Bitcoin Magazine Launches El Salvador Cover Edition Ordinals Giveaway "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Bitcoiners will have the opportunity to show how much they disrespect banks and love Bitcoin while potentially earning a Cover Edition ordinal.

Bitcoin Magazine has launched a "Disrespectors" giveaway with the potential to win an El Salvador print magazine Cover Edition ordinal, along with a copy of the magazine. The company is inviting members of the Bitcoin community to participate in a creative media contest that evangelizes Bitcoin while dissing its incumbent competition such as banks, financial institutions and central banks.

To participate in the campaign, Bitcoin community members need to join the Bitcoin Magazine Discord and invite their friends, then publish creative media on Twitter such as photos, drawings, posters, stickers or videos that convey the campaign message, "Bitcoin will replace the banking system."

Examples include putting Bitcoin stickers on a fiat ATM or a bank's door or window, flipping off the Federal Reserve building with a Bitcoin Magazine in hand, or giving a Bitcoin Magazine to a banker or central banker inside the institution.

The campaign's launch date is April 25, 2023, and the submission deadline is May 9, 2023. Each cover to be given away has been manually plastic-wrapped and identified with a unique, numbered sticker. To be eligible to win, entrants must join the Bitcoin Magazine Discord, then create and publish content on Twitter, and use the hashtag #Disrespector in their content.

There are two ways of getting an El Salvador Cover Edition ordinal: inviting users to the Discord and putting out good social media content. The top 10 people with the most invites to the Bitcoin Magazine Discord by May 9, 2023, will each win one El Salvador Cover Edition, while the top 10 pieces of content disrespecting banks in favor of Bitcoin will each win one El Salvador Cover Edition.

"Bitcoin Magazine has three overarching ordinals collections. The first and already launched is the Historic Covers collection, which represents our flagship collectibles that honor the original, one-of-a-kind Bitcoin Magazine print run. Both the print and digital versions of those magazines and covers are limited edition and will never be reissued or re-inscribed," the launch announcement read. The Redux Collection, mirrors the print collection on our store and features the magazines issued since the company restarted printing in 2021 Finally, there is Bitcoin Magazines artistic ordinals collection, Cover Editions. This collection is the artistic branch, which houses additional ordinals that arent 1/1 inscriptions. The inscriptions in this giveaway are part of this collection."

Shiba Inu Lead Dev Touts Go Mode, Will Price Follow? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Shytoshi Kusama, the pseudonymous lead developer of Shiba Inu, has shared an exciting message with the SHIB community in the official Shibarium Telegram group today. It comes at a time when the SHIB price is facing a make-or-break moment, as NewsBTC reported yesterday.

Exciting Updates For The Shiba Inu Community?

The lead developer was responding to a user of the group who pointed out that the last Medium update on the ongoing development of the layer 2 network was made a while ago. Kusama responded that the project is progressing rapidly and that members of the Shiba Inu community already have plenty of updates:

I think the army has plenty of updates as the chain activity and all the tokens are very public. Were in go mode, not bro mode.

What exactly Kusama means by this can only be speculated. In the last medium update on Shibarium, he announced that the layer-2 technology will be released on the mainnet before the end of 2023. However, an exact date is not yet known. The latest comment by Kusama suggests that significant progress is currently being made towards the mainnet launch.

On the other hand, the Shiba Inu lead developer could just be hinting at the progress being made throughout the ecosystem. Bone Shibaswap (BONE), the governance token of the Shibaswap ecosystem, recently received a listing from the major crypto exchange OKX. In addition, Kusama recently announced the forthcoming release of ShibaSwap 2.0 in a Telegram message.

Remarkably, it is not uncommon for Kusama to use metaphors to announce progress in the Shiba Inu ecosystem. Even before the numerous encrypted messages. Just yesterday, Kusama stated that he was working with Shiba Inu team members to achieve the impossible.

SHIB Price Still Faces Make-Or-Break Moment

The deep correction in the crypto market has caused the Shiba Inu (SHIB) price to break down an ascending triangle pattern that has been developing since early March. Now SHIB is trading near the crucial support level at $0.00001005.

If SHIB breaks this level to the downside as well, the uptrend that started earlier this year would be in jeopardy. SHIB needs to stay in the trading range between $0.00001005 and $0.00001151 to avoid a break of the trend in the higher time frame.

If the bulls fail to defend the trading range, a decline to $0.00000965 would be the most likely scenario before SHIB could possibly fall back to the $0.00000855 price level.

Currently, a symmetrical triangl...

Artist Paints on Garments To Turn Them Into One-of-a-Kind Fairytale Dresses

Hand Painted Dresses by Sylvie Facon

From blooming flowers to a library of books, Sylvie Facons dresses bring enchanting storybooks to life. Based in France, she combines embroidery, beading, and painting to create one-of-a-kind garments that look like works of art.

Due to the level of detail in these magical gowns, it should come as no surprise that they can take hundreds of hours to complete. This is because Facon has to use her skills to embellish delicate fabrics such as tulle and silk with her illustrations. In one dress, for instance, a garden of purple flowers grows from the bodice, blooming into the straps that keep the dress in place. Another features a painting of a scenic place, which is made three-dimensional through stitching and beading.

Typically, Facon contains the most detailed elements of her designs to the bodice of the dress. However, she usually tries to connect the art that is placed there with the gown below. Oftentimes this means matching the colors, creating a pleasing transition from one section to another. This can be seen in her book-inspired garment, which makes it look like the model is wrapped in a library. Facon cleverly divides the skirt into panels. each one embellished in such a way that it looks like the spine of a book.

You can find her dresses available for purchase via Facon's website, and keep up to date with her latest creations by following her on Instagram.

Artist Sylvie Facon creates dresses that are straight from a fairy tale.

Will AVAX Price Get A Lift From Avalanche NFTs? Lets Examine The Metrics "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

AVAX, the native token of Avalanche blockchain, has been making headlines lately as the Avalanche NFT transfers soared to record figures in the month of April alone.

As the blockchain world continues to expand, the surge in NFT transfers on the Avalanche network raises a burning question Will this help AVAX price go up?

Lets explore the possibilities.

AVAX NFT Collections, dApps Gain Traction On Avalanche Network

The AVAX token is set to benefit from the latest surge in NFT transfers on the Avalanche network, which has seen over 2 million NFT transfers in April alone, five times greater than March.

This trend can be attributed to the blockchains fast and low-cost transactions and scalable platform, which has made it a preferred choice for NFT creators and collectors.

The surge in Avalanche NFTs can also be traced to the popularity of blue-chip AVAX NFT collections such as Chikn and Doggerinos, which have experienced significant volume spikes in recent months, according to AVAX NFT Stats.

The growing interest in the Avalanche network has also translated into a rise in activity on dApps such as Trader Joe, a leading DEX on the network.

As a result, the Avalanche network has seen a substantial increase in transaction volume and quantity, suggesting that AVAX is poised to gain further traction in the blockchain and crypto space.

In the past month, Trader Joe has seen a 184% surge in the number of unique active wallets on its platform, reflecting the increasing demand for decentralized trading on the network.

The future appears promising for the AVAX token, as more users explore the platforms potential for NFTs and dApps.

Polygon Exchange Supply Spikes, More Downtrend Incoming? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

On-chain data shows the Polygon exchange supply has seen a sharp spike recently, something that could lead to a further downtrend for the asset.

Polygon Exchange Supply Rises As Whale Makes 60 Million MATIC Deposit

According to data from the on-chain analytics firm Santiment, around 7.92% of the entire MATIC circulating supply is on exchanges now. The relevant indicator here is the supply on exchanges, which measures the percentage of the total Polygon supply thats currently being stored in the wallets of all centralized exchanges.

When the value of this metric rises, it means the investors are currently depositing a net number of coins into exchanges right now. Since one of the main reasons why holders may transfer their MATIC to these platforms is for selling-related purposes, this kind of trend can have bearish implications for the price of the cryptocurrency.

On the other hand, decreasing values of the indicator imply withdrawals are taking place on exchanges currently. Such a trend may be a sign that investors are accumulating the asset at the moment, and hence, can be bullish for the price in the long term.

Now, here is a chart that shows the trend in the Polygon supply on exchanges over the last few months:

Polygon Supply on Exchanges

As displayed in the above graph, the Polygon supply on exchanges (colored in red) has seen a sharp jump during the past day, suggesting that these platforms have received a large amount of the asset.

