Entrancing CGI Animation Visualizes the Lipid Theory of How Life Began

Stills from Markos Ray's animation aBioGenesis

Photos: MRK

London-based CGI artist Markos Kay focuses his work on complex scientific theories and visualizations. In his latest animation titled aBioGenesis, he explores how life originated on Earth. The results are incredibly mesmerizing.

Kay explains that the primordial soup theory is one of the main ideas of how life was first created on our planet. He says it suggests that life began in a hot, swirling soup of chemicals and energy. Kays animation focuses on another theory, the lipid world theory. This theory postulates that life began as lipids, simple molecules that are insoluble in water. These molecules are said to have formed protective bilayers in the oceans, which Kay concludes, would have acted like tiny bubbles or bags, enclosing and protecting the chemical reactions that would eventually give rise to life.

The artists digital re-imagination is a captivating experience full of organic shapes and colors, which all move like the insides of a complex lava lamp. Stills from the video are available as wallpapers on Behance. But for now, scroll below to watch this incredible video and see the mesmerizing stills.

Dr. Richard Hansen: Uncovering the Maya Superhighways "IndyWatch Feed Uncanny"

LiDAR analyses in the contiguous Mirador-Calakmul Karst Basin, Guatemala: an introduction to new perspectives on regional early Maya socioeconomic and political organization

LiDAR coverage of a large contiguous area within the Mirador-Calakmul Karst Basin (MCKB) of northern Guatemala has identified a concentration of Preclassic Maya sites (ca. 1000 B.C.A.D. 150) connected by causeways, forming a web of implied social, political, and economic interactions. This article is an introduction to one of the largest, contiguous, regional LiDAR studies published to date in the Maya Lowlands. More than 775 ancient Maya settlements are identified within the MCKB, and 189 more in the surrounding karstic ridge, which we condensed into 417 ancient cities, towns, and villages of at least six preliminary tiers based on the surface area, volumetrics, and architectural configurations. Many tiered sites date to the Middle and Late Preclassic periods, as determined by archaeological testing, and volumetrics of contemporaneously constructed and/or occupied architecture with similar morphological characteristics. Monumental architecture, consistent architectural formats, specific site boundaries, water management/collection facilities, and 177 km of elevated Preclassic causeways suggest labor investments that defy the organizational capabilities of lesser polities and potentially portray the strategies of governance in the Preclassic period. Settlement distributions, architectural continuities, chronological contemporaneity, and volumetric considerations of sites provide evidence for early centralized administrative and socio-economic strategies within a defined geographical region.

Dr. Richard D. Hansen is a specialist on the early Maya and is the Director of the Mirador Basin Project in northern Guatemala. He has been conducting archaeological research and scientific studies in northern Guatemala for 38 years. He is an Affiliate Research Professor at Idaho State University, after serving as an Adjunct Professor of Anthropology at the University of Utah from 2014 to 2021. He was formerly a Research Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Idaho State University for 8 years and was Senior Scientist at the Institute for Mesoamerican Research at ISU. Prior to that, he was Assistant Research Scientist (Level IV) at the UCLA Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics for 12 years. He is the founder and president of the Foundation for Anthropological Research and Environmental Studies (FARES), a non-profit scientific research institution based in Idaho.

Dizzying Hyperrealistic Paintings Capture the Shift Perspectives of Bustling Cities "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Dizzying Hyperrealistic Paintings Capture the Shift Perspectives of Bustling Cities

Hyperrealistic Cityscape Paintings by Nathan Walsh

Rue Des Saints, oil on linen, 2022

Cities like New York and Paris are so large and complex that it is hard to contain them on one canvas. Artist Nathan Walsh, however, manages to create an incredibly detailed picture of urban living in his hyperrealistic paintings. By using different vantage points and incorporating reflections, these depictions feel like snapshots of a specific place in time, and sometimes of multiple places spanning different moments.

Although always rendered in the same meticulous manner, Walsh's paintings vary slightly with the subject matter. Some of his pieces, such as Delmonico's, portray a straightforward view of a busy intersection in the rain. In other compositions, he overlaps multiple angles to create something strikingly different. This approach can be seen in Rue des Saints, which is based on a busy cafe in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Instead of a literal view, the painting explores interior, exterior, and reflected space within its square format, he tells My Modern Met. Instead of the static nature of a photograph, the painting became a stage set where found imagery could float in and out of a real location.

In addition to combining multiple perspectives of one place, Walsh has also merged two different locations in a painting. Titled Monarchs Drift, this piece features the cityscapes of Chicago and San Francisco. The resultant painting has a hallucinatory quality which is neither here nor there' and exists as a world in transition, between fully formed states, he says. It is realist in nature but only insofar as the spaces it suggests are cogent and persuasive.

Aerial Photos Capture the Artistry of Different Sports From a Birds Eye View

Aerial Sports Photography by Ilanna Barkusky

Ordinary activities are given a fresh perspective in the work of Ilanna Barkusky. The Canadian-born and now California-based photographer uses drones to capture swimming, tennis, basketball, and other sports from an overhead view in her series titled Aerial. These artful shots highlight the beauty of athletics from a less-seen angle.

Barkusky's Aerial series is a mixture of photography and moving images. The athletes are almost centered in the image and fully immersed in their location. My aerial work is inspired by how I view the world, Barkusky tells My Modern Met. The view from above feels vibrant and artfully created, which is how I like to see my surroundings. A lot of these beautiful designs are hiding in plain sight, which then open up when captured from a different perspective.

In this way, she showcases the elegance of swimmers navigating through clear pools and basketball players running across the court. I intended to take various locations (a community park, a swimming pool) and show the beauty behind the spaces that we interact with in daily life, Barkusky continues. I started with basketball courts and tracks, and the series has evolved to include much more once I realized the potential of flying above.

Scroll down to see more photos from the Aerial series, and follow Barkusky on Instagram to keep up to date with her latest projects.

Planetary Shift: The Greatest Opportunity of Existence is NOW! "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

You'd be forgiven for looking out in the world and seeing only the dark veils of intervention and control. You might pray at times for an easier journey and wonder why you ever incarnated here in these complex and confusing times. You might wonder when the planetary "Event" we're concluding to will wash it all away. But you'd also be missing the point of the shift. We manifested this spiritual gym. We were seeded for it. Plenty of us have sailed through similar a zillion times. It's the greatest opportunity of existence. Here's how.

A Terraforming World: how to Cope?

