and food industry, but ammonium nitrate is the same source of explosive used in the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 that ravaged the Alfred P. Murrah Building. The alleged domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh and his co-conspirator buddy were thought to have hauled a load of the ammonium nitrate load in a rented trailer, parked it in front of the Murrah building, and detonated it early in the morning thankfully before too many people had showed up for work, but still there were victims. One might recall that a high ranking US Army officer who reviewed the blast damage said that the force of the explosion could not have been simply the ammonium nitrate alone there had to have been an accompanying source of explosive. The media could have been expected to ignore the story and did!

The inside job

How does something as crucially threatening as a load of 30 tons of explosive simply disappear from a train load full of supplies and merchandise that has check points, firemen, and brakemen aboard to assure that the cars all make it through to the destination safely and without interlopers or theft either? It had to have been an inside job! Funny how that happens. Funny, how industry colludes with inside jobs to enable the dirty deeds to be accomplished. One might recall how in 2019 with the sudden emergence of the coronavirus planned pandemic that magically all these newly designed accoutrements were being advertised on TV! masks, gloves, scarfs that could be slid off the face and onto the neck, masks with internal filters for better breathing, just like that!  Yet, what did we see disappear from the shelves? Vitamin C, Elderberry products, Golden Seal root, Fenugreek, and almost all immune supplements such as effervescent vitamin C and antioxidants! Was this all a coincidence? Hardly. It was a well-coordinated unveiling of a little known ailment that required the supposed lockdown, mask mandates, and vaccinations along with all the convenient accessories that the consumer industry could profit off of!

Nikkis Weekly Tarot Reading: May 22-28, 2023 "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The cards pictured are from Uusis Pagan Otherworlds deck.

Judgment and The Fool

This week, we enter the sign of Gemini and journey through this sign until June 21st. Gemini speaks to both our spiritual and physical nature, we are drawn to connect to what is here on Earth while also contemplating what is out there in the stars.

This shift in energy impacts our vibrations, and the cards are here to share their wisdom and guidance. They help us navigate this time and give us the medicine we need.

Both the cards this week are Major Arcanas, which means the volume of their meaning is turned up and we are in a moment of heightened power. We are called to pay attention to their message.

Judgment is the 20th and penultimate card in the Major Arcana. This is a card about being called to change for the better. It points to a significant shift in awareness of ourselves and our place in the world.

When the Judgment card appears, it indicates that we can no longer see ourselves as separate individuals. We now see our connection to everyone and everything around us.

The suffering of others is connected to our suffering. The happiness of others is connected to our happiness. When we open our minds and hearts to our interconnectedness, we are living in our true potential as humans.

The card shows an angel presenting us with a crossroads. As people, we have an opportunity to bring more love and care to the world or to turn away and just focus on our individual needs.

The judgment of this card is not about judging others but about ourselves. We are in need of some tough love in order to push ourselves forward.

The Judgment card invites us to reflect and contemplate our behaviors and mindset. Some questions that might prompt your thinking are: Are there actions we can take today to raise our vibrations? How can we be more loving towards ourselves and others? What does our personal best look like and how can we get there?

Take time this week to ask these questions. Try holding a growth mindset when it comes to your evolution. We are stretching ourselves and our perspective so that we can be more loving and conscious beings on this planet. This is not easy work but is full of meaning, connection, and joy.

Our next card is the Fool, a card connected to the youthful energy in all of us. The Fool highlights a childs fantastical imagination, the creative mind, and our adventurous spirit. The Fool gives us the much-needed energy to take on the work of the Judgement card.

It is the first card in the Major Arcana and it brings the energy of a new soul that is not familiar with the trials and tribulations of life. It is all about taking risks and lightening our emotional baggage. If the Fool had a mantra it would be: Leap and the net will appear.