In total, this inflow spike saw around 60 million MATIC entering the wallets of the exchanges. The source of this deposit looks to have been a single whale entity, which is in fact one of the largest holders of the cryptocurrency.

The cryptocurrency transaction tracker service Whale Alert has also caught the transfer and has revealed that the transaction was coming from a wallet attached to the Polygon staking service, and its destination was the cryptocurrency exchange Binance.

Top Whistleblower Dr Rima Laibow Warns Globalists Preparing New Bio Attack "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Longtime whistleblower, Dr Rima Laibow joins Alex Jones to talk about the genocidal COVID Hoax, which has been decades in the making, according to the elites she used to treat, who used to tell her about it. She asks:
How is this possible? How can every single nation in the world, 196 nation-states; how could every single one of them sign on to destroying their people? To giving up their sovereignty? To eliminating any kind of personal informed consent? How can any country do that and how is it that EVERY one is doing that? The actual the source of the evil, the organization, the destruction comes from John D Rockefeller Sr and his son, John D Rockefeller Jr. Before the turn of the 20th century, the worlds first billionaire, John D Rockefeller Sr and his son, Junior thought about the society they wanted to see. Now, these men were genocidalists, they were eugenicists, they were ruthless, they were psychopaths. They had the realization that they could use predatory philanthropy to shape every aspect of the world. And they laid out the world that they wanted to see which is the world the Globalists are now moving towards. The social movement at that time was called Fabian Socialism, it was not called Globalism but it was the same thing: Utter, total domination, from the DNA level, out. They paid for the science and they directed the science and they used philanthropy and government influence, which they bought and which they created over decades and decades, worldwide. They penetrated every government on the planet and they created the science that would allow them to take control of our DNA, to turn us into parts of the Internet of Things; their servants, their underclass, their Untermenschen and leave them at the top, the neoaristocrats. This plan has been in operation, waiting only the science of genetic manipulation, pulsed microwave transmission, nanotechnolgy, etc. And now, they have the science and theyre ready to go.

Susannah Carson Evokes the Amorous Tradition of the Lovers Eye Through Antique Plate Paintings "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Two painted figures peer out from antique serving plates

All images Susannah Carson, shared with permission

On vintage serving ware and ornately decorated plates, artist Susannah Carson renders fragmented portraits of women who peer out from the center of the vessels. The oil paintings evoke the Georgian tradition of the lovers eye, sentimental miniatures depicting the facial features of a spouse, child, or family member often found on jewelry of the time. These tiny works would also allow the wearer to obscure the exact identity of the subject, making them ambiguous keepsakes for affairs and other clandestine activities.

For Carson, this amorous practice becomes the basis of inquiry as she imagines her lively characters, their stories, and how they connect to the history of such unconventional canvasesan avid antique collector, shes currently working on an illustrated guide on the process, as well as a series of paintings paired with the antiques they depict. Blending past and present, her pieces highlight the unknown, whether the lineage of the vessel itself or the identity of the subject. She explains:

Im interested in painting as not just an optical illusion, but as an illusion of lifeof otherness, of richness, of engagement, of that delicate connection we have with other beings which allows us to feel, for a moment, not so alone. With compositions highlighting the gaze, these subjects tell us their stories with a single look and ask for us to tell them our stories in return, thereby creatingunlike the alienation of much modern arta welcoming intimacy.

Polygon (MATIC) Continues To Plunge; Why Are The Bears Still Dominant? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Polygon (MATIC) is below the $1 mark today as the bears continue to pressure its price. From April 19, 2023, it moved into a downtrend gradually to its current price level of $0.966 today.

The recent price volatility and decline experienced by Bitcoin and Ethereum seem to have a ripple effect on other tokens in the market. However, MATIC remains above its January 1 price of $0.76 despite the decline, holding onto most of its gains.

Nevertheless, a sweep of previous lows remains possible if the bears maintain their charge. Investors and the general crypto market hope the current decline is a minor correction, not a downtrend similar to the crypto winter of 2022.

Will MATIC Pivot Off The $0.9321 Critical Support Level?

Some major cryptocurrencies are in a downtrend, excluding a few altcoins with minor gains. The impending US rate hikes and other factors, such as rising bitcoin mining difficulty, could affect the market negatively.

Related Reading: Floki Inu Joins Binance.US And Surges By 50% As Investors Pile In

Polygon ranks number 9 on the list of cryptocurrencies and is a platform for Ethereum scaling. Also, with the recent upgrades, users can create Optimistic Rollup chains and ZK Rollup chains as required by the developer. Its multi-functionality is one of the reasons its community is optimistic about a rally in the coming weeks.

MATIC is in a downtrend forming a third consecutive red candle on the daily chart with lower lows. It has dropped below its 50-day and 200-day Simple Moving Averages (SMA), a bearish trend in the short and long term. MATIC moved into the downtrend on April 19, forming a long red candle that closed below the 50-day SMA.

Also, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) is 31.91, descending into the oversold region of 30. It implies that the bears are in control of the assets price. However, MATIC is approaching the $0.9321 support level, which previously acted as a pivot point on January 1, 2023. MATICs RSI will move to the oversold region when its touches this level forcing the bulls to rally again.

Expect a price increase once the asset enters the overbought zone. The next support level is $0.7472; the resistance levels are $1.026 and $1.1914. Also, the $1 price level has become a psychological resistance point.

I know my husband cheated on me during the pandemic.

For some context, we were actually stuck apart for almost 2 years with covid, and at the same time I was also waiting for my green card which meant I couldnt visit him.

He overcame to visit me once during this 2 years and I saw he had a dating app on his phone. I checked the messages and there one lady on there, and it was obvious from the messages that they had met up for s**. It looked like it was only once and there wasnt a whole lot of messages.

I never confronted him about it and I dont really want to. Since Ive been in the states nothing else has gone on, and hes super attentive and loving and no dating apps on his phone or computer.

I feel that if I told him I know, or told any friends or family they would push for me to leave him or think I was an idiot if I didnt. We have a baby boy now and I would never want to disrupt his family life over something which I perceive to be a one night stand that didnt mean anything.

Pepe Coins Mega Rise Pinned To This Smart Contract Fix "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Pepe Coin (PEPE) is soaring and has become one of the most popular meme coins behind Dogecoin and Shiba Inu.

However, this wouldnt have been the case if the Pepe Coin smart contract deployer had not chosen to do what was good for the project and, by extension, the community. The team renounced the deployer contract, sending it to a null address.

Doing this meant no one could tamper with the smart contract and effect changes that could destroy the meme coins credibility.

Intervening For Credibility

According to curious online sleuths, the deployer of Pepe Coin smart contracts had god-like powers before changes were made.

For example, the team could limit the number of token transactions, modify the maximum token trading amount, the maximum position a trader can initiate, or even suspend trading of a given address. Moreover, the smart contract included a black listing function. Subsequently, this effectively empowered the team to bar certain addresses from holding and trading the token.

With this, observers noted that Pepe Coin, though popular, wasnt decentralized as many thought and project owners could, at any time, rug pull investors.

A rug pull is a common scam in decentralized finance (DeFi) where a team builds a project, in this case, Pepe Coin, convinces users to supply liquidity and buy the token. Afterward, the team leaves the project and sells their portion forcing prices lower and leaving investors holding mud.

The possibility of the team pulling out a rug pull was plugged when the deploying smart contract was sent to a null address on April 14.

The Rise Of Pepe Coin

Pepe Coin is a meme coin that has no utility. Instead, the team behind the project aimed to ride on Pepe the Frog, created in 2005 by Matt Furie. The meme coin project has no connection to Furie.

Pepe Coin was launched in mid-March and with little fanfare. There was no presale, and the total supply was 420.69 trillion. Days after launching, Pepe Coin exploded to be one of the most popular meme coins.

The token has surged to command a market cap of over $105 million. It has a slot in the top 300 projects by market capitalization, according to the coin tracker, CoinGecko

At the same time, 93.1% of all PEPE in circulation were sent to a liquidity pool in Uniswap, and liqui...

Her Parents Wanted Her To Believe In Santa. Her Aunt Told Her The Truth. Who Is In The Wrong? "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

While most kids spend at least some of their childhood believing Santa Claus is real, a majority realize the truth (or ask for it) by the time their age reaches double digits.

What should you do if your child reaches an age where theyre the last one holding onto the magic?

OP says you tell them so you can save them trouble at school, but the kiddos parents dont see the issue with continued blind faith.