The world is terraforming around us day by day. As one karmic veil after another gets activated and manifested in the external, it feels at times like a veritable assault-course of pushback, challenge and turmoil. Take now, for example, the major changes happening in the financial sector, that which underpins the old karmic construct and plenty of our lives. You might well wonder, how do I cope? In these kinds of situations, it's utterly essential to intuit the movement of the quantum field itself, and to align yourself with it. That will ALWAYS  be the resolution. So what's going on exactly? What we've incarnated into is a karmic construct going back to Atlantean times when Homo Sapiens was hybridised by an interdimensional intervention to be enslaved within a civilisation of an alien agenda and purpose. 11,700 years ago it was obliterated in a solar nova event that blasted the casing off the pyramids and sent a deluge of meltwater from the last ice age around the globe. It spawned a zillion planetary myths, but all were built upon this underlying truth. The evidence is abound. Check out this video by the Egyptologist Robert Shock

Don't miss the heavenly glory!

Since then the intervention has gathered itself back together, reformulated its strategy and rebuilt itself into the high-tech agenda we're moving rapidly into today. Just like before it will fail, due to another 12000-year convergence of galactic, solar and earth pole-shift cyc...

The viral story of a girl and her goat explains how the meat industry indoctrinates children "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

The story of a California girl and her goat named Cedar, which captured national and international headlines this past week, almost reads like it could have been penned by a Hollywood screenwriter. The tale of a child battling cruel adults for the life of a beloved animal companion has been the plot of everything from a classic childrens story (Charlottes Web), sci-fi film (2017s Okja), and even an episode of The Simpsons (Apocalypse Cow).

The tale begins in the experience of millions of children who enroll annually in their local 4-H clubs a more than century-old national youth organization run by the US Department of Agriculture that teaches personal development skills through agricultural and home economics projects. Last year, the 9-year-old daughter of Jessica Long, a resident of Shasta County in northern California, acquired a baby goat for a 4-H livestock project. The idea was that she would raise the goat until he was ready to be auctioned for slaughter at the local county fair, a common activity for 4-H members.

But raising Cedar led Longs daughter to care deeply for him and, on the eve of the auction last June, she pleaded for the goat to be spared. The fair organizers refused. Then, Republican state Sen. Brian Dahle, a farmer and unsuccessful 2022 California gubernatorial candidate, submitted a winning bid of $902 for...

Game On: The Challenge Of Introducing Bitcoin To Uninterested, Gen-Z College Students "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The mother of a college student shares lessons from a recent orange-pilling session with her daughter and her friends at school.

This is an opinion editorial by Tali Lindberg, the mother of a college student and co-creator of the HODL UP Bitcoin game.

Hyperbitcoinization is a future that all Bitcoiners hope to witness. It is defined via the Nakamoto Institute as a voluntary transition from an inferior currency to a superior one, and its adoption is a series of individual acts

But who are the individuals who must act to transition from using a given currency to using Bitcoin? I submit that todays Gen Z college students will play a major role in that transition. Unfortunately, most of them are not following Bitcoin threads on Twitter, nor are they reading articles about the latest developments in monetary policy. Yet, they are the future leaders of our country and the world and possess the power to influence policy. It is crucial that we find a way to reach them and educate them about Bitcoin.

Thats why, as a passionate Bitcoin enthusiast, I am determined to make a difference and introduce this revolutionary freedom technology to college students. For me, making a difference means investing my time to impact, however slightly, those who have not yet joined the Bitcoin ranks. In this article, I share my experience and lessons learned with a recent example. My conclusion is we are empowered, obligated even, to make a difference in sharing Bitcoin with the young people in our lives.

Visiting My Daughter With A Bitcoin Game In Hand

I recently traveled to visit my oldest child at her college. Thankfully, she has a healthy friend group that shares traditional and respectful values. Theyre good, salt-of-the-earth kids who just so happen to know nothing about Bitcoin. My perfect audience!

I arrived armed with nothing but my passion and a Bitcoin board game that I created with my husband, HODL UP. For the next two hours, I sat on a cold, hard, dorm-room floor playing the game with six students. My goal: to spark their curiosity about Bitcoin in a fun way. These students major in business, environmental science, mathematics and psychology. While they had all heard about Bitcoin through media headlines, the...

Filipinos Nailed to Crosses for Easter Crucifix Reenactment "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

With the Holy Week ending, many Filipinos celebrated it by spending time in churches and beaches. But a unique and gory tradition paused because the COVID-19 pandemic resumed for the first time, drawing thousands of tourists from the Philippines and abroad.

As part of their repentance and show of faith, some Filipinos re-enact the life and suffering of Jesus Christ by being nailed to the cross themselves during Good Friday, a bloody but longstanding tradition that the Catholic Church in the country disapproves of and yet still remains today.

For this years Good Friday, dozens of villagers in the farming town of San Pedro Cutud in Pampanga registered to participate in real-life crucifixions, but only eight men showed up.

One of these eight men was Ruben Enaje, a 62-year-old sign painter who had already been crucified 34 times before in San Pedro Cutud. Enaje said during a news conference after being briefly nailed to a wooden cross that he prayed for the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine-Russia war to end, contributing to rising inflation in the Philippines.

Its just these two countries involved in that war, Russia and Ukraine, but all of us are being affected, Enaje said. During the news conference, he appeared well despite the two bandages on his hands that he showed to the journalists.

A father of four children, Enaje said he initially wanted to end his extraordinary penitence because of his age, but he decided with finality before Lent next year....

US Professor Investigated for Showing Prophet Muhammad Drawing "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

A public university in San Francisco, California, sparked criticism for allegedly planning to investigate an associate professor of history after showing an image of the Prophet Muhammad while teaching Islamic history.

The news came a few months after Hamline University, a private liberal arts university in Minnesota, was condemned for reportedly refusing to renew an art professors contract for showing a painting depicting the Prophet Muhammad in an Islamic arts class.

The incident occurred in the fall of 2022 when Iranian historian and educator Maziar Behrooz was teaching a course covering the history of the Islamic world from 500 to 1700 CE at the San Francisco State University (SFSU).

The cause of the controversy was a drawing of the Prophet Muhammad that Behrooz showed as part of his class. Even though Behrooz has used the same artwork for years in teaching Islamic history, one of his students, a devout Muslim, took issue with the drawing and vehemently objected to it outside his class.

The student claimed it was forbidden to depict or portray the Prophet Muhammad in any shape or form. While artworks portraying the Prophet are prohibited in many Islamic countries and denominations, this rule is not uniform, as Behrooz argued.