Textile Artist Chronicles Each Day With Stitches on Year-Long Embroidered Tapestry "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Textile Artist Chronicles Each Day With Stitches on Year-Long Embroidered Tapestry

Daily Embroidery Project by Karen Turner

Textile artist Karen Turner marks the passage of time through embroidery stitches. In her Intuitive Daily Stitching project, Turner adds thread marks to fabric to chronicle each day. She fills in pre-drawn circles and squares with various stitches, from a simple running stitch to more complicated French knots. The stitched days sit side by side and culminate in a patchwork of texture and color. This tapestry is an apt metaphor for the relative sameness of everyday life. While each day may look a little different, its all part of the same cloth collected through the years.

As a textile artist, I sew every day anyway, Turner tells My Modern Met, but in the beginning I wanted somewhere separate to collect a few stitches every day on a cloth that would serve as a witness to the passage of time. By taking 15 minutes or half an hour each day to work on this project, she makes a conscious effort to meditate on the present. It's about recognizing each moment as precious and ephemeral, and this allows for wider reflection on the value of life and on what we choose to do with our time.

Turners daily art project could be replicated on paper or with paint, but it was important for her to hand-stitch everything. I think there is a significant metaphor for healing and repair in needle and thread, and also one of connection, she explains. Turner makes her stitches on vintage French cotton/linen bed sheets, and in doing so feels like shes adding part of her life to a fabric that has already had years of service. It feels like a layering of lives. Stitching on a cloth changes its texture and makes it stronger, and I think this reflects the benefit of mindfulness itself as we take time out to rest and repair.

The value found in daily projects like Turners is through the process. Because of this, she's more concerned with the act of creation instead of what it...

The Future of The Nib "IndyWatch Feed Comics"

Im afraid I have some bad news. After ten years of publishing, The Nib is going to close down this summer. The new issue of our magazine, the Future issue, will be our last. We will continue to publish online every weekday through August and then shut down.

To all those who have supported us and published with us, thank you. To the readers whom I know this disappoints, Im sorry, but it couldnt be avoided.

If youre a member: You dont have to do anything. Your membership will continue through August and then be automatically canceled. During that time we will be publishing daily as usual, including new comics from our regular lineup.

This was an incredibly hard decision to make and theres no one factor involved. Rather it involves, well, everything. The rising costs of paper and postage, the changing landscape of social media, subscription exhaustion, inflation, and the simple difficulty of keeping a small independent publishing project alive with relatively few resourcesthough we did a lot with them. The math isnt working anymore.

Im really proud of what we have accomplished. Over the past decade, The Nib has published more than 6,000 comics and paid out more than $2 million to creators. Countless book projects have launched from Nib pieces and a number of creators had their first professional comics published with us. For ten years we were the outlet supporting political cartooning and showcasing the possibilities of nonfiction comics. Rather than enduring years of painful cuts and diminishing output, Id rather go out while The Nib is still in a place that feels respectable, rather than run the publication into the ground.

Health care providers were 'bribed' into suggesting COVID vaccines, congressman says leaked document shows "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., shared a document on social media Thursday, outlining Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield's "Vaccine Provider Incentive program" for Kentucky-based providers. The document showed doctors could make thousands of dollars in bonus compensation for inoculating their patients during the pandemic. Two separate categories were outlined in the document. The first included bonus parameters for providers based on their practice's total vaccination numbers by Sept. 1, 2021. Providers in the state of Kentucky could have made anywhere from $20 to $125 per vaccinated patient. For example, to receive the $125 bonus per vaccinated patient, the provider must have vaccinated at least 75% of their practice's total Anthem members by Sept. 1, 2021. The second category bumped up the bonuses but was specifically for inoculations between Sept. 1, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2021. The parameters for that shorter time frame gave Anthem providers as much as $250 per newly vaccinated individual if the provider has inoculated at least 75% of its Anthem members. As with the previous category ... the bonus amount per newly inoculated patient varies. For context, a health provider with roughly 265 patients could have received as much as a $25,000 bonus for vaccinating 200 of their patients before Sept. 1, 2021. "Your primary care provider was bribed to suggest you should take the COVID vaccine," Massie tweeted alongside an image of a FAQ sheet laying out the parameters for the program.