Her niece is 13 and still believes in Santa with her whole heart. OP wondered if she might not be playing along or have some questions, but the parents said that wasnt the case.

I (F30) have a niece who is 13. Up until a week ago, she still believed in Santa. I asked her parents (my brother and SIL) if she was just pretending to still believe to not make them feel bad, or maybe to get more gifts or something, but they were adamant she still believed.

Last Christmas Eve I was at their house for dinner, and she kept saying things like Im so excited for Santa to come tonight and telling me everything she had asked him for and wondering what country he was in at that very moment.

She doesnt have any younger siblings, so its not like she was saying this for anybody elses benefit. She is a smart girl, does well in school, and has no developmental delays that I know of.

She just, for whatever reason, still believed in Santa at age 13.

They were happy to have her believe because it saved them some trouble, behavior-wise, and didnt want to give that up.

Her parents didnt seem to have an issue with it. They said they absolutely did not want to tell her the truth and ruin the magic of Christmas.

Plus they said it was beneficial for them because believing in Santa would encourage her to be good in the hopes of getting better presents/...

Total Ethereum (ETH) Locked Hits New Highs On Increase In Deposits Over Withdrawals "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Ethereum (ETH) has seen a surge in price throughout April, and this increase has corresponded with a significant milestone for Ethereums Layer 2 networks: the total value locked (TVL) has surpassed $10 billion as of April 14, according to L2Beat, an analytics and research website about Ethereum layer 2 scaling.

This marks a new record high for the amount of ETH locked on the Ethereum network since the Shapella upgrade. With the TVL of Ethereums Layer 2 networks hitting an all-time high, many are speculating about the potential for further growth and adoption of these companion networks.

After the Shapella Upgrade was put in place, the price of Ethereum [ETH] became more volatile. Still, the Ethereum network has gotten a lot of attention, as shown by the fact that most deposits have been made on its beacon chain. There have been more deposits compared to withdrawals on the networrk.

As more and more users turn to Layer 2 solutions to address the high fees and congestion on the main Ethereum network, it remains to be seen how this trend will continue to evolve in the coming months.

Nansens records show that since the Shapella upgrade, the amount of ETH locked on the Ethereum network has reached a new all-time high. As of April 24, the total amount of ETH locked was 18,879,775 ETH.

Ethereum Layer 2 Networks See Record TVL

TVL is a metric used in the cryptocurrency world to measure the amount of digital assets locked in various protocols or applications. It is often used as an indicator of the level of activity and demand within a specific DeFi (decentralized finance) ecosystem.

The TVL of Ethereums Layer 2 networks, which are complementary networks to Ethereum, also increased along with the rising value of ETH in April, peaking at a record high of $10 billion on mid-April.

Urine Wheels in Medieval Manuscripts: Discover the Curious Diagnostic Tool Used by Medieval Doctors "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

If you went to the doctor in late medieval Europe hoping to get a health complaint checked out, you could be sure of one thing: youd have to hand over a urine sample. Though it dates back at least as far as the fourth millennium BC, the practice of uroscopy, as its called, seems to have been regarded as a near-universal diagnostic tool by the thirteenth century. At Medievalists.net, you can read excerpts of the then-definitive text On Urines, written about that time by French royal physician Gilles de Corbeil.

When a skilled physician examines a patients urine, de Corbeil explains, health or illness, strength or debility, deficiency, excess, or balance, are determined with certainty. Urine darkened by a black cloudiness, and muddied with sediment, if produced on a critical day of an illness, and accompanied by poor hearing and insomnia, portends a flux of blood from the nose; depending on other factors, the patient will die or recover.

Bitcoin Wyckoff And Elliott Wave Predict This Next Price Move "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The Bitcoin (BTC) price has been trading in a range between $27,000 and $28,000 since Friday last week, with $27,800 currently being the most important resistance level to kick off a move to the upside. As recently as last Tuesday, BTC was trading above $30,000 before plunging more than 10%.

However, Wyckoff and Elliott Wave analysts agree that the move is not a cause for concern. According to trader and market psychology coach Christopher Inks, a minimum target of $42,350 is expected for Bitcoin as part of its next bounce.

Heres What Wyckoff Analysis Says About The State Of Bitcoin

The Wyckoff method was invented by Richard Wyckoff in the early 1930s and proposes to read the market using causal fundamentals that actually predict market movements. The accumulation and distribution schemes are probably the most popular part of Wyckoffs work in the crypto and Bitcoin community.

The models break down the accumulation and distribution phases into five phases (A through E), along with several Wyckoff events. Inks writes in his analysis that Bitcoin is most likely in an accumulation according to the Wyckoff method.

The Elliott Wave count may or may not be correct locally. We want to see an impulsive breakout above that ascending red dashed resistance to signal that the wave ((ii)) flat structure may be complete, but a breakout above wave (b) is required to add confidence to that count, writes Inks, who shared the chart below.

Bitcoin Wyckoff and Elliott Wave

If Inks count is correct, then another breakout has the daily pivot as its target. This means that the wave ((iii)) of 3 from here has a minimum target of $42,350 per Bitcoin. According to the analyst, this theory is also supported by the fact that the RSI on the daily chart is currently showing a hidden bullish divergence, with confirmation that it is complete still pending.

Stephen King Recommends 96 Books for Aspiring Writers to Read "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Kings novels sure looked like those other lurid, pulpy books, and at least his early works mostly fit a certain formula, making them perfectly adaptable to Hollywood films. Yet for many years now, as hes ranged from horror to broader subjects, Kings cultural stock has risen far above his genre peers. Hes become a serious writer and even, with his 2000 book On Writingpart memoir, part textbooksomething of a writers writer, moving from the supermarket rack to the pages of The Paris Review

Floki Inu Joins Binance.US And Surges By 50% As Investors Pile In "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Floki Inu (FLOKI) is barking up a storm in the crypto world with news of its listing on Binance.US. As excitement grows, the value of FLOKI has surged by almost 50% in just one day, with gains of nearly 10% in the past week, making it one of the most talked-about cryptocurrencies in the market.

With FLOKIs current price at $0.00004099, investors and meme enthusiasts alike are eagerly awaiting what the future holds for this beloved crypto.

Could Floki be the next big thing in the world of crypto?

Floki Inu: Recent Price Gains and Increased Attention

While Floki Inu is just one of many similar meme coins, its recent price gains and increased attention have set it apart from the pack. In February 2023, FLOKI saw a surge of more than 40%, thanks in part to the continued support and interest from Tesla and Twitter CEO and meme coin enthusiast, Elon Musk.

Despite these gains, FLOKIs current value is still well below its all-time high, which occurred in November 2021 when Musk named his dog after the cryptocurrency. However, Floki Inu has continued to gain traction and was recently listed on two prominent exchanges, BigONE and BitForex, in addition to Binance...

  • Apostate Prophet Blasphemes Hinduism

https://twitter.com/ApostateProphet/status/1647861778049556480?s=20

A recent episode of the Atheist Republic New Show delved into the fierce backlash ex-Muslim creators, including Apostate Prophet, have faced from Hindu fundamentalists. The controversy began when Apostate Prophet, a well-known ex-Muslim content creator, tweeted an AI-generated image portraying the Hindu monkey god, Hanuman, in a manner that some Hindus found offensive. This sparked a range of reactions, with some even resorting to hate-filled and derogatory language towards Apostate Prophet, even assuming he was a Muslim. The Atheist Republic team shed light on the extreme reactions from the Hindu fundamentalist community, including threats of violence and harassment not just towards the critics but also extending to their families. Unwavering in their commitment to counter the hate and vitriol from the Hindu far-right, they plan to also stand in solidarity with those who bravely defy Hindu fundamentalism.

Location: India

A shocking news story from the Indian state of Gujarat has been making headlines worldwide. It's the tragic tale of a couple who took part in a gruesome sacrificial ritual that ended with their own decapitation. According to reports, the couple, 38-year-old Hemubhai Makwana and his wife, 35 years Hansaben, had been offering prayers in their hut every day in the past year. They even created a guillotine-like device at home specifically for this ritual. On the night of April 15th, the couple prepared a fire altar before putting their heads under the device held by a rope. When they released the rope, an iron blade fell on them, severing their heads, which rolled into the fire. It's worth noting that fire is considered sacred in Hinduism and often plays a vital role in worship rituals. Between 2014 and 2021, India recorded 100 incidents of ritual human sacrifice.