We all get a little bit annoyed from time to time when it comes to food service from time to time, but I think this woman took things a bit too far.

Check out this story and see if you agree with me

A woman in August, Georgia became so enraged after discovering that biscuits were missing from her order from Popeyes that she drove her SUV into an entrance to the restaurant and almost hit an 18-year-old employee who was standing near the door.

According to employees at the restaurant, even after they satisfied the womans order and gave her the missing biscuits, she was still so angry that she decided she had to take action.

And my home, and what could be taken from mes been stolen,

Let whoever wishes end this life of mine

Conquered, from its hills, I shall be read.

Fruits and Vegetables are being coated with Apeel - Gates and WEF endorsed
This is copied from a friend:

Don't eat anything with the "Apeel" sticker on it. It just appeared in our grocery stores. I saw it for the first time today. The cucumbers are not wrapped in plastic but there's a big sign saying it is coated in Apeel to protect freshness and reduce plastic waste. The cucumbers also have a sticker on them with the word Apeel.

I checked the company out, it's funded by Bill Gates and others and the WEF endorses it. And I checked their website out and you can't find any info about what Apeel is. Look at the frequently asked questions. They even tell you not to buy it if you're worried.

In Canada so far it's just on cucumbers and maybe apples. In the US it's on avocados and apples and possibly limes, lemons, and cucumbers. The company is very mysterious about what the product actually is. And it can't be washed off no matter how much scrubbing. It even says this on the website in the FAQ. Supposedly it can make produce last up to 3 times longer. Suddenly the price of cucumbers dropped today to just over $3 for 3 cucumbers in a pack or $1.27. They really want people to buy these cucumbers."

Safety data sheet says : APEEL Hazard statements H318 Causes serious eye damage. H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction. H412 Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Viral TikTok Video Shows How COVID-Era High School Yearbooks Had Zoom Screenshots as School Portraits

Viral TikTok Captures How Different Pandemic-Era High School Yearbooks Are

Photo: Screenshot from TikTok

It's hard to believe that three years have passed since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. While life has mostly returned to normal now, the challenges of those years will remain with many for a long time. TikToker @milaabandzz made a short video recording different pages of her 2021 high school yearbook, perfectly capturing how unusual the era was for students.

The clip has already received over 4 million views and a large amount of engagement from people who were amused and saddened by the glimpse into pandemic-era school years. While @milaabandzz highlights select pages from the album, she also includes the text POV: you were class of '21, which emphasizes the surrealism of the pages. For instance, in the school photos, many of the images are icons with the initial of the person's first name, similar to how users appear on Zoom calls when their camera is turned off. Similarly, on a page highlighting the Future Farmers of America club, there is a screenshot of a packed Zoom call rather than an in-person group photo.

Covid really changed everything, @milaabandzz writes. People in the comments largely agree with the statement, adding a mix of reactions to the startlingly different yearbook pages. Cue the back in my day you had to turn the camera ON for picture day,' someone jokes. Another person advises, This yearbook will be iconic in 40+ years don't ever lose it! There were many that found the images sad, particularly the emphasis on Zoom meetings: a reminder of how isolating those school years were for teenagers. Others admired the ingenuity of the design, sa...

Supermassive Black Hole Speeding Through Universe Is Creating Stars

Supermassive Black Hole Speeding Through Universe Creates Stars

Black holes are famous for their gravitational power. The celestial phenomenon draws in matter with a powerful gravitational force through a process called accretion. This powerful force can even destroy stars by ripping them apart. NASA has recently discovered a surprising twist on this classic narrative. A supermassive black hole, ejected from its own galaxy, has been streaking across the universe, actually forming stars in its wake.

Yale University professor Pieter van Dokkum spotted a streak of light in a Hubble Telescope archival image. What he first thought was a cosmic ray turned out, through further research, to be a trail of newly formed, young stars. They form a trail across 200,000 light-years. Van Dokkum announced his findings in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, attributing the trail's creation to a runaway supermassive black hole. The trail leads from a compact star-forming galaxy to a bright knot. According to the paper, a mixture of star formation and fast shocks makes up the trail. The researchers postulate the supermassive blackhole may have escaped from the center of the galaxy and is now, quite literally, on the run.

The black hole is moving at a whopping 4 million mph across space. This unusual speed may contribute to the black hole forming stars rather than destroying everything it encounters. We think we're seeing a wake behind the black hole where the gas...

100 US Servicemen Killed by UFOs ? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Image result for tucker carlson

According to Tucker Carlson almost 11 years ago he was contacted by a professor from Stanford University. He specialized in the study of brain trauma, particularly in soldiers. Apparently Carlson is also a specialist in brain injury as well. What the professor told Tucker next blew his mind! There were 100 court cases being litigated against the US government for active servicemen who had been killed by UFOs!

A SAC (Strategic Air Command) base incursion

Many of us are aware of the UFO landing within US military bases and even in Western Germany. In the 1970s an alarming number of US missile defense bases sighted UFOs hovering over their launch facilities remotely knocking out warheads of nuclear missiles by deactivating the computers within the warheads. I wrote a story and had it published in the Plano Star Courier back in 1995 on how Sergeant Jerry Johnson, part of a fast strike security team was alerted to secure a point of breach within the center of Whiteman Air Force base in Knobnoster, Missouri, a SAC Base housing the Minute Man missiles. In 1968, a huge air base that was almost a self-contained city within itself was the scene of a landed UFO.

The unknown calls

Children of base officers headed home from school witnessed a hovering craft glide along the grounds scouring all vegetation from the soil and then settling beneath a tree where they saw it accelerate straight upward at terrific speed leaving damage to the tree. Jerry and his armed team descended on the location to cordon off the area and begin interviewing the witnesses. According to what he knew the base radar never picked up the object when it violated the forbidden air space of the missile facility. Nothing but high ranking brass were out there trying to figure out what had happened. Jerry and his team were assigned to keep an all-night vigil on the landing site, and in his words, they did not want to see it come back!

What kind of technology?

Apparently Jerry was lucky. As 100 US troops and air base personnel who have seen a UFO land, approached the unknown aerial object, and suffered severe brain trauma as a result! Its well known that many US combat helicopters...

A New Chapter Of The Bible Was Found Hidden Inside 1,750-Year-Old Text "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

It has been discovered that the Bible has a new chapter that was concealed inside a translation of the Gospel of Matthew that is 1,750 years old.