Loneliness poses risks as deadly as smoking: surgeon general "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Widespread loneliness in the U.S. poses health risks as deadly as smoking up to 15 cigarettes daily, costing the health industry billions of dollars annually, the U.S. surgeon general said. About half of U.S. adults say they've experienced loneliness, Dr. Vivek Murthy said in an 81-page report. "Loneliness is ... a feeling the body sends us when something we need for survival is missing," Murthy [said]. "Millions of people in America are struggling. That's why I issued this advisory." Research shows that Americans, who have become less engaged with worship houses, community organizations and even their own family members in recent decades, have steadily reported an increase in feelings of loneliness. People culled their friend groups during the coronavirus pandemic. Americans spent about 20 minutes a day in person with friends in 2020, down from 60 minutes daily nearly two decades earlier. The loneliness epidemic is hitting young people, ages 15 to 24, especially hard. The age group reported a 70% drop in time spent with friends during the same period. Loneliness increases the risk of premature death by nearly 30%, with the report revealing that those with poor social relationships also had a greater risk of stroke and heart disease. Isolation also elevates a person's likelihood for experiencing depression, anxiety and dementia. People who used social media for two hours or more daily were more than twice as likely to report feeling socially isolated than those who were on such apps for less than 30 minutes a day.

Note: Listen to an inspiring interview with U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, where he envisions a new 'social' infrastructure for humanity that consists of programs, policies, and structures that foster healthy relationships and bring healing to the mental health crisis.

The pharmaceutical industry finances about 75 percent of the agency's drug division "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The FCC Is Supposed to Protect the Environment. It Doesn't. "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Few people think of the FCC as an environmental cop. It's known for regulating television and radio and overseeing the deployment of communications technology. But the agency also has a broad mandate to ensure that technology doesn't damage the environment. This role is particularly critical now, as the FCC presides over a nationwide buildout for 5G service, which will require 800,000 new "small cell" transmitters, those perched on street poles and rooftops, often near schools, apartments and homes. But even with this massive effort underway, as ProPublica previously reported, the FCC has refused to revise its radiation-exposure limits, which date back to the era of flip phones. In addition, the agency has cut back on the environmental reviews that it requires while also restricting local governments' control over wireless sites. The agency operates on the honor system, delegating much of its responsibility to the industries that it regulates. It allows companies to decide for themselves whether their projects require environmental study. And if the companies break the rules, they're expected to report their own transgression. Few do. In the rare instances in which the FCC investigates, even brazen illegality is often met with a minor fine, a scolding "admonishment" or no action at all. Just 10% of FCC enforcement cases between 2014 and 2016 resulted in a monetary penalty, while 40% ended with a warning and the rest resulted in no action.

How a Human Rights Lawyer Went From Hero to House Arrest "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

More than a quarter-century ago, Steven Donziger, a young American human rights lawyer, joined the legal effort to force Texaco to clean up the Ecuadoran headwaters of the Amazon rain forest. Between 1972 and 1992, the company dumped toxic waste and spilled billions of gallons of oil-exposed water across 1,700 square miles, an area larger than Rhode Island. In response, a coalition of rural Ecuadorans in the Lago Agrio region sued the US oil giant, and Donziger signed on to help and soon became the lead attorney on the case. In 2013, after a legal campaign that stretched across two continents, the 30,000 indigenous people and small farmers whom Donziger represented in a class-action lawsuit won a $9.5 billion judgment in Ecuadoran courts against Chevron, which acquired Texaco in 2001. It was one of the largest financial judgments ever against an oil company. Fast-forward to today, and Donziger is under house arrest in New York City, forced to wear an ankle monitor. The lawyer, now 59, is fighting contempt charges. Meanwhile, his clients in Ecuador have received nothing from Chevron. Without that funding, they have no way to cleanse the poisoned soil or treat what they say is an elevated number of cancer cases. In 2010 ... Chevron launched a countersuit in a New York federal court, alleging that Donziger and his allies had committed bribery and fraud in Ecuador to win the case. Meanwhile, residents in the Amazon rain forest live and work on poisoned land.