People Will Never Forget These Absolutely Cringe Weddings "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Theres something about weddings that people just love to hate. The romance, the love story, the party, the memories all of those should be great and fun, right?

Macaroni was only redeemable thing, when i went to scoop there was hair in it. Very sad.

Long ago I worked at a banquet hall and witnessed a fully NASCAR themed wedding. During the reception they played the audio of the proposal going out over the PA at the track. It was fully unintelligible. BZZT GABBAGBGA MRRRY MEZZZZZ RROOOOOWWWVROOOM.

Other highlights were the owner locking himself in his office to avoid the brides father because he was threatening him to haggle on the costs.

In the end we had to call the police because the bride in gown climbed over the bar to steal more sweet sweet MGD after we had closed the taps and the event was over.

I just cringed for them.

At the reception, the groom and his groomsmen sung a god-awful

Italian archaeologists uncovered two marble altars from the lost city of Puteoli, an Ancient Roman trade hub partially swallowed by the Gulf of Naples. Seismic activity capsized parts of the Roman outpost; a contemporary Italian city named Pozzuoli stands on the shore of the same Mediterranean cove.

Ancient Greeks founded Puteoli around 600 BCE. It became part of the Roman Empire and served as a vital trade hub for luxury goods and grain from Alexandria, Egypt.

The recovered altars were part of the Temple of the Nabataeans, according to the Italian Ministry of Cultures April 11 announcement. The ministry stated that archaeologists have long known the approximate location of the submerged temple, but only recently were they able to decipher its exact resting place.

2,500-Year-Old Mummified Lizards Found in Ancient Egyptian Coffins "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

fascination with mummified remains and ways to violate them, researchers were able to discern the species of animal remains that were preserved for over 2,500 years in Ancient Egyptian votive boxes (interchangeable with animal coffins) from the British Museums collection without even opening them. The research team from the British Museum and the Science and Technologies Facilities Council (STFC) was able to identify mummified animals from six sealed votive boxes made from metal through the application of neutron tomography after a prior study yielded very murky X-ray results.

The process of neutron tomography is quite similar to that of X-ray radiography: A beam of neutrons is projected at the sample in question, dissipating as it passes through the materials of the samples composition to create two- and three-dimensional renderings of its interior. However, compared to X-ray radiography, neutron tomography is better implemented when the samples in question are made from metal hence why it was employed for a secondary analysis of the six cast-copper alloy votive boxes from Ancient Egypt.

Los Angeles as a Cultural Stir Fry "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

LOS ANGELES This city is neither a melting pot nor a salad. A cultural melting pot implies that the cultures blend and merge into one, making them indistinguishable from each other. A cultural salad implies that that the cultures remain distinct, even while creating a singular whole that can be interesting because of the combination.

Los Angeles is, instead, a good stir fry mixing, merging, blended flavors and ingredients that maintain distinctness while invariably changing each other. And like a good stir fry, the recipe for being an Angelene varies by family.

Los Angeles artist Amir H. Fallah, who arrived in the city by way of Tehran and then Turkey, understands this deeply. In Cowgirl, a large circular painting that contains the eponymous figure, Fallah combines a range of symbologies into a stir fry that feels at once of the city and a challenge to what the city represents.

For the artist, the exhibition text explains, the flourishing flora around this tondos perimeter serves as a metaphor for the American promise of fertile soil and opportunities for all. Alongside the anime-like cowgirl, a Black Panther logo, a traditional West or South Asian figure, and a gilded horse a...

Berlin Zoo Elephant Learns to Peel Bananas by Itself and Is Even Picky About Their Ripeness "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Berlin Zoo Elephant Learns to Peel Bananas by Itself and Is Even Picky About Their Ripeness

Person feeding a banana to an elephant

Photo: dani.ronneberg/Depositphotos (Not the actual elephant.)

The cleverness of elephants has captivated scientists and animal lovers alike for decades. They are smart observers with excellent memories, and their intelligence doesnt stop there. Elephants are also adept learners. This was recently made abundantly clear by a gentle giant named Pang Pha at the Berlin Zoo. The Asian elephant has learned to peel bananas, much to the amazement of the zoo staff.

While it may sound like a cool trick Pang Pha has been trained to do, the elephant is self-taught, as nobody directly showed her how to open a banana. It is thought, however, that the animal picked up the ability after seeing her caretakers peel the fruit. Pha peels faster than humans by a partially stereotyped sequence of behaviors: she breaks the banana, shakes out and collects the pulp, and discards the peel, writes a group of scientists who published this curious behavior on Current Biology. Shaking and peeling are repeated until no or little pulp is left inside the peel and leftovers are checked multiple times with the trunk tip.

As if that weren't enough, Pang Pha doesnt settle for just any banana. The brilliant mammal is a picky eater with a high standard for the fruits shell consume. We would offer Pha bananas for weeks without her peeling a single one, the scientists point out. Thinking at first that she was rejecting some bananas at random, they started to notice a trend: her peeling preference varied strongly with banana ripeness. Pha never peeled green or green-yellow bananas, peeled some yellow bananas, 82% of yellow-brown bananas, and a...

President Biden's New Communications Director Owns $50k-$100k Worth Of Bitcoin "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

According to a disclosure, Ben Labolt owns at least one bitcoin, and will be unable to serve in relation to matters related to past clients.

President Bidens new communications director, Ben LaBolt, owns $50,000-$100,000 worth of bitcoin according to a regular disclosure filed. In addition, President Joe Biden has restricted the role of LaBolt in matters involving cryptocurrency and technology firms that LaBolt previously represented. The restrictions will apply to firms such as Meta Platforms, Haun Ventures and Shopify. LaBolt will, however, be permitted to advise on the presidents approach to regulating cryptocurrency and social media companies.

The restrictions imposed on LaBolt are consistent with rules followed by other senior White House staff.

The latest economic report from the White House which discussed Bitcoin for the most part wrote off the benefits of the technology, while simultaneously reflecting on the various properties that the Administration believes gives the U.S. dollar its value. While the latter was not wholly untrue, the former misrepresented the fundamental value of Bitcoin.

This came shortly after a roadmap was released that detailed the Administrations plan to investigate an American CBDC and how that may be implemented. The same report also addressed various challenges that the White House sees in the cryptocurrency industry, mainly in reaction to the collapse of FTX in 2022.

Beyond this, regulatory pressures from different agencies under the current Administration have led to major firms within the United States to potentially consider movement overseas, including Coinbase, the largest exchange in America. The U.S. would be much better off if the Biden Administration realized the capacity of the industry to create jobs and economic progress, along with the inherent benefits of Bitcoin adoption at large.

The imposing, fully functional structure, likely built in the 18th century and restored in 2012, is still used by local residents to store and protect their produce. We were raised on the tradition of storing our grains, dried fruit, oil and valuables there and we continue to respect it.

The granary, built with rammed earth, sits in the village center, protected by a fortified wall with a stone watchtower. In the past, during times of unrest and rebellion against the government, it offered a safe place for storage. Inside, 76 cubicles are arranged in three levels around an open courtyard with a water cistern.

There are stocks of barley, dates and almonds, but it is also used to safeguard documents like marriage and birth certificates, religious texts and contracts, and recipes for traditional medicine inscribed on palm stems.

The villages 63 remaining families use it; others have left, but they keep their archives here. Unwritten laws have kept these granaries sacred and inviolable spaces.

The challenge is to save Moroccos collective granaries, which have almost disappeared in Algeria, Tunisia and Libya.

Bowery Gallery Presents Adrianne Lobel: Reflections on a Pond "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

In Reflections on a Pond, her fourth show at the Bowery Gallery in New York City, Adrianne Lobel presents a new series of graphic and geometric paintings inspired by the landscape and its reflection on her pond in upstate New York. She works en plein air during the warmer months and takes the work into her studio in Hoboken in the winter, creating larger, cleaner versions of the outdoor sketches. Over the years, the work has become more abstract as she tries to compose the chaos of nature into something almost architectural.

Adrianne Lobel takes on the classic challenge of abstraction as she distills her experience of nature with carefully honed shapes. Varying color harmonies, lushly painted, signal the change of seasons and the time of day. Powerfully composed arrangements bring a tautness of design and a...