Grigory Kessel, a medievalist, utilized ultraviolet photography on the manuscripts that were housed in the Vatican Library in order to uncover the missing chapter.

As part of the Sinai Palimpsests Project, in which researchers try to recover manuscripts that were erased and written over by scribes between the 4th-12th centuries CE, the concealed text was discovered. Due to the lack of writing materials at the time, palimpsest manuscripts were rather frequent.

The text showed up when illuminated by UV light. Image credit: Vatican Library

These types of manuscripts include repurposed prior text that has been washed or scraped off. However, it is possible to retrieve text that was written hundreds of years later by fluorescing the manuscripts or exposing them with various wavelengths of light.

Researchers have previously decoded 74 manuscripts using similar techniques, but the most recent discovery was especially significant since it included a translation that was a century older than the earliest Greek translations, including the Codex Sinaiticus.

The tradition of Syriac Christianity knows several translations of the Old and New Testaments, Kessel said in a statement. Until recently, only two manuscripts were known to contain the Old Syriac translation of the gospels.

According to IFLS, the translation, which was first composed in the 3rd century CE and duplicated in the 6th century CE, has not yet been revealed in its entirety; nonetheless, it provides a li...

Onramp Bitcoin Launches First Multi-Sig Spot Bitcoin Trust "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The trust will utilize three separate key holders to offer the benefits of multisignature custody to institutional investors.

Onramp Bitcoin has launched the first-ever spot bitcoin trust product that employs multi-party custody. This product is tailored to high-net-worth individuals, corporations and institutions seeking to gain exposure to bitcoin, according to a press release

The trust product will utilize three institutional-grade key holders, a qualified custodian named Kingdom Trust, and Bitcoin custody service firm Unchained Capital, to ensure that the custody of client bitcoin has no single point of failure.

Onramp is the first trust to leverage a multi-signature setup, requiring a quorum to move funds. The product is designed for those who want exposure to bitcoin without the tradeoffs of full third-party custody, but who are not yet ready to take on the responsibility of full self-custody.

According to the press release, Onramp's solution is also intended to address the limitations of existing Bitcoin fund vehicles, including single-point-of-failure custody, taxable events on withdrawal and lack of Bitcoin focus and education.

The trust will have a Bitcoin-only focus with a commitment to education and advisory services to help clients excel during periods of volatility, the press release describes.

The product will also offer segregated accounts with the ability to take possession of the underlying bitcoin without incurring a taxable event.

Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama has become a household name, and it's no wonder why. Her unique vision of immersive installations and polka-dot-covered objects cannot be mistaken for anyone else, and to this day, her exhibitions are among the most visited around the world. Recently, the 94-year-old artist made another landmark accomplishment, with five of her artworks selling for a total of $22.9 million at a Sotheby's auction in Hong Kong. These prices are among the highest paid for Kusama's art throughout her long career.

The auction took place on Wednesday, April 5, and is the first time works of these kinds were sold in a public auction in Asia. Among the purchased pieces was Pumpkin (L), a massive bronze pumpkin sculpture, embellished with Kusama's signature polka dots, which was created in 2014. This work alone went for $7.98 million to an anonymous phone bidder. Similarly, a pumpkin painting, titled A-Pumpkin, was sold for an impressive $7 million.

However, the most unusual work to be sold at this auction was My Heart is Flying to the Universe, made in 2018this is in a similar vein to her Infinity Mirror Rooms which are exhibited around the globe. It features a mirrored box with LED lighting and a small opening for viewers to peer inside. The final price for this piece was $3.29 million, and while that is impressive, it is also notable for being the first work of this kind to be sold at a public auction in Asia.

For now, Kusama's record-high auction purchase of $10.9 million for her Infinity Nets is unbroken, but we ar...

An Endearing Fawn Searches for the Sun in an Enchanting Picture Book Illustrated by KAA "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A vibrant illustration of a fawn drinking water out of a stream.

All images Kaa Illustration, shared with permission

A stunning picture book written by Joanna McInerney and illustrated by KAA follows a small fawn who embarks on a beguiling journey in an effort to chase the sun. Traveling through lush forests, groves of cherry blossom trees, wintry hills, and sunflower fields, readers accompany the young deer on his poetic journey to stop and smell the flowers.

In The Fawn Who Chased the Sun, Ho Chi Minh-based duo Phung Nguyen Quang and Huynh Kim Lien, a.k.a KAA, envision a whimsical world that translates into flourishing illustrations. Transporting readers into an exuberant environment, KAA incorporate various patterns inspired by William Morris along with surreal elements such as oversized flora and towering frogs.

The duo first creates detailed sketches, which Quang scans and hands over to Lien to begin the digital coloring process. Highlighting seasonal shifts through different palettes, they encourage the reader to enjoy the journey through multiple perspectives as the environment changes. We have tried so many new perspectives and colors that we never used before in this book, and every experiment brought us joy while drawing it, the illustrators tell Colossal.

Woman Reunites With Birth Mother 34 Years After Being Given Up For Adoption "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Woman Reunites With Birth Mother 34 Years After Being Given Up For Adoption

screenshots of emotional tiktok video showing a woman reunited with her birth mother after 34 years

Photo: Screenshots from TikTok

It sounds like something straight out of a movie, but an Utah woman who has been actively searching for her birth mother for over a decade finally found and reunited with her. Rachel Ruiz shared the emotional encounter on TikTok, where it has amassed over 4 million views. I finally reunited with my birth mom after 34 years! she captioned the video. My adoption was closed and Ive been trying to find her for over 10 years with failed attempt after failed attempt. The obstacles keeping them apart made their serendipitous reunion all the more moving.

In 1988, Angie Howard gave birth to Ruiz when she was only 17 years old and put her up for adoption after two weeks. Given the customs at the end of the 1980s, her adoption was closed, meaning that her adoptive and birth parents maintained their privacy and had no way of learning each others identity. The information given to the the adoptive family was very limited. They knew their babys birth mothers height, hair color, religion, education level, and hobbies, but nothing that could help actually identify or locate her.

Ruiz's parents never hid the fact that Rachel was adopted. My parents were open about telling me from a young age that I was adopted, so it wasnt a secret and I never felt as though I wasnt their daughter, she says. When she turned 18, she even received two symbolic gifts that were handed over during the adoption process: a knit blanket and a letter from her mom, written when she was born. In the letter, Howard wrote that she hoped they'd reunite someday. After reading her birth mother's words, she felt compelled to look for her. I wanted to show her that this decision was a good one and that I was happy and healthy, Ruiz told...