The secret to why exercise is so good for mental health? 'Hope molecules' "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

One of the most interesting health research projects of the past decade or so has looked at how exactly exercise makes us feel good. Research shows that there appears to be a clear scientific reason, that we can see at a cellular level. When muscles contract, they secrete chemicals into the bloodstream. Among these chemicals are myokines, which have been referred to as "hope molecules". These small proteins travel to the brain, cross the blood-brain barrier, and act as an antidepressant. They do this by improving our mood, our ability to learn, our capacity for locomotor activity, and protect the brain from the negative effects of ageing. This has been referred to as "muscle-brain cross-talk". They're also responsible for improved metabolism, reduced inflammation, and increased muscle strength. Myokines are not solely responsible for feeling good: exercise also releases neurotransmitters such as dopamine, noradrenaline and serotonin that have a positive impact on our brains. So when you're feeling low, it's tempting to do a Netflix binge, or spend hours scrolling on social media comparing others' lives to yours, and feeling increasingly sad. This is especially true for teenagers. The antidote we know clearly from epidemiology and biology is to just get moving: whether it's joining a team, going for a long walk, or finding a community gym or yoga class. You'll certainly feel more hopeful afterwards.

Inside Too Good To Go's Mission To Make Unused Food Accessible To All "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Food costs, especially in times of inflation, can be exorbitant. Likewise, getting to a brick-and-mortar grocery store may well be logistically impossible due to health and/or mobility concerns. It's also true having limited access to food may be detrimental not merely because a person lacks basic sustenance, but also because certain medications work only when taken with food. Without it, those drugs may cease to work as effectively, if at all. Founded in 2016 in Copenhagen by five entrepreneurs, the team at Too Good To Go is trying to curb food insecurity around the globe by fighting food waste. On its website, Too Good To Go (TGTG) reports 2.8 billion tons of food is wasted every year. The app, available on iOS and Android, features a number of partner businessesbakeries, supermarkets, and restaurantsnearest a user's location that are giving away so-called "Surprise Bags" of unsold food. Rather than perfectly good food wasting away in a waste basket somewhere, TGTG users can stop by said businesses and pick up the food for themselves. The app's UI is similar to those of on-demand food delivery services like ... DoorDash, UberEats, and Postmates. Users are able to see which places are available, what they may get, and then sign up to pick up the items at a designated time. To date, TGTG boasts 4.2 million users and 9,790 businesses on its platform. Earlier this month, the company ... announced they are carbon neutral and have saved 100 million bags in the last seven years.

The Surprising Role of Blind Women in India's Health Care System "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

On a sunny March morning in Bengaluru, Ayesha Banu and Noorunnisa walk up to the stage of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology. Their white canes folded and held aside, they speak to a packed hall of students and teachers about their work as Medical Tactile Examiners (MTEs). "We assist doctors in detecting the early signs of breast cancer in women," Banu speaks into the mic. "Using the first two fingers of both hands, we examine women's breasts for abnormalities." She explains that blind women like herself and Noorunnisa are especially well-suited to this profession because of the "high tactile sense in our fingertips, which helps us find tiny lumps in the breast." Tactile breast examinations, or TBEs, are clinical breast examinations specially designed for blind women trained as MTEs. Employing MTEs for routine breast cancer screening and reaching women in their communities and workplaces could help in the early detection of cancer and save lives, says Dr. Poovamma CU, the breast specialist under whom Banu and Noorunnisa work. Studies prove that in the absence of sight, blind people's brains can develop a heightened sense of touch, as well as hearing. Through the MTE training, a woman with vision impairment is able to empower another woman, by offering her preventive health care. In a recent Indian study where two MTEs conducted TBEs on 1,338 women, their success rate of detecting malignant cancers was over 78 percent, and the miss rate, only one percent.

Role Reversal: Ethereum Defies Expectations With Lower Volatility Than Bitcoin "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest digital asset in the cryptocurrency sector, is currently captivating traders attention as volatility gauges indicate an intriguing shift in market dynamics.