Breaking the Rules: Paul Wonner and Theophilus Brown Opens at the Crocker Art Museum "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

In reaction to the widespread pursuit of Abstract Expressionism in the late 1940s and early 1950s, several avant-garde artists in the San Francisco Bay Area began to reengage with the visible world, applying the gestural style of action painting to depictions of people, landscapes, and still lifes. Two such artists were Paul Wonner (19202008) and William Theophilus Brown (19192012), who met at the University of California, Berkeley, and stayed together for 56 years. Together, the couple aligned themselves with this new direction and became leading practitioners of the style known today as Bay Area Figuration. Throughout their lives, Wonner and Brown broke the rules of the times, professionally in their choice of subject matter, technique, and style, and personally as they lived openly as a couple despite the private and professional consequences.

Over time, in both Southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area, both artists works became less gestural and more overtly representational and, in Wonners case, increasingly detailed and precise....

In a novel that she had been trying to read the night before, shed read the description of a late spring day as a glittery day, and she thought of that as she was walking with her daughters, and the dog, up through the boulevards. It was turning from a warm into a hot day, even though it was still morning, and not yet summer. The dog was panting, and they took a break, to drink their bottles of water thrown underneath the stroller. There was something filmy to the skin of her daughters, she had dressed them that day in their lightest clothes, and later, she had promised, they could put on their swimwear at the local splash pad. Before leaving she had quickly pulled their hair off their faces, and now they kept on taking off their hats and handing them to her, and she would throw them in the bottom of the stroller. They needed to get their hair washed tonight, she observed, as she looked at them, their curls greasy with sunscreen. The children had decided they wished to dress alike, or in corresponding colors, and today they were wearing shades of yellow. They were mostly quiet, strolling down the street, the older daughter riding on the attached wooden platform with wheels that trailed behind the stroller that they called the skateboard. She had found a piece of dark yarn and was finger-knitting with it, which she loved to do, or tying a piece of yarn into knots, or wrapping it around and around a stick. It was beginning to be the kind of heat in which one went about in a daze. Sometimes the children wanted to get out to walk and she would hold their hands while their father pushed the stroller, which was laden with provisions for the day. It was such a beautiful walk that morning. The green of the bushes and the trees at this time of year seemed lush and overgrown. Because of this green canop...

Alaskan Photographer Captures Mysterious Spiral in Sky Among Northern Lights

Todd Salat Space X Spiral Aurora

SpaceX has been in the news for their failed Starship rocket launch on April 20, but a few days earlier, they were in the news for something much different. While astrophotographers have been getting images of SpaceX launches for years, photographer Todd Salat captured something really special over the Donnelly Dome in Alaska. Also known as the Aurora Hunter, Salat was out taking photos of the aurora on April 15 when a mysterious spiral appeared.

I was utterly surprised and mystified when I first spotted a distant bright light coming toward me from the northern horizon, he shared. At first, I thought it was a jet airliner flying through some clouds. Then it took on the spiral shape and grew big fast!

Salat couldn't believe what he was seeing and was left feeling a bit confused about what had taken place. Luckily, he was able to act quickly and capture the event so that he could share it with the world.

I was shooting frantically with two camera/tripod set-ups knowing that this was a unique event, and within about seven minutes, the apparition' swept by and disappeared. It was spellbinding! For the past two nights, I had been photographing auroras over this dome (Donnelly Dome) and hoping to catch something special. I got my wish!

Once Salat got home, he began doing some research and that's when he realized that what he'd seen in the sky wasn't natural. Just three hours earlier, in California, a SpaceX Transporter-7 mission launched on the Falcon 9 from the Vandenberg Space Force Base. The spiral is actually frozen rocket engine exhaust. When it catches the sunlight at high altitudes, it glows, and a spiral formation is created.

Salat wasn't the only one to get a glimpse at the rare event. The University of Alaska's Poker Flat Research Range has an all-night camera that also recorded the event. At around 09:50 UT mark, the spiral appears and then mysteriously vanishes ju...

Tranquil Pavilion Design Look Like Its Levitating Over the Water

Crystal Lake Pavilion by Marc Thorpe Designs

Photo: Visualization by Truetopia

When you get away, you really want to be away? If thats the case, then the Crystal Lake Pavilion might be the perfect place for you. The conceptual design by Marc Thorpe Design is proposed for the West Catskills region of New York. It's imagined as a space that is situated in the middle of a 32-acre body of water and is only accessible by boat. Perhaps its most striking feature, the building is designed to look like the entire thing is floating over the water, taking advantage of the serene surroundings.

Encircling the water is a 497-acre wild forest that is home to a variety of flora and fauna, so it's natural that the Crystal Lake Pavilion would be a place meant for reflection. Thrope envisions that meditation and yoga classes would happen there along with group therapy. But no matter the activity, it'd be a stunning view. The entire king post timber frame would be clad in transparent glazing intended to highlight the beauty of the scenery. It'd be situated on a central concrete post in the lake bed, which from certain angles would give the illusion that the building is levitating.

Although a concept for now, Thorpe's immersive space would certainly make anyone feel one with nature.

Pittsburgh-based photographer and self-proclaimed nemophilist Barbora Batokova has cultivated a deep passion for fungi ever since her childhood in the Czech Republic. Growing up mushroom hunting and foraging for hearty meals, Batokova shares the cultural nuances linked to moving overseas as she explains that the Czech Republic is a mycophilic country, which means people are not afraid of mushrooms, unlike people in mycophobic countries like the U.S.

Yearning for her roots, Batokova created fungiwoman, an ongoing photography and cooking project that allows her to reconnect with nature. Venturing into the woods year-round, she explores new regions, hunts for mushrooms, captures images to learn about different species, and brings the fruitful yield home to cook. Her mesmerizing photographs show small orange caps springing up from mossy grounds and vibrantly fruiting polypores branching from trees. Devoted to protecting precious corners of the woods, she hopes to inspire others to look closely at the surrounding environment.

Batokovas forthcoming book about mushrooms will be released in 2024, and she has prints and cards available in her shop. In the meantime, you can follow her Instagram to tag along as she traverses new thickets and shares her findings.

What is Money? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Money is crucial to regulating our lives and economies. Heres an essential guide to understanding money and its role in todays economic system.

Introduction

Money is something that most of us take for granted, as we use it daily to buy goods and services. We constantly transact in money, think in money and strive to earn more of it. However, few genuinely understand what money is, and even those who do often perceive it in very different ways.

Some say that money is a form of energy that can be transformed and exchanged. Others see it as a technological tool that facilitates trade and commerce. Still others argue that money is a social construct shaped and governed by cultural norms and values. All these views can be correct since the concept of money is much deeper than the way it is commonly framed.

Our perspectives on money shape our views on how we use it. Money assumes various forms, spanning physical tender, precious metals, bank deposits, credit and, more recently, bitcoin. The most recognized form of money today is physical tender, encompassing coins and paper notes, which are distributed by the government.

So, What is Money?

Money is, first and foremost, a means to transact, to purchase goods and services. This function is commonly referred to as a medium of exchange. It is a good you acquire not for its own sake but merely as a means to purchase another good.

  • Money is a market good, a good you acquire in order to acquire other goods. For this to happen, the market (sellers) must accept it as a medium of exchange.
  • Money is not a consumption good, goods that directly satisfy consumer wants and needs. (Examples: a shirt, a pair of shoes, bread, cola, etc.)
  • Money is not a capital good, which are physical assets that an organization uses to manufacture products and services that consumers will use later e.g., machines, tools, vehicles, buildings, etc.

How we conceptualize and understand money has evolved over time, and different schools of thought have emerged regarding its nature and function.

Karl Marx would say that money is the product of a commodity economy, where the source and nature of money are based on the labor theory of value, while Carl Menger, the founder of the Austrian school of economics, defined money as the relative ability for goods to be sold in a given market at a given time and price a goods salability. The most salable good is the good chosen to facilitate indirect trade based on the lowest rate of declining marginal utility.

Proponents of the Austrian school would say that the supply of money is either extremely durable in relation to...

Unit of Account: A Comprehensive Guide "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Unit of Account

Unit of account is the thing that measures the value of goods and services. It's an essential function for something to be [or become?] money. In simple terms, it is a standard measure of value, a common scaling system through which the value of products can be calculated and compared.

Countries typically have distinct units of account, identified as the national or regional currency, such as the euro (EUR) or the British pound (GBP). At the same time, internationally, the U.S. dollar (USD) is the unit of account that is mainly used for global invoicing and setting prices internationally.

Unit of account is one of moneys three universally agreed functions of money that Bitcoin Magazine is reviewing; the other two are store of value and medium of exchange.