Is There Room for Care at an Art Fair? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

CHICAGO What is the relationship between care and curating? It is in the word, after all. Thats the question posed by Renaud Proch, executive and artistic director of the Independent Curators International (ICI), at the opening of the 10th edition of Expo Chicago, which kicked off yesterday, April 13. The organization partners with the fair to provide professional development opportunities for some 70 invited curators and museum directors from the US and around the world. Inspired by this proposition, I took to the floor to see if I could find evidence of care here at an art fair, notoriously a site for that most mercenary of art world considerations: sales.

A Radically Honest Conversation About Surviving Depression | The Glenn Beck Podcast | Ep 181 "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

Husband and wife Aaron and Teana Elmer have lived through the devastating realities of bipolar disorder and suicide attempts. Aaron says he used to be high-functioning. He took all AP classes, and at 17, he graduated from high school. He went to college, did really well, was independent, ready for life, hard-working and consistent. After a trauma event at 18, everything flipped, and his brutal battle with mental illness began. Teana, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, has always been Aarons greatest advocate. She knew when they met what she was signing up for and gives a raw account of what its like to be married to someone diagnosed with mental illness. This episode answers many of the most difficult questions that people are facing. What are depression and bipolar disorder? How do people suffering from them act? What do people get wrong about those diagnosed with a mental illness? Can we even help? Most of all, can a marriage survive it? Aaron and Teana have no doubt: Through faith in God, anything is possible.

Faunwoods Adorable Menagerie of Miniature Ceramic Critters Is Primed for Adventure "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A photo on a white backdrop of a ceramic critter with another on its back

All images courtesy of Antler Gallery, shared with permission

Eugene-based artist Miranda Zimmerman, a.k.a. Faunwood, brings a playful ceramic menagerie to Portland this month for Slither, a nearly sold-out solo show at Antler Gallery. Informed by Faunwoods background in evolutionary biology, the adorable creatures meld art and science and are miniature renditions of amphibians and mammals, all stylized with the artists use of wide eyes and mottled glazes. The hand-sculpted characters are expressive and reflective of the organisms real-life anatomy, and their unique dispositions emerge through the firing process. Every ceramic critter I make comes out of the kiln with its own little personality and sass, sometimes completely different from what Im expecting, the artist writes on Instagram.

Slither is on view through April 23, and you can find more from Faunwood on her site. (via Supersonic Art)

Zero Waste Living

The climate crisis affects everyone, and we all need to do our part to help mitigate the detrimental effects its having on our planet. While many of the solutions lie in the hands of governments and public policy reform, there are things that we, as individuals, can do to lessen our negative impact on the environment. One of the things we can all strive for is to live a zero-waste lifestyle.

So, what is zero waste? It's the practice of reducing the amount of waste you produce in your daily life to nothing. (Imagine throwing nothing away.) Being zero waste is great for the environment, especially as landfills are full and its becoming increasingly difficult to find new places to dispose of our trash. By reducing the amount of waste we produce, we help conserve resources and reduce pollution.

Opting for zero waste is also great for your wallet. Choosing reusable items over disposable ones often has a larger up-front cost but will save you money over time. A reusable water bottle, for example, is more expensive than a single bottle of water. But, when you think about how many bottles of water you won't have to buy in the future, it adds up.

If the idea of zero waste is intimidating, that's okay! Dont let it dissuade you from even trying in the first place. Its extremely difficult, especially in our culture of mass consumption, to live without making waste; disposable plastics and convenience items are everywhere you turn. Going zero waste isnt about being perfect, but rather making small changes that add up over time.

To get started, scroll down for some tips for zero-waste living.

Zero waste is the practice of reducing the amount of waste you produce in your daily life to nothing. Here are 13 tips to help you get started.

Bitcoin Magazine to Auction Historic Magazine Covers As 1 of 1 Inscriptions "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Historic 1/1 Ordinal inscriptions of the first 23 covers printed by Bitcoins oldest publication are up for grabs.

Bitcoin Magazine is launching its first-ever Ordinals collection, "Bitcoin Magazine Historic Covers." The collection features 1/1 inscriptions of the first 23 covers ever printed by Bitcoin Magazine, representing the publication's journey from its founding in 2012 to Bitcoins 10th anniversary in 2019.

The collection will be sold in a trust-minimized Dutch auction on the Gamma marketplace on Saturday, April 15. The launch will showcase cutting-edge auction technology in the Ordinals market that leverages partially-signed Bitcoin transactions (PSBT) to minimize trust in the auction process. Gamma will be releasing this technology with Bitcoin Magazine as a launch partner, providing buyers with a transparent and trust-minimized buying experience and ensuring the release of the inscription to the winning bid is automatic through the rules of the Bitcoin protocol.

Bitcoin Magazine Historic Covers collection offers a unique and limited-edition representation of Bitcoin Magazine's journey and captures the spirit of the Bitcoin community and the evolution of the Bitcoin landscape from the early days in 2012 until Bitcoins 10th anniversary in 2019. Each winner of a Historic Cover inscription will also receive a physical copy of the Bitcoin Magazine issue they purchased, further highlighting the unique history and scarcity of these publications.

David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, said, "We're experimenting at the edge of Bitcoin innovation and venturing into uncharted territory. We're thrilled to offer our readers and the Bitcoin community a chance to own a piece of Bitcoin history."

What Are The Akashic Records? "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Akasha (a-ka ska) is a Sanskrit word meaning ether: all-pervasive space. Originally signifying radiation or brilliance, in Indian philosophy akasha was considered the first and most fundamental of the five elements the others being vata (air), agni (fire), ap (water), and prithivi (earth). Akasha embraces the properties of all five elements: it is the womb from which everything we perceive with our senses has emerged and into which everything will ultimately re-descend. The Akashic Record (also called The Akashic Chronicle,) is the enduring record of all that happens, and has ever happened, in space and time.   ~ Ervin Lazlo This passage comes from the book Science and the Akashic Field written by two time Nobel Peace Prize nominee Ervin Lazlo, wherein the ancient Indian concept of an all-pervading and all-encompassing element or field (akasha), containing all experiences, events, and knowledge, both in objective and subjective expression, from the past, present, and future (as probabilities), receives modern scientific validation across a range of disciplines, including microphysics, cosmology, psychology and biology. Laslow discusses recent scientific discoveries showing that this Akashic field is real and has its equivalent in the zero-point field of quantum physics, which underlies space itself and is teeming with both energy and information. This primordial vacuum or void is believed to have pre-existed the Big Bang itself, and continues to be the underlying substrate for everything in the universe, connecting all things known and unknown, across unimaginably vast distances, making possible the faster-than-the-speed-of-light transmission...