Contrary to the customary pattern, these indicators are suggesting that Ether may experience relatively smaller near-term price fluctuations compared to Bitcoin, according to Bloomberg.

This unexpected reversal has injected a fresh element of anticipation and curiosity among investors, who are now closely monitoring the evolving landscape of cryptocurrencies.

Narrowing Gap Between Ethereum And Bitcoin Volatility

The T3 Ether Volatility Index, an innovative tool, lies at the core of this phenomenon. It has emerged as an indispensable barometer for assessing and foreseeing price volatility in the Ether market.

The data compiled by Bloomberg reveals that the difference in volatility between Ether and Bitcoin, as measured by the 180-day realized or historical volatility, is currently at its smallest since 2020. Furthermore, this difference is only marginally positive, indicating a remarkably close alignment between the volatility of Ether and Bitcoin.

Caroline Mauron, co-founder of crypto derivatives platform OrBit Markets, told the publication:

Lower volatility typically helps institutional investors to allocate more capital to crypto, as it becomes cheaper...

What PROOF do we have that the Biden family has been involved in unethical and possibly illegal activities? During a recent BlazeTV special called The Reckoning: The Biden Crime Family, Glenn took to the chalkboard (one of his largest chalkboards EVER) to explain it all, showing how these potential crimes date all the way back to Joes vice presidency. This goes beyond Hunter Biden. In fact, several in the family, including a mysterious person simply labeled Biden, are involved. In this clip, Glenn shows how the Biden crime familys money laundering scheme works.

How Navy SEAL UNMASKS the Deep State in Terminal List Series | The Glenn Beck Podcast | Ep 186 "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

History repeats itself for the worse, but also for the better. This is why, despite Jack Carrs penchant for telling tragic stories, he is optimistic about Americas future. But, as he tells Glenn, it wont be easy. Jack joins Glenn to discuss some of the biggest problems America is facing, including the threats of artificial intelligence, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and the immigration crisis and its long-term damage. Many of these threats are also themes in his latest thriller novel, Only the Dead which is certainly his most violent book yet. After a two-decade career as a Navy SEAL, Jack became a New York Times best-selling author, knocking it out of the park with the Terminal List series, which has been turned into a series featuring Chris Pratt on Amazon Prime Video. Jack gives Glenn a hint of whats coming in Season 2 of the series and also explains why hes so dedicated to anti-woke storytelling, which is far from the norm in Hollywood. The Collective is what he calls the oligarchy in his novels, in charge of establishing a new global cabal. But is it too late to reform its real-world equivalents: the Deep State, WEF, and the military-industrial complex? Jack tells Glenn why hes not so sure.

The recent Durham Report exposed inexcusable moves done by the FBI (and by many others, too). But FBI abuses do not stop there. In fact, Rep. Jim Jordan tells Glenn that recent actions from the agency like its attempt to CRUSH whistleblowers who speak out may be worse than the ones Durham revealed. In this clip, Glenn and Rep. Jordan discuss the recent FBI whistleblower hearing, the way the FBI tries to silence anyone who speaks out, and why recent FBI actions hurt more than a presidential campaign theyre deeply affecting the everyday American, too

Link "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

According to Karen Kingston, a medical-legal advisor, and biotech analyst with 25 years of experience, EcoHealth Alliances own documents have shown that the development of the COVID-19 vaccines were the real pandemic. The cause of the pandemic was a biological attack using so-called bat vaccines which are spike protein nanoparticles developed in a laboratory by EcoHealth.

Kingston argues that the gene sequences for these bat vaccines were subsequently used in the FDA-approved Pfizer covid vaccines for humans. She also claims COVID-19 is not a virus, but an attack with nanoparticles.

Residents of Wuhan and other cities of China, Italy, and the United States, were victims of a coordinated nanoparticle bioweapon attack, a bioweapon attack using the same nanoparticles that are in all covid-19 mRNA vaccines. Most victims became infected with the nanoparticles via a direct aerosol attack, surface transmission, or food and beverage contamination, Kingston said.