What is a Unit of Account

A unit of account is whatever forms the standard measure for comparing prices with incomes or assets; it allows money users to assess the value of money and is the common denomination for transfer value across different types of goods and services. When a unit of account is defined by the same measure or denomination (such as a specific currency), its easier to compare the value of various assets and transactions.

Having a standard measure makes it easier to determine the value of two different items, such as the price of a house and a car. Knowing the cars cost and the houses price makes budgeting and transactions easier to assess.

It also allows us to process mathematical operations, such as calculating profits, losses and income, giving numerical values to what we produce, trade and consume.

Typically, what we identify as a unit of account is money in recent times, backed by governments and national currencies. Its what we use as a standard measure for all our daily transactions.

Money as a Unit of Account

Money as a unit of account is also used to measure a countrys economy. For example, the American economy is measured in U.S. dollars, the Chinese in yuan and so forth. Internationally, things tend to be simplified with the U.S. dollar as a unit of account, making it easier to compare different economies.

Money is the standard measure used in economics and financial markets to establish how much people can borrow or lend, and keep track of their assets value. Applicabl...

What is a Store of Value? A Comprehensive Guide "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Store of Value

The concept of a store of value refers to goods that are capable of retaining or increasing their worth over time rather than declining in value. This term is used to describe a mechanism that enables individuals to preserve their wealth without experiencing any loss in value over time.

It is one of the three functions of money that Bitcoin Magazine is exploring; the other two are medium of exchange and unit of account.

What is a Store of Value

A store of value is an asset, a currency or a commodity that can be trusted to hold its value over time; ideally, it doesnt bear much risk. Traditionally, people who are less tolerant to risk will invest in a store of value with an enduring lifespan, a stable demand and low volatility.

Fiat currencies are weak stores of value since they depreciate over time due to inflation. Commodities like bitcoin, gold and a collection of other monetary metals have good store-of-value attributes because they are relatively limited in supply and do not deteriorate over time, thereby maintaining their value.

Salability is the critical property that allows something to be freely used as money and defines a physical good or asset that can be quickly sold. To have salability, money must be divisible (scale dimension), transportable (space dimension) and durable (time dimension). When an asset possesses salability across time, we have a good store of value because it can be trusted to maintain its value into the future.

One benchmark often used to understand the store-of-value function is that the value of an ounce of gold happened to match the price of a high-quality mens suit. This principle is known as the gold-to-decent-suit ratio, and its roots can be traced back to Ancient Rome, where the cost of a top-of-the-line toga was said to be equivalent to an ounce of gold. After 2,000 years, the price defined in gold of a high-quality suit is still close to the price of an equivalent Ancient Roman toga.

Another example is the price of one barrel of oil in fiat versus gold. In 1913, one barrel of oil cost $0.97, while today its about $80. In contrast, one ounce of gold would buy 22 barrels of oi...

What is a Medium of Exchange? A Comprehensive Guide "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

Medium of Exchange

As societys structure and organization became more complex over time, the need for an evolving monetary system arose from the limitations of barter. Barter is not suitable as a means to exchange goods and services in an economic system larger than a tribe or family; barter was unsuitable for expanding societies that needed a more efficient method to exchange goods and services.

Hence, about 2,600 years ago, a new and more sophisticated medium of exchange emerged in Lydia a region recognized as modern Turkey and materialized with stamped coins to face the challenges of barter and facilitate trade.

A medium of exchange is an intermediary item that is widely accepted to facilitate the trade of goods and services between two parties. It is one of moneys three universally agreed functions, along with store of value and unit of account. A store of value is any asset that maintains its value over time without depreciating. A unit of account is a standard monetary unit that measures the market value of goods, services, economic activities, assets and liabilities.

Bitcoin Magazine takes you through the significance of money and its different spectrums. After exploring what money is and what underlines its value, we now dive into its primary functions, starting with the medium of exchange.

What is a Medium of Exchange

A medium of exchange is an intermediary instrument that facilitates the buying and selling of goods or services. In remote times, shells, whale teeth, salt, tobacco and other objects that occurred rarely in nature were employed. Nowadays, currencies are the most common media of exchange as theyre suitable intermediaries between the products or services people want to trade. Still, currency needs to possess specific properties.

The first medium of exchange coin was created by the Lydians, who hailed from Anatolia in modern-day Turkey. The coin was made of a gold and silver alloy to certify weight and purity and was stamped with images of merchants, landowners or other well-known entities.

While gold and other metals had likely already been used as a medium of exchange, the Lydians first issued official standardized coins that could be accepted as an intermediary good with a set value recognized as money. They thereby economized on the assaying of the unstamped coins, cutting out some transaction costs in dealing with monetary metals.

In our modern economies, governments must ensure that their currencies are made widely available to the public, that they are not easy to counterfeit and that they are available in sufficient quantities to satisfy public demand.

Why Is a Medium of Exchange Needed?

A medium of exchange allows us to tra...

NASA Footage shows  satellite firing laser beams to Earth "IndyWatch Feed Spiritual"

Picture
On Sept. 16, 2022, motion-sensing cameras set up by museum curator Daichi Fujii to capture meteors instead caught the laser beams of NASA's ICESat-2 satellite as it passed over Japan. It's the first time the ICESat-2 team has seen footage of the lasers at work in orbit.

The beams were synchronized with a tiny green dot that was briefly visible between the clouds. He guessed it was a satellite, so he investigated orbital data and got a match. NASAs Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite 2, or ICESat-2, had flown overhead that night.

ICESat-2 was launched in September 2018 with a mission to use laser light to measure the height of Earth's ice, water, and land surfaces from space. The laser instrument, called a lidar, fires 10,000 times a second, sending six beams of light to Earth. It precisely times how long it takes individual photons to bounce off the surface and return to the satellite.
Picture
Now, this is an example of a common laser beam used to measure the height of the ice, water and land surface of the earth from space but it also indicates that they may have the knowledge to use such technology as an energy weapon to shoot laser beams or microwaves from space when it comes to warfare, to carry out a staged alien attack, such as the infamous Blue Beam project or to attack individuals or groups in which people become sick, causing the infamous 'Havana syndrome'.

According to a financial expert, the indicators are all showing signs of an impending economic downturn and a United States recession. Chris Watling, chief executive of financial advisory firm Longview Economics, said this economic collapse could be just around the corner.

Whenever it happens, itll be just in time for the preplanned solution, a central bank digital currency. However, Watling said that the standard timeline for a recession is about happens when yields on shorter-dated securities rise above those for longer-term ones. As the curve first inverted in March 2022, the economic downturn could occur at any time.

Well just have to wait and see when the ruling class will decide to pull the plug, and Watling admitted its all about the timing.

The Endgame: Central Bank Digital Currency

yield curve] in the U.S., youve had a recession. So, I think its coming, its on its way. Its just a timing issue, he was cited as saying.103.1 basis points, which represented the largest gap between shorter-dated and longer-term yields since September 1981, when the American economy was in the early months of a recession, according to a report by RT.

Watling also warned of the equity markets are going to also be hit hard once the recession hits

They wont come through it unscathed in our opinion. Im not even sure about relatively. The reality is if you look at profit margins, they went to record highs in 2021 and a bit of 2022, and of course, when you have a lot of inflation around, you can get very good operating leverage so you can get record high-profit margins. When you get into recession, weve got to do a double hit on profit margins. Youve got to normalize them back to normal levels and then youve got to price in a recession, he explained.

Additionally, he claims that expectations for earnings are way to optimistic for all the indicators pointing to a deep and dark upcoming recession.

Why you shouldn't keep all your money in the bank. Back a few years when bank of America was having troubles before they quietly sold off pretty much everything west of I-27. They had pissed me off for the last time, charging me BS fees for no reason while I was in Afghanistan.
I had been saving my haz fire pay, family sep and additional pay for being tax free for about 8 months to get my roof fixed when I got back. So my bank account was abnormally swell.

Voxel Shops and Food Stalls by Shin Oh Tuck Traditional Malaysian Culture into Nostalgic Renderings "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

A digital voxel rendering of a tiny cubic food stall

Nasi Lemak, 126 Voxel Hawker Stalls. All images Shin Oh, shared with permission

Illustrator Shin Oh nestles childhood memories of visiting traditional Malaysian shops and food stalls within tiny three-dimensional renderings, placing the immense affection she feels for such spaces in small confines. Part of two companion series titled 126 Tiny Voxel Shops and 126 Voxel Hawker Stalls, the digital works are made with voxels, or volumetric pixels used for building in popular video games like Minecraft and Roblox. Whether depicting a bakery or dim sum stand, Shin constructs each stall uniformly with two walls and soft color palettes because nostalgic memories are warm, and hawker stalls always give me fuzzy warm feelings as they serve affordable and great food, she says. The hawker centre is hot and stuffy, too.