The Climate Collapse Thesis "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

This article was originally published by Max Borders at The American Institute for Economic Research.

In 2003, someone leaked a secret Pentagon report warning of the dire consequences of climate change.

Disruption and conflict will be endemic features of life, it reads. Once again, warfare would define human life.

The reports authors offer dramatic examples, including the claim that catastrophic shortages of potable water and energy would lead to widespread war by 2020. Britain would have winters similar to those in Siberia as European temperatures drop off radically by 2020.

In 2017, there was a war in Yemen. But it wasnt all that widespread. And Yemenis experienced water shortages, but not war due to a shortage of water.

Britain underwent milder winters in 2015, and there were slightly colder winters in the five years prior.

So 2020 came and went.

Of course, a credulous press, eager to propagate the dire warnings, had been happy to report what turned out to be false predictions. In other words, we never did get catastrophic water shortages and permafrost in Britain. How could the authors have gotten things so wrong?

To give you a better idea, lets zoom out.

Imagine were in a low intellectual orbit, high enough to get a wide shot but low enough to see some things. From this macro perspective, we want to evaluate a set of claims about climate change that we must connect to form a coherent theory. Lets take some familiar premises from what we might term the Climate Collapse Thesis and view them in their totality.

To accept the Climate Collapse Thesis that climate change ought to be seen as the number one potential driver of catastrophe we have to accept all of the following hypotheses:

  1. The earths atmosphere and oceans are warming.
  2. The earth is warming primarily due to emissions like carbon dioxide and methane, generated by people engaging in production, trade, transportation, and energy use.
  3. Scientists can limn the most important phenomena associated with a warming climate, and disentangle human causes from natural ones, extending into the distant past.
  4. The data gathered and then aggregated by the scientists are overwhelmingly error-free, and the scientists operate free of biases when packaging and presenting their data. (This special group of scientists suffers neither from a peer-review nor a replication crisis, and they are immune to the perverse incentives of government funding.)
  5. Even though individual scientists are working separately on different aspects of climatology and related fields, they can stitch these diverse aspects together into one complementary dataset, s...

Her Jaw Is Wired Shut. Is She Wrong For Not Wanting To Cook Dinner Every Night? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

In most households, one person probably ends up doing more of the cooking. That said, I would guess that one person would rather not have it be a daily chore and thats in the best of times.

In the worst of times, partners are supposed to be there to cover each other and relieve burdens, but this man doesnt seem to have gotten the message.

OP had to have jaw surgery and has been on a liquid-only diet for several months. Still, shes been preparing 3 meals a day for her son and dinner for the whole family, even though shes unable to really eat any of it.

I (40f) had jaw surgery in November, and have had my jaw wired shut ever since. Im mostly surviving on Ensure, blenderized soups, smoothies, and baby food. Its been tough. During this time, I have continued to make my childs breakfast every morning, make his lunch for school, do the grocery shopping, and make dinner most nights. Honestly, its torture.

My husband (40) works full time, and doesnt really feel like cooking when he gets home. I get it, but at the same time, making dinner every night, and having to watch and smell it cook when I know I cant eat it is awful. (And I know there are lots of ways to blend proper meals, but by the time I add enough broth, juice, etc. to make it drinkable, its disgusting.)

She confessed to her husband how hard this has become and asked him to cook at least a few times a week, but he refused since shes home on medical leave.

The other night, I asked if he could make dinner at least a few nights a week, and he got pretty offended. He said that since Im not working (Im on medical leave), its nice to come home to dinner being ready and not having to rush to start it.

OP thought she would force...

How To Use The Foundation Passport Batch 2 To Secure, Mix Your Bitcoin "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

This guide explains how to use the Foundation Devices Passport Batch 2 hardware wallet for securing and mixing your bitcoin.

The Passport Batch 2 is the second-generation Bitcoin hardware wallet from Foundation Devices. Passport is built in the U.S., air gapped and utilizes open-source code. In this guide, you will see how simple self custody can be with a device like this, the differences between the Founders Edition and Batch 2 of the wallet and a walkthrough of select, advanced features.

Self Custody Made Simple

Self custody means that you are in control of your private keys: this is how you maintain unrestricted access to your bitcoin. By extension, unrestricted access to your bitcoin means that you can send or receive bitcoin with anyone in the world for any reason at any time. You don't need anyone's permission, you won't be held against any financial institution's moral standards and nobody can stop you from making the transactions that you want to make.

With great power comes great responsibility, however, and self custody also means that you are taking radical responsibility for your bitcoin. You and you alone are responsible for managing your private keys in a way that allows you to access them, but not your adversaries. There is no 1-800 help line, there is no reversing of transactions and there is no one who can help you recover lost or forgotten information. This may sound intimidating or complicated, but tools like Foundation's Passport make self custody very simple and relatively easy to manage.

Passport makes it possible to self custody your bitcoin on a cold-storage device; this way, your private key is kept on a device that never makes a connection to the internet. Through the use of QR codes to sign transactions and the accompanying Envoy app, using the Passport to receive, secure and send bitcoin is easy and intuitive, even without an internet connection directly to the device.

Unboxing

Passport is shipped in a nondescript white box. There will be a shipping label (peeled off for privacy reasons in this demonstration) and a blue, tamper-evident seal on the outside of the box. The tamper-evident seal will be placed over the opening flap of the box and the seal will have...

As a result of many knife terror attacks which happen where I live, I tried many knife defense techniques and wanted to share what worked the best for me with people who are interested in the subject.

I would be happy to expand my knowledge about other topics of survival of which I know very little.

One particular consumer is responsible for 70% of the Hunter Valleys wine economy and without this consumer, veteran winemaker Mike De Iuliis is bracing for the worst.

Im really worried that without this consumer, the Hunter Rivers going to run pink with undrunk ros.

We doubt there could have been a better way to break the news, and its over to Jess, now, for confirmation.

If you attended a seder this month, you no doubt read aloud from the Haggadah, a Passover tradition in which everyone at the table takes turns recounting the story of Exodus.

Theres no definitive edition of the Haggadah. Every Passover host is free to choose the various retellings, or even take a crack at writing their own.

As David Zvi Kalman, publisher of the annual, illustrated Asufa Haggadah told the New York Times, The Haggadah in America is like Kit Kats in Japan. Its a product that accepts a wide variety of flavors. Its probably the most accessible Jewish book on the market.