Throughout 2021 and 2022 shes invested thousands of hours reviewing documents such as EcoHealths Alliance pitch to DARPA, peer-reviewed publications regarding the ground zero attacks in China, Italy, and the US, scientific publications and manufacturers documents regarding nanoparticle technologies, Pfizers private and government contracts, dozens of patents, nanoparticle and SynBio forecasting reports, and reviewed many DARPA communications regarding the current and future applications of nanoparticle technologies.

Using EcoHealth Alliance documents and peer-review publications, she detailed in a Substack article how covid-19 was a pre-planned global bioweapon attack that used aerosolised mRNA nanoparticles to cause a pandemic. -Daily Expos

Kingstons article, titled: mRNA Vaccines are a Sham. People are Being Injected with Nanotech, exposes the ruling classes plans to dominate, depopulate, and control the human population through manufactured fear, nanoparticles, and vaccines.

Everything we were told about the hoax virus and what the mRNA vaccines ARE is a misnomer and a lie, down to the very term mRNA vaccine. The COVID-19 injections are not mRNA vaccines. The COVID-19 mRNA shots are...

Making A Laser Projector From An Old Hard Drive

I absolutely love creative re-use of old computer hardware. Maybe its because Im a very cheap person. maybe its because I have fond memories of the more hacky old days of building computers. Whatever the reason, projects like this DIY laser projector using an old hard drive really catch my eye. In this video Ben []

Person who hacked my credit card emailed me asking why I cancelled his flight "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

Weve featured no end of scammers being given exactly the treatment they deserved on these pages.

But were not sure weve ever featured a scammer quite so outrageously entitled as this one. Entitled doesnt quite do them justice though (you might prefer something a little more NSFW).

Person who hacked my credit card emailed me asking why I canceled his flight, said AshesfallforAshton who shared this screenshot over on Reddit.

It was followed by a little bit more explanation from AshesfallforAshton.

My credit card was hacked. I think the guy did it by hacking my gmail account. Because he signed up for Priceline, with the login with gmail button.

I called my bank and canceled it. I logged into Priceline to see if I could get any information about the person who booked the flight. I saw I could cancel it for no charge. So I did because it was going to be faster to get a refund from Priceline than my bank.

Two days later I got this email. It had his photo and phone number. It matched the name on the flight too.

Extraordinary scenes! And here are just a few of the many, many responses it prompted.

Theres zero chance of me ignoring that email. I am 100% responding.

Why would you do that to him? He has a family event to attend. Have you no heart?

Paper-Thin Ceramic Pieces Puzzle Together to Form Elegant Vessels by Ellis Moseley "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Ceramic vessels made of paper-clay slip.

All images Ellis Moseley, shared with permission courtesy of Hugo Michell Gallery

Through a methodical and labor-intensive process of layering petals of thin clay, Adelaide-based artist Ellis Moseley creates elegant, airy vessels that appear to flutter where they sit. Using paper-clay slipa fine-grained, lightweight, and durable ceramic medium made from mixing clay slip with fiberthe sculptures are composed of strips dried on a plaster bat. The individual pieces are then peeled away and applied to a smooth base. He begins at the bottom and works up in a loose spiral, retaining the delicate edges and emphasizing each vessels contours.

In his recent exhibition Heist at Hugo Michell Gallery, Moseley focused on a color palette of pastel pinks, blues, and greens, coalescing fine art and functionality. Find more of his slip-cast work on his website.

Chainlink (LINK) Price Defies Bearish Pressure With Strong Recovery "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The bearish pressure in Chainlink (LINK) since April 19, 2023, seems to have ended recently. Notably, the asset dropped from $8.57 to a low of $6.37, representing a dip of 25.67% between April and May 11.

However, a strong recovery in the LINK market started on May 12 till date. On May 21, 2023, the coin rose to a local high of $6.782, changing the trend to favor the bulls.

As the bulls take back control of the market, the price of LINK has increased significantly, giving the investors/traders hope and creating positive sentiment.