126 Tiny Voxel Shops was the first of the pair, which Shin created for a group exhibition in 2021. During the pre-production phase of this project, I had conversations with my mother about the shops that we used to visit back then, she shares. I listed down as many shops as possible and filtered the list down to ten shops I think have unique visual characteristics that people can immediately recognize when they see them. Included are both ubiquitous and rare sights, like a tailors studio and a well-stocked biscuit store. There is no...

Taiwan Has Tilted Mailboxes as a Reminder of Its Resilience and Hope "IndyWatch Feed Arts"

Taiwan Has Tilted Mailboxes as a Reminder of Its Resilience and Hope

two taiwanese mailboxes bent by a hurricane, one green and one red

From sweeping landscapes to intricate buildings, Taiwan is an island nation that many tourists frequent. That's why it can seem odd that one of their most famous landmarks are two humble mailboxes. Located in the Zhongshan District in the city of Taipei, these unique mailboxes have captured the public's imagination thanks to their appearance. Unlike most mailboxes, these two, known as Little Red (or Xiao Hong ) and Little Green ( Xiao Lu) are severely bent. But beyond it's cute-looking tilt, they also tell a much deeper story.

Due to its location, Taiwan is prone to typhoons, as it is usually hit by three or four cyclones a year. In 2015, a particularly bad one known as Typhoon Soudelor struck the island. During the storm, a billboard got loose due to the heavy winds and hit the mailboxes. While it bent their posts, it didn't tear them down.

After the storm was over, citizens of Taipei came across the newly leaning mailboxes and fell in love with them. Not only did they look adorable, but they were also a symbol of resilience and survival. The new attraction seemed to say, You can strike us, but we'll stay on our feet with a smile on our face.

Social media quickly caught wind of these new landmarks and people began visiting them. It wasnt long before they started staging fun photos with the new landmarks, using forced perspectivesimilar to the way tourists pose in Italy with the leaning tower of Pisa. This led authorities to embrace the symbolism of the mailboxes, and instead of repairing them, they added a plaque telling their story in Chinese, Japanese, and English.

Crypto Analyst Explains Why XRP Will Not Fall To $0.10 "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

XRP price is trading sideways alongside most cryptocurrencies in the market today. The coin had been trading above $0.5 until April 21, when a bearish wave pushed it below $0.45 to $0.43. The token has witnessed a slight recovery above $0.46 today.

As a result, crypto enthusiasts fear a further decline in XRP. Notably, a prominent crypto analyst shared a post responding to his friends forecast of XRP slumping to $0.10, but Egrags response was that technical indicators on XRP price dont support such a price decline.

No Technical Indicator Supports Dropping To $0.10, Says Egrag

The ongoing market-wide downturn has caught up with XRP, its price has been gaining momentum over the past few weeks. The coin succumbed to the bearish trend, pushing it to lose its past weeks gain by 9.87%. This downturn has stirred reactions among the crypto community, with people, including Egrags friend speculating a drop back to $0.10.

However, Egrag reacting to his friends forecast, said it was a wrong call. The analyst shared some technical insights for XRP in response to the friends prediction. Egrag noted that XRPs movements aligned with his predetermined technical indicators like the Fibonacci targets. And no technical indicator or Fibonacci targets support the idea of Ripples native coin price correction to $0.10.

Egrag said his friends forecast seems more like a personal speculative opinion than an analytic insight. He further noted that while a price correction to $0.10 is possible, the probability is slim and not as low as his friend speculates. Nevertheless, sudden regulatory enforcement could stir up such a price drop for XRP.

Egrag argued that while crypto assets have some immunity against bearish economic events, their prices are still susceptible to unforeseen occurrences. Therefore, any notable XRP price decline to $0.10 would rather be due to a regulatory action instead of mere market forces.

So, Egrag concluded that a price fall to $0.10 for XRP is technically impossible without unfair regulations. He encouraged the XRP Army to remain steadfast in support of the token as a significant price correction presents a buying opportunity.

XRP Price Outlook

Meanwhile, the XRP community anticipates the summary judgment for the Ripple vs. SEC lawsuit regarding the tokens status as a security.

Mapping Africatown: Albert Murray and his Hometown "IndyWatch Feed Literature"

Map by Donna Brown for Library of America, with input from Paul Devlin. Based on a map drawn by Albert Murray in the 1950s or 1960s.

Circa 1969, the writer Albert Murray paid a visit to his hometown on the Alabama Gulf Coast, to report a story for Harpers. Murray hadnt lived there since 1935, the year he left for college. During his childhood, elements of heavy industrysawmills, paper mills, an oil refineryhad always coexisted with wilderness, in the kind of eerily beautiful landscapes that are found only in bayou country. But as an adult, Murray was aghast to see how much industry had encroached. The fabulous old sawmill-whistle territory, the boy-blue adventure country of his childhood, he wrote, had been overtaken by a massive paper factory: a storybook dragon disguised as a wide-sprawling, foul-smelling, smoke-chugging factory. He imagined that the people who had died during his years away had been victims of dragon claws.

When Murray made this visit, he was in his early fifties and and was still at the beginning of his writing career. He hadnt yet published a book. But over the next several decades, he would go on to write prodigiously, channeling into singular prose his memories of his old neighborhood before the arrival of the dragon.

The resulting work is a bildungsroman that unspools across four novels: Train Whistle Guitar (1974), The Spyglass Tree (1991), The Seven League Boots (1996), and The Magic Keys (2005). All four were reissued by the Library of America in 2018 (following a 2016 edition of Murrays nonfiction). They share certain themes in common with other novels about boyhood, from ...

WARNING! What Happens When America Gives Up God | Jonathan Cahn | The Glenn Beck Podcast | Ep 182 "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

People often talk about how the Left has embraced politics as its new religion. But Minister Jonathan Cahn, who authored The Harbinger, takes it a step farther. His latest book, The Return of the Gods, shows how the radical transformations of society today are part of an ancient pattern. Most of us can sense the evil spreading. We can tell that our society is sick. One mistake we make is the idea that the people devoted to destroying us are unhinged. They are, in a certain sense, but there is nothing irrational about what theyre doing. Theres something supernatural happening, and Jonathan blames the evil gods Baal, Ishtar, and Moloch. Jesus put an end to these ancient evils. But now they are returning, and America is leading the way, driven by the exploitation of children, the destruction of marriage, and the ubiquity of pornography. Their hidden pagan symbolism has begun emerging into plain sight, from Pride parades to rainbows and humans becoming like the machines and the animals. Jonathans solution is simple. Following the guidance of Jesus, he says, Dont be timid with goodness, dont be timid with your love.

Praveen Mohan is known for his groundbreaking research on ancient history, archeology, and extraterrestrial theory. Traveling widely around the world, his initial work on ancient mysteries began in Peru, posting his findings online about Nazca lines and Machu Picchu. In the first half of 2014, he began posting videos about ancient megalithic structures of India. His YouTube videos about Ellora caves and ancient machining technology have been aired on TV shows and documentaries. His findings are radical and show deep insight into understanding ancient texts and symbology. He recently discovered India's oldest sundial, explaining how to decode Hindu symbols step by step. In September 2016, he made his first appearance at Ancient Aliens TV Show on the history channel. Even though his footage has been widely used before on many TV shows and documentaries, this was the first time he personally appeared on air. Praveen keeps his personal life secretive, never discussing it on camera. On Ancient Aliens show however, he revealed that he grew up in a strict Hindu family, which helped him to read Indian scriptures extensively. During his interview with Author Ed Grondine, Ed revealed that Praveen's hometown was Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Little is known about how he manages to travel around the world independently. Even though he replies to most of his fans, he never reveals anything about his personal life. In October 2016, Praveen revealed that he was doing a long-term expedition in India exploring ancient structures, and showed a glimpse of remote caves which have not been visited in the last few centuries. After 6 months of inactivity, he has begun posting new videos, revealing many startling secrets hidden in Indian temples and caves. He has also raised awareness about unprotected ancient temples and has asked people to come forward to help them get protected. Praveen currently has over 100,000 subscribers and nearly 30 million views on YouTube.