Her Sister Is Living With Her For Free. Is It Wrong To Expect Her To Babysit? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

I feel like weve seen a few posts like this, where parents expect free babysitting in exchange for one favor or another, but without clearing that expectation with the babysitter in question first.

Most of the time this definitely doesnt go in favor of the parents who just assumed, but other times, like with this post, they might have a point.

OP has taken in her sister, who is in college, because she was having roommate trouble and needed to move out quickly. They live in a different state from their parents, so she had nowhere else to do.

The sister doesnt pay any rent or anything like that, though she does contribute some to food and groceries.

I (f30) live with my husband (m31) ans our son (m5), my sister (f22) is still in college and has to move out with us three months ago because she had some issues with her roommates. Things were going fine until this argument, also she doesnt work but my parents send her some money for textbooks and groceries although she barely ever has contributed to the household since she moved in with us.

We also live in a different state from our parents and family so Im basically throwing her in the streets by kicking her out which would make me a big asshole.

Recently, OP and her husband ran into a babysitting snag with their 5yo. Their regular sitter had some health issues and needed to quit on short notice, which left the couple high and dry during the few hours between school and when they finished work.

So, my son comes back from school at around 3pm/3:30. My husband works until 6 and I work until 5 although sometimes I have to stay an hour or two extra (this is not normal, maybe three or four times per month when were behind in a project). We had a babysitter that would wait until hes back (he comes back...

Horrifying 1906 Illustrations of H.G. Wells War of the Worlds "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

War1

H.G. Wells War of the Worlds has terrified and fascinated readers and writers for decades since its 1898 publication and has inspired numerous adaptations. The most notorious use of Wells book was by Orson Welles, whom the author called my little namesake, and whose 1938 War of the Worlds Halloween radio play caused public alarm (though not actually a national panic). After the occurrence, reports Phil Klass, the actor remarked, Im extremely surprised to learn that a story, which has become familiar to children through the medium of comic strips and many succeeding and adventure stories, should have had such an immediate and profound effect upon radio listeners.

War5

Surely Welles knew that is precisely why the broadcast had the effect it did, especially in such an anxious pre-war climate. The 1898 novel also startled its first readers with its verisimilitude, playing on a late Victorian sense of apocalyptic doom as the turn-of-the-century...

Show With 17 Unknown Bands That Will Break up Within a Year Rebranded as Festival "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

TAUNTON, Mass. An overbooked Saturday matinee show at the Taunton American Legion featuring over a dozen unknown bands is being rebranded as Weapons of War Fest, confirmed promoters who made sure their band plays during the best slot of the day.

We wanted to keep the show pretty small so we only had eight bands playing, but then hype really started building and I was booking hardcore bands from here all the way to Franklin, said Shane Muldowney, fest organizer and guitarist of Pain Principle. Since there are so many bands we decided the best way to get everyone paid is to really push people towards the merch table, the only problem is only two of the bands on the show have shirts, and everyone else is still in the process of recording a demo. So some of the bands are going to sell some of their dads old records and hope thats enough to cover gas.

Bands playing the fest have been hard at work with promotion in order to get the biggest turnout possible.

I told my parents, my girlfriend, and two of my neighbors who definitely said they might come. This will be our third show, and this time we are playing about eight minutes of our own material and then about six Cro-Mags covers, said Owen Celia, lead singer of recently formed hardcore band Sanctity. Im not sure how many people we can draw that will actually pay, I already promised a few people I could get them in for free, they just need to come early and carry an amp or two. I heard one of the bands playing has a brother that dated a girl who lived with someone that knows a rep at Rise Records, so this will be good for networking.

Local scene historian Salty Sam OLeary says local shows often suffer from too many bands being added.

Ive seen this too many times. A young kid finally gets the guts to pony up $750 to rent out an event space and then he goes ham inviting every band on the eastern seaboard to play, said OLeary. Most of these bands will break up in a few months, then they will start new bands with people they met at the shows and suddenly flyers will be saying things like featuring ex-members of some bullshit nobody gives a dick about. Getting some of his deposit back is the best this kid can hope for, but someone will most likely break a window or set a curtain on fire.

Update: During our reporting Weapons of War Fest added another 12 bands and a second day at a different location 45 minutes away.

Every The White Stripes Album Ranked "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

Its hard to imagine what the state of Indie Rock would be today without the arrival of the White Stripes. Their minimalist classic rock approach paved the way for great bands like The Strokes, while their heavier riffs inspired shittier ones, like Royal Blood. Whether youre a burgeoning guitarist that loves to play loud and dirty, or a talentless white guy on the internet debating whether or not Meg White is a good drummer (she is), the White Stripes have likely made an impact on you since their inception 25 years ago. Ahead of their potential induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we present a ranking of their albums that definitely wont anger anyone.

6. Get Behind Me Satan (2005)

This should honestly rank higher for being so bat-shit crazy, but its mostly a bore. Yes there are some classics, but thats what Greatest Hits compilations are for. Get Behind Me Satan marks the proverbial beginning of the end for the White Stripes, where the playful Willy Wonka persona of Jack White started to become his actual personality. His head was so engorged by past praise he had to wear a goofy-ass top hat to keep it contained. This album was released at a time in which the Stripes could do no wrong. Jack challenged this notion by putting, like, five songs on the record where the main instrument is a goddamn marimba.

Play It Again: Red Rain
Skip It: The Nurse

5. De Stijl (2000)

The title of this album is a reference to the 1920s minimalist art movement of the same name, and the contents of this offering are about as bland as that sounds. Jack and Meg divorced shortly before this album was recorded, which was such a traumatic experience for Jack...

Special Edition of Skinamarink Contains Blooper Reel "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

LOS ANGELES Experimental horror movie director Kyle Edward Ball revealed the special edition of his film Skinamarink will contain a much-anticipated blooper reel, confirmed sources who couldnt wait to make an ending explained YouTube video for it.

At the end of the day, these bloopers are open to interpretation, and its up to the viewer to determine whether theyre funny, said the director of the analog horror film. Theres one where the dad inadvertently steps on one of the many Lego pieces with his bare feet and writhes around in pain while the crew points and laughs uncontrollably. Then theres another where the production assistant accidentally turns on a light so the audience can momentarily see everything thats going on in the frame. Then of course theres that one where the demonic voice coming from upstairs improvises the line whazzup like from that old commercial. We almost used that take too. Safe to say, it was hard to keep a straight face while making this film.