Losses Dominate Crypto Over The Weekend, Has The Bear Market Returned? "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

<p class="p2">The crypto market was hit hard during the weekend as prices from Bitcoin to altcoins fell rapidly. During this time, there was also a decline in the trading volume and momentum in the market, which was partly responsible for the losses recorded. Now, with the new week, there is still a lot of skepticism in the market as Bitcoins decline below $30,000 could mean that the bear market is back in full force.</p> <h2 class="p2">Crypto Fear & Greed Index Remains Neutral

One thing that highlights how investors are feeling when it comes to the market is the Crypto Fear & Greed Index. This index takes into account things such as social media sentiment, market momentum, volatility, etc, and with this, it provides a score based on a 1-100 scale.

Now, on this index, 1-25 marks extreme fear, which is when investors are very wary of the market. 26-50 is the fear territory but with less wariness from investors. 51-75 is greed, a region that shows investors are more likely to invest in the market. And finally, 76-100 is extreme greed when the euphoria is the highest in the market, usually seen in bull markets.

However, the 48-52 levels are usually reserved for the neutral level which is where the index currently sits. At this level, investors are usually reeling from a price surge or crash, and it shows an unwillingness to make any further moves until there is a better-defined movement in the market.</p> <p><img alt="Crypto Fear & Greed Index" class= "size-medium wp-image-528310 aligncenter" height="140" src= "https://www.newsbtc.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Screenshot-2023-04-24-at-13.02.05-460x140.png" width="460"></p> <p class="p2">If the index continues to maintain its neutral territory, then the crypto market may see prices consolidate for a while until investors are confident enough again to start getting back into the market.</p> <h2 class="p2">Could The Bear Market Be In Full Bloom?</h2> <p class="p2">Presently, the crypto market is still seeing sideways movement rather than a definite upward or downward movement. The reviews results showed that all-cause mortality was higher in patients with ASD than in the general population. Females with the disorder were shown to have a greater death risk ratio than males. The authors revealed that the risk of natural death for people with autism was higher, which they attribute to comorbid medical conditions. Although, they noted that unnatural death pattern differences in the ASD population. The team found accidental injury death and suicide rates were higher for those on the spectrum.
  • Concerning new research shows that 16% of children with autism had been expelled from a preschool or child-care setting before elementary school. The average age of the expulsion was 3.3 years. This longitudinal study of 203 children with autism ages 4 to 7 relied upon parent reports for expulsion history and reasons for removal. The research determined that children were likelier to be expelled from private versus public programs. It also showed that previously-expelled children experienced more conflict and dependency in their current student-teacher relationships.
  • Greece has just released an autism prevalence rate report showing a 0.94% or 1 in 100 children in the country have the disorder. This rate tends to align with the global autism prevalence (about 1 in 100) as established by the World Health Organization. Greeces male-to-f...

CDC Reports: 26.7 % of People with ASD Meet the Criteria for Profound Autism "IndyWatch Feed Fertility"

Research Depicts Profound Autism as Very Different than Autism Spectrum Disorder

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently reported that 26.7% of individuals with autism qualify as having profound autism, defined as having the disorder with an intelligence quotient (IQ) score <50 or being nonverbal or minimally verbal. This is the first time CDC has investigated and reported on profound autism prevalence rate data. The authors determined that the rate of profound cases increased from approximately three cases per 1,000 children in 2000 to about five cases per 1,000 in 2016. This report analyzed population-based surveillance data from the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network (ADDM) for 20,135 children aged 8 with autism from 2000-2016. The data showed that children with profound autism were more likely to be female, from racial and ethnic minority groups, of low socioeconomic status, born preterm or with low birth weight, have self-injurious behaviors, have seizure disorders, and have lower adaptive skills. The report also highlights that profound autism is markedly different from the broader diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and points out that children with profound autism may have considerable medical complexity.  It is unlikely that these more affected children will be able to live independently or perform daily living tasks as they grow older. The authors concluded their report by emphasizing that calculating the number of individuals with profound autism and describing their needs is extremely important. It will ensure this vulnerable group receives the services and support needed during their lifetimes. They also called for more research specific to those with profound autism, especially as they transition to adolescence and adulthood.

Molecular Compounds Found in Maternal Mid-Gestational Blood Linked to ASD Risk "IndyWatch Feed Fertility"

Discovered Compounds Tied to Inflammation, Disruption of Membrane Integrity, and Neurotoxicity

An international team of researchers from Columbia Universitys Mailman School of Public Health and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health has discovered disrupted levels of molecular compounds in maternal blood and cord blood. The team believes these compounds  can be linked to a later diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in offspring. Their study involved analyzing levels of 1208 distinct chemical compounds in blood samples collected from 408 mothers at mid-gestation (17-21 weeks) and in cord blood obtained from 418 children at birth through the Norwegian Autism Birth Cohort (ABC). The molecular compounds were analyzed to determine if they were related to a clinical diagnosis of autism at ages 3-5. To carry out this process, the authors utilized chromatography/mass spectrometry-based metabolomics assays to measure levels of chemical compounds found in the maternal and cord blood samples. They then used machine learning to evaluate the predictive value of the compounds as biomarkers for ASD. The authors found 12 chemical compounds in maternal mid-gestation (MMG) samples of ASD girls, three compounds in MMG samples of ASD boys, eight compounds in cord blood (CB) samples of ASD girls, and 12 compounds in CB samples of ASD boys that appear to be linked to autism. These discovered compounds have previously been associated with inflammation, disruption of membrane integrity, impaired neurotransmission, and neurotoxicity. Machine learning analyses suggested that the compounds could serve as biomarkers, especially for those discovered in cord blood. Finding biomarkers is critical, as they can open the door to early diagnosis and treatment, leading to optimal outcomes for children with autism.

Shiba Inu (SHIB) Price Faces Make-Or-Break Moment "IndyWatch Feed Crypto"

The deep correction in the crypto market, led by the collapse of the Bitcoin price, has pushed the Shiba Inu (SHIB) price back into bearish territory. From a technical point of view, new bull moves are far away at the moment; before that, an make-or-break price level has to be defended and a resistance level that has manifested itself since the beginning of March has to be broken.

Shiba Inu Price At Pivotal Point

But first things first. A look at the 1-day chart of Shiba Inu shows that the price has fallen to the edge of the key support level. At press time, SHIB was trading at $0.00001021, slightly above key support at $0.00001005.

As recently as early last week, a bullish picture was evolving for Shiba Inu. The price formed an ascending triangle on the 1-day chart, which is one of the continuation patterns and thus opened the chance for a more than 50% rise within the next weeks.

However, due to the market-wide downturn, SHIB broke the ascending triangle to the downside. The pattern was invalidated, so that the Shiba Inu price is now stuck again in the range between $0.00001005 and $0.00001151.

If the bulls fail to defend the range, a fall to $0.00000965 would be the most likely scenario before SHIB could possibly drop to the price level at $0.00000855. A breakdown below the trading range would be a clear break with the trend.

Holding the support is of utmost importance to start a new run towards the range high at $0.00001155.

Shiba Inu price

A look at the 1-hour chart reveals that SHIB is showing slight signs of recovery. The price has initially formed a falling trend line which was broken at press time. This was followed by a re-test that is currently underway. SHIB now needs to show a significant move to the upside; at best a bounce and break above the $0.00001080 price level.

Not The Net Zero Americans Were Promised "IndyWatch Feed Survival"

This article was originally published by Tyler Durden at ZeroHedge.

While the latest IMF forecasts were mostly lost in the din surrounding the start of earnings season, besides the now standard cuts to global growth forecasts, there was one standout item.

As the National Bank of Canada points out, the IMFs projections forecast US net debt to rise from 95% of GDP in 2023 to 110% by 2028, which actually is a conservative estimate when comparing a similar, if even more concerning longer-term forecast from the Congressional Budget Office, which effectively projects hyperinflation.

But while the fate of US debt/GDP in 2050 may feel like someone elses problem to most Americans, NBC warns that a far more pressing issue may emerge as soon as a decade from today. Thats because unless Washington raises taxes more or slashes benefits (an unlikely outcome), the Social Security fund will hit net zero i.e., will be exhausted in just 10 years.

And as US social security becomes a pay-as-you-go system, sovereign debt issuance will increase at an accelerated rate to offset the statutory decline in the social security fund balance. That, combined...