Fans of the motion picture are pumped for the supplemental content.

This movie and its special features contain everything I love: obscure horror, unnerving cinematography, and actors fucking up, said film enthusiast Craig Chambers. The blooper reel surprisingly had a more coherent narrative and plot than the actual film itself. Honestly, I know these gags arent for everyone, but you really have to see the reel in the theater to get the full experience. Not to mention these are the most groundbreaking cinematic goofs Ive ever seen on screen. I dont care if critics are calling it pretentious. Go see the blooper reel.

Film critic Nance Claiborne was all too familiar with bizarre movie extras.

There have been plenty of low-budget horror movies throughout history that have had special features you wouldnt expect, said Claiborne. For instance, the DVD extras of The Blair Witch Project contained a good 80 hours of deleted scenes that included cast members meticulously setting up their tents in complete silence as well as a fourth member of the group that died of hypothermia early on. Also, the extras for Paranormal Activity curiously had a commentary track from the sets food caterer. Horror filmmakers really like to get strange with their work.

At press time, Bell revealed that the special edition will also contain alternate endings, including one where the whole thing was a dream and the family is seen ordering appetizers at their local Applebees.

Poser Mozart Fan Wasnt Even At The Theater auf der Wieden in Vienna for The 1791 Debut of Die Zauberflte "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

VIENNA, Austria Self-proclaimed hardcore Mozart fan Ted Zarusky is facing criticism due to the fact he only started listening to the composer sometime within the last 20 years, according to Vienna Scene sources.

Ive been listening to Mozarts entire catalog since I was in seventh grade, said a very defensive Zarusky. And Im not talking about Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, K525 or Piano Sonata in A, K331. No, Im talking about shit you never hear the National Symphony Orchestra even touch like Maurerische Trauermusic, K477 and Piano Duet Sonata in F, K497. Just because I wasnt at some show doesnt mean Im not fully committed. I have all the recordings, even the early stuff he put out on tape through Gib ihnen den Stiefel Records. Plus, Ive been to his birthplace twice.

Local Austrian classical scene legend Brad Drestin is one of the many people skeptical of Zaruskys fandom.

We knew this guys story the second he walked into town, said Drestin, who has been gatekeeping classical music for the last 28 years. These assholes come in thinking theyre immediately one of us just because they read some shit article online and memorized the Kchel catalog. But this scene isnt about having a Ph.D. in music, this is about being there and supporting the scene whether concerts are happening in a music hall, or a palace garden. This is about being a part of history. And was this Ted guy there? No, he wasnt even there on that late summer night in 1791. Fucking poser all the way.

Musicologist Analise Mller of the Mozarteum University Salzburg is baffled by the whole discussion.

Mr. Zarusky is just listing compositions in Mozarts career, but its so scattershot, its like listening to someone recite a Wikipedia page, said Mller. And Drestin, good god, has this guy ever read a music history book in his life? Why would anyone pick this moment as the moment in Mozarts overall career? Within a few months of this show, Mozart would die, he barely did anything after The Theater auf der Wieden show. I mean, I could see maybe the early exhibitions of 1762 at the court of Prince-elector Maximillian III of Bavaria or Ill even give you the premiere of Mitridate, re di Ponto at the Teatro Regio Ducale in 1770. But anything after he signed with Prince-Archbishop Hieronymus Colloredo in 1773 is just corporate bullshit, total fucking sellout.

At press time, sources indicated Mller was out kicking in skulls at a Tchaikovsky show in Moscow while Zarusky and Drestin were consoling each others bruised pride.

How to Build a Dollar Store Dental Kit for Your Bug Out Bag "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

By the author of Preppers Natural Medicine and Prepping for a Pandemic.

Do you have a dental kit for your bug-out bag? Ive seen a lot of great bug-out bags loaded up with all manner of tacti-cool gear, tiny first aid kits stuffed into Altoid tins, and ultralight camping supplies. Thats wonderful and all, but wheres the dental kit?

For new preppers, a bug-out bag (BOB) holds the supplies you need to evacuate from your primary location to your (presumably safe) secondary location. Your bag is intended to get you from Point A to Point B.

Your Bug Out Bag Needs a Dental Kit

Since you arent living long-term out of your BOB, you may not think that dental supplies are as important as other supplies, like a good knife or paracord. After all, whatre a few days without brushing your teeth going to hurt, right?

Mouth pain is no joke. Imagine you ended up with some food stuck between your teeth. I find that wildly irritating and have to get it out. Otherwise, the gum swells, becomes tender, and sometimes bleeds. Food can stay stuck there, rotting, causing bacteria to breed like rabbits. Next thing you know, you have an infection.

If you think mouth pain is miserable now, imagine it post-SHTF, with no access to a local pharmacy and no local dentist. Why deal with that, when simple brushing and flossing can dislodge that bit of beef jerky from your teeth?

Heres another example for you. You are bugging out, and while eating, a cap breaks off or a filling comes out. If you have the right supplies, you can fix that and get on with your bug out. Hopefully, there is a dentist where you are going. And hopefully, that dentists office and still has power. But, imagine having to finish your bug out with an open cavity in your mouth.

You could fall and end up with a wound in your mouth, lose a tooth, or a half-dozen other things that are prevented by regular, daily dental hygiene. If this is going to be a long-term bug out, daily hygiene becomes even more important to prevent cavities, gum disease, and infections.

Dollar Store Dental Preps

Everyone gets strapped for cash once in a while. Some of us pinch pennies more often than others. While wholesale clubs and buying in bulk may give you the best deal for your dollar, not everyone has the cash up front to pay for a 5-pack of family-sized toothpaste. Never mind that the family-size toothpaste is way too big for a bug out bag anyway.

While I have dental kits for our familys emergency bags already, I decided to try a dollar store prepping experiment.

  • First, I would raid my local dollar and discount stores for dental hygiene supplies.

A clip from Dawsons Creek has resurfaced on Twitter and people are confused and amazed "IndyWatch Feed Satire"

We admit that were a bit too old to have watched the vastly popular American teen-drama Dawsons Creek when it first aired, but that certainly doesnt prevent us from marvelling at this 7-second clip taken from the series, which has just gone viral on Twitter.

Its not so much the content of the excerpt which is attracting attention (someone being smacked in the face with a basketball), but rather the manner in which it was filmed. A directorial accident or perfectly designed camerawork? Whichever it was, it definitely looks very painful indeed.
